This place used to be my go to for oil changes but after my last interaction with them I will never enter this shop again. I recently heard a scraping sound during braking so I asked them to do a free brake check. They tell me the brake pad is gone and the rotors are bad. They first quoted $538. When I said Mavis quoted me at $420 why is this higher? He said some mumble about different parts, lifetime warranty crap but then he dropped it to $450. I went to a HONEST mechanic the brake pad still had a centimeter left and the rotors were not affected at all. Perfectly fine on both sides. It was the sensor making the noise not the pad itself. I have been going to the Phoenixville Tires Plus for about 4 years now. Mostly oil changes, with the random larger repair here and there. They are always upfront and honest with me about what is going on with my vehicle. They always get the work done quickly and scheduling is easy to set up. All of those are really important things but the thing that stays with me after I leave is they always have real smiles and they seem to genuinely enjoy their job and helping their customers. I've been having my front passenger tire leak for a couple weeks now and I thought it was a screw in the tire this whole time. Brought my car in and they took me that minute! No appointment! There are not enough words to describe the superb customer service I just received!!! I pulled up to Tires Plus at 3PM with a flat tire with a stripped lug nut (which the roadside assistance person was unable to remove). As soon as I walked into the facility, Dennis politely greeted me and assured me that they would be able to assist me. Peter, checked out my car then projected that it might be a while since they already had several cars they had to finish before day end. Edgar was nice enough to get to it right away and I was out of there within 10 minutes...literally! Not only was the customer service unparalleled by each of the gentleman , but the overall price for labor, parts and the tire was more than fair. I have been a customer at the Phoenixville Tires Plus for many years. Pete is always accommodating when my wife and I, or our kids, need to make an appointment. I have found their pricing to be very reasonable as are their recommendations for ongoing maintenance. I genuinely trust their recommendations and diagnoses. With three kids driving, heaven knows we've required our fair share of service. I love the interest free option on the TP credit card and the company does a good job with coupons etc. Finding someone you trust in any business is tough, but I stand behind my experiences with Pete's team thus far. called the store to ask very clear questions about getting an oil change and honoring a competitors coupon from CJ's Tire for $20 off any service at regular price. Manager Pete said he will honor the coupon and take a look at it when I come in. He said he will honor the coupon off the regular price (when I got to the store). On the phone I asked him for the regular price of a conventional oil change. He said 24.99. He said that he never claimed it was 24.99. He had a voice recording of the phone call, so I asked him to play it. In the recording he CLEARLY said the regular price was 24.99. If management is reviewing this issue, as him to PLAY THE RECORDING. The coupon was $20 off regular price, he stated the regular price was 24.99, so he should have honored it that way. But, then he changed his response to 'there is no way I am giving an oil change for $8 and change'. He refused to honor his statement. This shows a lack of honesty and integrity! BEWARE! DISHONEST MECHANICS! Please forgive the prolixity of the following paragraphs. I recently took in my car to have the front brakes fixed. The original quote was $547.00 (a little high, but relatively tolerable). The next day I received a call stating that the grand total had now doubled, because the "calipers needed to be rebolted, and the fluid replaced". The total now was over $1000.00......FOR FRONT BRAKES!! When I objected to this staggering sum, the employee (Harry is his name) said in a quasi-threatening tone, that they could be charging me double that amount if they wanted to (in other words, they wanted me to smile and bend the *bleep* over). Needless to say, I did not give them my business. This establishment has resorted to cheap and thuggish gouging, and I'm sure I'm not their first would-be victim. When I asked two separate mechanics about the legitimacy of this quote, they sounded shocked and confused as to what the additional charge was for, given the fact that the calipers are to be tightened and bolted during the process of a brake change anyway. I now know beyond doubt that the additional charge was simply an attempt to steal from me. I told good ol' Harry to leave my car in the lot, and that I would take it somewhere else, to which he curtly replied that my car was "undriveable". I then reminded Harry that he was a public servant, and to do exactly as I said. Harry sheepishly complied. Naturally I ignored this charlatan's words, and I drove the car back to my residence, where my good friend (a mechanic) graciously fixed it for a price that I named ($200.00). Incidentally, I only payed $100.00 for the parts, which was $250.00 less than what the parts would have cost had I happily bent over at Tires Plus. THE ONLY QUESTION I HAVE NOW, IS WHAT TO DO WITH THE $700.00 I SAVED BY NOT PATRONIZING THIS SECOND-RATE ESTABLISHMENT. AVOID THE CHAINS! THE END. read more

I was having issues installing new wheels and snow tires I got from tirerack.com, so I decided to bring them into TiresPlus since they were listed as one of their preferred installers. They were able to identify the issue and get everything installed for me for a very reasonable price. The front-desk person (Marianne) was very friendly and even helped me carry in the tires from my car to the service bay when I dropped them off. And upon pickup, she provided tire bags for my original tires and even helped me bag them. Exceptional service in my opinion. The next time I need tires, I plan to buy local from them and have them do the install. read more

Do not go to this business all they do is run charges up on you. People tried to warn me in the past but I was blinded by their great customer service. They are very friendly and will relate to you, but all the while they are robbing you. I finally realize this when I purchase a used car and the front tire driver side was losing air. I took it to Tire Plus where this time the store manager helped me. He told me that they will see if they can fix the tire since it seems to just be the stem. He failed to mention that there was a charge to check to see if the tire is fixable, after they replaced the tire, he automatically placed a premium warranty on the tire that I didn't ask for. Unfortunately I had paid and reviewed the charges after the fact. The store manager promised to contact to make things right. That was two months ago. read more

I should start off by saying I'm not a car expert. And it probably shows. I'm your classic pointy-headed professor type. Mechanics can smell a sucker a mile off, you know, and, well, I'm pretty sure I have that aroma. Also, I always drive pretty crappy cars, and I don't know how to maintain them properly. So it's possible I've been had by these guys on the basis of my naïveté. That having been said, though, they could have fleeced me many times over, and they haven't. They sell good-quality products at a fair price -- not the cheapest in the area, but fair. They're thorough. I've never had a problem with their work. They will tell you the truth (I think) about whether or not you REALLY need some particular repair job done, or whether you can let it ride another couple months. They're always friendly and polite, and the facility is clean and comfortable if you have to wait around. They seem to get done when they say they'll be done, in my experience. Anyhow, so here's my overall verdict: a good, solid mechanic's shop that'll give you reasonable prices and honest reliable work -- in other words, a keeper. read more

Oh boy. Where to start. I brought my truck in for an inspection last week. I used the drop box option which worked well. I should have known something was amiss when I did not see one car parked around the outside of the store. In all fairness, 4 bays did have vehicles in them and I found out later that they do not like keeping vehicles outside at night. Unfortunately, if you only have 4 vehicles there that should have been telling me something wasn't right. The firestone up the street from me has cars stacked everywhere because they just keep up with the business. I would have taken my truck (like all my cars) there but they don't have a lift that fits my truck. Now the fun begins! The next day I received a very polite call telling me my truck was about done but it did not pass inspection. They noted that all 4 brake pads were bad, the front rotors were bad (measured 1.40) and the right rear shock was bad. It would only be $1300 to make the necessary fixes. Now I might have fallen for the inspection results except for that the brake pads were new, the shocks were new and the rotors had just been turned down. When I mean new, they were 13 months old with less than 2000 miles. (Unfortunately I can't post the photos of the brakes that I took off, priceless.) When I heard about the brake pads, I asked how they were bad because they were just replaced. The tech on the phone uncomfortably paused and then said the pads were fine for thickness but the backs were falling off. Not sure how they inspected that because I do not believe they remove the calipers to inspect, but rest assured I did today. Must have been some magic healing because not one brake pad was "falling apart" or the backs coming off. I am wondering what truck they inspected. As for the shock, I had a mechanic friend of mine take a good look. I wanted to make sure I was not seeing things. His exact words, "hell the shock is brand new". There was nothing wrong with it. Now for the front rotors. Since they were recently turned they looked spotless. Not one scratch, grove, shiny spot etc. I happen to be a machinist by trade and I have the micrometers to measure the rotors. Why yes, they were wrong again. They measured 1.414 (they quoted 1.40). I am a very truthful person and I will admit that minimums are 1.417. These pristine rotors were .003 (3 thousandths) of an inch under. I know minimums are minimums but it is a truck, not the space shuttle. What I am trying to say is if you have enemies, you should send them here. But for anyone else, do not let them go here for an inspection unless you want them to leave with an empty wallet. read more

Dropped wife off at Chiro appointment in Phoenixville and saw Tires Plus next door. Her Jeep sounded bad, being well overdue for oil change. I asked if they could get one done within 30 minutes while wife was at appointment next door. With no notice, they took it right in and got it done! Thank you Pete! Car sounds great now! I am leaving this review for my Mother who is a senior citizen and not very computer savvy. She had her oil changed at this shop and the used the wrong oil filter. This caused all the oil to drain out of the car while she was driving. She is on limited income and Tires Plus is not doing anything about it. They have been rude and are trying to ignore the situation in hopes that she will just go away. They have not owned up to the mistake and seem to have no intention to. DO NOT go here they are incompetent, rude and don't care about there customers. My mother who can't afford to retire and needs to work to make ends meet. She has missed work because of their mistake and is looking at a bill close to $10,000 for a new engine which she can not afford. Tires Plus has been totally irresponsible in owning up to the mistake. Take your car here at your own risk!! If they screw up you will be left holding the bag for there carelessness!!! Let me start by saying that im not good with cars..at all! haha I bought a piece of crap car and was told it would last a year and it lasted 3 months. Well I took it first to Tires Plus to get a wheel put on since I got a flat and they were very quick and efficient about it. Next I had some problems steering (the latest problem) and I thought it was the wheel alignment. So I took it in to get the wheels aligned. They came out about a half hour later and said that it wasnt the alignment and that something else was wrong. The person that could figure out what was wrong was out for the day so I had to leave it overnight. They called first thing in the morning and said that it for sure wasn't the alignment and said that my frame was cracked and since its an older car it couldn't be fixed unless I wanted to put a ton of money into it..which I do not have. So they explained every single thing in detail when I came to clean out my car and they made it very easy for me to understand what was going on and they even took a picture with their cell phone so they could show me the damage. They also informed me that I could keep it parked there for as long as I needed until I figured out what to do. This place has seriously the nicest people inside working and they explain everything so that someone who isnt a mechanic or good with cars would understand what was going on. I would recommend this place to every single person I know if all the people I know didn't live so far from it haha. But seriously..best place ever! read more

Getting ready for a long trip & the tire icon on the dashboard lit up. Don't need that kind of anxiety. Took the car to this Tires Plus. They checked all tires for nails, etc. No signs of any punctures. There was some evidence of corrosion on a rim which may have caused the tire to become slightly unseated. Corrosion was removed & I was told to return in a few days to have the tire pressure checked again. Anxiety gone. Now I can hit the road a happy camper. read more

While pleasant and professional, the business was sketchy and not 100% honest. I took my car here for an inspection. They called to tell me that the car had failed inspection due to the check engine light. He quickly changed his statement and said they couldn't even inspect it because of the check engine light. He wanted to charge me $89 to run a diagnostic on it. I know AutoZone does this for free so I stated on the phone that I would take it to autozone. He told me I was still required to pay for inspection. I called a few mechanics and did some research. It turns out I was only required to pay for the emissions inspection and that once a check engine light is on, the mechanic isn't supposed to touch the car. He had quoted me for both inspections. When I arrived I asked whether or not the car was inspected. His story changed again to say that the technician briefly glanced at the car and he wasn't sure if whether or not the car was fully inspected. He went to talk to the technician. He agreed to only charge me for emissions. I paid the emissions fee. He gave me a paper with the title "complete vehicle inspection" the paper was completed entirely with claims of oil leaks and comments on brake pads, motor mount, and spark plugs. For someone who "briefly glanced" at the car, the inspection paper was completely filled out. Now, while I was not required to pay that fee, I am concerned that had I not been skeptical and done research regarding policies, this place would have ripped me off.
