I tried to give this place a second chance but will NEVER return after the experience i just had. I had an appointment for 8am for an inspection. My car was not taken in until 9... and was not done until 10. I have never had to wait over 2 hours for an inspection. I overheard the guy telling a complaining customer that an appointment is only a guarantee that your car will get done that day. I have never heard of something like this in my life. He said they have no idea how many appointments they will get, that they just got 25 appointments the night before plus walkins. Not sure why you would take 25 appointments if you do not have the capacity to handle that. At 9:30 the guy came out and told me everything looked good on my car and it passed. So then why did i have to wait until 10? According to the manager by law it has to take an hour... So my car was just sitting there for 30 mins?!?! I brought in a vehicle for work, REPEATEDLY confirmed the cost of the labor over the phone. We agreed to a price. When I came in to pick up the vehicle, they had MORE than DOUBLED the cost of the labor. I eventually talked them down to DOUBLE the price we had agreed on. Absolute f***ing lying grifters, and everyone I speak to about them says the same. I've made the mistake of going back to them in the past despite knowing this, but I will NEVER bring my car back to them for ANY reason. I wouldn't trust this place for a spit shine. read more

I came in for a tire rotation and was told it would be 10 minutes. My car was on the lift within that time. Unfortunately. one tire was taken off in the first few minutes but the rotation was completed two hours later. The mechanics spent a lot of time smoking, chatting, playing loud music, and basically doing not much of anything. This Mavis is unprofessional and I recommend no one bring their car to this location. This should be a wake-up call to the manager. read more

I brought my car in for an alignment. They pulled the car in and then I waited for them to finish. Before I paid, I asked for a printout of the before and after measurements only to be told that printouts are not available. Upon my departure I noticed the wheel needed to be cocked to the left in order to drive straight. When I returned the next day the claimed to have readjusted it and when I went for a ride I noticed the same exact, possibly worse, steering wheel angle. Returned again to be told that they could not center the wheel unless I bought a new steering rack. WTF kinda place is this? They claim to do alignments but they can't center a steering wheel? Mavis of Carmel, NY - YOU SUCK!!! I'd give them no stars if that was an option. read more

call center not reliable! wasted 30 minutes of travel time after being told they could do an oil change within the hour only to arrive and be told it would be 1 1/2 to 2hrs. i guess they are reverting to their old ways of doing business! only started going back 4 months ago after i heard they changed management & were now "great". won't go back again. read more

My college age son took his car there for an inspection and after a 30 minute inspection of the vehicle, was told it needed 4 tires, rotors and brakes or it wouldn't pass inspection - $900 in all was the estimate. Mind you, he first went to Chris's Automotive (who are FANTASTIC) but they couldn't fit him in but made him an appt for the next day. He took his chances with Mavis as it was his day off and just wanted to get the inspection done. As it didn't pass, he kept his appt with Chris's Automotive and they checked the car for a full hour, top to bottom and; brakes - fine; tires - fine; rotors; a little rusty, but to quote "it's an old car" (2002 Mazda). They did find that there was a problem with a part in the headlight, fixed it and the car passed inspection. I honestly feel Mavis was trying to take advantage of a college age kid and will never go back. read more

Very unhappy. This is the third strike and was silly to go again. First strike my Daughter brought her jeep for tires. Leaves there and within a couple of minutes she pulls off road. Lugs never tightened. Thank God she realized cause tire was on the way off. Younger daughter gets tires and leaves. Next day driving car is shaking like crazy. Goes back not balanced correctly. Now I go- believe me we used to love this place. My car is still there. They replaced an unnecessary tire sensor that I never authorized being replaced. All I wanted was an oil change and my snows on. Won't be going back. Fighting about car now with them. read more

Unbelievable! Tried to charge me $250 for rear brake pads and rotors.....that I had done (here) in December 2014 (and they have a lifetime warranty). Was told multiple times I only had front brake pads and rotors done in December. When stressed strongly to them by my husband over the phone that I had all done, they "all of a sudden" found it in the computer. Charge ended up being $70. Big difference! I had a positive experience there with my car a few years ago. Not this time! Took my highlander there for tires yesterday. I made an "appointment" the day before but I did not get a time slot, just an "appointment." I'm not sure what that means to have an appointment, but no time slot. I felt the salesperson was rushed and not knowledgable about my tire options. I told him that I wanted a tire similar to what I had. He sounded like he was guessing when he made a recommendation. He then called me on the phone an hour later to upsell some brake-fluid. When I told him I was not interested, he got agitated like I was making a big mistake. After about 2.5 hours, I paid and left feeling like I got lack-luster service. I googled the tires that I got and found them cheeper all over the internet. Then I got a call the next day saying that I needed to come in that day to pay the correct amount. It turns out that their cashier rang me out for the wrong amount and charged my credit card $1,028 instead of $1,082. Instead of eating their mistake, I have to go in and settle up due to their error. I will not go back! UPDATE 1: After writing the above review I went back to pay the additional $54. Charles, the Service Manager was most accommodating and gave me a coupon for a free oil change. He was polite, professional and apologetic. I felt a little better after leaving, but was still miffed about having to return to pay an additional $54 for their oversight. UPDATE 2: The following day, the Regional Manager called my cell phone to discuss this review on Yelp. He too was polite and apologetic. He explained that that they value me as a customer and told me that my experience does not meet their expectations for service. He explained a little about the training program that they have and told me that he would send me a voucher. He gave me his cell phone number and told me that if I have any trouble in the future to call him. Very professional. UPDATE 3: I just got an e-mail from the "Brand Ambassador" of Mavis due to this review as well. I have not yet contacted her, but I appreciate the Mavis management trying to correct my experience. I have increased my rating from 1 to 3 stars. I am not sure if I will return, but I appreciate Mavis's attempt to patch things up! read more

I took my car here to get 2 new tires put on, an alignment, and an inspection. I called the day before to make an appointment, they said they had the tires in stock, and was told I could bring it in the next morning. I told them I would be there around 9:30 am, and I was. I dropped the car off and was told it would take a few hours, so I went home and waited for the call. At 2:30pm, I hadn't heard anything so I called them only to hear that my car hadn't been touched yet. 5 HOURS LATER, NO ONE EVEN LOOKED AT IT. What is the point of making a morning appt if no one is going to look at it for 5 hours?!? Its 3pm and I'm still waiting. the guys were nice enough and I hope the prices are ok (haven't paid yet), but I can't say I would return here. read more

Place is a joke! Took my car to get inspected after getting numerous things fixed in order to pass. I had been to another joke of a Mavis the day before and fixed EVERYTHING that caused me to fail that time. They mentioned NOTHING that this place brought up. Being disgusted with the prior location, I went to Carmel because not many places are open on Sunday. Parking is terrible there, and a safety inspection took over 4 hrs! They ended up failing me trying to get me to pay over 200 something I can do for 20...and that was just the start. I have NEVER brought my car to a mechanic as I do all of my work myself. I have rebuilt my engine and many other things and know EXACTLY what is and is not wrong with my car. I don't need people who dont even notice or care that my radiator fan is missing to tell me if my car is safe to be on the road, then try to rip me off in order to give me that ridiculous 20 dollar sticker so that I can drive to work. Also, when picking up my car 30mins after their call informing me of my "unsafe vehicle" (aka, their sales call), it took them another 30 mins after I got there just to get my car off of a lift. They obviously don't care about the safety of the car...just how much money they can try to weasel out of you. I would give zero or negative stars if I could, and will be taking my car to an actual mechanic to confirm that it is truly road worthy. I will return there to get my windshield wipers replaced (as I watch carefully) after I pass inspection tomorrow, just as a giant FU. On second thought, I will have to check over the car again after having these clowns wrenching on it. Have a nice day crooks. read more

well today i called up mavis tire about there price buster cause i found tires cheaper then what they were asking . i found starfire rs c2.0 205 55 r 16 for $56.71 free shipping from pep boys online.Mavis is asking $127.00 carry out no installing they say the best they can do is $79.99. i ask him why that is and he said that is all he is authorized to do and it says CLEARLY they will beat any price . i said to the guy on the phone well thats false advertisement and he says i know . Their own employee says he knows its false advertisement. it fits all there requirements for the policy.so now im waiting for a call from higher up .not to mention most i see them tires for online is $78.00 and they charging $127 so how is that buy 3 get one free when they charging you $50 to $75 more then any were else cause what they over charge you for the 3 isjust like paying for the 4th if not more for it ? read more
