last Friday, I had the pleasure of taking my car in for an inspection. Much to chagrin I was told that I needed to replace the windshield, wipers, and that emergency needed repair. I was told that if I did the repairs highlighted on the receipt to bring the car back, they would do a reinspection that would take 15 minutes. I made an appointment took the car to them. 15 minutes in. I was told I needed new brakes and rotors. The manager Kyle showed me in the shop the rear brakes. I asked if we just put the pads on with the pass at first he said no then he said for $100 they would do the pads and that the car would pass. I told him to give me back my car and I would take it somewhere else. So to add insult to injury, I was charged an additional $10. read more

I don't feel that they honored the price that they initially quoted me for Michelin tires. It seemed as though they charged me an extra cost for the pack kit, which are the pressure sensors. The pack kit was always included in the price. He also said that my car was in need of inspection coming up, later to check and find out it was, inspected last month at Goodyear. It kind of confused me at the time because I do have two vehicles and my truck is due for inspection at the end of March. I called the day after to their corporate On this and about a previous alignment for my GMC truck where the steering wheel wasn't centered after alignment. That was at another location. When I spoke to corporate today, they confirmed my viewpoint that the price that they quote you should be the price that you have to pay, TMP air packs included. They offered me a $40 voucher and took my email address to send it to me the next time I visit an area shop. Maybe I'll try Chatham, as I hear that they have a good reputation. My experience here has been OK, it just feels like I was talking to a car salesman instead of a service advisor and was concerned that Ryan didn't know that the price that I was quoted prior was the price that you pay, including the TMI pressure sensor packs. Just thought I'd give you all a heads up in case you're running into the same situation. read more

They take appointments - but they don't mean anything. The guy at the counter said "The way we do things here, is that appointments basically just let us know you're coming in - but they don't reserve your spot in line. We do things first come first serve" I was standing at the counter at ten for the appointment I had set over the phone the day before. He said it "would be 45 mins before we even touch the car." Then another 45-mins to an hour for the inspection. I only have the one car - so I'm stuck here. Meaning that during a global pandemic, I'm required to sit indoors in their waiting room for almost two hours? I asked if I could just come back in 45 mins when they would be ready - but he said if I leave and come back - I would lose my spot in line to anyone that comes in while I'm away. What is the purpose of making an appointment? Why not say over the phone that all services are first come first serve? Look, if that's the way you want to run your business, fine - but don't take appointments if they're meaningless. read more

Should be ashamed of yourselves!! ALWAYS trying to up sell. Went in for an oil change and told there was a nail in front tire. And needed 4 brand new tires because vehicle was all wheel drive. SERIOUSLY??!! Tires were less than a year old!! Didn't offer to plug?? Just 4 new tires. Shameful. Went in for inspection sticker a few years ago on a 1 year old car. They refused to put on sticker because windshield wiper had a tear in it. WHAT??!! Since they had already removed old sticker was basically forced to purchase $40 wipers. Kicker... 1st time I used wipers drivers side Went flying off. I think I've finally learned my lesson. read more

We took our van in for inspection one recent Saturday and Mavis did their once over and said it needed about $1500.00 worth of repairs to the front end: brakes, rotors, etc. We asked for a written estimate with what work needed to be done. We were told by Mavis that they don't do that. Well then, we don't do Mavis. We left. I took the day off during the week and took the van over to a garage that's only open during the week. Passed right through inspection and the mechanic said there was nothing wrong with the front end - all brakes were good. We'll never go to Mavis again. read more

I really wanted to give this 5 stars but I just can't. I was very grateful that Mavis took me the same day and that they tried to lower my original estimated price by throwing in some coupons for me. Ryan also worked on the car the whole day to get it out by closing time, which I really appreciated. They fixed the issue I had with my power steering and stabilitrak sensors by replacing all the sensors and wheel hubs, and they suggested that I get all of my brakes redone. I decided that I was only going to get the back brakes done. When I pulled out of the shop at closing, my front tires sounded like metal on metal and they didn't sound that way when I took the car in. I called back the next morning and told them the problem and they said "that's what happens when you put bad parts back together and you told me not to do the front brakes and I wasn't going to beat a dead horse. If you want to bring it in we can do the front brakes for you." I did not go back. I went to a local business to have them look at my car and they said the front brakes were fine and that a plate was just bent when the parts were put back together causing the "metal on metal" sound. The local business said that Mavis definitely knew it was the bent plate from my description but wanted to scam me out of money by getting them replaced when they didn't need to be. Very disappointing. Honesty is a characteristic I highly value in a business and people and I feel like I didn't get full honesty at this Mavis. read more

After my brand new tire blew and I needed an emergency tire repair, because I was traveling out-of-state, Mavis came to the rescue. I had my cat with me and needed to have the repair completed ASAP. I went online and made a reservation to get my Tesla inspected at this establishment. When making the reservation I entered my vehicle information and selected the date. Today I showed up a few minutes early for my appointment and was told when I checked in that they don't inspect Teslas. The explanation was that should something go wrong in the inspection with one of my safety systems they would not have the knowledge to repair it as they do not service Teslas. I explained that I did not expect anything to fail inspection and therefore would like them to inspect my vehicle with the full understanding that if something did not pass inspection I would have to fail the inspection and take my Tesla elsewhere to get it serviced. They refused. So I ended up wasting a trip to this place to try and get my car inspected when it would have been nice if the website had simply told me that I couldn't go get my car inspected here. Wasting a customer's time always upsets me. When I do need a product or service that they can offer I certainly will not go to them in the future. Who knows they might be a wonderful place to go if you have a vehicle they want to work on. But since in my case they only seem to want to inspect vehicles where they think they can make money repairing systems that fail the inspection I find the entire process rather dishonest. read more

Poor customer service. Was told new set of tires would be installed in 1.5 hours, did I want to wait or come back. As I had other errands to run, I said I'd be back in 2 hours and left my number. Returned two hours later to discover they were just starting to work on my car even though I had been one of the first to arrive that morning. Left again, to return another 2 hours later. No follow-up phone call to confirm the work had been completed, no apology for misleading information. Is everyone who answers the telephone at Mavis called Omar? Never again. I can find better, more professional and customer-focused places to spend my money. read more

My tires pressure light was on, tires appeared to be properly inflated, so I stopped by to see if someone could take a look. Jody came right out, gave me a quick tutorial on proper inflation, checked them himself and concluded that it was the sensor that was the issue. Went for an inspection and left $850 later with new rear brakes. When I returned weeks later saying that the brakes had been squealing since their repair, they recommended new front brakes. I declined and went to my trusted mechanic - who immediately saw my frame was severely rusted and too dangerous - telling me to get the truck (beautiful above the frame, only 70K miles) off the road. Stopped by with a tire OFF THE CAR to ask if they could put a plug in tire. One of 4 tires I bought there 3 or so months ago. This is a 5 minute job. Manager red or yellow hair dude says "can you leave it for the afternoon?" I mentioned, it is off the car can it just get plugged? I'll wheel it in. I want to put it back on wife's car. His answer was to say "I have to get a mechanic." There were three or four working in the bays and just ONE customer waiting in the waiting room. So, I ask, "how long will that take?" His reply, "at least a half hour to an hour." So, I said no thanks, "I'll go somewhere else and when I need more tires, I'll get them somewhere else, too." So, this is their best "customer service?" I went there to get my annual car inspection on the company car. The company I work for is registered in NY. I live in MA so I make my annual trek to NY for a sticker. They did a great job and found that I needed front brakes. They fixed the brakes for what I thought was very reasonable. So it's been a year now and I am back again for another sticker. I have experienced repeated incidents of poor customer service and poor quality work at Mavis. Even through several staffing changes, this business consistently provides poor service. I used to love working with this business but they hired a grossly incompetent manager a few yearsago. I've gone back a few times to see if they managed to fix their staffing problems but they haven't. Save yourself some time and go elsewhere for your service needs. read more

Keep driving!! Beware!! This place is dangerously terrible. Bought three new tires here, and waited an hour and a half for them to be installed. OK. But from then on, I had to put air in every day or so...constantly leaking air and going flat. Came back....another hour and a half later, the surly manager (who never quite looks you in the eye, and didn't seem to care that the problem was from their install) said "you're all set." I'm all set? I would have been "all set" if I had never gone there! Two days later, the car starts making a terrible noise, and front right tire comes off while driving!! Incredible. Take it to Trombley's in Kinderhook...a real garage with good service...he had three cars in there at the time that were "Mavis mishaps."
