I have been coming to Boundary House for years and had a chance to bring a friend this past weekend. Always a lovely experience! Typically, when I come, it is with a larger group so we have to sit inside. For anyone wondering, you are likely always going to have a wait. And that's okay! There is a wonderful beach and Christmas shop right across the parking lot that you can peruse - I promise you can kill at least 45 minutes, and the meal is well worth the wait. This time, since it was just my friend and I, we decided to sit at the outdoor bar, which is first come first serve. We were quickly seated, so it worked out perfectly. One thing I will say is that this patio is in the direct path of the setting sun, so just have your sunglasses ready. I ordered the Sarita Margarita, which is my favorite cocktail they have. It is like a fruity, boozy slushy. Absolutely delicious and perfect after a day at the beach. I always get the Hurricane Chicken. It is my absolute favorite meal. If I were to have my choice of my last meal on earth, it would be Boundary House's Hurricane Chicken. When you order an entree, it comes with a side salad. My recommendation to you is to get their house raspbery vinagrette, it pairs perfectly with this salad! Now, the Hurricane Chicken itself is this delightful combination of a chicken breast, crab cake, and shrimp with some delicious sauce on top. It is so creamy with the variety of flavors that three meats bring. In case you don't finish it all, it also reheats well for leftovers the next day. Located on the beachy strip that is River Road and has lots of parking on site. This place is huge, a cathedral if you will with high ceilings, a huge bar, plenty of tables and booths. The interior is nautical of course with lots of polished wood. Its so big that not 1 but 2 large whaler fishing boats hang from the ceiling. Its so large that it was the only place w around on a Friday night with a minimal wait at dinner time. Decent sized menu with many sides. One nice feature is that even if a dish comes with one side, you can replace it with another; Plenty of seafood but also steaks, pastas, and sandwiches. All provided by a very friendly staff. First off, treat yourselves to their house made croissants with butter & honey. Apps -- the Calabash Seafood Gumbo ( only $10) a tomato based soup with shrimp, crawfish, oysters, Andouille sausage, and okra served with rice was meal in itself. Goof flavors and fresh ingredients. --the New England Clam Chowder, cream based chowder loaded with chopped clams was excellent. Entrees --( a Special) grilled Snapper topped with a mango salsa with a fried risotto cake and asparagus was good but not great. The fish was very good but the risotto cake was not. So I came to this restaurant a couple of days ago and to start off my review I think The presentation and the ambience and the service of the restaurant is very good. There was a waiter I had named Keith (I may have his name wrong if so, my apologies) who was very nice and accommodating, and I really hope he is commended for his good service). Secondly, the food there was was really good as well, and even the cocktails/frozen drinks were very unique and creative, which I liked. I also like how they have nonalcoholic beverages as well, as seen in the photos and I hope more restaurants, such as this one can expand on it more. One of the few downsides I had with the Restaurant for me personally, was the fact that there was no Wi-Fi at all nor was there any form of digital payments such as Apple Pay/Google pay etc, and I'm not sure if the no Wi-Fi thing is an intentional choice, but I think having both of those things in a restaurant should already be common practice in 2026. Almost every restaurant you go to has a digital payment option as everyone is using those. So if you're trying to call someone or use your phone for other things, it becomes way harder with the lack of signal. Overall, the presentation of Restaurant is very nice and I definitely would go again to explore more of their options. if you're a restaurant trying to go for a more old-school approach or style to things, you can at least do so while adapting with the times. read more

I went back for the first time in 11 years and had an even better experience than the last one which made me come back this time! I went with the baked potato soup, prime rib sandwich, and key lime pie. All 3 items were such a treat to have. The service was great. Although it was busy, the waitstaff was still attentive - even taking the time to give some personal recommendations. As a result, I tried my prime sandwich with the recommended horseradish sauce and that made it just that much more enjoyable. The restaurant atmosphere is one of the best parts. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was excellent, the staff was attentive, and every dish our group ordered was a hit. Our party enjoyed the ribs, strip steak, ribeye, and blackened scallops, and there were no complaints. This was a WONDERFUL 2nd time this year (2026) lunch!! My son, his wife, and one of my best friends were able to join us. ALL OF US ENJOYED EVERYTHING!! Hubby had the Monte Cristo, my friend & I had the flounder (she added a bowl of clam chowder) our meals were from the luncheon menu which are perfectly priced & sized!) my son had the Clark's combo off the regular menu (2sides cone with) & a bowl of clam chowder, all four of us had the FAMOUS - DO NOT MISS IT BOUNDARY SALAD!! his wife had the Asian salad off the regular menu, and we all shared a basket of THE MOST DELICIOUS WARM CROISSANTS DRIZZLED IN A HEAVENLY HONEY SAUCE!! Apparently the outdoor seating has a separate waiting list (also first come first serve but a little less organized) and we had a much shorter waiting time. The outdoor patio is pretty nice. Very roomy and they had some fans blowing which I think helped keep the flies away. The server was extremely friendly and was on top of everything! He was running around everywhere but still managed to frequently check in with us and make some small talk/crack some jokes. The server recommend I get the house salad with 2 dressings and listening to him was one of the best decisions I made. I'm not a big salad person but it was probably the highlight of my meal. I really love how they add a croissant to the salads. It was so soft and flaky and had a nice honey butter glaze. Rest of the meal was solid and pretty much what you'd expect of fried oysters & crab cake. Mashed potatoes could've used more garlic and cheddar flavor but they were still good. read more

Recently tried this place with our neighbors! Great atmosphere! Glad we got there early as there was a line to be seated by the time we left! Our waiter was great! Very attentive and a great, dry sense of humor! My wife ordered the clam chowder and loved it! I ordered a rack of ribs and she ordered the scallop appetizer for her meal! Both were very good! Overall service from our primary server was pretty good. Very attentive and took care of a couple of small issues right away which was great. Got to say though, the food was very disappointing. Started out with a Salad which was good (croissant with salad was great). Main meal was downhill from that point. Ordered a combo plate with fried oysters and blackened grouper. seasoning on Grouper was pretty good but fish was a dry. Oysters had nice flavor but were very greasy and had very little breading on them. Both the hushpupplies and fries were luke warm. Fries tasted like they were fried with the same grease as the fish they prepare. Paid $40 for a meal that really wasn't very good. Others in our party pretty much had overall same feeling. Our first visit to The Boundary House exceeded all of our expectations. We had a reservation, so we were seated immediately upon entry. I am a fan of nautical themeing, so the wood interior, nautical lighting, and boats made me very happy. We had studied the menu prior to our visit and knew we were getting a basket of croissants to start and Monte Cristos for our lunch entrée. We live an hour drive away, and since no establishment in our area offers the Monte Cristo, we were more than happy to make the trek to Calabash for a Valentine's Day lunch. I paired my meal with the Blackberry Martini, the perfect libation for this entrée. Our server Grace L was the best! She made us feel like honored guests. The manager came by to check on us as well, and from what I observed, The Boundary House provides impeccable service. The place is quite relaxed and casual, yet the experience truly is one of fine dinning. I fully understand why this place is so popular. We went to The Boundary House in late August 2025 because we heard they had pretty good Prime Rib. Well they did not disappoint us one bit. The prime rib was roasted to perfection and the chef might have slipped with the knife because these seemed much larger portions then advertised... (when does that happen?) what ever you do, do not order the crab cakes!!!! i was told they were made fresh with lots of fresh lump crab meat. nothing could be further from the truth. the truth is the crab cakes are purchased on the cheap, pre-made, and frozen with virtually "zero crab meat" in them. they are just deep fried and barely edible. please don't waste your money. this was my first time at boundry house. it was my brothers 68th birthday on tuesday 5/26/2026 and he suggested i buy him dinner at boundry house where he has been several times. we had dinner reservations at 4:30pm and were seated immediately. when we left at about 6pm i was surprised how packed the place was with people waiting to be seated on a tuesday evening. i will say the service from our waitress jalecia was top notch and i left her a 20% tip. read more

I had lunch yesterday afternoon on the outdoor porch and ordered the shrimp quesadilla! I have to be truly honest there was barely any shrimp in it, and I was very disappointed. I'm wondering why you do not offer tacos in your restaurant I know you have them at Clarks. I would definitely suggest you add them to your menu. We stopped The Boundary House for dinner. There was an hour wait, but we enjoyed strolling through Callahan's next door until our table was ready. The restaurant was busy, and a bit noisy though not so bad as to be off-putting. The menu has most of the standard Callabash seafood fare, with steaks, chicken, and pasta dishes as well. Pros: 1.) Our server Aliyah was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the menu, and how other diners had felt about dishes and drinks. She provided spot on recommendations. 2.) Overall, the food was good (with a few exceptions noted below). The hot bacon house dressing, the basket of croissants, and crab drip were particularly great. Cons: 1.) The hushpuppies. Something was just off about these, but we all agreed that they were not just not good, they were bad. 2.) Our group of seven was seated in a round corner booth that wasn't the most comfortable. The weather was nice and we sat outside in the bar area. Our bartender was very attentive and friendly. I started with Pama Mojito. The presentation of this drink is amazing. It tasted as good as it looked. It had the right amount of rum and mint leaves. For my entree, I decided on the Boundary Combo, pick two. When in Rome, you have to try the seafood. I'm glad I did. The flounder tasted very fresh and it was fried to perfection. It wasn't overdone. The shrimp were a nice size. I chose a house salad and mashed potatoes. The house salad is great. It had eggs, tomatoes, bacon with a tasty honey mustard dressing. The salad comes with a buttery croissant. The mash potatoes were divine. Definitely try them. The Boundary House has long been a standby when we're in the area. The food is always pretty good and the wait staff is generally friendly. It seems less enjoyable than in the past though. Very very disappointed in the quality of the food. I had a BLT in which I don't think the bacon was ever in a frying pan. It was loaded with cold undercooked bacon and could not find the tomatoe in the sandwich. I was not the only person at the table who was critical of their food. Either I have had a "senior moment" or my review of Boundary House has disappeared. I am going to assume the latter since Boundary House has been a must visit since our first meal here several visits to Myrtle Beach ago. I discovered the Flounder lunch special on our first visit and although it is a bargain ($12 at last visit), it is one of the most delicious fried fish meals I have had in a long time. It is a serious piece of flounder. None of that thin and small flounder that makes you wonder if the catch was legal and if the flounder population is being decimated by serving such small flounder. The dining area is very comfortable and there is plenty of room. They can handle a lot of people. Courtesy of the pandemic they have added a wonderful outdoor dining space to the back of the restaurant. Service has always been friendly and efficient for our visits. My husband and I went to the Boundary House on 4/19/2026. We sat at the bar as usual. The bartender took our drink order right away. It took about 10 minutes before he came back to get our dinner order even though the bar was fairly empty. Our meals came out after a pretty long time and the side of steamed vegetables that my husband had asked for wasn't with the food. The bartender came out with them shortly and truthfully, it was a pathetic looking dish of vegetables. I couldn't believe that this small dish was a side of vegetables that they charge $5 for. Service was beyond excellent. Mason kept our drinks full and was extremely detail oriented. One of our guest is on a strict diet which he wasn't aware of. She ordered the veggie side and he went so far as to ask if any veggies needed to be removed and others doubled up, and if the butter/salt/and pepper was okay. He was extremely polite and all of us were just really surprised by how good the service was. The fried oysters were excellent, light and crispy but still rich enough that they paired well with the cocktail sauce. I was disappointed by the flounder, which was pretty dry. But that can be expected when it's blackened. The flavor was still good though. My wife ordered the burger and a blackberry martini, and she loved both. Stopped in for a late lunch on a dreary Monday. Service was excellent and very friendly. Ambience was nice. It wasn't too crowded but enough patrons to make it feel lively. Food was pretty good - they have a nice variety of lunch specials to select from. We both chose the half prime rib sandwich, and side salad which was very good. We also each had soup - my husband love the clam chowder. I chose the loaded baked potatoes soup, disappointed that they could not serve it without bacon, but it was still pretty good.
