TLDR: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I brought my car in for an oil change, the service was a bit slow, but certainly not something I'd leave a 1-star review for. The wait was 40ish minutes even though they brought my car to the service bay immediately. The next day I go to drive my car and the oil pressure/check engine light comes on. I check my oil engine and it's BONE DRY! I mentioned this to a co-worker, and she said the same thing happened to her at the Whiting Mavis location. Apparently, Mavis wants to put new engines in everyone's car, but not oil? I called the store and the Service Manager, Roger told me to put some oil in it and bring it down. I tell him this car isn't moving an inch, and I'm not paying for a tow. They send a technician down and put the already paid for oil in my car. I then request they tow it to see if they did any damage, they do. At that time they were instructed not to perform any service on my car without my approval first. After waiting 4 plus hours and hearing nothing about my car, I decided to call and find out they performed another oil change and drove my car 6 miles, without my consent! Supposedly no issues are found without taking the engine apart. They even mentioned how they made sure there were no leaks when they performed the new oil change. This only further proves that no one even put oil in my car in the first place. I then relay at a minimum I'm expecting a refund and a statement acknowledging what happened. I'm still awaiting the refund they've thus far refused to issue me, instead wanting to give me a future free oil change and a call from the Mavis Regional Manager, Hugh, which was promised yesterday. To say I am dissatisfied would be an understatement. Not only did no one at Mavis take any blame for what happened, they still want me to pay for the oil change. All I got was "mistakes happen." How are there no checks and balances for something like this? Especially since the only reason I went there was for an oil change.

Went with my mom to get air in her tire late Sunday just before they were closing, Brooks who works there found a screw in her tire and fixed it, free of charge.

I've worked on cars since I was a teenager, but I don't have a place anymore to do so. If they weren't honest, I'd know it. They've never tried to upsell me on anything. They've never been and will never be the "replace your blinker fluid" type of shop. True honest guys that I fully trust. They DO, however, add a 3% fee for using your credit card, so bring cash! First time my car was in, the AC got fixed and it still works perfectly over a year later. Second time, the brakes needed to be done. They replaced the pads, rotors, and calipers - all of which I knew were the problem. The left caliper was sticking (I suspected so,) causing the bulk of my bill. That wasn't an upsell, it was necessary. I also need to get a wheel bearing replaced, but because it's another $400+ job, that will have to wait. Instead of pushing me into it, they warned of the risk, and said it isn't loose, so I do have some time as long as I stick to local driving. That was a relief to have the option to accumulate some money again. I have called around and compared prices, and they are even, if not cheaper than competitors. Fear not! You are not being price gouged!

One day before my next scheduled oil change--roughly three months later--the oil drain plug completely fell out while I was driving on the parkway. Every warning light came on, the engine lost all oil, and it completely shut down and was destroyed. My mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed the drain plug had fallen out while driving. It had clearly been undertightened/improperly torqued during the last service, slowly seeping oil over those three months until the vibrations on the highway finally vibrated it completely loose. Whiting Auto Center was the last shop to perform an oil change on this vehicle, yet they are denying all responsibility for the catastrophic failure caused by their work. A routine oil change should not result in a destroyed engine. Their failure to properly secure a drain plug and their refusal to take accountability for the resulting damage is unacceptable. I strongly advise taking your vehicle elsewhere!
