So this was our first time here. It was still off season so we were able to sit down right away on a Saturday evening. We sat outside and the view is gorgeous. The outside is great for families or for a date night. They have a section where they have an outside bar so you can be by the water. They also have a small stage that I'm sure they have music outside. So we started off with drinks and some appetizers. We had the calamari, street corn dip and the margarita. We had the steak with a side order of shrimp, had the Big chill burger with an extra side the Hawaiian pasta salad and the Big Chill Island salad with chicken. Service was good. The apps were tasty and if you like spicy hot it was good. The steak and shrimp was good and flavorful, the burger was good but not the pasta salad. It was not good, that even my daughter didn't like it. As for my Big Chill Island salad was also a disappointment. Not sure what it was but the flavors just didn't go well together. We came here on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn't busy at all. We sat outside to get a great view of the water. It was so humid but the views were well worth it. Our waitress was very accommodating and checked on us frequently. The food was delicious! I had the fish tacos and they were so tasty! The mango salsa and the avocado spread definitely added that extra something special to the tacos. My husband had the lobster mac n cheese and he devoured it. The whole experience was great. Sat at the bar for a quick bite and a drink as we were just going to roam around Barefoot landing and eat and drink at other places. Drink orders were easy and I opted for a specialty drink. Ordered the new Crab Bruchetta. It came out quickly.. But is that always a good thing. This time it wasn't. Food didn't live up to what was described on the menu. Im not going to bash these guys, I am a local and we voiced our concerns. They quickly took it away and offered us a new one. I was going to say no thank you as I was reluctant now, but I said yes. The new version took a while longer which I was actually ok with. Manager brought it out and we smashed the whole thing. WAY better the 2nd time. Other issue: female bartender, Monday night working the bar. Mascara on with white accents, about 40 and 5ft6. She had her fingers inside the drinking glasses prior to making the drinks. The restaurant is beautiful- and we even went upstairs to see the Christmas decorations. There is outdoor/indoor dining ( not sure if the upstairs is bar only). The view of the waterway at dusk is utterly beautiful and relaxing. We had Henry Cho tickets at the Alabama Theater at 7. We gave ourselves 2 hours before the show to enjoy dinner. Our server Sage was fun and entertaining. The menu is rather small, catering to island fare. I had the pulled pork cooked in Hawaiian style with grilled pineapple. Not as pretty as the menu photos but was delicious. My hubby had the fish sandwich. I also had a mocktail- no pain- it was delicious too. Since we had time we also enjoyed the coconut cake. That was a nice treat not too sweet. But again it did not look like the picture. Everything was great for us my only thought is that the pictures should look like what you actually get. Our very first stop to start our SC vacation! There was a large group of us (9), when we got there Saturday afternoon, and the wait wasn't too long to be seated. Luckily there is an outside bar that we could use while we waited. The beers were good (a lot of locals on tap) and the views were absolutely stunning. There is a waterway behind the restaurant and what looks to be like a marina. HUGE boats. Made me feel quite poor actually (LOL). The interior decor was beachy and lovely without being kitschy. Our waitress was great and brought out our food and drinks quickly and correctly. The crab hushpuppies were AMAZING but the empanadas fell a little flat with me...too much dough (or cornmeal I guess.) The place is beautiful. The location is great, but the food, drinks and service left MUCH to be desired. Firstly, the server, Carson, I think, was completely ill equipped to be successful. He was young and an attractive kid, but had no business working as a server. His attention to detail was wholly non existent. Upon delivery of said waters and 4 menus, he asked if she was waiting for others before ordering.???? Once all 4 of us were at the table, we ordered mixed drinks, specifically, a Crown and Coke, a mojito and two Grey Goose vodkas with a splash of soda with orange on one a lime on the other. Two drinks were fine, the vodka drinks were wrong. Filled to the top with soda. Could not even taste the vodka. We did not send them back because, we knew he would not understand what we wanted. We ordered our meals. One Mahi dish, one lobster roll and two burgers. My wife asked for Swiss cheese instead of American and the young man, said we only have American and Pimento?!? Seriously!?!What restaurant in a tourist resort town, that has numerous sandwiches on its menu doesn't have Swiss, Cheddar and Jack as options. The food was delivered. Well, not much improved. The burgers went straight from the Sysco packaging straight onto the grill with NO SEASONING. None. 3 of the dishes ordered came with French fries. There was no ketchup on the table. We found Big Chill while we were looking for some place to eat that didn't close early. We sat the bar and had a burger and a beer. The staff was extremely friendly. They had music outside on the Beautiful patio. Burger was perfectly cooked. After we were done we went upstairs and saw the second bar and rooftop seating. Let me start this review by saying the ONLY reason I'm giving this three stars is because our server Abby A. was phenomenal! We had a reservation for 6:45 pm and arrived a little after 6:30. Almost everyone in the group went to the bar to wait and was told someone would come for them when the table was ready. I stopped in another store on the way in to the restaurant, so I was a few minutes behind. When I came in, I told the hostess that I'm meeting the rest of my party who is potentially already seated, if she could direct me to where. I gave her the name it was under, and she said they weren't checked in yet. I thought it was strange, but it was almost 6:45 and thought we should still be fine. I texted them to let them know what I was told-they DID check in, so I told the hostess I would wait until the table was ready with her so I could let the rest of my party know. I waited until 7:00 and asked her if we were still waiting for a table or if they were waiting for the rest of my party to come out front and she said she would go check. She came back and said that there still wasn't a table ready and we'd have to wait about 15 more minutes. I joined the rest of my group and went back up front since no one came to get us and asked again. We are now approaching an hour past our reservation and she had seated several other big groups one of which specifically told me they did not have a reservation. I got a little frustrated and let it be known and we were finally seated right about 7:45. If it wasn't for the fact that we had two small children with us that were losing their mind, I would've been fine, even if I was annoyed. When we were finally seated, we were fortunately greeted with a wonderful server, Abby A. I was not overly thrilled with the choices of food on the menu, but we had 6 adults and everyone found something and they were all famished, so I couldn't get many pictures. We ordered the street corn dip (delicious), crab hushpuppies (probably would have been really good had they not been so overcooked/on the verge of burnt) and island fries (I didn't try because 2 of the adults were tearing from the peppers) As for entrees, I settled for the steak skewers, which were well cooked, and tasted OK. I opted to get asparagus instead of the broccolini, but it was WAY overcooked, flavorless, and soggy. I wish I thought to ask for some other than fries because the 2 I tried weren't worth eating. Others ordered chicken peanut mango salad (good), Hawaiian Kalua pork (enjoyed), Capera Island salmon (done well), low country pasta added shrimp (shrimp was cooked nicely), and hamburger kids meal...thinner that McDonald's! She didn't even want to eat the burger "slice". The food was decent, but not nearly good enough for me to ever go back after waiting over an hour our time for a reservation that was made over a week ago without any apologies or even checking in on us. If I hadn't kept checking back, I don't think we would've been seated for a while. I could've spent about $400 somewhere else and had better food and treated with more respect while waiting for our LATE reservation. read more

The views were amazing, the food was excellent and our server Sydney was fantastic very attentive and caring throughout the night. The only issue was the host. From the start, he seemed annoyed when I asked for a dining table instead of bar seating. He grabbed the menus, said a dismissive "yeah," walked us outside and tossed the menus on the table without a word. His demeanor came across as rude and unwelcoming. If I wanted that kind of service, I would've gone to Dick's Last Resort across the shopping center. Kicked back here with my son and stepdad while the ladies went on a shopping marathon at Barefoot Landing. We didn't chow down this round, just wet the whistle with a few cold ones. The outside seating was roomy, comfy, and had that laid-back "vacation mode" vibe. Service was friendly as can be, and sitting right on the water was the cherry on top. Didn't try the grub, but it sure looked tasty rolling by -- we were this close to stealing a bite off the next table (kidding... kinda). All in all, a solid pit stop. It's a nice place right on the water, nicely decorated and beautiful views on the water. Our server was quick. We ordered salad and after they brought it out they stated they did not have all the ingredients for it. Would've been nice to know ahead of time. The food was mediocre. The shrimp on anything is not grilled at all and lacked any flavor. The servings were big. The poke fries had zero taste as well as the crab hush puppies. Only because you can see the crab in it did you know crab was invited. The kahula pork sliders should not be named that because they tasted no where near it, more like a vinegar bbq. I had a wonderful experience here on July 4th. We sat on the lower deck outside overlooking the marina for dinner. We were able to watch the sun set and boats pass by as we waited for the fireworks. Big Chill is right in Barefoot landing and has a patio that overlooks the water. The location is super convenient as the parking lot is right there. The patio is not fully shaded and was too hot for us at dinner time. We made a reservation since we had a big party, but we saw plenty of people coming in without a reservation and they were able to accommodate. Overall I was a bit disappointed by the restaurant. There were not a lot of vegetarian focused foods, unless you are a pescatarian, it's mostly salad. Even the hush puppies have crab in them! I was excited to see ceviche on the menu and when I asked what the fish of the day was for it, our waiter said tuna poke, making me think the fish was just cubed tuna. But! They actually ran out of ceviche. They never said they ran out though! I ordered the ceviche and received a sad bowl of raw tuna covered in soy sauce. That's it, no veggies that it says the ceviche comes with (corn, avocado, diced onions, lime) just tuna and chips, which is not what I wanted at all. They took it back and didn't charge for it, and I ended up getting the corn salad instead. My family had ordered the fried chicken platter, which was fine but the menu states it's a thigh piece and it's a breast piece. I understand its off season, however, I believe off season is the time to shine since less crowd and folks will more likely come back during summer time. My family and I will not come back unless reviews improve. For time reference, we came in on a Monday night around 5:30pm left at 8pm. We did not have a reservation however the restaurant was plenty empty. Party of 7 got seated in the bar area, which was perfectly fine. Only 1 bartender to tend to 10 chairs at the bar and 4 tables WHILE doing the drinks for the WHOLE bottom floor. She was great (I didn't catch her name) but obviously overwhelmed. We waited for at-least 35 mins before being asked what we wanted to drink. We waited another 20 mins to get our drinks (only a couple got a bar drink, the rest got soft drinks.) We ordered 20 mins before 7pm (end of happy hour) and the waiter told us the kitchen is 30 mins behind and out of several items. While waiting for our food, the table next to us was told the kitchen is out of tartar sauce. We waited for close to 40 mins to get our food. The food was nothing special or fresh. Several folks got a fish platter and they said frozen Gordon fish fillets in the air fryer taste better. The fries on the plate were cold and not crispy; Ore Ida would not support these fries. My party had tartar sauce but if you consider mayo with a hint of pickle tartar sauce. Long John Silvers packet tartar sauce would have been nice. Another member of my party ordered chicken wings. They were cooked (thank you) but the sauce and flavor were disappointing. Hooters wings are better and fresher. Another party had a chicken sandwich with pasta salad. They said the chicken was good but the bun was cold and hard (they ate the sandwich open face). The pasta salad was the best thing anyone ordered! To top it all off, the waiter (who had been great) rang our card on a different table ticket. (Another member of my party said the waiter did the same thing on another table) So to sum this review up, save your money and your patients and go somewhere else. Again, not sure if this is an off night and they are struggling during the winter months or this is their new norm. But for a Monday night during the winter, it should not be the norm. read more

Wow!! This place is beautiful. The decor and location stand out. Service was great and friendly as well. I will say, the food was disappointing. I have tried this place a few times and thought maybe I ordered wrong. After eating there several times, their menu needs an overhaul. It's hard to mess up French Fries but even they are not good. I've also tried a salad and a chicken sandwich, nothing special. If this place is not busy, they should consider the food being the issue. Not necessarily an issue with the way food is prepared but its ingredients. Seems like whoever came up with menu options don't eat at this restaurant. Really love the atmosphere of this place especially the outside seating. Probably the best calamari I've had in Myrtle Beach. I like the fact that they used an aïoli plus a sweet chili. That combination went really well on the calamari. I'm not a big fry person either. They were really good. Lobster roll was also very good toasted bun. They didn't overpower the lobster. So far all the food was tasting amazing the bloody Mary was good. We ordered dessert. She describe the Tres Leche cake to us. It sounded amazing. It was not good at all. I am married into a family Hispanics family so we did not enjoy it. They took it off our check and brought out a Keylime pie without asking. We went on a Wednesday night in early June, around 6:15pm. The wait was said to be 45 minutes but we only 10 and got an awesome table upstairs outside looking over the intercostal waterway, it was awesome with sunset starting. The rush seemed to be early (say between 5-6pm) as the place was much more empty when we were leaving then when we arrived . This is a great new addition to Barefoot landing. There are many different rooms and decor everywhere. I kid you not they have instagram opportunities on every wall. Now to the food, great options, a multitude of salads and cool unique dishes like Birria Beef Ramen, Tuna Nikkei Ceviche, Rum Hot Honey Wings, Street Corn Salad, Banana Leaf Mahi Mahi and many other options that sound oooo so scrumptious. I choose to get the Hawaiian Kalua Pork, which is described this way: pork cooked slow in a banana leaf, served with grilled pineapple, pasta salad & a Hawaiian roll. It's $22 and was incredible, the taste was great and loved the combo of the pasta salad and pineapple it lead to some really cool combinations of flavor. I want it again just thinking about it. The service was great and they have a really good kids menu too.
