10 years. Been coming here for 10 years. You would think there would be some resemblance of customer loyalty to someone who's been coming to an establishment that long, right? You would be wrong. I recently went in because I was an experiencing a sound underneath my 2010 Honda CR-V every time I hit a bump or hole. They looked and said I needed new lower control arms and rear-front assemblies. Final tally: $3000. I thought that was a little steep so I took the car to my uncle - a Honda mechanic for 35 years - 2.5 hours up north. He took a look and told me that not only was the suspension perfectly fine, but the problem was the flange of the B-Pipe tying into the muffler was rotted out, causing the pipe to sag and flop around - hence the sound I've been hearing. Ironically enough the mechanic at Central Tire failed to notice this problem. Needless to say, I will never be going to this place ever again. They will never get another dime of my money - not even for a tire plugging. Makes me wonder how much money they stole from me over the years but no sense in crying over spilt milk at this point. read more

Horrible horrible horrible long wait this morning with my Autistic child. I got there at 8am per my phone call with the person that answered phone the day prior. Was told they could put my license plate on the front. I waited 2 and a half hours (one of those hours I took my son yo the park). Called for a status update while at park & was told my car was still not worked on. I spent another 30 minutes at the park before heading back to mechanic. I saw my car still sitting outside with no work bring done on it. I go in with my child & wait more. An hour & 10 minutes passed & still no work on my car. It's literally parked in the same spot from when I got there at 8am. I inquire about the time frame & was told I have to wait for the only mechanic they have to try to put my front plate bc no one else can do it. The only mechanic they have for this hard task finally shows up. He tells me he can only put my plate with zip ties bc they don't have the parts. They have to order the parts from dealer. The guy from the previous day's call tells me he didn't know I wanted my plate up with brackets & they can put my plate with zip ties. The rage that exploded within me. I will never give those people my business after this ordeal & while having my special needs child with me. Completely unprofessional to make a person wait that long for a mechanic to zip tie a license plate. So you gonna tell me no one could zip tie my plate in the morning, when I first got there, if you didn't have the parts for my car? It had to be that one mechanic? Horrible injustice. I will make sure my whole family & friends stop going there. Incompetence at it's finest. read more

In my experience,very few auto repair businesses do the NYS annual inspection honestly. Most use it as a tool to generate extra income at the customer's expense. I love these people! They always treat me with respect and make time for me. I got off work early today because of the impending storm so I decided to stop procrastinating and take my car in to get the oil changed and brakes checked (I knew I was oooover due on the brakes). I knew bad news was a coming. I was told they'll probably won't have it ready til Sat morning because of the weather and parts delivery etc. I said ok and was all tuned up to take public transportation to work tomorrow morning to LIC. I got home decided to chill and relax. Soon after they called with the damages (a tiny bit less than I thought). I gave the go ahead. Well, a few hours later I got the call my car is ready. I went this shop for the first time today because I had a flat tire. I found a nail in the tire and replaced with my spare tire. They fixed my tire within 30minutes, and charged a very small amount of money. I actually called the dealer for a quote before and went to another tire shop too, both of them were too greedy and want to charge you $300 to replace the new tire. Used them several times, never had a problem up until today. Came in early in the morning with a rear caliper, and a set of rear and front brakes to have installed. Told the guy that I was hearing a noise in the front and sounded like a rotor, and if they can be ordered. He said fine, and it was going well, or so I thought. THREE hours later I get asked to go up and said the price is going to be $482(including oil change), which I thought was a little steep but whatever, everything was going to get done. That's when he hit me with this price quote didn't include the installation of the front brakes, or the price for the front rotors, and installation cause he only ordered rear rotors(I can only imagine how much more it was going to be). I was baffled and told him that I came in with all parts ready for the install, and a problem with my front rotor. He got agitated and just told me That he'll have the guy assemble it back and I can go, which I agreed. Heard the guys commenting stuff like "let him deal with it" and laughing. Ended up leaving and got it all done without a hassle, and at half the price that these guys wanted. WIN!! Also, would like to note that my TPMS sensor came on after leaving this place, which the other place fixed, and wouldn't put it past them if they used the same old filter for my oil change. read more

Everyone is very nice - what frustrated me was: 1. I came in and they didn't have the parts to fix my car. When I came in the next day like they told me, it still took almost 2 hours to replace a filter. 2. When I walked in the waiting room the door was kept wide open and it is the middle of December! I was freezing!! 3. The tv in the waiting area was turned on ridiculously loud and on a gory, bloody movie. I was trying to get work done on my laptop and take business calls and all my callers heard were swear words and gun shots. I really wish that they're were a little more aware of who their clients were. read more

It is such a positive experience every time I get my car serviced - unlike many of their competitors where it's such a hassle. Not only is the team awesome, they are very, very honest and reasonably priced. On several occasions I've asked "Doesn't my car need this?" or "Should't I replace that?" and they've told me "No, not necessary". The facility itself is well kept and spotless. The waiting area has plenty of seating and a large TV. There are also several restaurants within a block or two, if you prefer to grab a bite while waiting for your car. My friend who lives in the area recommended Central Tire to me when the shop I had gone to for years closed it's doors. They did some small work for me like brakes and oil. They got it done fast with very little wait. The invoice was well presented and included advice for other work needed and a quote for my next visit. On another occasion I had my check engine light come on so I brought it in to have it checked out. I was told that it was most likely a sensor and that sometimes with my car Make (Honda Pilot), just resetting it could do the trick as it cost over $100 to have it fully diagnosed. One of the guys who works behind the desk (all great guys) came out with a small handheld device and was able to read the code and tell me what the exact sensor was. He reset it for me and told me to come back if it came on again. He did not charge me (he could have) and was very informative and polite. Turns out the sensor came on a few days later so I made an appointment to have the sensor replaced. The cost was reasonable as I had done my research as to the approximate cost for this job. A week later the engine light came back on again. I brought the car back and they replaced the part free of charge. The engine light stayed off for a week and then came back on again so I had to go back a third time. They told me that this time they would replace the sensor with a genuine Honda sensor and that if that did not work I would need a new computer board. They replaced the part again at no charge to me and it worked successfully. I was so happy, and very surprised that they did not charge me anything. They stood behind their reputation and they did the right thing. I can't speak highly enough about Central Tire. Nine times out of ten you would get ripped off in this type of situation at other shops. Thank you guys for your honesty and excellent service. Pulled in here by chance after getting a "Low Tire Pressure" warning on my car. I was on my way to work. They were packed, all the bays were full. But they got to me within 15 minutes, found the nail, plugged the tire and sent me on my way, all within a half hour. They were helpful and friendly and very inexpensive. I've made multiple trips here and my company spent more than 6 grand on repairs, in which most of the work was done exceptionally. BUT...We went to service the doors that weren't properly opening on one of our vehicles. When I come to pick our vehicle up, the latch door, which was the biggest concern, was not repaired when it clearly stated on the invoice "REAR DOORS NOT WORKING." I go inside and without any back and forth conversation, I was told "The part is $400." I know he didn't look it up. He just wanted us to leave and discourage the repair. A few minutes pass and a rep comes outside with an attitude. "Remove the vehicles from the property. I never want to see them again." Great business model guys. You are making a lot of money from us, but you throw a fit when you get one objection on your work that is, in fact, your own fault and oversight. Take some responsibility and pride in your work, but more importantly, be professional about it. read more

I had spent over $4000.00 with central tires. With in 2 year time period. But went came to my AC Compressor. The screw me over. $734.00 the part and labor. The part was $350.00. It only takes a hour in labor. Stop working after 12 months. I was so loyal. They didn't want right there wrong. read more

Felt comfortable. Even though I was a bit lost on where to park. I just parked in front of the store entrance after turning around in the back. No one made me feel like I was out of my mind. I was driving through New York on my way to Philadelphia on a Sunday afternoon when I had an emergency issue with my car. Luckily it happened within sight of Central Tire and I was able to safely get my car there. Within just a few minutes they had my car up on the rack and showed me the problem. Although not one they could fix, they explained what was wrong, what type of work would need to be done, and what I should expect to pay for it. In the meantime, they were able to make a quick adjustment that enabled me to to get back on the road with instructions regarding the precautions I should take as I drove. They had me in and out within half an hour and only asked me to pay the lift charge. As a woman, alone, in a vehicle with out-of-state plates I expected to be stranded there while an enormous bill piled up. The reality could not have been further from that - fair, honest, and fast.
