Went there on Saturday afternoon for lunch. Wasn't very packed. Place has good beer selection and nice vibe for a sort of sports bar set up. I ordered the burger and it came out quick, It was really good! Very Disappointed in the Service... unfairly treated because we sat outside on the deck while 3 other couples went in and were served????? the place was very busy and they only had the owner as the cook and the mother as the waitress. I think there was a bartender ?? sat outside. No one ever came outside to tell us that they would be with us or brought us water or anything so we witnessed two or three couples go inside and seated got water ...the whole shabang!!! so when I went to ask, what about us to the waitress the cook he's not gonna take any orders for about 10 more minutes as if we've already been out there more than 30 anyway we waited another 15 minutes trying to be patient because the food is really good And the rude mom waitress came out and said she was not gonna wait on us!!! came out and said we are not gonna serve you. Simply because we were outside and they had only one waitress she could have told us when we first got there that we probably would have to wait a good 45 minutes to be waited I saw other people being waited , we were furious, and the waitress didn't even care. She just walked away with her nose up in the air she had no sympathy. I wanted to speak to the owner and complain and tell him we come to Sunset twice a year and that is the place we started to call our place, but we would no longer ...... the service was TERRIBLE!!!! Totally underrated place with all these 1 star ratings and most of them for service and not food. This is a 4.5 and not a 5 but we're talking for beach food. The restaurant is amazing for something on the beach. Love to hit their karaoke or live music on Thursdays, but we missed the last one. We got burgers and wings. Fries were thicker but very good. The burgers were solid. Would love it at medium rare but it is still good. The wings were good buffalo flavor, could have been a bit spicier. Came here before concert in the park. Had the rudest server ever. After 15 minutes we asked "can we at least order our drinks?". She barked at us "I have 3 tables ahead of you!". We waited 5 more minutes and she had only taken one order and was just bringing them drinks. We got up to leave and she heckled us loudly as we walked out GOOD LUCK FINDING A PLACE TO EAT!! We walked across the street were greeted as we walked through the door and had drinks within 2 minutes and dinner within 20. Maybe your waitress needs re-training or a new career. After a week at Sunset, this was the best burger we had all week. Came out super hot and the bun was toasted and perfect. I'm picky on my fries and these were the right amount of crispy. We pulled in about 7 our checkin night-Saturday. Mavericks looked closed with not a car in the parking lot. After finding out it was open...our group deciding to give it a chance. We were the only group at the time in the restaurant aside from 1 gentleman. Service was slow and the waitress didn't seem happy...but she got our orders right. The portions are pretty small and ordinary for the price but the taste was good. I do think it's a bit overpriced for the experience. It did seem to pick up in traffic the later we were there- so maybe it's more a late evening-night crowd. Either way. It was fine, I could see us eating there again another trip. (BTW: this is how you score the maverick badge so yeah...) totally easy to get in and out and plenty of seating on the patio (not much to look at but being outside is good when it's not full-on summering) basic burger-bar overhead is on overhead and women's rugby on the TV (became flat track motorcycle racing after which was kinda neat) seating in booths or at the M-shaped bar. lots of draft and bottley beer plus several bottled ciders to choose from and several burgery options too. started with crab fritters that aren't on the menu but are really crabby and come with a zippy remoulade... yumm! basic burger comes with tomato, pickle, lettuce, a thing of actual mayo, and fries (or rings or other fries) I'm not sure why the ratings are low, the food is plenty good and service and other patrons are friendly. a little spendy for lunches but I'm still gonna break out Peter's whirl-o-meter here and recommend giving 'em one :-) read more

Nice little burger joint to grab a bite. We arrived shortly after opening and the employee...owner? Was still mopping the floor. It appeared kinda sketchy pulling in and walking up to the door but all good. It was clean inside and we were the first customers but weren't alone for long. If you want your burger cooked a certain way you will need to ask as none of our party was asked and I was a bit concerned ordering medium rare hear so I let it go. The menu is a typical bar menu wings, fries, burgers, nachos, ect. There is a Yelp check-in coupon for 50% off an app! This was my second time visiting Maverick Point. My Husband and I live in Ocean Isle and we enjoy getting out and listening to live music, since he's a musician! The atmosphere is nice a little loud when you want to hear the music, but you can tell people are enjoying their conversation with family and friends. I had the Shrimp Basket both times and my husband gets the wings and we usually share! Love that Shrimp Basket, I can't seem to get away fromit to try something else! read more

The food was decent. Some of it was cold while the rest was burning hot. About five people came in after us and received their food before us. They had live music that was decent, but all the songs sounded the same. I would expect a longer wait if they were busy or the food was hard to make but there was none of that. This place is great. Sit at the bar. Food is solid, pizza is yummy and the beer selection is fantastic. Beau and Connie are the best and all of the staff is great. On vacation and stopped here for dinner. Don't know where to begin. Sign said wait to be seated, so we waited and waited and waited. Finally a customer said "just find a seat" then a staff member finally came up to us and handed us menus and told us to find a seat. Eventually she returned to take our drink order. After 10 minutes she brought our drinks ( which was only water) and took our food order. 45 minutes later our food came. The food left a lot to be desired. The burger buns were burnt on the inside and the burgers were burnt one one side . So disappointed and won't go back .Oh and the entertainment was terrible. It should have been a clue when the waitress said "the menu has changed". Maverick's Pointe has been our go to place for cheeseburgers and onion rings. Will probably not go back. Basically the menu items have gone up $2. A Cheeseburger use to cost $10.99 and now is $12.99. Now, if it had been the same cheeseburger I might have gone for it but it was a smaller burger (not the 6oz on previous menu) and the bun was not the nice brioche bun but a doughy potato type bun. The onion rings were not the hot, thin crispy ones we loved but thick, and warm. We were visiting a friend in Sunset Beach and stumbled upon Maverick's. What a treat to find a convenient, clean grille where we could actually go inside to eat! It was neat, clean, and everyone was "Covid concious". That's all good, but the food really made the place special! We had a fried shrimp basket, and an order of Fish n Chips. The shrimp were large, and perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the fish was also a large helping, prepared beautifully, and delicious. Our waitress, (Mariah?) told us the servings were "generous". Came down for lunch not busy at all and the service was terrible. Had to order at the bar and our waiter would never come to the table.

This is a huge EYESORE for Sunset Beach! Looks dirty and dilapidated! Now the food. Gross! We ordered Fish and Chips. Came out undercooked and soggy! Fries were stone cold. Our server was nice and replace them. Sadly they were not much better. The tables and chairs out side are old and the deck looks hazardous! I don't usually leave reviews.. but i would never recommend to ever go here. i wish i could review how the food was... an hour being there, they haven't taken our order, starting to loose patience we left. It took us 20 minutes to get seated, we looked around and there were plenty open seats (at least 5 booths). Made eye contact with serval employees but none wanted to seat us. Finally we were rudely "greeted" and sat down after them throwing the menu down and asking us what we want to eat...since i never gone there before, i asked if we could have a second to pick something out of the small amount of choices, the server seemed immediately aggravated and said he'll be back in acouple minutes. we watched our server walk around and completely ignore us for the next 30 minutes straight... it seemed a bit unreal. before going we looked at it's reviews and thought people were just being too harsh... i promise you they aren't being harsh one bit, this place has terrible service and i would never go back. i hope this helps anyone interested in going, save your time. read more

We have eaten here previously and have never been disappointed. But this time we just had to mention our dissatisfaction with the service. The food as always was good. We love the burgers. But our waitress had to be one of the worst we have encountered. Not friendly, got all of our drink orders wrong. Brought our appetizers without silverware or plates. My husband had to get up & get them. In today's environment we never leave less than 20% tip but sadly today we just could not bring ourselves to give it. We spent two days looking for a cool place to go in Sunset/Ocean Isle and landed here RIGHT before heading out of town, unfortunately. We should have started (and ended) the whole weekend here! I had the honey hot chicken wings and she had the The Pointe burger, both were excellent. Plenty of parking, a laid back casual atmosphere and good for families. Great prices on food and drink and a cozy outdoor seating area. If you're lucky, you'll get Bo as your bartender, he makes a mean Bloody Mary. We were only there during lunch hours, so I'm looking forward to the next trip when we can check out the live music and evening crowd. read more
