Shay at Mavis saved the day. I discovered another location had over torqued a wheel bolt into place on my car. Sadly, I didn't know that until I was left stuck on the side of the road, unable to change my own tire. I had had this issue in the past and was ready to have to fight with someone, screaming, yelling, and begging for them to stand up and just address it. All the typical angry customer drama was completely unnecessary in this case thanks to Shay. Not only did Shay ensure that I was taken care of immediately after towing my car there, she also explained everything thoroughly, making sure I had a spare wheel bolt before attempting to extract the frozen one & that I knew what to expect if Shay couldn't get it removed. Shay also made sure to check all the other wheels so this wouldn't happen again in the future. Shay & inspected all of the work personally. Top notch. Shay is professional, technically proficient, and on point. I was retail district manager & worked & managed customer service for 30 years. I would make sure to hold on to employees like Shay & make sure to put them in a position to lead and train people immediately if Shay worked for me. No drama. No shortcuts. No needless questions. This Mavis location always comes through for me in a clutch. My vehicles have frequently been serviced here from new tires to oil changes. I never feel like I am being upsold and still receive decent quality service. Shay is awesome and it obviously a seasoned, faithful Mavis employee. Better to get your car in early but even mid day or end of the day you are serviced in a reasonable amount of time. The mavis card is a nice advance as it's interest free for a specified amount of time. No frills location but gets the job done. read more

Wow, after ten years our relationship is coming to an end. They have taken on a new attitude of "I do not care; it's not my problem." They do not say those words, but it comes across in their tone, words, and lack of care. I had a flat tire on the highway; I got it to Mavis on Landstar Road. They repaired the tire but did not check any other tires even after I asked them to check. I paid and got on the road, and another tire blew out on the highway; not only did that happen, but the tire they had just repaired was flat. Hours later, all the Mavis rep could tell me was if you get it back here, I can help you. I replaced the donut but would have to have a tow. Someone stopped with a portable air compressor, and I could put air in my tire. I drove it to a Mavis, where I had work done all other times. Just left there, the air held in the tire. I asked them why it would go flat like that. He said he could not speculate, but when asked why any other tire was flat, he was glad to imagine that it could be a nail, a screw, much like that other rep. They even mentioned that I may have been a disappearing nail or screw. All I know is that they were little help, left me with the feeling they really did not care, risked my life by not checking the other tires, and got defensive when there was a possibility that they did something wrong. "what do you want me to do about it, What do you want, I do not speculate except when it comes what is in my favor." Seriously, we deserve better. Oh yeah, one last thing, it's unbelievable. I am sorry for your trouble. I went to another Mavis that couldn't assess my check engine light, so I redirected here without an appointment. They were upfront that it may take a while and recommended dropping off the car. Which made sense as they had very few chairs to wait in so it wouldn't be a desirable wait, but they are near a shopping plaza if you need to wait, you can kill time walking to something else. I googled the general cost of the engine code and what it could be up to in price, and they were about at the high end of that range, but they waived the inspection fee. Without taking it somewhere else, it seemed like a reasonable but high cost that was in line with what my general understanding was. They were able to get it fixed by end of day, so as far as I can tell, it was a reasonable cost done in a reasonable time frame. It was a bit of a wait to get the initial assessment but I didn't have an appointment so they could have been really busy. I wish the waiting area was a bit more inviting as sometimes you have to wait, but I got the engine fixed in a day (Saturday which is probably their busiest) and they are open Sunday, so that daily convenience made things a lot easier on me. read more

Came here to have wheels and tires mounted, ended up having to come back twice after the first time. First visit the car seemed fine but then was having vibration on the Highway. Brought it back to have wheels rebalanced, they ended up only doing the front wheels. Turns out the vibration is coming from the rear. So had to bring it back again to balance the rear wheels. They lost two valve stem caps, and the tech didn't even know how to properly put the lug nuts back on (they did it in a clock wise pattern and not a star pattern, which I ended up retightening the nuts at home with a torque wrench) One of the TPMs valves were not properly assembled and the screws to tighten them were all loose. Go else where and pay a little more for quality and peace of mind. Now I wonder on the Highway if my wheels will just fall off one of these days. read more

WORST SERVICE - DAMAGED MY CAR Dishonest and super sketchy! I took my vehicle for two new tires, balancing, and alignment on 12/15/21. To my surprise, I noticed shortly (within the hour) that there was damage on my front driver-side door. I called them explained the situation to the store manager Alberto, who told me he would report to the regional manager Sean Davis. He asked me to pass by (again) because Sean Davis had requested he take pictures of the damage. Had to interrupt my workday, to show Alberto the damage. He tried to convince me it did not happen while it was in the shop (maybe once they moved the vehicle to the parking it happened, but note in their shop - said one of the techs). Never heard from Sean Davis (Regional Manager) so I called the store today to figure out why nobody had contacted me. Conveniently enough for the shop, Alberto (he was not comfortable providing his last name) immediately said a cart from Staples hit my car. I asked for the video and he said a customer saw it happen and was the one who told him. @Sean Davis, what type of operation are you running? I showed the damage to my insurance adjuster and within a minute he said that the damage was clearly from the lift. Hope this review helps expose this shop and its bad business practice. read more

Horrible place. My mother had her car repaired there. They charged for 3 power steering hoses! Then told her she had other issues. Shocks and tie rod! Classic fix one thing then find other things wrong. She did not need tie rods and shocks and an alignment. They took advantage of my mother. She drove the car home and was still unable to steer! Power steering fluid was leaking everywhere. I'm an Army veteran and Veterans moms do not deserve this . Americans don't deserve this. Do not deal with Alberto or anyone here. Mavis please inquire on this crew. My Mother brought her Ford Edge for a Power Steering Issue. She left the location and the power steering failed as she was driving. I checked the invoice and she was charged for Power Steering Cooler $90 (this is $22 part in Auto Zone) Return hose $90. ($20 part in autozone) THREE Power steering pressure hoses $120 each total $360 (this is $51 part in Auto Zone and u only need one hose not three. The they proceeded to rip off my mother even more. By replacing something she didn't need. Rear shock 2x $130 Total $260 ($60 at auto zone) Outer tire rod $89 ( $23 in Autozone) Right read tie rod $120 (driver and passenger is $32 in Auto zone) She drove the car and the pump failed! Scheduled an appointment for an oil change this morning at 10am at the Dover NJ location. I saw an advertisement that a regular oil change was $29.99, but when I asked the service manager he said it is $65 for my 1.5 liter engine Escape! I referred to the lower price and he told me they could do it for that "Without a new oil filter". When I showed him a price of $34.99 at Mineke he agreed to do it for that price. I was 15 minutes early for the 10am appointment but at 10:50 my car was not even in the bay. I had another appointment, so I had to leave. It was crystal clear by his awful attitude that he was angry that I would not pay the outrageous price of $65 for a simple oil change so he delayed service on my car until i left. Took my car in for inspection, tire balancing, and an oil change. Turns out I also needed new brakes and wipers. Ok, no problem. Work was done quickly, price seemed reasonable, I left the store happy. No sooner have I gotten out of the lot then I hear a noise under the car. I work close by, pull into the lot and look. One of my tires is flat! I hadn't run over anything, it was clearly put back on the car that way. I took it to a tire shop as Mavis was already closed. At the tire shop, the mechanic notices that the wiper blades were shot. The wiper blades I had just paid to change! Don't go if you are in hurry. I stopped by and the manager assured me that they can inspect my tire immediately. I came back 30 minutes later and nothing was done to inspect the tire -- the car was still out in the parking lot. I could hear the manager summoning a tech and the tech was walking over to my car. At that point it was too late for me and I had to leave. When I asked the manager how this could have happened when there were two idle techs chatting when I first walked in, he mumbled something about the technician being busy, handed me back the key and didn't even apologize. I pulled in and when I go to the employees to ask for help they turn me down because it was 15 minutes to closing. Very rude and unprofessional! Do not go to this Mavis. My wife went there for a simple tire plug/ fix. Since we were due for an oil change, we decided to get it done there as well. The day after, we received an alert that the tire pressure was low so naturally we brought it back to have them check it out. The Car was at home all night. We didn't go anywhere, but we heard air coming out. Took it back and asked them to check. Apparently it was was a completely different tire with another screw in wall of the tire now, which means it needed to be completely replaced. Of course they didn't have the matching tire so now they are trying to sell us 2 new tires, because "they need to match." Anyway this is already looking real shady so we decline and decide to go elsewhere. Now all of a sudden the low oil notification light is coming on. We stopped at a gas station only to find out "There is barely any Oil In the Car". This is a brand new car with low miles. We've barely driven it anywhere since covid. Warning: If you bring your car here they will charge you 90 dollars just to get an estimate to find out how much it costs to fix your problem. I never consented to this fee and they only told me after I refused the repairs that I would be charged 90 dollars for a diagnostic fee. In my case they charged 90 dollars just to give me an absurd estimate for over 3000 dollars in repairs. After I refused they also claimed my windshield wipers were "shredded" and tried to sell me new wipers. I ended up paying the diagnostic fee under protest just to get my keys back. Easily the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. This appointment was scheduled at 8am and they didn't get back to me until 3pm. 7 hours just to scan the check engine light, not even look at the car to diagnose the actual problem and then tell me I need to pay them over 3000 dollars. And then after I refused they hit me with a 90 dollar so called "diagnostic fee" and tried to sell me new windshield wipers. Money hungry with zero integrity. When I asked for a paper copy of the diagnosis and the price of the repairs written down they were initially hesitant to do so until I insisted. This is likely because they did not even look at the car and just decided "they already said whats wrong with it so lets just replace every possible part in the world that could potentially cause it" For a hidden 90 dollar fee I would have at least expected them to take the time to look into the problem. When I took it a local mechanic a few days later they actually did a proper diagnostic for free and saved me thousands extra that Mavis would have charged me on fake repairs I didn't need. The previous owners of this place were great people who actually cared and wanted to help out customers. I used to go here with my dad when he was still alive and that is why I trusted this place in the first place. The new ownership is seemingly more concerned about maximizing the amount of money they can trick people into giving up. read more

Car was ready but I noticed something the valve cap were missing.When I told service manager to him it was no big deal. he just handed me 2 caps to put on.I paid 1300.00$ for this. they paid no attention to detail. Did not even clean the tires.Will I come back I don't think so. Went to Mavis for a price on tires for my 1988 Grand Marquis. P215/70R15 BF Goodrich Advantage tires. Tire price online was 129.95 ea. plus installation. Total price on line was $639 plus tax. The person at the counter told me that the price would be $950. Although the tire price was higher in store (for what ever reason I do not understand)I asked why so much higher than the on line price, She said it included an alignment and road hazard, I only asked for price on tires. Our regular mechanic told us we needed a tire replacement and recommended either Mavis or Pep Boys. Mavis was $80 cheaper, so we went there. While Michelle at the front desk was great--nice, responsive--the problems started when a repair person came out and told us that when putting on the tires, she'd discovered that our brake pads, rotors and fluid were completely shot. She said they could fix it--for another $1,200--and told me that I had to make up my mind in the next 10 minutes or they wouldn't be able to get the parts in time. After 10 minutes, I said no, and that maybe I'd come back the next day after I spoke with my wife about the extra $$$. Well, lo and behold, the next day I took it to our regular mechanic and he said the brake pads and everything else were totally fine, there was no need to replace anything for a year or so. Then I went online and found that Mavis is known for pulling this on lots of people and has even been taken to court about it. The tire installment seems to be fine, and if that was that, I'd be writing a more positive review. But it's hard to write a good review when you know they tried to scam you out of $1,200. (And as a bonus: they had spilled oil on one of the back seats, a stain that can't be removed.) read more

Easily could have called customers with appointments in the afternoon ahead of time to explain the situation. Went back the next day for a morning appointment and was told it would be an hour before the car would begin to be serviced. They kept saying I never followed up and were quite committed to the lie, but said "in the interest of customer service" they would replace the tires with ones that would fit. Right. Had to have LEFT front headlight on Cadillac CTS replaced. They decided to try to "fix" the RIGHT front one as well and in the course of doing it, broke the clear casing and did who knows what else. We didn't ask them to touch the right one. As a "make-good" they offered to forego the labor (only) on the repair to the right one. As if I would ever trust them to touch my car again. Took it to my trusted mechanic (who was closed when this all started) and it will cost us $700 we didn't need to spend had we not gone to Mavis. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

Visited when it was STS, but this was the first as Mavis. Came for the state inspection, an oil change and the free tire rotation (coupon from the Mavis website). Tom and Dave were VERY patient to say the least with the laundry list of "special requests". Normally it takes about 2 hours for those items to be done, but 1.5 hours later, the bill was being paid. Dave was great at taking off the old sticker in practically 1 piece. They were good about answering questions. What would've even been better is being able to see the inspection screen. read more

I was overcharged for tire. In store prices are different than online. The manager Steve wanted to fight with me because I was arguing about the price difference. The worker that actually worked on my car was too busy on his phone instead of working on my car. Very rude and unprofessional. The tire was also manufactured two years ago so be careful because they are selling older tires even though they are new the older tires can blow out on you depending on they were stored. My husband had a flat tire and pulled in here a few minutes after 6 PM. He was told there was no way they could fix it this evening and he'd have to come back in the morning. He asked them again nicely if they could take 10 minutes to plug the tire so he could get home which is about 15 minutes away again he was refused, he sat out in the parking lot for four hours waiting for another service to come to help him. I returned today to pick up his key fob that he left with them thinking that they would fix it in the morning. The gentleman at the counter was very rude and unapologetic when I asked, could they really not have helped him for something that would take 10 to 15 minutes. he was condescending and inappropriate for somebody working with customers.
