Max Baer Dog Park is nestled between some very nice baseball fields. The fields are well maintained, but the dog park definitely needs some attention. It's muddy after a rain so avoid going here if you don't want a happy but filthy dog! I wouldn't describe it as a clean park but it's big, has water spouts for the dogs, and provides both sun and shady areas. The people here are different. Not the most friendly group. I've heard many people comment on this- it's weird. It's worth mentioning that there is a challenge coming into the park because the dogs swarm the gate when you enter. Overall, most owners don't seem to have control over their dogs. The park is ok. I've visited at all times of day and notice that there's a regular crowd. I had a better time with my dogs in the open field next to the parking lot. read more

The entrance to the park was not as easy as I initially thought. There is also an elementary school nearby. Overall, I still think that it is a nice park. It offers a parking lot along with a short sand/dirt trail with a memorial. read more

Just started to take my pup to dog parks and this one is great. Decent parking and generally someone is always there. The people there have all been friendly and welcoming. If you park, go straight back and you'll see it! Things to know: - not separated so small and large dogs will be mixed - goods amount of trees for shade! - mix of grass and dirt. I really liked this dog park. I brought my dog around 200pm on a hot Saturday afternoon and there was no one around. Since there was nobody at the park I can't comment on how people handle their dogs or how vigilant they are when picking up after their dogs. I didn't feel the heat because the park has a couple benches under shaded areas. It does not have designated small and large dog areas. I walked around and the fences are pretty sturdy. There are chairs around the park and a couple dog toys. All clean up stations were fully stocked with doggie bags and I did not notice too many unpicked up messes. There is one water station with a few bowls. I like that the dog park is further into Max Baer Park and not right across a busy street. Parking lot is small but on a busy day, I assume people park on the street. The park is surrounded by baseball fields and other sport arenas so it's probably a cool place to watch games and bring your dog along. Overall not too bad for a small dog park! Obi had a good time and we had enough space to play with the chuck it toy! read more

We refer to this dog park as "poop park" since a lot of folks aren't diligent about cleaning up after their dogs. My husband doesn't mind it, but I refuse to gSo there, since there are other less gross dog parks in town. read more

Pros: It's quiet. Secluded in a neighborhood/park where not many people are aware of it's presence. Street location isn't very busy. Plenty of parking Pick up bags are provided Bathroom facilities (port-a-potty) Chairs for seating Plenty of shaded areas Not very muddy, even after it rained a couple of days ago. Fairly large Cons: Location! No one knows it's there, which adds onto the next one. No one ever comes. I've been several times, and I've only ever seen one other dog come. On various times of the day. Seating is provided, but majority of the chairs are really dirty. There is water facilities, but just a spicket. I prefer the dog fountains, as the water is always fresh (with drainage). Sitting water collects dirt, pee, gets hot, etc. Only one park, not separated into sizes. Fair distance away from the parking lot, with no pathway to the park. I'd assume the park gets really loud when there are games at the fields adjacent to it, which would ward me from coming on weekends. Which would also make parking an issue All and all, it's a nice park, but not worth making the trip for. It's probably an oasis for the locals, but I know/seen better. It's obviously not funded as much as the other dog parks in Livermore, and for a reason, it's doesn't get as much traffic as the other parks. Isabella read more

Livermore has 5 dog parks and I've been to 4 of them. So far this is the best one of the bunch. It's got a nice sized fenced in area with water for the dogs and a few benches for the people. There are plenty of trees to provide shade in the summer. I have only brought my dog here once because of the distance. He was being rather grumpy and snapped at 2 dogs so we left. The owners of the other dogs were very understanding and I think we left on good terms. It could be better by having a separate area for small dogs and/or a 'time-out' area, but other then that... If you're in Livermore and you need to get some energy out of the pooch, drive here and avoid the others. Some don't have any shade, another is on a hill (balls roll to the far corner) and another one is just yucky. I have not been to the one North of 580, so I may have to update my review when I visit there. read more

It makes me sad that this place is a little bit of a drive for me. It's kind of off Stanley, so if you live in the neighborhoods over there, you'd probably know the regulars, but if not the long drive down Stanley can get tedious. This is a pretty nice dog park, but there isn't a separate section for small dogs, which can be a concern. I also wish that more of the area was covered with grass. I know we're in a drought and got no business feverishly watering all the grass, but at least some upkeep would be nice. One corner with grass is so overgrown I get worried when my dogs goes over here. Looks kind of nasty, like there could be poop or ticks hiding in the taller parts. In the middle area theres a lot of seating, which I love, but there's also a lot of loose gravel. My dog runs to me where I'm sitting, screeches to a halt to grab her ball, and ends up cutting her pads on all of the tiny little rocks. Are they really necessary? For dogs who like to play rough..I don't know if I'd like that. Even dirt would be better. A very nice plus: A communal bucket of tennis balls. Sometimes people replace them, so they are always new and not chewed to death. A mixed bag: Some of the people. Well, actually most of the people there are very nice and look after their dogs in case someone gets rowdy. One older guy I was talking to was playing with my dog, was trying to get her to drop her ball, and demonstrated that you can always get them to drop it by pulling their hind leg...And proceeded to yank on my dog's leg, to my absolute horror. I'm glad my dog didn't mind, but god forbid she did and chomped down on his hand. Common sense: don't touch other people's dog without asking. There always seems to be dogs there on the weekends, although peak times seem to be around 2-4pm. read more

Nice gating and fencing, shady and a generally good group of owners. Our dog did get scratched across the nose but all the owners were very constructive about getting the situation sorted out. As an owner of a large dog and two small ones, I wish there was a separate 'small dog' area. But the amenities are excellent here. read more

This has actually become my favorite park in Livermore! Granted it gets muddy, but on dry days (which it has been dry for quite some time), it's actually not bad... All of the dogs here are friendly, the owners are awesome, and the bucket of tennis balls is nice... My dog had one run-in with a pit bull puppy, but the owner should've been more proactive with her dog! It was ME pulling her pit bull puppy off of my 18 lb JRT mix...! This is one of the better dog parks that I have been to in Livermore. It is fairly large with plenty of room to throw a ball or a frisbee for your pup. There are also plenty of water bowls for the smaller dogs and a big tub for the big dogs to drink out of and cool off in. This seems to be a really popular park as there are always at least a few dogs playing in the park. There are always a bunch of plastic chairs available for owners to sit in while their dogs play. The fenced in dog section is right in the middle of the park and surrounded by baseball fields. This can make finding parking a bit of challenge at times during little league season on the weekends. That parking lot is also a bit of a walk from the dog section of the park, but it shouldn't be a problem for most dog owners who are used to walking their dog anyway. read more

The people and dogs can be nice, but it depends on when you come. My dog was almost attacked by another dog and was given the stink eye by the owner and her friends while we were walking by one day, while on another, we only encountered other shy dogs and quiet owners who seemed more mellow. I'd definitely get your dog vaccinated before coming. Some people bring puppies and rescues straight from the kennel and with the standing water around, it's a bit of a risk. It's a large space, so there's lots of room to play. It's a little bit of a walk to get there, but it's a nice walk unless the little league games are going. Then it's pretty noisy. Best times to come are early morning or late evening if you want to avoid the crowds. read more

I came here on a warm September day and my dog loved it. Aside from some poo leftover from some careless owners, my pup and I had the run of the park. Lots of shade. Nice big bowls (and little ones, too). It's fairly quiet when school ins't in recess and it seems during the summer, the shade is lovely. There is no small dog area. I like this dog park. It's shady, has a watering hole and a near by fountain for us humans, and while it's still light out side, there is usually someone else around to play with. This isn't the park I normally go to even though it is closer to my house. I love the one located on a hill next to In'n'Out and 580 off N Livermore exit. The view is so nice at sunset! ... But this one is alright for when I don't have time to drive across town. read more

Other parks, not nearly as nice. Dog bowls, two picnic tables, faucet to wash "what ever", plenty of lawn chairs to move around where ever you want, 2 cement benches, dog park with the most trees, lots of shade on hot summer days, two large tubs to fill up with water for those dogs that like to immerse themselves to cool down. Small dogs and big dogs too. Great majority of dogs behave themselves, some inattentive owners, mean dogs are not appreciated, if it happens, regular owners are not shy about speaking up and help enforce the dog park regulations. As far as a small places that are fenced off and dogs are allowed to bumm around go this is really good. There is shade for humans and dogs, benches to sit on if you can not possibly muster standing and water for them to drink or bath in if they fancy to fit their boody into the tub. read more

I just moved to CA from NY with my husband and two boxers. Our yard is not even close to what we had in NY, so I immediately investigated the local dog parks. Max Baer is the best that I can find. It's spacious, quiet, has grass and shade where most are small, have zero shade and are completely barren. Even if the park is full, I still bring my dogs to walk around the park grounds where there are some great trees to hang in the shade. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I have a hyper active Boston terrier. He is 11 months old. All the dogs and owners were very friendly. This was mine and my puppy Enzo's first time ever at a dog park. We both love it here. I went to this park today in between rain showers. I like how this is a regular sports park so there are bathrooms around. I didn't have to worry about it being shady in the sun since there was none, but there are lots of large trees. There is some seating for people, not much but enough. It is about 3/4 an acre, so you can throw a tennis ball on a Chuckit just fine. There is a poop bag stand and water. Today there was a lot of standing water on one side of the park, which was great for my lab and 2 other mutts to play speed boat racing. They were sooo muddy, but sooo tired, and the tired part is what I want, I don't care about the mud. I'd recommend this place to local residents. It's a nice park. read more

Dog park! Ah don't say that to the dogs they know what that means. It's a good place to socialIze the dogs. Sometimes adults here socialize too much and need to watch dogs, this happens at all dog parks. Dogs should like dogs if they bring their dog here, sometimes people don't quite get it (but that's everywhere). In the winter it gets pretty muddy here. They have water for the dogs. There is seating for humans, watch your leg...I have seen a few socializing folks get a squirt by a dog! At certain hours, usually the day, there is a group that goes here and seems to think they own the place..I was here once and they said it was there time to be there and to leave?? What?? I guess elderly people are set in their ways but why be rude..I have a friendly dog, in fact I said that, they said there's were not, they function as a pack, hmmm. I had a great experience at this park. I brought my 6 month old doxi mix to this park after work the other day and he had a blast! There was a couple families there and some of them were the perfect match for my pup. It's a large area with lots of water buckets and tennis balls floating around. We will definitely frequent this place (with or without other doggies to play with.) read more
