In all fairness I just reviewed another Mavis, I've gone to a few, so as I said previously, stay away from Mahopac, stay away from Pawling on Route 22, the one on Route 9 I wish I remembered which one was also fine,this one was fine the manager Dante was pleasant and accommodating I got what I needed at a fair price and no up-sell. My dealings with Mavis wasn't a good one. I went there for a wheel alignment, and when I got the car back the car was worse then when I gave it to them. I took it back and was told that a machine aligns the car that I must be mistaken. I insisted they do it again, it took two tries just for a wheel alignment. A waste of time and money they are. I bring my car to change tire at Mavis. They change the tire, but leave a slow leaking problem on it. 2 weeks later, I bring back the car for trouble shooting. The Marvis guy say it is the car tire sensor cause the leaking and they charge me $60 to replace the sensor. This is not reasonable. The car tire sensor wasn't cause any leaking before. Why it turns wrong at Mavis's hand? How ever, after the second fix the tire sensor light is still on. It should be off after miles of driving. It seems the problem will never be fixed at Mavis. I feel so disappointed with their service. read more

When it rains it pours. That is a truism. And for the last two weeks, it's been pouring on my head. First there's a leak behind my shower wall, then my oven goes, then my computer, then my car battery, then my refrigerator, then a big cabinet... This is no joke. All in the last two weeks. Add up the $$$. I did. It's a lot. Merry Christmas. (But hey, we're not trying to escape Syria so I am able to keep some perspective.) It had been a long time on some balding tires and I knew I needed to replace them. We are driving to Indiana tomorrow. (Insert joke here) I was going to get this done before one of them blew out too... So I went to Mavis. I'd bought tires there several years ago. It was a fine experience but nothing that warranted me writing about it. I got some new tires there. Everyone was friendly and cool and they got me out in a relatively quick manner. Donte, who was running the place at the time and was very nice, told me - as I was racing out to get my kids - that I needed new brakes on the back end of my vehicle. "Great. Of course I f*&#ing do," I think. "Every other f*&#ing thing is breaking down." So I left there with new tires, but anxious and unhappy about yet more expenses. If I had a waterbed, you better believe it would have sprung a leak. Anyway, I went back there today and I wanted them to look at it again and I wanted a more complete explanation as to why I needed new brakes. I didn't feel anything or hear anything o make me think this, but I wanted to hear what they said and I wanted to look them in the eye as they said it. Harry, who I've dealt with before and is the main guy there, showed me what was happening and explained it to me. Donte was right and I got my new brakes. The job ended up being a lot bigger than I had expected - and it took a lot longer than I thought - but the bottom line is that I trusted these people and fixing the brakes on my car - and all that entails - is an important thing. Every layman's big fear of an auto repair place is that they're going to get screwed over and pay for a lot of unnecessary stuff. Unfortunately, that fear is based upon experience for far too many people. You are not going to have those fears realized here at this Mavis. These are some good people - professional, friendly and helpful. I will not hesitate coming here again - and neither should you. read more

came here for a wheel alignment and tire rotation. by far the fastest service I have ever received from a shop. I came in, asked a price, got a good one and my car was up on the lift in less than 5 minutes. I have a modified suspension and they had no problem what so ever doing the alignment to my specs as opposed to the manufacturer recommend specs. the shop and employees are very well organized. great experience. read more

Everytime I have come to Mavis for any type of service seems like they always fall extremely short of their 90 minute wait time they promise. This is my 3rd time having my breaks done and waiting 3 hours after been told it won't take more then 90 minutes. In today for 4 new tires. Ordered online and scheduled my install appointment. Harry is in charge of the shop area. Very pleasant, helpful and courteous. All charges were as expected down to the penny. Told it would take about 90 minutes to install/balance my tires. Got a call about 50 minutes later to say all done! Let's call it an hour. Nice waiting area as well as other shopping/food available in the area while you wait. Inquired about the rebate available on the tires I purchased and the clerk went online and printed out the rebate form for me. All in all a very pleasant and smooth visit to this Mavis location. I saw a deal for brake pads on their website for 60 for front or rear pads. I thought it was a good deal so i went there. The service was pretty good. The mechanic or someone in charge lifted my car and pointed out everything that was needed repaired, and i think he was fairly accurate. My car is 10 years old so it does need some work, but at least i was not being ripped off. I got the front and rear pads replaced. It took about 2 hours, but it was busy so it was not too bad. I would go back to this place for brakes or other basic mechanical repairs. read more

After a very friendly start not sure If going to a small gas station probably faster. I was told 45 minutes to fix a flat. Fine. After over an hour the tire on my car was just now removed. Guys on the floor move at a glacier pace there is not discipline or sense of urgency for customers. Another four customers are already voicing their displeasure and they all got here after me. All this is unfortunate because the front desk guy is cool but the floor guys diss him after he instructs them on a customer request and turns his back. 90 minutes and still here. read more

Even though my car had just been inspected elsewhere and had no issues, they told me the brakes needed to be replaced and the calipers were rusted. They charged nearly double what it should cost to be fixed. Looking at the other reviews, it seems they do this regularly. Well, first of all, their shops looks impressive and you'll expect great service, but unfortunately, from just four visits, I've two unpleasant experiences, one neutral and one good, disappointing result ... The good one costs me more money but was with exceptional customer service with great credit goes to Dani in Parsippany, NJ shop, the second visit wasn't good with someone else at the customer service desk !! The other two visit was to Boston road shop in Bronx, NY The bottom line here, they claim they are the no 1 tire shop in the US and yet they don't train their staff how to deal with customers, courtesy and customer service should be at the top of any business goals, machinery and technology, branded products and discounts are available everywhere. read more

I had a tire blow last winter and found them just off the highway. They had me in and out on a Sauturday afternoon in one hour with two new tires. They warned me of other things I needed to watch, but did not insist I do it at that time. This past weekend I dropped by to have them take a look at a thumping noise that I thought was tire related. They drove the car and removed the tires but found nothing wrong. They charged nothing for their time which is unheard of in Manhattan. Anthony shook my hand as he handed me my keys. read more

I haven't purchased any tires from this location, but it was a kind act from the owner that inspires this review. I arrived with my daughter at 5:57pm as my car had suffered a flat. I wasn't aware that the store closed at 6pm and although they had every reason to turn me away, they asked the last remaining worker to stay and fix our tire. We ended up leaving after 6pm of course, but there are many other businesses that would've looked at the clock and have told us to go somewhere else. It wasn't an expensive purchase, but with gestures like that I'll give a place 10 stars. read more

You know the only quickest way you get in, and out of a Repair Shop is by being there early in the morning. First one at the door. But I Think you get in and out much quicker if you go in two hours before the Shop gets ready to Close, and maybe even one hour before the store closes. Those Employees be doing there job because obviously they want to finish up to punch out on time, and go home after a long day. read more

I needed an appointment to get my breaks done and I usually come to this location. I recently moved to Connecticut and don't know the area well so I made an appointment for this location at 2:30. It took an hour to reach this place but I got there in time. Got to the desk to check in for my "2:30 appointment" but to my surprise they wouldn't take my car due to the walk ins in front of me, as well as only having one mechanic that was working on the cars. Not only was it a waste of a trip, Their customer service was horrible. Dante the manager would not compromise with me and made the statement "there is nothing I can do for you" ! I was more then upset and appalled at how I was treated. I will never recommend anyone to this location. The head manager Harry was on vacation Dante told me as I asked for his bosses information. Terrible place! I went there because I had a flat and to inquire about new tires. Dante who was at the front didn't even greet me when I came in or ask what I needed help with. Instead he spend way too long talking about nonsense with another customer. When he finally does serve me he tells me to move my car in. Which I did and then he moved it again. At this point he still doesn't know why I'm there. I ask him if he has the tires I want and he says they're not in stock. He didn't offer to order them or look for another Mavis location where they may be in stock. When I said this guy doesn't want to help he became irate threw his hands in the air, said he wasn't going to help me and stormed off! At which point I spoke to the manager who was also useless! I wouldn't have Dante at the front end of any company representing any business. He is rude, aggressive and extremely unprofessional. I've been to several mavis locations throughout the years and I'm disappointed to say it appears there is an obvious management problem at the 5760 Broadway in the Bronx. While having a good experience at any Mavis has become a hit or miss proposition, it seems there is a lot of stress between the main manager(who apparently has been there for 25+ years) and the technicians as well as the other service representatives. They do not behave well in front of the customers. Leaves you feeling like there is too much animosity between them and you worry that it effects the quality of the work done. This is my fourth time returning to this location for the same work order. Terrible. They are sinking fast in my book. Too bad mavis has a stranglehold on the tire market in the New York area, so there's not a lot of competition these days. Going forward however, I think I will skip doing business with this particular location. You may want to consider it as well read more

Manager Harry Melikian, who used to be a nice, reliable tire dealer has turned into a dishonest hustler of unneeded repairs. He now tries to shake down every customer to buy new struts and get a brake job. When this tactic failed with me, during wheel alignment, my car's left-side tie-rod was found to be "frozen." Replacement was "necessary." (By the sheerest coincidence, someone else in the waiting room also was told his tie-rods were frozen! An epidemic?) When I balked at replacing the more expensive inner rod and wanted to take the job elsewhere, without informing me, he had his mechanic replace the outer rod and the alignment was completed. I insisted on being given the replaced part. My regular mechanic confirmed that the repair was unnecessary. Avoid this place like the plague! read more

After me going extensively over an order on the phone to replace 4 Michelins with P215/R55 93V they took the car, and replaced the tires, charging me for them. After I tipped the service mechanic $5, I go outside look closely at the details before driving away and see they only put on P215/R55 94H, which are rated for less speed and are cheaper. Once I pointed it out, they said put on the different tires (after I had already been there 2 hrs rather than the 1 hr they said it would take). I took the $40 refund instead, given that the tires are very similar and given that I was out of time. I WON'T use this business again. I posted this the same night. The next day I took my car to the Lexus dealer, and had them look at the brakes, during a 70K checkup. They told me I had 6K miles still on them, which for me is at least one year of driving. Mavis had told me the front brakes were very low, strongly implying that they needed new pads. If I had not known I would be going in for a checkup the next day, I probably would have replaced them, one year early. This just confirms someone else's review that they push, very cleverly, work that is not needed. Again, I won't use them again. read more

Since then, I've had 2 flats. 1 was due to a nail, the other due to a defective value (2 years after purchase - and no fault of theirs).
