Do NOT go to this shop for anything important. I have had my emissions inspection done there over the years but never anything major. So, a few months ago my wife was driving the car and the check engine light came on. She was on her way home and called me so I said, stop there. They had always been nice. Days went by, we paid $1500 for new cylinders and they still didn't fix the issue. During that visit I kept getting notifications on my phone that my battery was low. I kept asking them what was going on. Finally, they gave up, told me to come get the car, and I realized they had left the lights on all of that time, which is why I kept getting the alerts. Took the car (Mercedes) to the dealership - fixed in one day at zero cost. Riverdale Auto Clinic FAILED to accurately diagnose the issue, and charged me $1500 for it. Wait, it gets better. This week the battery needed to be replaced (I wonder why). Once again, my wife was driving the car, stopped in. They replaced the battery, thanks, I suppose. I guess they thought they were being nice by washing the car but LOST THE FRONT PASSENGER floor mat. How does that even happen? So, now I'm buying new mats because they are giving us the run around and not doing what is the right thing to do and replacing what they took out of my car, without asking, and lost it. I brought my 2018 Chevy Equinox in after it failed to start due to a dead battery. I paid an outrageous $189.50 diagnosis fee and received a vague, handwritten diagnosis of "Possible Engine". This shop did not provide any supporting technical data (OBD-II codes or test results) to justify this cost. When I stated I would not be proceeding with repairs there because the "Engine" diagnosis did not coincide with my prior AAA report (which clearly showed a charging system failure with low voltage), the staff was visibly unhappy and unprofessional about my decision to take my vehicle elsewhere. The true issue, confirmed by a second independent mechanic, was a straightforward failure of the alternator and battery. This shop incorrectly diagnosed a serious "Engine" issue when the problem was clearly the charging system. I lost $189.50 and valuable time due to this vague diagnosis and poor service. They told me I needed a brand new engine and tried to charge me $3,995.00. In conclusion it was my alternator and battery that needed changing. Which only cost me $795.00. Riverdale Auto Clinic has no idea what they are doing! I took my car in for an inspection. They told me that they couldn't do the inspection because my side windows were tinted. However, since I have side rear view mirrors that I only needed to remove the tint from the front windows. The next day I had the tinting removed (after it being there for 14 years) and returned to Riverdale Auto Clinic. They had me wait for over two hours to tell me that the back windows had a tint and they could not successfully pass the inspection until the tinting on the rear windows was removed. I reminded them that the law states that if your front windows have outside mirrors that the law says that will suffice even though the rear windows are still tinted. They said I was wrong and the legal definition on the state inspection website was wrong! These individuals didn't know shit. In addition they drove my car off the lot for a good amount of time just to come back to say the windows were tinted. Either they are completely stupid or they thought I would pay them to remove the tinting, that wasn't needed, to make more money for them. Whatever the case I would never trust this third rate auto shop again. They lie and they don't even know the laws governing the inspections they provide at their location. Please help spread the word that the Riverdale Auto Clinic is not to be trusted when looking for competent auto repairs/inspections!!!! read more

We contacted the office of Riverdale Auto Clinic and the receptionist told us to come right down and Jimmy would take care of us. Well, we thought it might be a exhausted pipe loose or a heat shield. We drove in and Jimmy told Jesus to take a test drive. As soon as he started the car....he heard the rattle and put it right up on the lift. They fixed the heat shield's bolts etc and we were on our way. This place and Jimmy has been in business for 65 years and we hope they stay in business forever. We just found our local mechanics. I've been a fan of this service center from my first experience eight years ago. Full service, mechanical repairs, body work and car wash. Everyone I have dealt with was friendly, honest and straight forward with their estimates. Free car wash with every oil change. No plying games with the amount of oil used, you only pay for what is used not the odd amounts that might be left over depending on the vehicle's capacity. The body shop did a first-rate job on a minor repair and fender trim replacement part. I am always amazed by the number of exotic cars they are working on; Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW and even my Mazda. Total care to make it as good as new if not better. Recommend paying with cash. The car wash has just been totally redone and they do a good job on the interior. Can't say anything bad about any of the three groups. I do miss seeing the General Jimmy. They offer to drive me home if I have to leave the car and pick me up to, and they have done so a few times. Today they knocked me out--I think I may have mentioned to Joe that I needed to get the car washed when the maintenance was done, and when I came to pick up the car I decided I'd blow it off for today, come back another time. Well, Joe had my car washed and vacuumed and done to perfection when I picked it up FOR FREE! I was so touched and pleased I called them back just to say thanks again. They are significantly overcharged me to change my car Oil And after they changed my car oil, I drove my car home the oil fell out and they pretend to add more oil to my car and they didn't. I needed to buy more oil in Auto zone in order to be able to drive my car. I ended up pay them to change the oil and to buy more oil myself to add to my car. Beware To check Out they job and make sure you ask them to re-check to see if they really close the screw and the oil filter is not damaged and tight after they drain the oil, because what happened to me it can happen to you as well. I approved some repairs and signed and then they called me with a large number of other repairs without telling me how much it would cost. They repaired a 21 year old car with almost no value and charged more than $4,000. Never went to a garage that was not owned or recommended by a friend. This is my first time being on my own looking for service and it was as pleasant as it could get. I was worried that I would be ripped off, but I was treated fairly, inspection was done quickly, and no services were being forced on me. They were very nice about everything and treated me with the courtesy and lip service that a dealer gives you, but here it was backed by action and honesty! Walked in around 8am to get the inspection and car checked out. The gentleman said it would be ready in an hour. I was a little hesitant because that's awfully long for an inspection. I left to find a place to eat breakfast and keep warm. I wasn't even done with my coffee when the gentleman called me back and said everything was done and referred to me by name. A very personable character. It was just past 8:30am that everything was done - the keys, receipts, and tags were attached and delivered! Very quick and reliable service. The gentleman also recommended I brakes and rotors changed and said it would cause the symptoms I've been experiencing - basically read my mind. He quoted me a fair price for my car knowing that it is a German make. I'm not sure about the parts they use, but in any case it was affordable. There was no pressure, just a friendly suggestion. The last time I went here for smoke coming out of my exhaust pipe, I was told I needed to "drop the gas tank and clean the lines" at a total of $2,000. Took the car to another mechanic who said my oil was overfilled, drained some oil and everything was fine. In the past, this place charged me to fix my air conditioning and it never worked the same but they insisted it was fixed properly. I should have paid attention the first time. Called and asked if I could wait around while my car got an inspection, oil change, and front brake pads. The older gentleman, Jimmy, said the service would take approximately an hour and I could happily wait if I'd like. Made an appointment, and brought my car in. I purchased the best brake pads I could find because my vehicle is a lease, and will be going back in October. I know some service centers do not like it when you bring your own parts, but I figured, I would see how he reacted to the situation. Car passes inspection no problem, its a 2012 Nissan Altima with only 32,000 miles. I asked for Synthetic Oil as per OEM specifications, and he charged $70 for the oil change. Pretty average price for synthetic. Jimmy called me in to the shop, and with my wheel off showed me that my current brake pads were still at 50% and told me I can wait. I liked that. The honesty that you don't see to often anymore. I told him that I'd rather just get it done, and he agreed. You don't meet old school guys like Jimmy anymore. The Joe (may be one of the boss of this store) charge me three hour labor for alignment but almost do nothing and lied to me they did what they can do best already. I have to ask them do it again next day. This time much better but still vibration on 40 MPH. Their excuse for can not do better job is my car driver side lower control arm not good. I order control arm from website, and ask them to replace it. One of the front desk lady said she do not know how much should charge. She went inside and bring few people come out. They all told to me change one side arm is 7.6 hr labor, so need $765. I finally know they are gangs, swindle money is their job.
