We had 2 different 8:00am appointments for inspection on 2 different days. They didn't have the 2 cars done until 4:00pm and 4:30pm, even though I was told 8:00am is the first appointment. The person on the phone said the cars would be (first ) for inspection. Other than that; They did good work on both cars and we had no other problems. Sunday afternoon just dropped horse off at a show to discover one of my trailer tires Needed a valve stem replaced. From tires not purchased from Mavis the whole team and service manager were more than willing to help me out of the very tough situation. From the time I got there to the time I was driving away with the fixed tire was less than 20 minutes Simply amazing! Highly recommend them to anyone in the area. Run as far away from this place as humanly possible. There have been some honest people here in the past but they never last. I have been coming to this place off and on for several years now due to their proximity to my home and the convenience that comes with. I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt and I keep getting burned. Here are just a few of the issues I've experience having my car serviced here: First visit- oil change: Took 5+ hours to complete an oil change and shorted my engine two full quarts of oil. Luckily my car noticed its levels were low a few days later and I was able to take it back. They topped it off, acted like they didn't do anything wrong. Second visit- oil change and inspection: Again, had my car for 5+ hours. Got the oil change right this time but told me I needed new wipers to pass inspection. Okay, that's fine. Sell me the wipers then. Charges me $27 for the wipers and then had my car for another 2 hours before they call me back to pick up. They ended up being able to get my wipers for me so they just passed my inspection anyways. Did not refund me for the wipers. It took me 2 months and several dozen phone calls to finally get someone to refund me my money for the wipers. Third and most recent visit- oil change and inspection: Had my car from 9 am to 6 pm. Did not short my car oil this time but didn't put the cap back on so I leaked oil all over my driveway. Took it in to have them fix things up. Had the car for 2+ hours. When I called asking for an update they told me they had called me and left a message. No call. No message. Asked him what the issue was when I got there. "Just short a quart. No issues at all man" So what's with all the oil sitting in my driveway? I'll be taking this to the dealership to have it looked over and sending them any bill that comes from it. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if there are parts missing or even the wrong oil in the car. This Mavis cannot be trusted to do honest, quality work. Don't trust your car to them. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a PA state inspection for 11:00am; after waiting over 2.5 hours I inquired when they would inspect the car, I was told at least another hour+. I took the car and rescheduled another appointment for 10am, after waiting over another 2 hours they still have not touched the car. These guys are great! I have had numerous issues with my 25 year old Ford Explorer. So, needless to say, as my truck has gotten older, the issues sometimes are a bit harder to find and fix. Well, the owner and his crew have been totally understanding of the need to keep my vehicle running. When it has been extensive repairs and long waits, the crew chip in and get me back to where I live. It is not far to drive, but walking with my poor health was not happening. I have visited this place for the past three years because my dealer is quite far from where I live. They were always great, taking their time with updates and fixes, and communicating well. However, everything changed during the July 4th week of 2025. I brought my car in for its yearly inspection, and they were so busy that my car stayed there for two days. When I called, they said it would be done in a couple of days as they were busy. Eventually, they called and said the service was complete, but they just couldn't reset the service reminder/error message for the oil on the screen and said the dealer can reset it. They said its just the reset. While driving from Pennsylvania to Virginia, on my way to Charlotte, I planned to stay overnight in a hotel in Virginia. As I drove, my car kept flashing "Oil pressure low." Since Mavis told me it was just a reset issue, I assumed it was just a reminder not being reset and continued driving. It was 11 PM, and I had no idea where to stop. I made it to the hotel, but the next day, my car wouldn't start and there was oil puddle on the ground. It made loud knocking noises and made jumpy movements. I had to tow my car from Virginia to the BMW dealer in Charlotte, which cost me $1800. A couple of days later, the dealer informed me that the car didn't have enough engine oil--only one quart! They recommended replacing the entire engine and quoted $27,000 for a remanufactured engine and $19,000 for a used engine with 79k miles. I then towed my car from the dealer to another place and the cost of towing was $140. After running diagnostics and asking me every single question about what had happened, they discovered that the issue was a leaking oil drain plug, stripped by MAVIS during the oil change. [OIL DRAIN PLUG IS STRIPPED AND LEAKING]. They fixed it and they charged me $243 for the service, and my car has been running super fine ever since - no leakage, no error message, and the engine is just fine. They advised me never to take my car to MAVIS for any work or repair. The problem here is that MAVIS was so busy that they did a sloppy job. Trusting them, I drove the car and think about what could have happened to me and my family in the middle of the highway at night. I understand you have great, hardworking people, but you might be overworking them, preventing them from doing their job properly. You only charged me $150 for the service, but the agony, pain, and sleepless nights caused by your poor service are unimaginable. From safety concerns to the $2183 loss of moving the car from one place to another, to one dealer saying I need an engine replacement and about to charge a whopping $27,000. The company that fixed the problem provided me with all the documentation to hold you responsible, but that's not my intent. I don't want to overlook the service you have provided me for the past three years, but this will be my last time as I went through enough in the past two weeks due to your carelessness. Next time, if you are busy, all you have to say is "I am busy, take the car somewhere else" to your customers and not do shabby work that puts others in danger and agony. read more

Called on Wednesday to schedule tire rotation for tires purchased in July. I was told first come first served, so I was not given an appointment. I went in on Saturday and told to come back on Sunday at 9 am, that they were too busy. When I came in on Sunday I asked if the technician would add air to the tires, with the cold weather, I have been having issues keeping the correct PSI. The tires were changed while I waited. At check out I was told I owed $21 plus. When I asked what for, I was told for tire rotation. I assured the young man that I bought the tires at Mavis and their policy is free tire rotation. He was well aware of this, as he had just spent the multiple minutes typing up a summary and Bill on my account. He immediately said 'yes' and deleted everything he did online because I received no paperwork to indicate tire rotation was done. Hmm, trying to pull something over on a senior? When I got into the car, I noted that no air had been added to the tires, 31 is what I came in with rather than the recommended 35. What is wrong with you folks! Take some pride in what you do. Need state inspection? STAY away! They are absolutely horrible. I booked an appt for 10am and once confirmed, dropped my car. Came back at 3:30pm thinking it should be done...nope...they haven't even gotten to it. I complained and said my appt was made for 10am. and all the time slots were open all day ...why didn't they get to my car? They told me that their online booking doesn't reflect the schedule in store...???? Why have online booking when you can't honor peoples schedules?? They told me to come back at 8am tomorrow...Next day, I called that morning and he said the inspection person (the manager) hasn't made it to work yet...(store opens at 8am). I said what time would he get my car inspected? He told me that guy should be in by 9am...ok, so I said I will be back at 10am to pick up my car since I need to go to work... 10am...nothing...they haven't gotten to my car (after he said it will be the first one to be done). Stay away...what kind of business are they running..it's not a playground where you can show up to work whenever you feel like and are too lazy to do your job....store manager or not! People have schedules also... My overall impression, the store manager is a lazy ass that wobbles to work when he feels like it...since he won't be reprimanded. He wasted my time...and lied about. I went to this place here in Troy, NY 1540 5th Ave. Troy NY and was handled, I was Charged for a Wheel Alignment, paid my monies and never to the Wheel alignment, but they Charged me... I went back and they told me, Nope we didn't, we couldn't because you have a busted ball joint, but you Changed me the full Price any, I was having problems with my wheels and they sold me new ones, that wasn't the problem, I brought it back still complaining of the same issue for them to miss diagnose, this again, now they tell me well you need new Shocks and Struts for another 613.00, and I am like wait I have been here four times you finally figured this out. This Mavis is awful. I took my vehicle here for an inspection which didn't pass with several absolutely absurd failures. Mind you I have an older car, so I generally expect a few minor things to come up when I take it in for an inspection, but I was shocked to see the quote to repair what I needed to pass was in the THOUSANDS...I called their BS since my car passed just fine a year ago and took my car someplace else where I got an oil change, inspection, and associated repairs for just under $300....I was also given multiple inaccurate ETAs for when my car would be inspected, although this wasn't a surprise because it's happened before to me here during other transactions. Not here to trash Mavis, I actually like several other locations, but DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE FOR AN INSPECTION. BEWARE!!! I had an appointment this week to get new tires. I called to get a quote before taking the car in and even called a second time to confirm the price. They told me they would email me a work order. It never came. There was a fill-in manager at the store that day - Adam from the Norristown Mavis. At my appointment he tried to sell me on all these extras - new wipers, a brake fluid flush, etc. I politely declined as I was there for tires. Finally, I get checked out and was overcharged. Adam said he couldn't refund me b/c something with the machine changed and he didn't have access and I would have to call customer service. I called corporate as instructed and the customer service rep told me he could do it and she called him to tell him to process it. He came back in and told me a second time he was unable to provide a credit. I left and called customer service again and was again told that he was not being truthful. Adam then calls me and says "they gave him a code so he could now process the refund" (more bs). I gave him my credit card info and instead of a refund he charged me!!! After two days and numerous phone calls and time wasted, I still don't have the full refund. On top of this, I left the store wondering if they even balanced my tires as they didn't drive right and were making noises. I was a fan on Mavis in Royersford, PA until Sunday February 27, 2022. The managers there were always honest. However, when I went to get a hole fixed in my tire on February 27, the shop had a very different vibe. (They also offered a free check of other major things for free, so I said sure.) The man working at the desk was disorganized and flustered. There were customers who were upset over different things and some loud, not so happy conversations happening. I just say there and hoped that my car could get fixed and was thankful there was a place open on a Sunday to fix my tire. However, after waiting about 1 hour 45 minutes to get my car fixed (the men in the garage fixing the cars seemed much more worried about joking around, talking to each other, and controlling what music was playing than properly fixing the cars they were working on in a timely manner), I was waiting to check out and finally get out of the tension filled room. The printer had run out of the special kind of paper that it needed to print customer receipts. The man working at the desk disappeared for an additional 45 minutes. One of the men from the shop finally came in and took over some things and I told them an email receipt would be fine. I left and was driving down the road and suddenly my car had no power. I thought there was an issue with the tire going flat again and went right into a Wawa to get some air in the tire. However, the tire looked ok and the sensors told me my tire pressure was ok. I went to pull out on the main road and my car had completely no power. I called the shop back and one man from the shop came down to investigate. I had the car towed back to Mavis and they had to keep it to do a diagnostic on it the next day (which turned into Tuesday because the machine wasn't working on Monday or wasn't there? I'm not quite sure). The man that came to check out the issue from Mavis insisted that it must be a coincidence that my engine died after I left Mavis and my car had been completely fine (minus the tire issue). Mavis could not diagnose or they were probably nervous to tell me) that it was an issue with my engine and someone from Mavis has maybe been angry with a customer and done something to my car. I had it towed to the dealership and they said I needed a new fuel pump. Once they replaced it, they realized it still wasn't working correctly and inspected further. Someone at Mavis had put sugar in my gas tank! (Along with scratches around the outside of the gas tank that looked like someone had tried to wipe something off scratching the paint that had not been there previously). There were crystalized pieces around the outside of the gas tank opening on the car. I filed an insurance claim and was FURIOUS. I am SO disappointed that a shop that I trusted very much could have let this happen. How could someone be so unprofessional and so mean to do this to someone? I just do not understand and it was a massive inconvenience and stress spanning about 3 months in total to finally get things mostly fix. It was a $29 tire plug that cost me a whole lot more time and money. Beyond disappointed in this company and the employees. Over $4,000 in damages and countless ours of time spent dealing with this situation. read more

This Mavis location is awesome, everyone is very kind and extremely honest. I took my car in to get the brakes changed but they told me I didn't need it! They could have taken my money easily. I have brought my car back ever since then. Typically when I get my car fixed I have to have my dad on the phone to verify if I'm getting a good price. I don't have to do that here, I know they're not going to try and get money out of me. When I read the reviews for this location my recent experience was not surprise. I made an appointment on-line for inspections/emissions tests and oil change. Received a call telling me that the date and time would not work and they couldn't get the car in until the next Monday. So, we moved the appointment. I received a call from Adam telling me my car needed tires to pass inspection. He had set me up with some Mavis brand and the car would be done that day. I asked about replacements for the same brand that was on the car, it was like talking to a teenager. It was as if I was imposing on him. Turns out the tires I requested for over twice the mileage guarantee for only $20 more per tire. The car was not done until the next day, this is now five days after the original date I scheduled on-line. They never called to tell me the car was ready. When I called, Adam answered and told me the car was ready. again the teenage smart ass attitude. He told me the car was ready and had been ready for hours, they had called several times and left messages. When I asked what number he called, he repeated back my cell number. There were no calls from Mavis. I asked what time they closed and he said right now (6:00) pm. He then asked if I was coming for the car today. When I tried to straighten out the phone number issue, Adam told me he didn't care if I received the message and hung up. When I went to pick up the car, Mavis had added a $60 charge for a warranty on the tires. I was told this was if the tires don't wear evenly, I would be pro-rated for replacement tires. This of course was already provided by the manufacturer warranty. Needless to say, this is my last interaction with Mavis. read more

I can't say enough about the staff here at my local Mavis in Royersford. Sean and Solomon helped me out recently when my car's engine seized up and I had to have it towed. They helped me get a case together that the engine was under an extended warranty and could be replaced for no charge by my dealership. I appreciate that they took what must have been a lot of extra effort to help me out and ultimately save me from having to buy a new car in an emergency. I called (Royersford) at Noon to see if I needed an appointment because my low tire light was on. The guy who answered asked if I could come now since they weren't busy. I work 5 minutes from there so said, "Sure!" When I arrived there were 3 other people waiting. 2 hours later my car was still not in the garage. The tech came out a couple times but the front desk was on the phone. I finally saw my car backed out and the woman called me to the desk. She said it was a sensor light, not the tire, $89.95. I said great, then I'm good to go? She said, oh, no, we don't do repairs without the owner's permission. (I was sitting in the waiting area the entire time.) It's also out of inspection and needs an oil change. If you can come in tomorrow we'll do it first thing. This is the same line I heard her tell three other people. Did they honestly think I'd ever go back? I left at 2:30. Wonder if they'll send me a check for $375 (their shop rate is $149/hour) for the unpaid time I lost from work? Last evening both of my headlights had burned out. I had an 1:45 minute drive home very late at night and was concerned about only using my high beams. I called the store and even though it was after hours one of the technicians answered. When I explained the situation he immediately indicated that I could bring the lights I had just purchased to the shop and he would replace them for me. I was so very grateful for his willingness to assist even though the shop had closed 30 minutes prior and I felt much safer driving home. They really did go above and beyond. read more

Only after I called them out did they have no choice but to come clean. Made me run to the store twice (wasted several dollars in fuel) for no improvements. I would never return to this location. I can only imagine how many previous customers they have ripped off. I went to the branch manager and he didn't do much better. He did make good on the services that were supposed to be performed by sending me to a different location but did not properly compensate me for my inconvenience, wasted fuel and my time. I dropped off my car at 7 AM several days ago to have some routine maintenance done. I only use them because they were walking distance from my house. After getting no call back near the end of the first day, I called them and asked what was going on. The manager said he was shortstaffed but would get my car in first thing in the morning. Again no response the next day. Finally I went to the shop and saw that my card was still not moved from us original parking space. Manager claimed that the owners "screwed him over" and he still has only one technician. I obviously took my car back but wasted several days and will now have to wait several more to get an appointment with another mechanic. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CHAIN! read more

Absolutely Terrible experience... called ahead to see if they had my size tires in stock... they did not but assured me they would have them the next day. Fast forward to the next day after waiting 90 minutes (I added on an oil change), the manager try's to really hard to sell me on getting the alignment done because it's pulling to the right. I decline. When I leave I notice my car pulling not just right but all over the road while I hear a weird rubbing type noise coming from my car. Come to find out they are the wrong size, way too big for my car. I now have to wait 2 more days to get the right tires meanwhile my car starts pulling hard to the left. Felt completely unsafe to drive. 2 days later I'm back for the correct size tires to be installed... haven't mentioned yet that it was only 2 tires... 2 hours later I'm told the alignment was checked and (maybe) adjusted. The tires are now the right size but it still pulls hard to the left and the rubbing (I don't know how else to describe it) is still present. I DID NOT HAVE AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE OR THIS NOISE COMING FROM MY CAR BEFORE THEY TOUCHED IT. Is it unreasonable to be worried about the oil change not being done correctly also? Now I'll have to pay more money to get these problems corrected by another business. Mavis will never touch another car I own ever again. read more

I brought my car in for slow leak in one of my tires. I figured this was due to a roofing nail as my complex had recently replaced the roofs and I've found several in the parking lot. I was told that 2 of my tires needed replacement as the threads were low (before even bringing the car into the bay to work on) and then that my brakes were metal on metal and should be replaced. 1. if my brakes were metal on metal, it would've been illegal for them to let me leave without replacing them, but yet they let me leave! 2. I thought this was odd since my car is only 4 years old (and a hybrid which has caused me to drive it better than any other car I've own), in which they told me it could be due to usage/mileage. I average less than 8500 miles per year, which is extremely low as I believe the average is 15,000/year. 3. When I got home, I checked my last inspection report from January and both my tires and brakes were not even close to needing replacement at that time. I've barely driven my car since then due to COVID. I truly believe this was a tactic to get me to spend more money and purchase items I didn't need... possibly because I am a female. I'm glad I stuck to my guns and only had them repair the tire I came in for. read more

My boyfriend was visiting me from Jersey, and when he went out this morning his rear tire had gone completely flat. Called AAA, and the tire was so old the steel belt had come through. The other rear tire hadn't gone yet, but was about to. I called Mavis, they had the tires I needed in stock and on sale. My boyfriend's car was up on the rack being worked on within the hour, and with service and a price that couldn't be beat. Chas and his team are awesome!!! I had bought four new tires and was supposed to get an alignment done. One of the techs did my alignment but didn't feel comfortable enough with the torch to finish the job because of a seized bolt. We agreed to make it steer straight ahead as i was supposed to come in within a week and get it fixed, or when a tech that knows how to use the torch comes in. Now my vehicle is -40 for the toe in the left and right side of the vehicle and pulling to the right and left BADLY. I told the tech to let me know when to come back and then the alignment machine broke ! I called to a different Mavis store to see when I could come in and they said they were booked for a couple weeks. This is ridiculous. read more

Once STS this is now nothing more than a Mecca for incompetence, fake problems recommended to be required to be fixed etc. Examples my son was told it would be $12 to mount his tires.. we were then told it would be $198.00. I was told my vehicle needed " recommended services simply based on mileage without seeing for example that oil was new and had already been chsn addition my vehicle was damaged by their not knowing where to place the lift on the frame of my vehicle !
