Matt was great. I had a rattle from loose splash guards and when I said I thought it was something worse he took it for a test drive which confirmed his diagnosis. When I called later he explained exactly why it couldn't be easily fixed. He was courteous and responsive and gave me the peace of mind that it was not something worse. Horrible. Had used them for years recently, they have just became a rip off. Part changer not actually diagnosed problems. Went for inspection said I need new brakes and rotors all the way around. The changed to to only back need new rotors and brakes. Look at the pictures plenty of brake left, but no lubricant. That caused uneven ware but don't need new brakes. Also they were under warranty from Mavis but I had to tell them that. I ended up telling them to just give it back to me. Never going there again! read more

We had an initial good visit with them. Because of our own fault, we could not get the TPMS sensors to get programed by them. We agreed that we would return at a later date to get them programed When my daughter returned to them they claimed they could not get the sensors programed that we paid them 360.00 dollars for and that they had not had the tool that could program them for 4 years. I contacted them and asked to have the sensors returned and a refund issues and they flat out refused and on top of that tried to feed me a bunch of lies. They will have to deal with my CC company now as I am now declining the charge. We ended up having to go to a local shop here in VA to get this mess sorted out. A BIG POSITIVE YES! Go to Mavis. I cannot say enough positive about this Tire shop in Ithaca NY. I am 74 and was traveling to Ithaca from Manchester. I noticed a tire was extremely low about 15 psi and the other three tires were at 35 psi. I randomly picked Mavis looking on the Internet. I was about two hours away. I told the office I would probably arrive right at quitting time 6 PM. They were friendly and encouraging. I was told no problem and they would take care of me. I arrived five minutes before closing time. I had been on the road for 11 hours. I told the manger I would just fill the tire with air and come back the next day. They said come on in and they would take care of me. In about 10 minutes they had found and repaired the damage, removed a nail, patched the tire and I was ready to get back out on the road to visit family in Ithaca. This little interaction went a long way to restoring my faith and confidence in people. Keep up the good work. This was a fantastic customer service experience. I needed an inspection done right away. I called and spoke to Cole. He found a time to get me in within a few days. I also needed an oil change and tire rotation. Cole was able to also do that while doing the inspection. I was in and out of there in a little over an hour. I couldn't be more pleased. I had a nail in my tire so I went to the Mavis in New Windsor, New York. They told me it couldn't be repaired but they could sell me a $220 tire. I then went to Mavis in Ithaca, New York and the manager George not only took out the nail, he also didn't fraudulently try to sell me a tire I didn't need (because there was no hole!!!) My son dropped his BMW to get tires and brakes done. They could not do the tires because his size was not in stock (no problem, make another appt to have tires replaced) brakes and rotors were to be done...My leaves town returns and catches the technician speeding from the back of the building with his vehicle hitting the large pothole in their lot and when the technician gets out of the vehicle, he's puffing on gadget not realizing my son is standing there! My son confronts him and it was nothing to him. He calls and complains to the Manager who he identifies the technician to the Manager... the manager literally tells my son (I hear the convo) well you hit potholes everyday on the road (my mind was blown) then says ok, he hit the pothole! Like I said he hit potholes everyday! My son said I do not hit potholes speeding or driving fast as your guy did. My son says what about your technician smoking in my car? He said yea I will talk to him about. I have talk him about that complaint! WHAT HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE? KNOWLEDGE WHAT YOUR TECHNICIAN DID DRIVING THROUGH THAT POTHOLE! If something would have cracked or was damaged were they going to say ohhh that was like that???? Place sucks! Get management under control and respect your customers... remember if it wasn't for customers you will not have a paycheck or business!!!! read more

We had a car towed there. Four days later and three phone calls. We still hadn't had any answer on the back tire repair. We drove an hour from home to talk to the staff directly. They didn't have our car in the system. Something to do with communication with the towing company. Once we spoke in person, it seemed like an honest mistake. We interacted with the assistant manager and two other employees. They were all very kind, and helpful. They took care of us quickly and efficiently. Dishonest to the core. The Mavis and Cole Muffler shop are now one business. I went for an inspection and was told I needed $1500 in repairs to pass inspection. It seemed fishy both because I had had the car serviced relatively recently at Honda and because they claimed the brakes were terrible and I know what brakes feel like when they are going. I called my husband, who said we need another opinion. I took it to Mobil One, they looked at it and said all it needed was a brake light. They took pictures of all the things supposedly wrong, none of which were. I feel certain that they thought they could take advantage of a woman who did not know much about cars. read more

Went to buy 2 tires there, per my being directed from an Auto Dealer in Binghamton who had just sold me a car. it turned out that it needed 2 Tires which the Dealer was going to underwrite. Mavis, upon "examining "the wheels informed me that I need brakes because The Rotors were rusty. I declined the solution and brought the car back to where I bot the car. The Dealer examined the car and stated that the brakes were good. However, he found that the Control Arms needed replacement. The Dealer is replacing the Control Arms on his dime! read more

But Mavis Discount Tire was able to get me excellent tires at a good price as well as show me the best sales when i went in looking for tires replacements. Even when it was extremely busy. Terrible customer service! I witnessed a young lady come in to have a tire changed on a company vehicle she works for and they were downright mean, rude and nasty to her. They made this young lady cry! Who treats customers that way let alone a young lady just doing as the company she works for asked her to do....get a simple tire changed! Made an appointment no problem and then when I got there it was nothing but problems. Waited an hour to be told that they weren't going to do the job, fine whatever, but then as I was walking out was told that there was nothing wrong with my car and the service I was looking for was useless. I'm sorry but I am the one who drives my car so I am the one that knows when there is or isn't a problem. Guy at the counter gave me grief for showing up at 440 to pick up my car. They close at 5. We were visiting the hospital! Disappointing they would give us attitude for this rather than empathy after $900 worth of service. We won't ever be going back to Mavis. read more

I can't even give this place 1 star !! My daughter made an appointment to get 4 snow tires mounted on Sunday 9/20 . Her appointment was at 3:00 , she dropped the car off at 1:20 and would be back by 5;00 to pick it up . Well we get back at 4:40 , tires still sit in her back seat !!! We went Inside and the guy at the counter say what do you need ?? Well we need to pick up the car that has been sitting in your parking lot since 1:20!!! He says well we didn't have time to do it .... after letting the car sit , no phone call nothing ! With a blank look on his face !!! This place is ridiculous, no apology nothing !!! I had my daughter go here for an oil change couple of months ago, They strip the oil pan bolt and tighten the bolt so tight, there is no way I could get the bolt off. I had to goto another Mavis to get another oil change done. read more

Do not bring you car here for tire repair. I had a slow leak and brought my car here initially to get it fixed. Sat for an hour and was told they were using a new patching technique. When I had asked the manager what was the cause of the leak, I was told "user error" and nothing else, very rude I think and coming from the manager nonetheless. Not even 24 hours later, my car tire was completely flat. I had to call Triple A to get my spare put on and the guys at Koshiens I believe told me the guys at Mavis had put in an emergency plug and tarred over it. I brought it back and was met with rudeness upon telling the assistant manager what the people who had put my spare on, calling them "kindergartners who only know how to hook and tow" very unprofessional attitude from an assistant manager. This morning (a week after getting the tire repaired again) I came out to a flat again. My neighbor helped me change it and when we looked at the "patching" we saw that this Mavis had pretty much just tarred over the patch again AND they had left a hole in my tire at the patch site! We had a flat tire that we had dropped off at a bigger chain (rhymes with shmister shmire) in the morning who kept promising to get to it "soon" but as the end of the day approached we started fearing they'd leave us stranded... so instead we took it back and brought it up the street to Mavis where they found and fixed the glass shards immediately. Stolen items from my car, and they won't let me see the video footage!!! I left my car with them to check out a weird noise it was making. I had come to them for oil changes and tires before and they were great, but this time I had to leave my car with them overnight. When I came to pick up my car, it had been left in the lot and someone had stolen my climbing gear (worth about $500) and various other small items (including some emergency cash I had hidden). There was no sign of a break in. No windows broken or doors forced open. I filed a police report on the spot. The owner of the building was very helpful and showed the cameras that he had for the premise. He told me they would go through the footage. Several months have gone by, and the police never received the footage. I talked to them and they would not release the footage to me, and put me in contact with someone at corporate who does not answer their phone and does not call me back. So it appears that they either forgot to lock my car or someone in the shop stole them, and they have refused to take responsibility. read more

My experience at Mavis made me physically and mentally exhausted. I pre-ordered four snow tires on their website and made an appointment. When I arrived on time and waited half an hour, they asked me to order two extra tires because I had only ordered two online, so they only had two tires and couldn't replace them for me that day. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and showed them the receipt, which said the order quantity was four. After seeing the receipt, the clerk changed the subject, saying that now is the busiest time of the year to replace snow tires and that such things are common to happen. Since it's their problem to find only two, they offered me a discount but required me to reschedule a time. A few days later, at 12:30 pm, I was here for the second time, and I asked them to put my old tires in the trunk so I wouldn't have to pay the $14 recycling fee. An hour later, they replaced the snow tires. I spent all the fees. However, I was surprised to find a $14 recycling fee on the receipt. The person told me the charge was an "accident." He called the company headquarters to explain the situation and demanded a refund. The other party said that they needed to communicate with the relevant departments. So I sat in the store waiting for a refund call. After a while, he offered to provide me with a coupon. If I am willing to accept it, I don't have to wait any longer. I agreed, so he wrote "One Free Oil Change" on a blank piece of paper and handed it to me. I wonder if such a coupon is valid. But that's okay. I probably won't be here anymore. In this way, I took the car keys and walked out of the store. I was devastated when I saw that one of my hubcaps was missing. I returned to the shop again and asked them why I only had three hubcaps left. They insisted that there were only three when I came, and said that more than one guest had said the same thing before, and finally found out that they had lost it themselves. I asked them for the surveillance video, but they said that the regional manager would only be able to show me the video once he returned to work in a few days. So I came here for the third time a few days later and asked them to find the surveillance footage. The regional manager wasn't in the store, so one guy called him. After a long wait, I received an email showing footage of the maintenance crew pulling my car into the pit area at 12:49 pm on the day of my second visit. I told the staff in the store that I arrived at 12:30 pm, but the video showed me nearly 20 minutes later. He said they did what they should do and showed me the video, and their regional manager was not in the shop, so if I wanted to sit here, keep waiting, but it's none of their business. The tone of his words was so strong that I felt like I should leave. So I emailed their area manager, hoping to get a video of me arriving at the store and parking in the area on the left outside the store. However, the regional manager told me that was what I received. So I replied to the email again, saying that I arrived at 12:30 noon, but the video showed 12:49 pm. After that, I never got a reply. I never said that any of them stole my hubcaps, I just lost them at this place, and I needed to see the CCTV footage of me arriving at the store. If, when I came here, there were only three hub caps, why would you not give me the surveillance video at 12:30 noon? If I'm not the only one who lost something here, shouldn't the merchant reflect on why this happened to so many customers at this store? Just because I haven't had time to write about these experiences for the past few weeks doesn't mean my situation has been resolved or I've forgotten about it. I hope no other customer will avoid spending money on such an unprofessional place with no regard for customer needs. By the way, after discussing, they felt that it was not good to give me a coupon, so when I went to the store for the third time, they refunded the $14 recycling fee to me in cash. I agree that cash is better because I never want to go to this store again. read more

Came to these guys and called ahead with a tire issue being far away from home. Needed to get back home that night but with no help from these guys. This place sent us packing with not too much concern or regard. They wouldn't even look at our car because they were to busy. Really upsetting when you're far from home and can't get back and they give you a stone face look and could care less about anyone. Avoid this place they are heartless and nasty. These guys should get negative stars; they're a bunch of crooks! Cole Muffler and Mavis are owned by the same company. I went to get my car aligned at Mavis and they said I needed a new upper control arm on the right side. A friend of mine who is a mechanic and I had checked it before and thought it was tight but whatever, I had them do it anyways. I forgot to get my inspection and brought the car in a few days later. Mavis was busy so they sent me to Cole, there they said it couldn't pass inspection because the other upper control arm "was bad". This after Mavis had supposedly checked both upper control arms to do an alignment. Since then, I've heard many stories of people being told by these crooks that they need parts replaced that don't need to be. P.S I took the car somewhere else and they didn't have a problem with the upper control arm. read more
