I don't like doing this, but I feel I have no other choice. I am very concerned with the service I received yesterday. I brought my vehicle in for an oil change and to have my brake pads inspected and replaced and to take advantage of their special for brake pads and installation ($99 for cars; $109 for larger vehicles: trucks, SUVs, etc.). I made an appointment the night before and brought my vehicle in early to drop it off and pick it up later in the day. I informed an attendant at the desk that I was there to take advantage of the special they were promoting on their website and to have my oil change. I also added a pair of front wiper blades. I dropped off my keys & vehicle, and headed home to wait for their call. Later that day I returned a missed call from them and had the following conversation: Me: "I see I missed a call from you guys. I dropped off the Nissan Rogue earlier today." Mavis Rep: "Yeah, Mr. _____. Your car is in good shape over all. We looked at your brakes. You're not in danger if you took it in for inspection, but you're about 98% worn in the front and about 90% worn in the rear. We can take care of that for you." I told them to proceed and they informed me that they would call me once it was ready. Here's my reason for concern. I calculated what an estimated cost would be. 2 pairs of front and rear brake pads at the higher price of $109 installed + $30 for wiper blades + $70 for the oil change puts me at around $350. I return to Mavis to pick up my vehicle and pay for service and am quoted $730+ for the cost. I asked for an explanation and was quoted the items I listed above in addition to ROTORS I NEVER ASKED TO BE REPLACED. I've owned vehicles for over 3 decades and am well aware of what it takes to fix brakes. At times you just need pads; other times you'll need rotors as well. I get that. What I don't understand is why, when speaking with the gentleman at Mavis about my car, did he NOT mention that my rotors needed to be replaced, especially when my reason for the visit was to take advantage of the brake special they're running. It would've been nice to be informed that my rotors were in bad enough shape that they needed to be replaced and at the very least give me the option of having all or some of the work done. That didn't happen. I've taken vehicles to Mavis for the past 12 years. Never have they left anything out when informing me about work that needed to be done on any of them. It is a normal practice for them to discuss with me what needs to be done in detail and I decide what services I would like them to perform. Again, that didn't happen this time and that leaves me a little suspicious as to why. If I come in for brake pads and you see I need rotors - tell me that instead upselling me work and parts I did not approve and only to find out when it is time for me to pay. I am taken aback by this. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I feel duped and taken advantage of. I am a rideshare driver and there are items in my vehicle that identify me as such. I am beginning to believe I was targeted because of this; knowing that I need my vehicle for work and would readily pay whatever cost it would take to keep me on the road and my passengers safe. I hate to feel that way, but I've heard stories of things like this happening with other rideshare drivers. I just never thought it would or could happen to me considering I would be taking my vehicle to someone I've trusted for over a decade. The Mavis location mentioned is 1855 Rte 6 in Carmel NY (10512). I've witnessed a high turnover at that location over the past 5 years and wonder of this new crew is a little less considerate or honest as their predecessors. read more

Iv'e spent thousands of dollars over the past 5 years at this place. But why the hell did I go back there to get my suspension replace, I must of been High. I wished that I knew someone that could of kicked me in the dick for going there. My truck was making a clunking sound on the right side everytime I went over a bump. So I took it to them. Too make a long story short, I spent 1600.00 bucks for several changes. Great right. Thinking that I made the right decision, I was happy. WRONG! They called me at 8:30 to tell me that they broke my power sterring hose and that they need to keep it until the next day. 5 minutes later some other jerk called me and said the truck is ready. WTF? I was just told you didn't have the part. Anyway, I picked up the truck and guess what, still clunking. Now its 4 weeks and they said its a bushing. and they want me to pay for it. F U mother-F_ckers. My wife drives my daughter in this car. U do not give a rats ass about saftey. only ripping off customers. And the worst part is that there is no one to go to. Terrible and NEVER again getting my business! Unprofessional! Made an appointment online on Tuesday for Thursday. Called Thursday to confirm the appointment and to confirm the tires I chose were in stock and ready. I was assured they were. My appointment was 5:00 pm. I dropped car off EARLY at 4:30. I was NEVER TOLD It would not be ready until the next day (leaving your car overnight and being without a car would be something you would have to agree to). By 7:30 heard nothing So called to to see if ready. They said they would try and get it done by closing which is 8:30 PM. Five minutes later I get a call back saying it wouldn't be ready but that it That it would be ready the next day. I Explained to him i needed the car and that I Expected the car completed on the same day. I said I made an appointment online. He said well there's your problem. (are we serious. Why have that in it as an option if that was the downfall of my whole experience). Keeping in mind I called to confirm at 1:00 pm. I stated that this is unacceptable. He hung up on me. Immediately went there was met by a guy with a beard (don't know name) told him I didn't appreciate being hung up on. He pointed to a guy in another room and said oh it was him Charlie. We said OK can you please go get Charlie. In comes Charlie and I said I don't appreciate being hung up on and Charlie says I didn't hang up on you it was him meaning the bearded guy. Enough said! Saw the same customer in the parking lot waiting that I saw when I dropped my Car off at 4:30. Here it was after 8:00 pm and he was still standing there angry as well. This place is a joke. My husband brought his car to the Carmel, NY location to get a flat fixed and they forgot to put the donut back in the car. He was getting something out of the trunk two days later and realized it wasn't in there. He called and they said that they hoped it was still there. We did get the spare back. But they told us to make an appointment to get an inspection for Saturday morning at 8am and when he showed up at 8am it was going to be 3 hours. I called and complained and they told him to come back after his doctors appointment at 11am and they told him the same thing it was going to be 3 hours. I made an appt to have parts installed, drop off Saturday and pickup Sunday. No rush. The parking lot for drop off was ridiculous! That's not the worst part. Sunday morning I get a call telling me there's nothing wrong with the part I asked be installed but it was another issue. To bad they were looking on the wrong end of my car!!! They insisted the parts on the rear were fine also. So I said save them for me. They called letting me know it was ready and I was right the part was broken. Go to pick it up, no old parts, a work order with service that wasn't requested. There will be a formal complaint to bbb and corporate. Never going there again. I came here at the beginning of winter to get snow tires put on the car. After being told over the phone to come right in, I was told at the counter it would be a while (ended up over 3 1/2 hours in the end). Once the tires were on they told me I needed an alignment as well. I asked why exactly and was presented with the rudest blow off. The mechanic just told the guy at the counter not to warranty my tires and let me go. I left a bad review with Mavis when I got the satisfaction email, was called by corporate, and given $50 off my next visit to keep me as a customer. Well, it's now my second time here to use that coupon. I had new wheels I wanted my summer tires put on so I could swap out the winter wheels. I called again, was told a 60-90 minute wait, got here and was told a couple hours. I left everything there and left to run some errands. I returned three hours later and they didn't even touch my wheels yet. So I sat there waiting for my turn. They said, "sorry, we're busy." While waiting, I noticed a woman come in to pick up her car who came in as I was leaving to run my errands. Also, a man waiting in the waiting room said he'd been there for 2 1/2 hours (more than an hour less than I had at that point) whose car was just being finished up on the lift. Still, my wheels hadn't been touched. I ended up sitting in the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours, 5 1/2 hours total from the time I dropped the wheels off until my car was ready to go. This is absolutely unacceptable. That's it for me. You don't take appointments but you make people sit around and waste half of their day just for wheels and tires to be mounted. Either hire more people or start taking appointments. Either way, I'm never coming back. If not for the $50 off I likely wouldn't have ever come back anyway. Be warned! If you have half or more of your day to waste, go for it! Otherwise, I'm sure there are plenty of other places in this area that can do the same job significantly faster! read more

I arrived early 11/22/20, first customer at the door. I still waited 2 1/2 hours. Every time I looked in the work area the mechanic was either on the cell phone or smoking. When I questioned the time it takes to replace four tires and that I had an appointment, I was informed that its not really an appointment per se its a date and that the mechanic had to finish a car from the previous day. In the beginning the person who initially wrote my order started the up sell, without asking she assumed they were doing an alignment, I explained that my current tires do not have any uneven tread wear and that if Mavis was installing new and properly balanced tires there should be no need for an alignment. When the vehicle was finally ready a different writer was getting my paperwork written up, here we go again with the up sell. Tacking on tire repair insurance, tire disposal fees, o-rings on each tire. When I told him I had a quote and none of that was included he tried to justify the extras. Then he said well I needed the o-rings which they never told me and I did not authorize nor did I want to argue the point. Then he said the tire disposal fee is normal, but again I said if should have been part of the original quote, next he said I could take the old tires and dispose of them myself. I found a roadside warranty offered by the tire manufacture FREE with the purchase of 4 tires. Mavis never said anything about that either. Thanks Continental. Stan H. read more

Believe it or not I went in to do my front brakes and they actually told me I didn't need front brakes that I needed pads for the back I couldn't believe it because I always hear they tell you, you need something done to your car when you really don't. What a disaster! Terrible customer service and I felt taken advantage of because I am a woman. I went in with an appointment and a tire with a slow leak. Mavis wanted to sell me four new tires and told me my treads were bad - the car is a year old. After debating on what to do, I asked them to show me the tire with the leak after they pulled it off and I would make a decision. At that point they told me they could no longer see me for the day, how convenient, and I could come back the next day. I will not go back to Mavis, nor will my family or friends. Was given run-around. I called on a Friday morning and was told they have the tire and asked if I could come in that day. I said I'd come in Saturday morning and made a definite appointment for the morning. When I arrived at the appointed time I was told the tire wasn't in and that it's being driven up and should be there soon and they would call. 5 hours later I called them again and was put on hold for 10 minutes so I hung up and called again when I was told that as soon as some one came back from lunch (it was about 2:30 pm) the tire would be mounted on the wheel It is now 4:30 pm and no one has called They close at 5:00pm. Horrible service and kiana ( acting manage ) if that is even a title is rude, unprofessional. Went in for a tire repair and left with a transmission issues . Was told they would look at the camera. Then told I came in with car trouble based on the camera . Said they will give us a code of what's wrong but couldn't fix it on top of expressing a million times that all they did was fix the tire. They never looked at it because when I asked kiana at 12:30pm what time will they be able to look at since we first spoke at 8:30am and no one has given us a call back. She again went on a ramble of it's not their fault etc.. and it appears we pulled in with car trouble based on cameras. I called head quarters to place a complaint but still waiting on Scott training assistant district manager to call us back. Well we picked up the car and followed the directions of our mechanic and was able to reset the transmission. Not sure what cause it but we certainly had no issues when we pulled in to fix a tire. Let me tell you about my wonderful experience at this particular Mavis location... I did a month+ of research for new tires for my car. I settled on a pair and found on-line that Mavis had the best price. I called and got their answering service who told me that the Carmel location was the only one who had these in stock. I got pricing settled and agreed on with their answering service. He transferred me to the Carmel location where they confirmed that they had four tires in stock. That was 9:30 am and told them I would be in around 12:00 pm that day. I walked in at 12:05 pm and he told me that he only had two of the four tires as he just sold two of them. I drove 30 minutes to hear this crap. I spoke with the manager of the location and set up an appointment for the following Thursday. I would be taken care of right away and be out in two hours. I arrived that Thursday at 5:30 pm and dropped my car off. They were pretty busy so I had no faith. I called them at 7:30 pm and they didn't even touch my car yet which made me really annoyed. He told me it would be done by 8:30 pm when they close. I called at 8:15 pm on my way over and was told the car is still on the lift. This is crazy! I got there by 8:30 pm and the car was not completed until 9:35 pm. My wife spoke with the manager telling him how disappointed we were and he then threatened to close the garage door and lock the car in there until the following morning. This is really how you do business? Someone needs to teach this location time management and customer interaction. I will NOT be coming back to this location at all!! read more

Just a warning.....dont go here they are thieves. My son's girlfriend left money buried in her center console, I know not a good idea but one if the workers took $140 from her. When they were confronted they were very unprofessional and kept passing the buck to there Corp office who did nothing. Took my 20 year old car to this location due to an broken exhaust pipe in TWO locations. Was told the car would be looked at first thing in the a.m. (approx. 8am to 8:30am). Checked at 7:30am next morning and it was in the locked garage bay Called them around 10:30am to get estimate - was told still not looked at because of 1 mechanic on duty and backlog from previous day. Did not get estimate until noon. Said the car would be fixed by end of the workday. THEN: They only found the ONE broken pipe location. They didn't even start any prep work on the exhaust system. Then they wondered why the mid-pipe resonator was tied up with a hanger near the muffler! (duh, so ya don't drag and lose a catalytic converter on %$#@ NY state roads! )They did not see or diagnose this second broken pipe! I reckon when they actually lifted the car. up they saw this but didn't hear it? How freakin' long does it take to put a car on a lift to look UNDER a car and trace a car's exhaust pipe line system??? Told me it was tough to source parts for an old car? Ever hear of an autopartstore on the internet for "antique" cars? I'm going elsewhere. ASE qualified mechanic? I think not! read more

He knows his stuff and is always willing to help you out when he can. Service has always been quick compared to other places and the prices as many already know are very competitive. They were always polite, didn't try to sell me on crap I don't need, and had a great turn around time. I actually brought it the day before New Years eve, in the afternoon and they were packed. I can see if they are running behind, but no way am I leaving my car for the day because one of your people decided to call out. I wasn't the only person to walk out. I had just brought my car to this Mavis to get my two front tires replaced, as they were balding. When I had the tires put on, I paid an additional $36 for a lifetime warranty on all four tires. Thinking my front tires were covered under warranty, I brought my car there only to find out the warranty is measured by "tread depth" and I apparently did not have any depth. When it was time to pick up my car, I was informed I also need two new front strut mounts because both of mine are broken, as it states on my receipt. Also on the receipt it states it would be $190 per side for quick struts. Since I only needed the mounts I figured I would pay $30 dollars for the mounts and have a personal friend of mine (who is an experienced mechanic) install them. He pulled out both front mounts only to find that they are almost brand new aside from a little bit of dort and dust. Which is expected considering its a 17 year old car. Mavis is a rip off. I feel that because I am a young woman they are trying to scam me and rip me off. I will NEVER be returning to this place again. read more

I used to come here all the time and sadly i will NEVER return. today I took it in for a inspection and when I returned to pick it up I notice I had some valuables stolen. When confronting the manager he never once's apologized for what was occurring and I ended making a police report. Do NOT come here or if you do be sure to remove and valuables in the car. Just went in to have "Death Wobble" fixed on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Was quoted price on trac bar, the only part that several experts on You Tube suggested I needed. Adam, a manager was very helpful and professional ( and Big Anthony) . Andrew was the mechanic involved and I felt like I had a NASCAR mechanic at my disposal. He showed me how badly worn all the front end steering parts were (where my usual garage thought I was exaggerating) and took personal pride in making vehicle safe. Job was done for less than half the quoted price from the dealership where I bought the car (including 2 new front tires that were not in dealership quote). Wonderful service. Dropped by because I had a tire blowout and this was the closest tire place. I was borrowing the car and Mavis didn't have the specific tire that the car owner wanted, so they took my wheel off and put on the spare. (There was some pressure to buy a different one, but what do you expect at a place that sells tires?) It was a weekday afternoon so the place wasn't too slammed; they took care of me in 15-20 minutes and sent me on my way. read more
