I had a nail stuck in one of my tires and I called around to see if I could get it take care of and I called the mavis on 404 Oswego rd. to see if I could get it taken care of, they said to bring it in. If I could give Mavis 0 stars I would. I took my car in for what I thought was going to be a simple brake repair. I'm no car wizard, but the noise I was hearing when I braked made me strongly believe there was an issue with the brakes. I had brake work done there a little less than a year ago at the time I initially brought my car in, so I was covered under warranty. I was initially told I needed to replace a connection arm on one of the front wheels and the back needed new struts. I wasn't pleased, but knowing these are essential things, bit the bullet and paid for the roughly $800 repair work. Picked my car up later that day, drove home, and realized my car was still making the same noise I initially brought it in for. The next day, I had to drive on i-90 about 20 miles, and my front end was making such a terrible noise I thought my wheel was going to fall off! I crept back to Liverpool, and immediately went back to Mavis saying something was seriously wrong. They took a look at my car, and a few hours later, called me and told me the connection arm they put in was faulty and would replace it free of charge. Picked up my car, drove home, and guess what! The car was still making the same noise it was making when I initially took it in! I brought it back AGAIN and this time they told me my brake pads were probably just dirty. They cleaned them, and SHOCKER, this didn't solve the problem. At this point, I took my car to Subaru for a second opinion. They put my car up, had a look, and actually took me into the shop with them and showed me that my brake plates were worn and should be replaced or at least grinded down. The noise I was hearing was from the metal backing plate rubbing against the rotor! (EXACTLY what I thought the noise was in the first place!) I asked them if they thought this was normal after one year and they said no, they don't see brakes this worn after a year of normal driving wear and tear, but they order different parts than Mavis. I was PISSED at this point and would have had Subaru do the work, but my brakes were covered under warranty with Mavis. So I called up Mavis, asked to talk to a manager, and explained what was going on and what Subaru told me. The manager was extremely rude telling me she would not honor my warranty because at this point in time, I was past the honor date of the warranty (we're about three weeks in at this point of back and forth), and told me that some times they get faulty parts, etc. etc. I said I was not going to be satisfied until my brake work was done for free or I got a refund because I had just spent $800 there and my car was still making the initial noise I brought it in for and when I first brought it in, the brakes were still under warranty. I was given the number of the district manager. I called the district manager and said I wanted a full refund for the brake work done a year ago because I didn't trust Mavis and was never using their services again. I also told him that I was told by one of the Mavis employees that faulty parts are often ordered and that did not make me feel safe using their services! Of course he wouldn't honor my request, but he did make an appointment for me at another Mavis center to do the brake work for free. Took my car, had the brake work done, got no receipt (as if it never happened) and took my car home. Today, the brakes squeak, and I've been told by car friends that happens with knock-off brakes. Just a constant reminder never to go back to Mavis! If you've read this far, I hope that means you've stuck with me long enough to learn NEVER take your car to Mavis! I don't talk poorly about people, and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but the customer service is terrible, and I'm not sure they truly know what they are doing! You will spend money you don't need to spend and they don't even order good parts! Save your time and money and go elsewhere! read more

Dad caught a screw in his truck and we were fortunate enough to be nearby this Mavis, which was extremely helpful and as efficient as could be. No joke, we pulled in, they immediately serviced the tire and we pulled out of there in 10 minutes. They were nice enough to just take care of it then and there rather than make us wait two hours for something that could be done on the spot. read more

These guys were awesome! Saturday after Thanksgiving, checked out of our motel to find a flat tire awaiting us. After getting nowhere at another shop, the Mavis guy pulled the drywall nail out, fixed the tire, installed a new set of wiper blades and had us on our way in well under an hour, despite the shop being quite busy. Helpful, courteous and great sense of humor-- a great team of guys! read more

There is literally no point in make any kind of reservation or appointment. Reservations are not honored. You are told as much, then told to just wait. You will get 12 emails confirming your reservation, leading up to your reservation, the day of your reservation, but you don't actually have one. read more

Great service! Made an appointment and my car was taken in right away for an inspection when I arrived. I was told that my car would take about 1-1.5 hours to be finished and it took no more than 30 minutes from start to finish. I had the plastic on my headlight crack from hitting a bird. I ordered my part on line and they installed for $40.00 everywhere else wanted over $150.00. I was very pleased with Mavis and the service that was given me. Next I need an alignment and am hopeful they want a lot less than what is quoted me at GoodYear. read more

They are dishonest and will lie to women and the elderly to scare them into buying a more expensive synthetic oil change. The person at the service counter told me that my vehicle calls for synthetic motor oil. When I told him I just wanted conventional oil he tried to scare me by telling me if I used A conventional oil in my engine they have heard reports of it blowing alot of engines in my type of vehicle. All of which is a bunch of downright dirty lies. My owners manual calls for conventional oil and it doesn't recommend for synthetic on their system, that's just what they tell you. If your elderly, a woman or just someone who doesn't know Alot about cars, stay away from Mavis Discount Tire they will just try to rip you off. 8 months ago I turned them in to the DMV for trying to charge me for work I didn't agree too. They claimed it needed the work done. Like an alignment which had just been done 3 moths earlier. A power steering flush and brake system flush. 300.00 more work than I approved. They got their asses jacked by the state and 8 months later they are doing the same thing, nothing has changed. read more

Only received 1 star because zero wasn't available. First off I had an appt at 8a on a Saturday so I dropped my car off for oil change and tires, never heard back from them. Called back Sunday morning 907am and the rude ass lady manager answered the phone. She informed me my inspection couldn't be done because my brake light was on (sensor not working) ok cool. I then proceed to ask if my oil change had been done and she stated she had to find out, but that she had to put my tires on still but i can pick up at 10am, so I ask her if the oil change isn't done is 10am enough time to put the tires on and do the oil change! She says in a nasty tone, Yes oil change is only 10min, so i informed her that I'm a nurse and not an auto tech. She then says maam I'm the only one here and if you want your car done i have to go and hung up the phone on me!!!! I called back and asked who was her manager and she says I'm the manager. I informed her that her customer service skills suck and I will be calling corporate. Enroute to picking up my BMW. Next time I'm taking my car back to Firestone and paying the extra $275 for my set of 4 tires! Don't waste your time here. read more

Service team was exceptionally helpful and performed an emergency brake job in record time. We were traveling across I-90 and had pulled off in Liverpool, NY for a bite to eat. We noticed a concerning noise coming from our rear wheel and picked Mavis Tire as it had good reviews. In spite of the store computer system having some technical difficulties, the staff quickly got our van on the lift, diagnosed the issue, and presented us with a reasonably priced quote to fix the issue. Having done many brake jobs myself, and having also paid for many brake jobs, I was very pleased with the staff, the pricing and the quality. They certainly could have taken advantage of us due to our situation - being out of town folks on a family trip to Michigan, caught in an emergency situation. Called on Tuesday made a 10.00 am appointment for Thursday to have have new tire put on,told the guy on the phone had to wait for the vehicle so wanted to make sure it could be done quickly he said no problem. Got there this morning at 10 was told it be a 5 hour wait guy at counter wasn't apologetic or any like that.Took time of from work to have this done just wasted my whole day now I have to take another day hope the next place I pick is honest with their schedule and don't waste my time but it will never be this company again.When take a reservation at 10 and then say it will be 5 hours,do you know how a reservation works? read more

This is the type of place you want to do business with. First of all they have excellent prices on tires which is what brought me there to begin with but they are very friendly and accommodating. They spent the time to discuss with me any issues I was having or potently could have and gave me the information and options so I could make a good decision. The manager worked with me on my time and budget, I never felt pressured but i did feel like I was given a great deal. I would highly recommend going to the Liverpool location. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible. It's close to home and the tire prices are good, but after three tries for different things, I will never be back. To be short, First trip - new tires-loose lug nuts, almost died on thruway. Second trip - new tires, tried to gouge me at pick up after previous quote. LAST TRIP - schedule NYS inspection online, drop off vehicle night before for 9am appointment. inspection machine broken no call, no contact until I finally call them at 1:15pm. I'm going to try to make this story short. The manager here, is horrible. First they break stuff. Then expect me to pay for it. Then I ask for the managers name because he didn't have a name tag and he blunty refuses to give me his name. He accuses me of trying to get stuff for free. Call me names tells me to get out of the shop. Then proceeds of ignoring me and says I need to tow my car because he's not going to finish what they started. I was in tears. I never been so humiliated by some no name guy. I called my boyfriend. He call corporate. To the point he came out with a name tag. And they finish the repairs. Also gave me the parts for free I still had to paid for my services almost $300. I was there from 10am until 3:00. I was standing all that time in the sun because one i didnt wany him to sabotage my car. Two he told me to stay out. All i did was try to pledge with him that he shoukd of told me that the piece might broke so to warn me. And since he didn't do that. They need it to fix it. I was going to pay for it. Until he crazy started to accuse me and calling me names. The cashier and the other workers in the other hand were fantastic. This manager should be fired. read more

Can I please give this place ZERO STARS. This is the absolute worst place my husband and I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Went in there for two front tires. They said they had a special 99.00 a piece plus some small charges on top of that like 14.00 a piece for each tire, don't remember what it was exactly. Assistant manager don't know his first name as just his last name was sewn on his work shirt was the most rudest of rude people we have ever encountered. My God, what happened to customer service?? No personality and just down right rude. Was told job would be done by 2:00 pm, it is almost four and we are still waiting. Get a call at three and was told several different things were wrong with our van, breaks etc. What ourt breaks were working JUST FINE BEFORE PULLING UP THERE.. WTF??!! We are like WHAT??? My husband told him to just put the tires on and do not touch anything else. People save yourself the hassle and stay as far away from this place as possible. We only went here because it was the closest place that had our tires in stock. I rather have traveled to another state then deal with these rip off con artists again. This company always finds a way to charge you more. I call and get an estimate and when I bring it in the cost is now $80 more. Then they say I need more parts even though two different repair shops said that I didn't less than 24 hours ago. AVOID this company at all costs!!!! read more

They still have not fixed my vehicle. The mechanic told tell me I need a outer tie rod replacement. but the Manager told me I need a Rack and pinion assembly . The Mavis Tire Company are dishonest to their customers. Beware stay away !! read more

I had a tire already on the rim and simply wanted a switch my existing tire on rim with it. To be clear, taking a tire off my truck, and putting a tire on . I called and was told 30 minutes wait and like $8. I got there and was told an hour and $18, they said I must have been quoted a winter price, but they would generously honor it..roflmao! We're talking a 5 minute job! I left my truck there. I was only doing this because I was busy traveling and wanted a better tire on the truck and would use the one taken off as a spare. The bays were full but mine was the only vehicle waiting. I CAME BACK 2 HOURS LATER AND MY TRUCK WAS STILL SITTING THERE!! I FOUND SEVERAL EMPLOYEES JUST STANDING AROUND AND SEVERAL BAYS OPEN! I went up the street to a competitor and they changed the tires out in about 5 minutes free of charge. Needless to say I will never set foot in their place again and liverpools a small town, we all know each other.I see they've posted several 5 star fake reviews for themselves to offset the many terrible reviews read more
