My experience with Mavis Tire was more than stellar. I have used them a few times and was very pleased each time. Not only was the work that I needed meticulously done, but also I paid substantially less than a few of their competitors that I had received quotes from! Mavis Auto does much more than tires and brakes; they do a wide variety of maintenance and repairs for your vehicle. Most impressive, was the professionalism and courteousness of the team. You are acknowledged when you arrive there even if a few people might happen to be ahead, and that's refreshing; notwithstanding, after you may have gone to other places that haven't figured out how important being acknowledged affects any business. A master of great customer oriented skills is Jamie, who also takes care of you at the front desk, is a natural. Jamie truly rivals the best of the genuine customer service you will find anywhere! Not only will he will take care of you at the front desk; but it is obvious he is very knowledgeable about the mechanics of vehicles, so knowledgeable I believe he is probably a mechanic himself. Also, I appreciated the honesty and courteousness of the A+ mechanic who worked on my vehicle, both showing and explaining things to me was spot on. Lastly, I can't speak on anyone who may have left less than stellar reviews but would venture to say, regarding cars that need it; it's hard for anyone to accept being told if and when its plausible that their vehicle may need an expensive repair; no doubt something undesirable to hear from any or other shops as well if that happened to have been the case. I had a terrible experience at the Mavis located at 1798 N Hercules Ave, Clearwater, FL. I brought in my son's RN after he did his own research and suspected an issue with the front right wheel bearing. Mavis test drove it and told us it was the control arm, quoting $1,000 for the repair. We agreed, and they called us the next day saying the car was ready for pickup. When I arrived that morning, the car was still on the lift. No apology--just attitude, as if it was my fault for coming when they had said it was ready. I had to come back hours later to finally get the car. We paid the full amount, took it home, and it was still making the exact same noise. We brought it back the very next day and were told it was actually the front right wheel bearing--and now it would be another $800 to fix. They admitted they never test drove the car after the first repair and offered zero accountability or apology. When I asked them to take responsibility for the misdiagnosis and fix it for free, they refused. Things escalated when a mechanic from outside got involved and threatened to beat me up. Totally unprofessional and dangerous. We ended up taking the car to another local mechanic who fixed the actual issue--the front right wheel bearing--for just $400. Now the car runs perfectly. This whole experience confirmed why people don't trust mechanics. This Mavis location is untrustworthy, careless, and hostile. Avoid it at all costs. read more

By phone and written instructions at key drop off we asked for oil change and TIRE rotation. They forgot to rotate the TIRES and yet were able to suggest the need for rear break caliper replacement due to uneven wear, and new shocks and struts. Pretty sure as a TIRE company you need to get dang close to the TIRES to assess that. I'll stick with my regular mechanic for a brainless oil change. Waste of time and I've lost confidence in the company. Word spreads fast...might want to pay attention to the TIRES! read more

I paid $568.00 for a leak that wasn't fix. The front desk said when I brought the car back said that it was due to overflow of excess oil they put. So I waited for several days more and still the same. Since they don't know the real cause of the problem and they are just guessing so I went to different auto shop and right there he told me the problem and waited for 2 days for the part to arrive and my problem was resolved. I stopped in to have a tire checked for a slow leak....the guy told me he would get to it as fast as he could....so I sat in the lobby area to wait. In a reasonable amount of time a guy came to the counter and told me you are good to go. Not saying what the problem was....I asked him and he replied oh we patched it. Anytime I haver ever had a tire fixed they would show me the nail or screw or whatever had punctured the tire. They charged me $29.95 The guys manner seemed somewhat suspicious...but I was not going to get into a argument over that amount of money. But I am very dubious of what they actully did. I would suggest to management that they require the employees to show the customer what caused the slow leak...be it a nail, screw or whatever. I will never go there again....the way they handled the manner I do not think was proper and created a sir of suspicion which could have easily been avoided by showing me the punctured tire before they patched it. read more

They come across as very nice. I was new in town. My brother recommended. They told me I needed expensive repair. As I waited I noticed that every person coming end was told they needed an expensive repair. First red flag. A week after repair was told the noise I heard was normal when brakes are breaking in. Three weeks later, they drive (not inspect) and tell me it's struts. Second red flag. Had to get the work redone elsewhere. Considering taking them to small claims court. read more

Stoped by this place for 2 new tires just made an appointment and some guy who worked there ordered me the wrong size tires, then some other guy who worked there was explaining to me that my tires were bigger then the back 2, and was also explaining to me problems that can Occurred when I drive it, then said "I basically wasted my entire day by dropping it off" he replied "you gave us the wrong size tires" And then I said "no I didn't" So I had to wait two days for them order the right ones to put the correct size tires on my car!! My boyfriend took his car in a couple days ago to get new brakes, alignment adjustments, & tire rotation before our trip to key west. Made the mechanic aware that we would be traveling the 8 hours to key west. No problem. 7 hours into our drive (thank god this didn't happen on the expressway), our breaks start to stick, so bad to the point where we are stranded on the side of the road & the car won't move forward. Called a local repair shop only for them to find an entire bolt missing from the brake pad (likely due to laziness on Mavis' mechanic part & not checking to see if all bolts were tightened). They had my car for 5 days-everyday another story and more $!! When my 80 year old husband went in to get it today our bill was outrageous and they were not at all helpful--no manager or a person who knew what was going on available. After all this the car locks no longer work nor the radio--he was told he had to take it to the Honda dealer to have a security code installed!! Any reputable dealer would have taken care of that. My husband is a very mild manner man and not into screaming and yelling ! I wish I had sent someone with him as they definitely took advantage of him and did work not as authorized nor did they advise us of the cost of each additional item as it occurred!! I brought my car to the Main street Dunedin location. I reported to the manager that had no teeth his name was Greg. He's a con man through and through. Anyway my car needed new spark plugs and an alignment and a man named Cliff real scruffy looking character but talked like he was respectful and knew things. He drove my car in and an hour later pulled it back around. I noticed jet black fingerprints on my pink wallet I was stupid enough to leave in my car. Nothing was missing but noticed that a day later 3 of my credit and debit cards were being attempted to send money on western union and cash app. This asshole has my card info I had to close those cards immediately. Thank God he couldn't get anything. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. But I assure you that I will be filing a police report agai st this so called trusted business. Their equipment doesn't work properly for some of their services, their printer doesn't work to give you an alignment report, they are rude, unprofessional, not truthful, don't answer the phone, hang up on you, took 3 trips to finally complete my OLF, tire rotation, and alignment with 1 of those trips heading to Mavis in Clearwater. Worst Experience i've ever had at ANY auto shop. My husband and i went in only to get an alignment. They took my car and put it up and we're just staring at it. A worker came up to us and told us to come take a look. He took us under the car and showed us that he "couldn't do the alignment because my tire rods were bent." So me and my husband looked under the car and clearly saw my tire rods were not bent. He also REFUSED to do the alignment before i replaced 2 of my tired which according to him "were completely ruined" even though they still had plenty of traction left on them. He also said that my shocks were completely destroyed which they aren't and he even if i wanted to replace them he said he couldn't because they were to damaged. He wanted me to fix parts that weren't even necessary to complete an alignment and we're extremely rude to me and my husband. Who refuses service for no reason? Needless to say i took my car to another place where they completely my alignment perfectly fine and confirmed with me that my tire rods were not bent at all. These people are scammers who only want your money. They're liars there's nothing wrong with my car and the other shop i took it to confirmed that. If i could give a 0 star review i would. Still getting a squeaking noise from the right rear brake after I had new brakes put on all around. I have been taking my 2 cars to this shop for 5 years. Today, I wised up. Last few visits, there have been problems. Parts not re-attached. Dashboard warning light ignored. Yesterday, the service writer, Ron, tells me I need new struts. An expensive job. BUT...if I acted right away, there's a $300 promotional offer...but I have to do it before Dec. 31. I get suspicious of hard sell. I went to another mechanic to get a second opinion. Guess what? Nothing wrong. BUT there was a big knot on one of the tires. That's an immediate safety hazard. I wonder...How the heck do you examine struts and not notice a big knot in a tire? And, I'd asked them to check the brakes. How do you check the brakes and not notice?? It's too bad.
