Just got back from picking up my car and had to post about what a great experience I had. I have a high mileage commuter econo box so I'm careful about what I spend in repairs. My clutch went and when I got estimates for replacing it I was surprised by how high they were and how "extensive" I was told the repair needed to be. Since the value of the car was less than $3000, spending money on unneeded repairs made no sense. Scott Cohen (at this Mavis shop) has done other repairs and maintenance for us and even though it's a bit of a hike I decided to give him a call. Wow is all I can say. Less than half of what the others quoted and he was able to resurface the flywheel. I truly can't thank him enough. An honest guy in a business not know for it. The repair was as promised. Done on time and in budget. The store is clean and the staff is very polite. Definitely worth 5 stars. read more

I drive a Tesla Model 3. Apparently you should lead with that when you stop in for emergency services at tire shops. This was the 3rd location I went to, to get one tire plugged. I was relieved when Bryan did not treat me like an incompetent woman like the guy across the street, and quickly mended the leaky tire. Excellent customer service and cost efficient! Called to have them swap out my old tires for new. They said they couldn't balance 22 inch rims?! I totally get that they are on the bigger side, but aren't they standard for most larger suvs?! But they did say that if I wanted to stop by they could asses and trouble shoot how to handle this?! . What a joke! read more

I have been using Mavis for a few years. Started out as basic oil changes, then new tires. My wife's car recently had a nail in it. They fixed her up right away. More cost effective than dealer. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

ABSOLUTELY terrible terrible terrible service and they take no responsibility. If you don't know what you are doing then QUIT! Took my car in to get new brakes and when I started to drive, all of my lights turned on the dashboard and my car was acting weird while driving. I spoke with someone on the phone he told me to bring my car back. Once I left the place they called PRETENDING to lose the key and the NEXT DAY I called telling them I wanted to check the cameras and they called my momma saying "oh they magically found them sitting on the counter." They then ignored all of the phone calls on the 3rd day and called on the 4th day my car is still sitting there and said oh I need to pay $475 for my front wheel drive. Mind you, when I brought my car into the shop it was PERFECTLY fine I only needed new brakes. read more

Waiting is what you'd expect, your typical tire shop. There's a TV, a water cooler and a restroom, that's it. Not that many chairs and it smells of rubber and grease. This ain't your nice dealership waiting area that's for sure. That being said, I was in the area and overdue for an oil change. Mavis got the job done! I wish they didn't mislead me about the wait time (man on the phone said no wait, that suddenly changed when I showed up 10 minutes later). There was also a good 30-45 minute delay to procure wiper blades. That's a job I should do myself but what can I say, I'm lazy sometimes. Still, don't make an upsell, have me accept it, and then tell me you don't have the product in the store so the wait will be nearly as long as it was for the oil change. Check the website for coupons. There's a decent diner down the street to kill time. I'd go back, it's a lot more affordable than the dealership and they did do the job right. read more

Made a 10am appt for oil change only and decided to wait there. After sitting for an hour of not working on my car, again, for an oil change, I left. Ridiculous it would take that long. It gets better. I later got a call telling me I needed a new battery but they hadn't even checked if I had a problem with my alternator. Wouldn't that be the first thing to check? Ok, they checked and no problem with alternator but needed new battery. I mentioned my battery is only 6 months old so they said it must be defective. I took to the original place. Battery is fine. They noted that the battery was tested at 550 CCA (I got a copy of Mavis report see picture) but the battery is marked 640 CCA (see my blurry picture sorry). Because Mavis tested at 550 instead of 640, the battery failed. Why would they test at the wrong level and tell me I need a new to buy a new battery? Hmmm. Not going back there again. read more

I would give a 0 star review if it was possible. I would avoid this place at all costs. My recent service visit cost me a new engine and no one is willing to take responsibility for their negligence in terms of failing to secure the drain plug for the oil. I have video evidence that it fell out and caused oil to leak all over my engine. My 2022 Honda has been out of commission for over a month leaving me with a rental car and two small kids to get around. Forget contacting customer service I spoke with one manager Ellis for the Berlin NJ area and all I get from customer service is that we will reach out and someone will contact you back from higher up. Well it has been a month of me trying to get my call back from someone higher up and no response so I have to contact a lawyer to try to recoup the loss of the engine because this company will not take responsibility for their negligence. Absolutely awful customer service. I will never take any cars here in the future and recommend anyone considering it to go elsewhere. read more

For those who may not want to read this very long review, here's the short of it -- I would not come back here. They were all about up selling and they lied about damages done to my car. So, I get there first thing in the morning yesterday (Friday, September 11, 2020) after catching a flat tire I got from hitting a pothole, hard, the night before. My first problem, in retrospect, was being honest that I hit something hard the night before and believe that's why I have a blown tire. Immediately the store manager approaches, initially thinking he's here to help the front desk gentleman who was on his second day of the job, but quickly found him trying to get me to buy everything. I came in for a FLAT TIRE and no lie, he was like "How are your windshield wipers?" I said "My wipers are fine." He proceeded to tell the guy to add to the paperwork, things like "Check his brakes, check shocks... he'll need an alignment. Check his..." and the list continues. Oh, and they tried to get me to rent a car "Because I know you have things to do today." A few hours later I get the call from the mechanic, Angel. He jumps in stating I broke my struts in the rear and they have to be replaced in pairs, after sharing the price of $229 for EACH (red flag for me - if they have to be replaced in pairs, why would do you give the price for one?). So, I need two struts in the back replaced because they're broken, but he also said I needed to replace the front pair, too because my car would be unbalanced. Then he said I obviously needed that tire replaced which is $130 but he'll give me his discount for $90 each... yeah, each. Because I need to get four new tires. Oh, and then I need an alignment. Totaling $1,200 of repairs. I'm honest with him -- I can't pay that right now. I'm going to make a call and call him back. He said if you can't afford it, we can get you our card so you won't pay anything today and it's 0% interest for the first year. Thanks... I call my uncle. Explain what he said. My uncle was mad but knows how mechanics love to up-sell, especially to people who don't know about cars. He tells me I can just get my back strut and that one tire replaced. So I call the gentleman back and it's the store manager who answers telling me he isn't trying to up sell me and it's just what I need. I let him know I can't afford it and play the "My lady and I are expecting and we just got a house." He chuckles and says "I understand" and passes the phone to the mechanic. The mechanic is PISSED. His entire tone is different. He's talking crap in Spanish to another guy while on the phone. And I tell him what my uncle said and that's all I need. He's mad and tries a little harder to convince me I need to get all he said done. Then he's like the price for the one strut and the one tire is $486. Bruh! How is one of four you originally tried to sell me, minus the alignment also, still $486? So, again, let me call my uncle. He hangs up on me. He calls me back maybe like 15 minutes later (mind you, I'm at work dealing with this back and forth on the phone) and tells me "Okay, look it doesn't make sense to get just one strut and one new tire. You car will be all off balances and it's dangerous. You'll be okay not getting your struts done (but wait... I thought I broke my struts?) and it's better for you to get four brand new tires and an alignment. It will be $560." i respond I'm not paying more. Just give me what you said at that price. He replies "I'll give you the four tires and the alignment for the same price of one strut and one tire at $486. That's taxes and labor included." Okay, so it's been a long review already. Basically we kept going back and forth and I kept calling my uncle. Honestly, I caved. I was over it. I couldn't really afford it and wasn't having a good day but my uncle said to get the four tires with the alignment for the $486 because it's not a bad price and I did need new tires, especially with winter coming and a baby on the way. So I did it. I get back there at the end of my work day and they said the price is $516. And the mechanic nor manager came from garage. I told the guy at the desk "I'm not paying more than what I was told." He went back, spoke with them, came back and adjusted the price. I said thank you and left. It was just a terrible experience, with the exception of my initial interaction with the front desk guy on his second day of work. The mechanic lied, tried to sell me everything and up sell me, gave attitude, hung up on me twice, and then wouldn't even come face me when I came to pick up my car. Oh, I forgot and they also tried to sell me a rental car for the day. Don't come here. Scam artists dressed as mechanics. read more

I've been getting tires here for many years, back to the when they were called STS. I've never had issues before. Let me say that I'm happy with the tires that I bought. Pricing and installation were fine. I made an appointment one week in advance online and called a day or two later to make sure I was all set. When I showed up for my appointment, it was like they were not expecting me. It was almost an hour until my car was pulled into the garage. I'm pretty sure they didn't have the tires on-site when I arrived. I ended up there for close to 3 hours. The manager did offer a free oil change for a future visit, but no one said anything to me while I was waiting. The next day, I received an email from Mavis saying they were sorry I missed my appointment and did I want to reschedule. I double checked the address. Maybe they didn't want to send me a review questionnaire. I would still recommend getting tires here, but call ahead and schedule in person. Do not trust their website. read more

Got a tire from them in January they charged me 400$ got another one in march (same kind of tire) and asked them to put new wipers on my car and they wanted 477$..... these people will try and rip you off take your money elsewhere ‍oh. And it took 3 extra days for my tire to even come into the shop the guy said he would give me a "discount" and gave ne a card for a free oil change tried telling me its an 80$ value....holman infiniti charges 70$ tell me how thats cheaper. Definitely feel like i got taken advantage of but hey if buddy really needed that 50 extra bucks he couldve just asked lol. My time was wasted and i was bumming rides to work for an extra 3 days and then on top of that this guy charges me extra. After waiting for two and half hours for an estimate that they said would take an hour at the most, they gave me a list of 8 things they said needed to be fixed. None of which were mentioned by two mechanics that I'd just taken it to...that I trust. While I'd been waiting, I heard them try to up sell every customer, and change their story with another customer when he insisted that his tire could be fixed. They said it had to be replaced because it was unfixable. They also said he needed all new tires. They changed their story when he insisted, and it was fixable. Dishonest people will not get my business. Often I saw the mechanics standing around talking instead of working too. read more

LONG, BUT PLEASE READ TO THE END I had to have my truck towed there because it wouldn't start. They said they would need to put it on a diagnostic test machine $117 whether I had the work done there or not. It said I needed plugs, coils and wires $604. I gave them the okay to go ahead and to also do a brake job, another $170 and I was told the truck would be ready by 6:00 PM. When I went to pickup my truck I was told all the work was done but It still wouldn't start. They would need to put it back on the diagnostic machine and find out why, but not today they will be closing in another hour and would have to wait until tomorrow and that they would call me. Next day comes and no call from Mavis, I call them to find out the story and they tell me it needs another part. I ask how much? They say they don't know and they can't find the part. I tell them to call me when they do know. No call that day. No call the next day. It is now Saturday and I have to call them, they tell me my truck is ready and to come pick it up. When I get there the bill is over $1400 !!! I was expecting $800 - $900. I ask to talk to the manager and I told him I never authorized any additional charges. He lies straight to my face and tells me he was standing right next to his technician when he called me. I was outraged but what could I do, I needed my truck back so I paid them. The truck does start so I leave to go home but the brakes feel like they are worse than before, the pedal is going close to the floor. When I get home I call Mavis customer service and leave a message for the regional manager explaining the situation of unauthorized charges and dissatisfied service with my brakes. He does get back to me on Monday and after I explain the situation again he says that he is sorry that I didn't understand what was going on with my truck but expains that he was at the store when my truck was being worked on and in fact he was standing right next to the store manager when he called me with the final charges and tells me I got a big discount and if my brakes aren't working right I would need to bring it back in and that I probably need a new master cylinder. Keep in mind they never called me even once throughout this whole process, I had to initiate contact every time. The best he could offer me was a free oil change some time but not this week because they are very busy. In summation, this shop does bad work, is dishonest and unprofessional. It seems that management has a script for covering each other's asses with their lies. I would never use their services again and I will continue to warn anyone and everyone. read more

These guys are awesome. I'm currently planning a big move that will require me to drive to get there so I wanted to make sure my car was road ready. They currently have a deal for $69.99 brake pads. Preparing to spend money, I went in today to get the brakes looked at. Christopher, Vince and the whole team double checked my brakes, rotors, etc to find I didn't need any service done. They even showed me so I could see for myself. Most places I've been to will charge you an arm and a leg just to get a broken light bulb changed but they were honest and upfront and didn't try to up-sale me anything. All of that and I didn't have to pay one red cent.(Helpful so I have more money for my move!) Not to mention, I was out the door within 20 minutes start to finish. Great service!!! I arrived Sunday morning with a flat tire the guy at the reception desk (apologies I forgot his name) was welcoming and right away tried to help. In less than 45 I was ready to go when everything was fixed. I had to come back for a message showing on my screen for traction system problems after an hour and once again he helped its best and solved the problem without charging extras even though the problem was completely unrelated. I dropped my car off at 1pm. For 2 new tires and back drum breaks. 2 hours later they call and tell me that on top of the $395 for tires it's going to be another $590 for breaks. I was shocked and said. Wow that's crazy! The manager Mike says, "Well you don't have to get it done then!" I said excuse me if your the manager why are you giving attitude to customers? This made him yell and be more aggressive. I said just do the tires not the breaks...4 and a half hours later it was still not done. Mike did not give me an update as I sat there. After having to ask a mechanic outside when It's going to be done, I go to pay and began telling Mike I wasn't happy with the service. He then cut me off, talked over me and said. "I think we can agree we were both wrong here, and I'm not gonna stand here and argue with you." What!? This place is very unprofessional and ridiculously slow!!! Would not recommend. read more

I brought my BMW to the Mavis Shop at West Berlin NJ 596 Route 73 North for the first and last time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY!! I advised the service manager that I had a slow leak in my run flat left rear tire. Manager said they would examine but probably couldn't repair a run flat tire. I advised the manager that the tire was under warranty and if they couldn't fix just provide me with a receipt stating same. Manager said I would have to leave my car for a few hours. A few hours later the manager called and said the tire was repaired at no cost. Manager advised that the store was closed but he left my key fob on the car's console with the doors unlocked. WTF. I immediately retrieved my car and the next day the tire again went flat. I checked the marking that I had placed on the inside of the tire and discovered that the tire had not been removed. What type of company waste a person's time by having them leave their car for hours, telling the customer that the tire was repaired when all they did was put air in the tire. This type of deceit is systemic, and I would not recommend this company!! read more

I called in panicked because I had a nail in my tire and it was going flat FAST. I spoke to Steve who told me to bring it over in the next 5-10 minutes and he'd get to it right away. I pulled in and they brought my SUV in within minutes and I was back on the road within 15 minutes of it entering the service bay. They saved my day!!!! read more

This repair shop is a must miss the supervisor's Angel and Peter is very unprofessional. These two guys harassed me verbally told me that I can called the Mavis Corporate office to complain and that nothing will be done about it. I took my SUV to the repair shop 3 times for the same repair and my SUV is still not repaired. I called Mavis Corporate office and I spoke with Carol and Ellis I filed a complaint still resolution. This Mavis is located on Rte 73 in Berlin, NJ. Carol and Ellis is at Mavis Corporate office this Company is the worse that I have done business with in Years. My rating is a 0. Additionally, when I called the Mavis repair shop I spoke with Peter earlier that day about my SUV repair issue when I called back later I was told by Agents that Peter left for the day. When I arrive at the shop at Mavis Peter was at the Repair Shop. The Agents lies for no reason to get out of taking care of the customers repair issues. read more

I called on Wednesday to make a appointment. They said my tires would be in Friday and on Saturday I could be there at 8 to get them installed. I showed up at 8 and counter rep seemed too busy to help me (even though I was the first one there) and could t find my appointment. Then he told me just leave the car and he could have it done in a hour. I called in a hour and he said my tires wouldn't be in until 11, and the guy who was doing them wouldn't be in until 12. I then came back at 12 and they said they had too many people and wouldn't be able to get to me today. After complaining about showing up at 8 that morning the guy at the desk said he would fit me in and make me a priority. Oh and my tires still had not showed up. I went home and waited, and then called at 4:30 because I know they close at 5. They said my tires had not come. I was most annoyed that they didn't seem to care to let me know anything and it seemed like they didn't care if I got my tires done there or not. I went to Tires Plus down the street and they took care of me. It was also cheaper there. I would not bother with Mavis Tire at this location ever again because their customer service is in the trash. read more

Great experience and service. I got a nail in my tire and drove in without an appointment. Chris took my information and got me almost right away without any hassles at all. They checked the tire and kept me informed on the progress. They did their best to patch it but it was too close to the sidewall. I had to purchase a new tire but appreciated their efforts to save my original as had a great deal of tread on it. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

I was really stressing out about where to take my car for a front end alignment and 4 new tires...back to the dealer or another tire center..both of which I had issues. Totally took me for a chump just because I'm a female. Asked to have my wheel alignment checked... they told me they only check by a road test. Ok. 2 hours later guy tells me I need new tires and that my brake pads were 90% worn. Both false. I had brand new tires so I knew something was up. Called Max's auto place thankfully they squeezed me in. Not only did the tech at Max's show me an alignment was never done but also showed me I had only 60% wear on my pads and I was safe from a sudden blow out . Thanks for nothing you jerks. read more
