A year later update. My hubby did not believe that the circuit board was unobtainable and did some research. He found the part and ordered it from a vendor in Charlotte and replaced it himself. I'm happy to report that the refrigerator has been running great ever since. Many friends/family have since reported similar experiences with repair people who suggest buying new vs repair. I understand their position because things are often not made to last. But it's an expensive option, so do some research. Again, Max was nice and did help us figure out what was needed. read more

So happy I called Max Appliance. The ice maker in my Samsung refrigerator stopped working and we couldn't get the bucket out to see if something was jammed. I called Max Appliance in the morning and was surprised to find he could come out later that same day. It took him about an hour to get the bucket out and free the mechanism. He then checked everything out and told us the best temp settings for fridge and freezer to hopefully avoid this issue that's common for this make fridge, and then just charged us for a service call. HWA warranty assigned this company. They came out and diagnosed a failed control board. During the process of reassembling the unit to wait for the part and come back out and reinstall the unit started functioning again. The technician told us to contact him when it stopped working in order to replace it. So 5 weeks passed and the board failed again and instead of making good on the promise to resolve it, max appliance repair refuses to do so because it's was 1 week outside of their 30 day period read more

Had Max out last month to fix my Whirlpool fridge. The freezer was fine but the fridge wasn't getting cold. He came out and cleaned the coil and vacuumed under the fridge and said that it just needed to be serviced...$125. Three days later I called and said it wasn't working again and the coil in the freezer section was frozen over again. He came back out and said it was the Thermostat Control Panel...$225. Three days later I called him back and said the coil is frozen over and the fridge side still not cooling...He came back out and looked it over and said he couldn't fix it. Gave me back $175 of the $350 I paid him...I then went online and did 10 minutes of research, ordered a new thermostat ($9.50) and installed it. Fridge is working fine. Sorry Max, I'm unimpressed. read more

He is amazing!! My dryer was acting crazy and I decided to call a repairman to find out if it could be salvaged. Max came out and diagnosed my issue and sure enough it was an easy fix with the right parts. Instead of purchasing a brand new washer/dryer I had my old fixed; good as new! Saved me a ton of money. His prices are very reasonable and he explains everything and showed me exactly what was wrong and what probably caused the issue. I really appreciated his honesty. Max Appliance. A very nice man but one might wonder about his ability to repair Samsung refrigerators. When my refrigerator was making strange noises, I called. Max Appliance came, opened the refrigerator door looked inside and said there was nothing wrong with the refrigerator. Two days later when there were again strange noises I again called. Again, I was told there was nothing wrong. Max Appliance never removed a panel. I was charged for each visit. I left the day after the last visit on a 10 day vacation. When I returned, the refrigerator temperature was 55 degrees. I called Max Appliance and was told I would again be charged for a visit. (There is no guarantee on workmanship) That was enough. I called Mr. Appliance 336-609-5700. Floyd came, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. There is a year's guarantee. Maybe Max Appliance is good at appliances other than refrigerators. read more

I can definitely recommend Max Appliance Repair. My 10 yr old Maytag Refrigerator wasn't making ice or keeping the freezer cold. Melted ice cream! Max was here 30 minutes after my call. He slid out the fridge from the wall, unscrewed the back panel and in 5 minutes was able to pronounce my unit a goner. The compressor worked but there was a massive Freon leak. Just to locate the leak and refill the Freon would be around $800! Not worth it at all for the age of the unit. He even gave my mother and I a $10 discount since his visit was short and the news not good. I was very pleased with his quick, honest diagnosis. I will call Max Appliance Repair again in the future when we have other appliance repair needs. read more

Max came out as he was assigned by Choice Home Warranty as their technician. Our washer was not working properly. I paid the service fee, Max misdiagnosed the problem and had to come out a second time. He again assessed, came to a different conclusion, and filed the report. When Choice received the second claim, Max claimed it was overloaded machine that caused problem blaming us. The warranty company failed to pay for the repair or replacement. The machine is 11 years old. My professional technician, a second opinion I also paid said it is normal wear and tear. He has seen a few between 8 to 12 yrs old with similar issues. Thanks to Max, my washer still doesn't function, and Choice home warranty refused the claim because Max blamed us. Do not buy your home warranty from Choice !! They have the worst customer service ever. read more
