I have been coming to Boundary House for years and had a chance to bring a friend this past weekend. Always a lovely experience! Typically, when I come, it is with a larger group so we have to sit inside. For anyone wondering, you are likely always going to have a wait. And that's okay! There is a wonderful beach and Christmas shop right across the parking lot that you can peruse - I promise you can kill at least 45 minutes, and the meal is well worth the wait. This time, since it was just my friend and I, we decided to sit at the outdoor bar, which is first come first serve. We were quickly seated, so it worked out perfectly. One thing I will say is that this patio is in the direct path of the setting sun, so just have your sunglasses ready. I ordered the Sarita Margarita, which is my favorite cocktail they have. It is like a fruity, boozy slushy. Absolutely delicious and perfect after a day at the beach. I always get the Hurricane Chicken. It is my absolute favorite meal. If I were to have my choice of my last meal on earth, it would be Boundary House's Hurricane Chicken. When you order an entree, it comes with a side salad. My recommendation to you is to get their house raspbery vinagrette, it pairs perfectly with this salad! Now, the Hurricane Chicken itself is this delightful combination of a chicken breast, crab cake, and shrimp with some delicious sauce on top. It is so creamy with the variety of flavors that three meats bring. In case you don't finish it all, it also reheats well for leftovers the next day. We had an early Saturday dinner at The Boundary House. We couldn't get reservations but only had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. We kicked things off with an order of the croissants and found them "almost". They were almost done but could have benefited from a little more time in the oven. Likewise, they were almost excellent if there had been just a tiny bit more honey butter drizzled on them too. My dining companion tried the pick two seafood platter with shrimp and oysters. It was a big, fat fail: the shrimp were not properly cleaned, the oysters had obviously been sitting around and were most definitely not cooked to order, the baked sweet potato wasn't fully baked, and the hush puppies were bready, greasy, and inedible. My sirloin steak was mostly cooked medium as requested. It was OK, but my baked potato wasn't baked completely through. For some reason, butter and sour cream servings were tiny. There's just no excuse for skimping at the prices being charged. The interior of the restaurant is noisy but you don't have to shout to be heard at your table. It definitely has a contemporary restaurant feel, which is very different from other Calabash restaurants like The Seafood Hut. My steak is the only thing saving The Boundary House from a 1-star review. It's an over-priced tourist trap and really not representative of the classic seafood restaurants nearby. read more

Located on the beachy strip that is River Road and has lots of parking on site. This place is huge, a cathedral if you will with high ceilings, a huge bar, plenty of tables and booths. The interior is nautical of course with lots of polished wood. Its so big that not 1 but 2 large whaler fishing boats hang from the ceiling. Its so large that it was the only place w around on a Friday night with a minimal wait at dinner time. Decent sized menu with many sides. One nice feature is that even if a dish comes with one side, you can replace it with another; Plenty of seafood but also steaks, pastas, and sandwiches. All provided by a very friendly staff. First off, treat yourselves to their house made croissants with butter & honey. Apps -- the Calabash Seafood Gumbo ( only $10) a tomato based soup with shrimp, crawfish, oysters, Andouille sausage, and okra served with rice was meal in itself. Goof flavors and fresh ingredients. --the New England Clam Chowder, cream based chowder loaded with chopped clams was excellent. Entrees --( a Special) grilled Snapper topped with a mango salsa with a fried risotto cake and asparagus was good but not great. The fish was very good but the risotto cake was not. I should have optioned mash potatoes instead. All in all, large portions, great prices, and very good service. Definitely a place to go to when in the area. read more

Our party of six returned for lunch last week, and we were delighted with our visit. The Boundary House is conveniently located directly behind Callahan's Store. After a few hours of shopping, it was a good place to go for a bite to eat. Our server was Summer, and she was gracious and helpful. We love the atmosphere of this place, with not one, but two large fishing boats suspended from the ceiling. The interior is comprised of oak stained hardwood, and is beautiful. They have a full bar, and a kitchen that puts out wonderful food. The menu options are substantial. We each enjoyed our meals. read more

I went back for the first time in 11 years and had an even better experience than the last one which made me come back this time! I went with the baked potato soup, prime rib sandwich, and key lime pie. All 3 items were such a treat to have. The service was great. Although it was busy, the waitstaff was still attentive - even taking the time to give some personal recommendations. As a result, I tried my prime sandwich with the recommended horseradish sauce and that made it just that much more enjoyable. The restaurant atmosphere is one of the best parts. Its interior is so well designed and decorated. It's great sitting at the bar or in the large dining area. I can't wait to come back, hopefully sooner than another 11 years read more

This was a WONDERFUL 2nd time this year (2026) lunch!! My son, his wife, and one of my best friends were able to join us. ALL OF US ENJOYED EVERYTHING!! Hubby had the Monte Cristo, my friend & I had the flounder (she added a bowl of clam chowder) our meals were from the luncheon menu which are perfectly priced & sized!) my son had the Clark's combo off the regular menu (2sides cone with) & a bowl of clam chowder, all four of us had the FAMOUS - DO NOT MISS IT BOUNDARY SALAD!! his wife had the Asian salad off the regular menu, and we all shared a basket of THE MOST DELICIOUS WARM CROISSANTS DRIZZLED IN A HEAVENLY HONEY SAUCE!! We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was excellent, the staff was attentive, and every dish our group ordered was a hit. Our party enjoyed the ribs, strip steak, ribeye, and blackened scallops, and there were no complaints. Pretty much regulars here at BoHo. Had dinner at the outside bar and tried the fried shrimp with Alfredo pasta. I don't eat a lot of fried, so first time trying the shrimp. It was fine, nothing to rave about. The Alfredo pasta was merely pasta with grated cheese on top, really no sauce. I did request extra cheese twice, but that did not happen. Yes, in the midst of tourist season, but with empty seats and tables, and seemingly more than adequate staff, was disappointing. Beautiful setting tho. read more

Stopped here for dinner and there was a really long wait. Apparently the outdoor seating has a separate waiting list (also first come first serve but a little less organized) and we had a much shorter waiting time. The outdoor patio is pretty nice. Very roomy and they had some fans blowing which I think helped keep the flies away. The server was extremely friendly and was on top of everything! He was running around everywhere but still managed to frequently check in with us and make some small talk/crack some jokes. The server recommend I get the house salad with 2 dressings and listening to him was one of the best decisions I made. I'm not a big salad person but it was probably the highlight of my meal. I really love how they add a croissant to the salads. It was so soft and flaky and had a nice honey butter glaze. Rest of the meal was solid and pretty much what you'd expect of fried oysters & crab cake. Mashed potatoes could've used more garlic and cheddar flavor but they were still good. read more

So I came to this restaurant a couple of days ago and to start off my review I think The presentation and the ambience and the service of the restaurant is very good. There was a waiter I had named Keith (I may have his name wrong if so, my apologies) who was very nice and accommodating, and I really hope he is commended for his good service). Secondly, the food there was was really good as well, and even the cocktails/frozen drinks were very unique and creative, which I liked. I also like how they have nonalcoholic beverages as well, as seen in the photos and I hope more restaurants, such as this one can expand on it more. One of the few downsides I had with the Restaurant for me personally, was the fact that there was no Wi-Fi at all nor was there any form of digital payments such as Apple Pay/Google pay etc, and I'm not sure if the no Wi-Fi thing is an intentional choice, but I think having both of those things in a restaurant should already be common practice in 2026. Almost every restaurant you go to has a digital payment option as everyone is using those. So if you're trying to call someone or use your phone for other things, it becomes way harder with the lack of signal. Overall, the presentation of Restaurant is very nice and I definitely would go again to explore more of their options. if you're a restaurant trying to go for a more old-school approach or style to things, you can at least do so while adapting with the times. read more

Recently tried this place with our neighbors! Great atmosphere! Glad we got there early as there was a line to be seated by the time we left! Our waiter was great! Very attentive and a great, dry sense of humor! My wife ordered the clam chowder and loved it! I ordered a rack of ribs and she ordered the scallop appetizer for her meal! Both were very good! Our first visit to The Boundary House exceeded all of our expectations. We had a reservation, so we were seated immediately upon entry. I am a fan of nautical themeing, so the wood interior, nautical lighting, and boats made me very happy. We had studied the menu prior to our visit and knew we were getting a basket of croissants to start and Monte Cristos for our lunch entrée. We live an hour drive away, and since no establishment in our area offers the Monte Cristo, we were more than happy to make the trek to Calabash for a Valentine's Day lunch. I paired my meal with the Blackberry Martini, the perfect libation for this entrée. Our server Grace L was the best! She made us feel like honored guests. The manager came by to check on us as well, and from what I observed, The Boundary House provides impeccable service. The place is quite relaxed and casual, yet the experience truly is one of fine dinning. I fully understand why this place is so popular. We will definitely be back for dinner and do hope that Grace will be working that evening. She really is a super star. read more

We went to The Boundary House in late August 2025 because we heard they had pretty good Prime Rib. Well they did not disappoint us one bit. The prime rib was roasted to perfection and the chef might have slipped with the knife because these seemed much larger portions then advertised... (when does that happen?) We are going back the last week of March with some friends from out of town coming to visit. I'll update this review once we do. read more

First off I want to clarify the service was great. The hostess was kind and my waitress was extremely nice and friendly. That was the only highlight. I guess the chef doesn't know how to cook a steak, I order mine medium well and it came out undercooked twice. My New York strip was chewy and had no flavor whatsoever. It tasted like a pure slab of meat without even a pinch of salt or pepper. My potato had more seasoning and tasted better than my $37 steak. The Alfredo was $28 and tasted very simple, in no way worth the cost. The calamari tasted like something you would get from any other restaurant and the sauce was too thick to even dip the calamari in. The ambiance was very basic, in which usually I wouldn't care, though I just spent over $100 on my meal so it could've looked a little nicer considering this restaurant presents itself as upscale. I would never come back here again, nor would I recommend this to anybody. Our waitress asked if we hadn't liked our food because she could see the displeasure on our faces, and after voicing how we felt, the manager only offered us a free dessert ($8-$12), as if that was gonna make me feel better about spending over $100 on two meals that would've been better enjoyed at a chain restaurant. read more

We went with our family of 7. Lots of food and drinks, easy to get things mixed up but the entire staff with our server Lexi did everything perfectly. Overall service from our primary server was pretty good. Very attentive and took care of a couple of small issues right away which was great. Got to say though, the food was very disappointing. Started out with a Salad which was good (croissant with salad was great). Main meal was downhill from that point. Ordered a combo plate with fried oysters and blackened grouper. seasoning on Grouper was pretty good but fish was a dry. Oysters had nice flavor but were very greasy and had very little breading on them. Both the hushpupplies and fries were luke warm. Fries tasted like they were fried with the same grease as the fish they prepare. Paid $40 for a meal that really wasn't very good. Others in our party pretty much had overall same feeling. Grits they ordered were bland, no sausage in them although stated on menu there would be. Not a great experience read more

Very popular restaurant so make sure you have reservations. The upside of this is table service is very prompt. If you do not have resys there is ample open seating at the bar. very diverse menu. The weather was nice and we sat outside in the bar area. Our bartender was very attentive and friendly. I started with Pama Mojito. The presentation of this drink is amazing. It tasted as good as it looked. It had the right amount of rum and mint leaves. For my entree, I decided on the Boundary Combo, pick two. When in Rome, you have to try the seafood. I'm glad I did. The flounder tasted very fresh and it was fried to perfection. It wasn't overdone. The shrimp were a nice size. I chose a house salad and mashed potatoes. The house salad is great. It had eggs, tomatoes, bacon with a tasty honey mustard dressing. The salad comes with a buttery croissant. The mash potatoes were divine. Definitely try them. It said in two places they have a dedicated fryer for safe fried seafood for people who are Gluten Free. The server said they use to but never updated their web site. It is Calabash so I expected fried Seafood . The manager acted like I made that up. I decided I wasn't going to argue with him so I told him that. We waited almost a hour before we got our food . They said the kitchen was behind. They brought me regular tea instead of sweet and I didn't get the side I ask for either because it was a dinner item.
