This location/company lost my trust. I got a nail in my tire and because it was located "near the curve", I was told by Eric I needed a new tire. I have a jeep wrangler so they used my spare tire on the back. I told them beforehand that although the nail was there, I never recieved notification on my dashboard. They also informed me that they were unable to patch/plug it in. they were experts/truly experienced, they would've tested the tire for Air, but instead they swapped out my spare with the "nailed tire" and told me I needed to pay over $300 for a new tire. Andre did the swapping. I just so happened to be passing by another tire shop in the area and they told me that the nail didn't penetrate the tire and that a new tire wasn't necessary at all. They also informed me that had mavis tested the tire, I would've saved time ...and money. Mavis just wanted to make a quick hick instead of retaining a loyal customer. I had a phenomenal experience at Mavis before, which made me want to come back for a full tire change and all the services. I let the front desk know as I was dropping off the car that I will be done with work at 6. He did not let me know that I will be unable to leave with the car after 6, and that it is locked up and I can't pick it up until 8 AM tomorrow - which I can't even do until around 3 PM for my break during work. On my husband's birthday, with plans afterwards, I was unable to go home in my car, or even go inside it because I didn't plan for my house keys to be locked up all night. I understand that Mavis also closed at 6 but knowing that I would be left without a car, and knowing that I would have to make alternative plans would have made this so much easier for me. I got a call close to 5:30 that my car was done - which leaves very little room for me to also make changes before it closes to have my car picked up before 6 during my work hours. What was a 15 minute wait for Mavis cost me over $50 in ubers just to get home on time only to have to wait for my husband commuting from NY to open the door to be able to feed our pets - late. It was a very, very upsetting lack of communication, and very disappointing. The regional manager saying "i apologized twice" after interrupting me twice over the phone was the icing on the cake - never going back again. read more

Do not use this company! They have nearly destroyed my car with faulty work. They did a faulty job putting in a new faulty starter unnecessarily which caused damage to my flywheel and fusible link. This is just the damage my new mechanic has discovered so far. I had to replace their bad starter with a new one and replace the fusible link and battery as well. As I was pulling out of the garage, early Sunday morning, I was greeted with the dreaded low tire pressure warning light. Getting out and taking a look, I saw a screw, but not a regular one, this was a hex screw, a biggie. Mavis is less than a half mile from my house, so I drove right there. The staff was friendly, took care of me right away, even though they had a packed garage, with cars on lifts. I ended up needing a new tire, which was fairly priced. I came here to have my tire serviced since it was a new tire and kept running out of air. They determined quickly what the problem was and were able to fix it. My car rides more smoothly now and I haven't gotten the alert about low tire pressure (although it hasn't been a full day yet). I thought the prices were reasonable and the service was friendly and very professional. However, the wait time was very long for this particular job. I had an appointment for noon and I wasn't out until 1:30. They originally estimated only 20 minutes but they were running behind. Went in for nail in tire on weekend. Told rep all I wanted to do is plug the hole. 30 Mins later, they came back and said tire cannot be plugged and that all 4 of my tires needed to be replaced -$700+ dollars. They gave me a quote for new tires and offered to replace them same day. I told them drop my car and I'm going elsewhere. Also not sure why I go in for a tire plug and my hood is opened up like they were checking something under my hood. Any how, went to my usual local repair shop. $10 bucks plugged in and out vs the $45 Mavis said it would have cost to plug. read more

So I had a nail on my tire and I go to get help and this lady ask me where's the nail on the tire and I tell her she says we can't help you go to a mom and pop shop. Aren't you a tire shop shouldn't you see the problem and then say here are your options getting a new tire because this isn't fixable. But no they just turned me away and didn't help me at all. I don't recommend this business to anyone they don't know how to conduct business they must be a front for something else. Absolute amazing service! I had the worst issues with the location in Closter. This location here in Fort Lee is super organized, helpful and persistent with timing too. I have had nothing but the best experience here, I felt safe with them. They reassured me about my tire, alignment, and braking system. They showed me what was wrong with the truck and showed me the old pieces that were broken in my truck. I love that experience where I can actually learn about my car. Because I am a woman and I think it is important to know some little things. I drove the store prior to it opening and Mavis diagnosed the problem (defective valve) and repaired the tire before their first scheduled appointment of the day showed up! My first (and probably only) review will be for this excuse of a shop. 0 stars if that was an option. I brought my car in for a wheel alignment at 12pm and leave for about a hour until I get a call back from them saying my car is ready. Great, that was pretty quick. I headed back to the shop and paid. After I paid, I asked for the wheel alignment report to which they responded they'll "see" if they can reprint it. 2 minutes later they hand me a paper with only the measurements after the wheel alignment stating that their computer was broken and didn't have the measurements before the wheel alignment. I left for about 5 minutes and while in my car, read the report and noticed the top left of the report was ripped off. That's when I realized they literally RIPPED off the top left that contained the date and time of the wheel alignment. Putting two and two together, it meant they just gave me some old report that was obviously not mine. I went back pissed and confronted them. They couldn't even utter a single word except "oh the steering is still off? We'll take another look." Laughable. 30 minutes later it's done and I get a before and after report. They couldn't bother to even do a 30 minute job and had the nerve to lie to me in front of my face. Get this, they even asked me to leave reviews on google and the survey they emailed me. Next time you try to scam someone, make sure you rip off the entire top left so I wouldn't see the "AM" part of the time which is obviously incorrect since I brought my car in after 12pm. How utterly stupid do you have to be that you can't even scam someone right? 30 minute job for $170 and they didn't even want to do it. Lazy and stupid. What a combo. read more

I needed my license plates put on ( got new car kept old plates) the women at desk asked if I had the bolts I said yes she picked up the electric screw driver ( drill?) walked outside and did in 5 minutes or less. First time here. So I make an appointment online to have my tires done. I called in to see if they have the tires in stock. I asked the person to give me a quote and he gave me a price that was basically $200 higher than what I was getting online. I asked the guy why such a huge difference he said you know I don't know why is the difference so just get it online. I decided to make the appointment anyway because I do need the tires and they are the closest one to me. so at this point is more convenience than anything else. So I make my appointment it's been over a week sorry it's been a week and it was at 9 AM so the very first appointment available. Of course I'm here on time I get logged in I went out for breakfast across the street an hour later I come back and the car is still not being worked on. I went up to the front desk and the guy at the front desk tells me "we had a ton of work from the prior day and no one wants to work." It seems to me like the one thing you have plenty of is excuses. I shouldn't have to be here making an appointment for a time and not be taken care of at that time that's a disrespect to the value of my time. Besides, this is the reason for an appointment I have an allocated scheduled time however you do not honor it. it's none of my business what you were not able to complete for the same reasons that you do not do your work on time and everybody is slacking starting from the old guy at the front to the guys at the actual vehicles unbelievable. Finally 1005am one guys starts the work. Takes my wheels off the cars and then off the rim. Then he disappears as I'm writing this review we're going on 20 minutes and he is MIA. Comes back finally. Not the happiest campers but who blames them. They started to install the wheels back on without checking or doing an inspection of my breaks and or suspension. I Literally asked them if I can inspect my suspension and breaks myself. This place needs a lot of improvement and it's all start with a complete overhaul of the staff. They need to replace every single one of them. Because any individually new person you bring will easily be corrupted by the existing staff. If the owner works here then it is he who allows these and many other profit losing behaviors. If he doesn't work at the site then he needs to take some advice. You might think of this as a negative review but you should think of this as a favor that I have actually pointed out all of their problems in your shop. This was only in a 3 hr span that it took your staff to change out my wheels. I would be willing to update my review from a 1 if these improvements are done. I want to thank Rich and Orlando at Mavis for a wonderful and expectation exceeding experience! Came in for significant brake work expecting a long wait and significance expense. To great surprise, the work was completed in a couple of hours and well within my price expectations. They also informed me of some additional things that could be worked on and those that they felt could be held off. Fully informational and not at all trying to make a sale. I did take them up on a couple of things pre-knowing that they needed work anyway. So frankly, increased my confidence in their integrity. Lastly, one piece i didn't take them up on was to replace wiper blades; felt i had a bit more mileage in the ones I had and declined. Rich overheard, and just threw them in. Thank you for that. DO NOT COME HERE. I don't usually write reviews, but I do not want this to happen to anyone else. The mechanics and the workers get paid commission and do not care. IF you do come, make sure to watch your vehicle. (Do Not confuse this place with Fort Lee Auto Body because of the woman who works at the front desk of Mavis Discount Tire in Fort Lee, NJ. She used to work at Fort Lee Auto Body, too) On Oct 5th, they were busy and I understand, but own up to your mistakes. After 45 Minutes of waiting, the Manager says "All Done, You can't patch the tire again. Have a good day" 5 Days pass and the tire is deflating. I called October 12 and the Manager answered the phone and started getting angry and yelling saying that "I must've ran over another nail" (This is possible, but it was not the case) I actually brought my car to another Autobody and upon further inspection, Mavis Discount Tire in Fort Lee, NJ DID NOT FIX THE TIRE. (I have video proof) I paid $38 for them to put air into the tire. The manager is negligent, rude, and irresponsible. Don't belittle customers and make assumptions.
