I have had a much better experience at the Mavis in Freehold NJ. Now, the service I got from the Writer Kyle was superb, however what I came in for was to remove a screw from my tire and have it plugged. I came in on a Sunday, which appears to be a slow day since it was only Kyle and one technician (that I could see). There were two people sitting in the lounge when I got there, after 20 minutes their cars were done and they were gone. I was waiting for a simple tire plug, which takes at most 5 minutes. The technician started working on two other cars (whose owners were not waiting in the lounge). In my opinion, the job you know is waiting and takes 5 mins should be handled before cars that have been dropped off. Once the technician pulled the car in, he did it in 5 minutes and did a great job. My best not complaint is waiting 45min for that to happen. I couldn't find the lug wrench to the car, otherwise I would have done it myself. read more

Their technician seems to unprofessional. I hope they didn't steal any original parts from my car or break my car. Last Friday I went for alignment and it took them 1.5 hours. They might have broken something. As soon as I drive off to the highway, the car began to shake and some warnings appeared. I parked the car and call the store. The manager said they had nothing to do with it. And he also said he could take a scan for $150. I responded I would call the police. Then the manager said take the car in and he would check on it. I returned to the store. The manager came with a scanner to connect it to the car. 10 to 15 minutes later, he said it was fixed. I still felt the car was driving funny, but at least there was no warning signals. I drove home. Today on Sunday, I planned to drive somewhere. While I was still driving out of my neighborhood, my car began to shake. This time 2 warning signals appeared. One was to warn me about the stability system and the other was about the pre-collision system. I suspect the mechanic broke something in the brake system, while he was doing allignment. What could possibly go wrong!? He must be very unexperienced to mess up my car with such a small job. I called the store again and another manager of the store told me to bring the car back next Tuesday. Because he said today they didn't have mechanics to do it and he wouldn't be there tomorrow. The B team working on the weekend clearly had zero leadership. One employee was extremely loud and unprofessional and one looked like he hadn't showered in a week. " First impressions " That being said we ordered tires that were to be in by the following Tuesday but we did not receive a call. So we called and they said they were having an issue getting the tires but they should be in within a week. Well 2 weeks have come and gone so we bought the tires from another company. 2nd to worst repair shop experience for me. My normal shop was closed due to family emergency and I kind of need 4 new tires (in stock) and limited time to get it done. The only up side at this Mavis I will say was that my interactions with two staff members (one was presumably the shop manager and possibly the lead mechanic) were cordial and professional and a very talkative fellow waiting customer. I also think I made it out of there paying just above retail, though that's even with the discounted mounting and balancing for my troubles and over the phone quoted price. (Note to self ....always take notes of quoted pricing over phone). Lastly it appeared as the repairer was putting in some real effort (above what I was familiar with) in servicing my tires when he was actually doing the work. I even had $20 tip ready in my top pocket for him until the follow happened.... My main complaint is that the guy assigned to replace my tires, walked away to start other jobs and assist another employee work on another car. All this while 3 others would take several cigarette breaks and shoot the $hit, just on the other side of the waiting area glass exterior wall, where I and two other patrons were eagerly waiting. Later I watched as the guy put the last tire on my car and then just walk away to the far end of the shop, all under the not so watchful eyes of the manager who was sitting facing down all the bays. 10-15 minutes later I grabbed the managers attention when the repairer didn't return and asked how it going. He replied "he's working on the last tire.", I then pointed out that all the tires are on and the repairer left. The manager followed up and for some reason informed me the repairer was doing an oil change?....and why?.... Any hoo I was there at least 45 minutes extra for all the repairer's distractions, at times feeling trapped and that they were doing it on purpose. That's all to say while I don't feel cheated on price but certainly not a pleasant experience as a whole. The shop could really use a better waiting area, employee breakroom and even a picnic area out back, uniforms and an organized shop floor. A more professional look could do a lot for credibility, trust and return customers. Until then I probably will not be back. When shopping keep in mind some places charge for mounting and balancing, some skip that cost when quoting, others are free (included in the price of the tires), and you can also look for life time free tire rotation and or balancing. DO NOT SHIP TIRES FROM AMAZON OR ANY SITE TO THIS LOCATION. They do not put them aside and will put them on any car that comes in. I shipped 4 tires through Amazon to this shop. I have confirmation from the shipper and fedex that the tires were sent and received by this shop. However, when I went for my installation appointment, the tires were no where to be found. Upon further review, they were put onto another car and no spares were left for my car. Now they refuse to provide any tires, leaving me out $600, and cancelled my service appointment so Amazon cannot track them down. Have not be good to work with through this issue either. I had a 9 an appointment to get new tires and an alignment. I was told it would take an hour or so. At 11 AM, I noticed my car was in the same exact spot I had parked it upon arrival so I went to the desk to ask if my car has even been looked at. Apparently they had been taking walk ins at 8 am and then on. When asked what was going on with my car, the manager (I guess) looked at me like I was crazy. By 11:30 my car was still not looked at. I was told it was next (finally). A female staff member approached me with my keys and said my keys were not unlocking my car. I said "well I got here...." And walked to unlock my car with her. She supposedly mis took the wrong Subaru. The cold and unapproachable staff is only one reason not to come here, on top of waiting over 4.5 hours for a job that should've been done at 9. It's also important to note that throughout my whole time there, no updates were given at all. Stay away and save your money. Go elsewhere read more

Went in to inquire about a simple tune-up (plugs, wires, air filter) and got a song and dance about fuel treatments (essentially two cans of STP in the tank) and their requisite $90 up-charge. Final estimate, 700 big ones. Went down the road to AAA and they restored order to the tune of $350. Sorry to see that the spirit of NTB lives on at Mavis. read more

What a constant mess! 3 days to get one tire replaced. What a crock. Given a date of completion- only to find out on the day of pick up that my tire was never ordered. This was after I called. No one called me about any delays. Then they guaranteed me on the following morning I would be out by 9:30 am. Finally left at 11:00. Icing on the cake? Of course. Charged me $65 more than quoted. This is my second time going to this location and both times my service was great they were very help and did not take a long time.

Don't go there if you have a pickup. Apparently they don't know how to put a spare tire back underneath the bed. They claimed to not have the tools to put the tire on. After one of the employees was trying to explain to me they didn't have the tools to do it, I understood and had follow up questions, the employee waved his hand at me and walked off. I responded angrily and put the tire in the bed of my truck and drove home. I went to where the tools are for a tire replacement (behind the passenger rear seat where they ALWAYS are on a pickup) and found all the tools that were needed. I'm doing it myself. Not only are they unknowledgeable over there, they're disrespectful. While I was waiting there were 3 other customers that were upset with their service. They can barely supply the bare minimum. Billy in particular was great. He checked everything and showed me how to reset the cars computer system. He didn't charge me anything and wouldn't even accept a tip. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Brought my car in for breaks good price, but 1 week later had to bring it back because breaks were bad they did not charge me for pads but they did for labor (it was a week). 2 weeks later I brought car to another mechanic because of noise he told me brakes need to be fixed again and they told me that one of my tires was not tightened and my wheel was lose. So I bring it back for the 3rd time for breaks they tell me they can get me in and get it done. Then they call me an hour before closing and tell me they could not get to it because they are short on labor. But assure me it will be the first car in the morning, I call the next morning 2 hours after opening and they tell me we have not even looked at it and not sure if we can today. Purchased 4 new tires in September 2022. Tires were dirty with marks on them, I questioned if they were new tires and they insisted they were. By December I was driving, got 20 minutes from home and my tire light came on. I was 7 minutes from Mavis so I drove straight there and they said my 2 Month old tire could not be repaired. And had to be replaced. Told me to pay $50 for a warranty and they replaced the tire. Now July 2nd, I had a problem with another tire after getting a flat they said it could not be repaired and told my daughter the warranty would cover it. They charged her $90 plus balance and mounting and for a new warranty. I spoke to the mechanic who passed it on to destruct manager who refused to take my call after I called corporate who by the way did nothing!!! The manager refuse to refund us back for the new warranty even though I asked it to be returned because we will no longer do business with them. Her name is Stacey at the Delran location and she refuse to refund my daughters money for a new warranty. After researching, Mavis has been sued for selling used tires as new. I have owned and bought many tires over my life and never had a problem like this. I even bought the same tires for my other daughters car and her tires looked new and did not have a problem and they were bought 2 weeks apart. DON'T get service from Mavis!!! I caught a flat and drove up to Mavis, I had my two sisters with me that are older, one who is sickly. I asked the man at the counter if they could check my tire and see if they could salvage it as I didn't have the money to pay for a new tire. They checked the tire, told me they couldnt salvage it but could get me a used tire. He was very courteous and willing to help me. This is what makes America Great. Humanity!!!!! We were frequent patrons of Mavis when it was STS but now that they're Mavis- their workmanship and customer service has really declined significantly. Got my struts replaced by them less than a year ago. When I noticed a squeaking in the front when driving i had a feeling it was the struts. I went to my current mechanic who that stated it was a strut that was leaking, when I went back to get it remediated by Mavis, their manager, Billy, told me it was not the strut that was broken- That it was the control arm. I then decided to get a third opinion, who agreed- my strut was leaking and broken. I decided to call the regional manager, Gary, to escalate it- I felt that he was not helpful, and was somewhat condescending towards me in my phone call. I understand that he's going to back up his employee, but I thought his tone towards me was very condescending. The strut is under warranty and I because I felt that there was no integrity in the diagnostic of the problem, I requested the labor and alignment to me comped- Gary didn't agree- he wanted to see "the facts". Although I was annoyed I ended up bringing it another Mavis (the other one in Lawrence, Jaquis is the manager) to get "evidence". And in the end- it was indeed confirm that it was a broken strut- not the control arm. All because this Mavis and Billy could not correctly identify the real issue. Not sure if they just wanted to charge me for something I didn't need- or they thought I wouldn't do my due diligence, but I will never bring my car to this Mavis again. Billy did not do a comprehensive job in diagnosing the issue, he instead tried to tell me to spend $560 on a control arm that I didn't need. and I felt the regional manager, Gary, was rude and condescending. This back and forth took three days of my time. It didn't have take so much time if billy and Mavis diagnosed it correct the first time. Thankfully the other Mavis confirmed the strut issue will be taking care of it for me. If you must go to a Mavis- go down the street and see Jaquis. read more

STS in Lawrenceville (NJ) does a nice job. About a year ago, they repaired a puncture in a $300 Toyo tire on my wife's car for ~$20 and made the repair quickly. Those tires just wore out after 14k miles, to the point where one of the tires was coming apart and unsafe to drive on. Since I couldn't drive very far to shop around, I brought the car to STS, which is near my house. While they were moderately busy, they took my car, changed all four tires, and got me out of there in less than an hour. The tires were of an acceptable grade (Federal brand) and they had a "buy three get one free" deal. They mounted and balanced all four tires and also checked my alignment (which was within specifications, and thus no adjustment required), all for $550. And, going forward, the purchase includes free tire rotation every 5 - 6k miles for the life of the tires. All in all, a square deal. My only complaint was that the Federal-brand tires were the only ones in stock that would fit my car/wheels. I would have liked to have had a choice of more tire brands. However, this may reflect the fact that my car is not a common model (Lexus HS250h). I am satisfied that STS did not seek to take advantage of me, i.e., sell me high priced tires, because they knew that I did not want to go somewhere else (on unsafe tires). read more

Brief summary: I brought my car to Mavis Lawrenceville NJ for the grinding sound on 1/30/19 which means the brake pads needs to be replaced, I paid $665 for basically labor and faulty parts (brake pads, rotors, and calipers) because I brought it back to them to be fixed again 2/24/19. I called corporate and complained. A few days later I get a call from Mavis Lawrenceville manager Mike, he stated that my master cylinder and booster brakes went bad. 3/1/19 I paid $850 for it to be replaced, I drove it home and it was not working properly. All the lights on my dashboard came on and brake lights would not turn off. I brought it back to them 3/2/19. They then brought it to Mazda because Mike the manager stated that they were not able to fix the problem. Mazda stated that the parts they had placed in my car were not quality parts. The result was Mazda fixed the problem that they caused. Mavis stated that the 2 are unrelated and that they are impossible to be related. Here's what I want to know: Were the parts they have replaced "the best quality parts?" Mike said that they only replace best quality parts in the cars that they have replaced. Akebono brake pads cost $43 at Advance Auto and Wagner brake pads is $22.99, these 2 brands are one of the top 10 quality brake pads. EBC rotors cost $67.52 and Bosh $69.47. How did replacing, brakes, calipers, rotors become complicated and ended with my master cylinder and booster brakes going bad? There are 4 reasons for the master cylinder to become bad. 1. Warning lights would be on. 2 Spongy brakes pedal sinking. 3. Leaking break fluids. 4. Contaminated break fluids. What is the process of changing the rotors, brakes, and calipers? Brake fluids must be flushed and in this process the more vulnerable the master cylinder will become and accumulate moisture and other contaminants when other work occures in that region which was seen by the other Mavis location at Rt 33 Hamilton NJ. That site manager did not want to touch my car and told me to bring it back to the Lawrenceville NJ location on 2/25/19. I had also paid for my rental insurance because they had kept my car for 2 weeks. I feel that they should reimburse me for that amount. They cost me a total of $1773 for faulty parts to be placed in my car. My car warning lights were never on, there was no fluid leaking, and according to my receipt the diagnosis were grinding sound. They did not mention anything that indicated my master cylinder or booster brakes were bad. That was not detected on their initial diagnosis on Jan 30th. read more

I asked it there was a wait .. they said no as I had something important to do so couldn't wait longer than an hour... I came in at 2:05. I'm still here and they haven't even taken my car. Very very very frustrating. I wouldve gone somewhere else. My day is now ruined. Thanks Mavis tires! Oh, and lastly they posted cheaper tires prices online versus what they had in stock...bait and switch much? I spoke up and they gave me prices I saw online....nonetheless. my experience has been less than steller and they basically hijaked my day off. Fast forward 2 hours and my car isn't even on the lift. I was nervous about going here since some of the reviews on here are really negative, but the location was so convenient that I decided to chance it. I'm glad I did! This is a harsh review, but it should be understood that any singular review is just that - one person's experience. I have used Mavis Tire a number of times, and previous experiences were uneventful. My recent experience was this. I made an appointment for the following day on their website for a specific time to have two new tires installed. When I arrived, the clerk apologized but the tires I ordered did not come in. We made an appointment for the next day. When I arrived again, I was told that they were backed up and there would be a 2 to 3 hour wait. (Just what is the point of booking an appointment exactly?) But it gets worse. After they informed me that my car was ready, and after paying them, I went to retrieve my car to find that they replaced one of the wrong tires. Now mind you the two tires I needed replacing had very obvious damage, and they neglected to give any cursory look before deciding which tires to replace. To have this poor service after waiting for hours upset me greatly. One of the representatives acted defensively rather than attempt apologize, but the manager acted more professionally. I waited again, as they corrected the problem (switching the new tire to replace the damaged one and putting the old functional tire back on my car. The manager gave me a card for a free oil change (which I will not use). But the story isn't over. The following day I found my car to vibrate significantly when traveling at 60 to 70 mph. I took my car to a different service provider and sure enough - the tires were improperly balanced - causing the vibration. They clearly are understaffed and quality is a problem. This place is amazing!...In and out in less than an hour, battery replacement and oil change....and on a Saturday (6/15/19) no less. I did NOT have an appointment. Mike the manger is phenomenal and REALLY knows what customer service is all about. This makes several times I have been to them and each time they never cease to amaze me. Brit, one of the service advisors, extremely helpful and knowledgable. Chris one of the mechanics treated my vehicle like it was his own, taking a personal interest in my concerns and with his vast knowledge explained to me the status of my repairs. The most courteous and customer friendly people I have ever met...the whole bunch of them. When I walk into the store, I am called by my name and treated like a family member.
