This review is particularly for Russ Werlebird in the parts dept. I called looking for gaskets/waterproof grommets for a wiring harness. While there is no official BMW Part number and one can only buy the gaskets as part of the plug ($60) or an entire harness ($600+), Russ found some used ones on a discarded harness and sent them to me at no charge. Above and beyond. My local dealer had no answers when I asked then about used parts or any other alternatives. My alternative would have been using black rubber o rings, fit as best I could to prevent water ingress. Russ's service was at the top level of what I experience these days. *The Gift that Keeps Giving* ...and who said Customer Service was dead!? I did! ...but that was until I met Austin of Max BMW in New Milford, CT! I own an early '80's BMW Airhead (R100RS) and I have lots of friends (who despite, living with me in Southern, CA) recently suggested I call on MaxBMW for my specialized AirHead needs. They told me their service was great, pricing reasonable, and their online MicroFiche (bike parts, diagram/drawing reference) was great. They were right! But that's not all I found which impressed me. This is where Austin comes into the fold... As a former Retail Store Owner, and having been in the high-end retail game for 20+ years, I know impeccable service when I encounter it. Austin (Parts Department) 'is the man with the plan'. While I've not met Austin in person, and I've only known him for several weeks... I feel like I've known Austin for months. Years possibly!? We've had approximately 6-9 interactions (all phone-based) all of which were incredible, and each encounter more comfortable than the prior. Austin is the consummate professional: patient, knowledgeable, friendly, supportive, fun, passionate, and resourceful. Because of my repeat positive experiences purchasing small, incidental parts, I ended up spending much more time and $ than anticipated. Clicking around their well-organized site, I got a little click-happy! Heck, I went as far as to have Austin order an OEM Center Stand from BMW Germany for me. I'll be stoked to get this into my hands in a few weeks... Oh, and did I mention a Red Label Next Day Air package of parts (from CT to CA) that arrived within 24 hours of my phone call!? My overall experience at this location was great. The staff was extremely helpful in getting me the best deal they could give for a BMW GS. Although they did not have what I was looking for, they were going to do everything they could to try and get me what I wanted. Their contactless motorcycle sales was amazing and they are able to ship all the paperwork to you for signature if you decide to pull the trigger on one of their many motorcycles in inventory. Their service and parts department is also incredibly helpful and friendly. I had to order some parts from them after my initial visit and the parts were delivered to my home in a reasonable time (about one week). The items were not in stock so it took longer than expected during due to the holidays. They added a bag of m&m's to my order free of charge which my wife loved. From the first bike I bought to the one I am on now (I have purchased 3 from them) I can't say enough good things about their professionalism and quality service. Many times you will see Max himself working on bikes which he certainly can afford not to which shows how passionate he is about bikes and caring for his customers. He's the largest most successful BMW bike dealer in the world but he's so modest you will never hear him say or advertise that. I will never own any other brand because of him. I have been a long time Max BMW customer and have purchased six bikes from them over the past twenty one years. My original dealership was in Troy, and for years I drove a hundred plus miles to get my bike serviced due to both loyalty and the level of service. Recently, I approached the date of my valve adjustment service. New Milford is much closer to my home, and I decide to try this dealership due to the logistics in extended service far away. Since that initial service, I have also had an electrical issue resolved under warranty, a new set of tires mounted, and my tire and rim checked for a puncture or bend. The service has been excellent. Service is set up quickly and efficiently. The people are friendly and keep you informed of any issue they discover along with their progress in servicing the bike. They provide you with detail of the service work done, along with things to watch for or may need to be addressed in the future. The level of work done has been excellent. I've always purchased and serviced through them for close to 10 years all it got me was continued visits back and fourth to service and Broke. They've broken my faring forgotten to perform the required service causing me to bring it back multiple times and it still not right... At first, I thought it would be a great Dealer choice, even though it was a 38 miles long trip to the dealership. I serviced a 2017 motorcycle purchased in a different dealership (under warranty), the treatment was great, I was impressed, then I purchased two motorcycles from MAX BMW, a 2018 and a 2019 BMW, which costed me about 55k for both, so I thought I had created a good relationship with Dealership. Max BMW was great until I purchased the two motorcycles, after that was on disagreement after another with services, at this point, sales just stepped out of the way and no longer assisted, so I was now dealing with service personnel which for whatever reason, they start acting unfair and untrustworthy. They started charging for minor work a lot of money (labor time), then charging for warranty work, which makes no sense, and worse, not to be put as warranty, even state no work is required, after testing, all seems fine and I had to pay for labor again, even though the problem continues, and if the issue I am having is not a real issue, then WHY CAN THEY JUST TELL YOU...No worries this is normal, instead of saying THERE IS NO ISSUE...are they trying to save an hour work? is it worth it? It really makes no sense to lose customers that way, I wonder why can dealerships be honest, keep customers and make them happy? It is very unfortunate, but here I go again find another BMW dealer for the future, or just DROP the brand and go for something else... Hope that helps someone out there. Cheers LCL read more

I recently purchased a new BMW R nineT at MAX BMW in Brookfield, CT and had an outstanding experience. Although I live in Manhattan and I'm about 10 minutes away from the NYC BMW store I drove all the way to CT after a poor NYC store experience. A co-worker suggested I give MAX a try as he felt things might go better there. He was indeed correct and it was a refreshing difference in terms of the whole experience. The store itself is large, clean and well stocked with bikes. In fact, I'd imagine they can probably get a hold of just about any model you're seeking. They also had a few vintage/antique bikes which were nice to see. The parking lot is also nice and large with plenty of bikes outside on display. I was lucky enough to get the sales manager Zac Wiley who patiently answered questions, toured me around the store and offered constructive feedback and info. No pressure, no chasing, no ham-handed sales tactics. This was my first BMW and I had a lot of questions and he answered them all. When it came time to buy and negotiate a price Zac was more than fair and worked hard to put together a surprisingly great price for me. I get the sense they want people to feel satisfied and happy rather than exhausted after a negotiation. I opted to finance the bike through BMW and that was also quick, smooth and seamless. Their friendly finance person (I think it was Elizabeth) had a great sense of humor and made signing lots of paperwork quick and easy. I wish more dealers could be like this. The only downside to the whole experience was after the purchase when I was seeking some accessories for my new bike and was handed off to Frances at the parts counter. Yikes, what a grumpy individual. I'm high as a kite having just purchased a new motorcycle and standing there with my smiling girlfriend and this guy won't make eye contact, exchange pleasantries, and generally comes off as irritated he has to speak with me. This is after he was just told by the sales manager I bought a bike. I was going to purchase bags, accessories, etc, but his attitude drove me off and I decided not to buy anything at all. Oh well, everyone else in the dealer was great, so maybe he was having a bad day. Overall, it was a great experience purchasing there and I'd definitely recommend them. I bought my 2016 BMW S1000RR from this dealership and it was the worst mistake I made. Not only did the bike have a Timing Chain issue 3 yrs later, they also tried to make me pay for it while the bike was under warranty. I had to call BMW Corporate to make this dealer realize that in fact it was covered. I got the bike back in May of 2019 and it still has a slight tick, missing fairing bolts and they didn't even go over the bike and realize that I had 2 bulbs out. To add insult to injury today (8/16/19) I get to work and coolant is leaking from the radiator. I work for a service department so I had the tech's take off the fairings and the amature's working at Max BMW did not bolt down the radiator so all this time it was bouncing around causing the plastic expansion tank to crack. I agree with some of the other reviewers here. First; some of these reviews are 100% fake. I'd be an idiot not to expect a mega corporation like bmw not to attempt to control their narrative with false ratings and dissemination, and so would anyone else. Second; my personal experience boiled down to being treated like I was inconveniencing them by bringing my bike to the middle of who the hell cares Connecticut. Over a month to get an estimate. When received was comically expensive; over $1500 more than the entire bike is worth. I'd specifically asked only for a few minor items to keep me confident on overnight trips farther from home. The egregious issue was; one of the only things I asked specifically for when bringing it in and responding to the hilarious estimate was that the wiring for my headlight be addressed. First rainy day and the headlight was fried again and I discovered they'd not even fixed the crappy patch job I'd done. Thanks for listening guys. Third; another two months to swap an alternator/'charging system' and a steering bearing, which I'd approved. I've done this on my other bike in a weekend along with main and head seals. I'm not even close to being a professional mechanic so it really makes me wonder what the hell is going on here. These guys did ok work that I don't think was a ripoff. The issue is their communication is complete shit and they clearly give zero fucks if you're not buying a new bike from them. Conclusion; might be pretty specific to me but unless you want to wave goodbye to your bike for 3 goddamn months look elsewhere. Pretty sure I could've taken a fairly extensive mechanics course in the time they took. Should go without saying I'm not recommending them to anyone or planning on returning. This is a BMW Dealership - MAX BMW If you are a fan of European motorcycles, the local dealer in Hartford ditched their European lines and fell back to the American made crowd favorite. Brookfield is not close, but they do have a Beautiful showroom and nice techs. This is a BMW Motorcycle Dealer, the people here are knowledgeable and they do have a great selection. When I visited, there were an number of people there who had driven in for service and who were hanging around at some outdoor seating using the free wi-fi. Nice place. read more

I was in an accident and had my bike brought there. The only thing it needed was new handlebars. They did not try and rip me off and did good work. I thought there prices on labor were a bit high - 150 bucks for a brake flush - I'll do it myself next time. The reason for the two stars is that there communication is awful. I rarely heard from them. I left them alone for weeks at a time and still didn't hear. When I did call them I'd often be put on hold and then disconnected. It would be fine if they asked to call back, but it seemed they would just rather ignore you. They also request that you text them which I did. Unfortunately they only responded half the time. They had my bike for six weeks to do a fluid change and handlebar replacement. Even in the busy season that's a ton of time. Go somewhere else if you value customer service. read more

All motorcycle dealers should model themselves on MaxBMW from service , to sales, to parts. Service: I brought my bike in for something that was wrong and while it did take slightly longer than anticipated to rectify, when I picked up the bike, three scratches on the take were buffed out and gone! (No other dealer would have done that!) Parts: Being a parts person at a BMW dealer is not easy. between the models and years and changes between them and what fits what I have never met parts people who truly knew what they were doing except at Max. They know what fits your bike and get it in quicly. Sales: At a BMW Motorcycle dealership in sales you want trust and openness and fair price. You get that and more with their sales department. The one downside is that it's very difficult to be in one of their dealerships for 15 minutes or less because you always seem to get caught up looking at a jacket, a helmet, some chaps, some new bikes you lust over and even the coffee is not bad at all! If you are within a 2-3 drive of any Max Dealer you will be thankful you chose Max over any other dealer..especially anything near the city of Manhattan. read more

I wanted to have the factory alarm retrofitted to my '14 GSA, but it seemed nobody knew if it was even possible. I tried contacting Manhattan BMW, but they don't answer calls, or return messages. I called MAX BMW, and spoke to their parts guy, who also wasn't sure if it could be done. He told me he'd email Motorrad group to find out, and get back to me. In the mean time, I contacted my original dealer back in California about the issue. They said the same thing; said they'd get back to me. By the end of the day, I called MAX's service manager and talked to her about the issue. She said they could install it, gave me a quote, and then asked if I even had the alarm. I told her no, as I was still waiting for a call back from their parts guy, to which she told me "he's been doing this since he was 18, if it's possible, he's the one that would know - he'll get back to you". Well, he never did. San Diego BMW got back to me. They forwarded the email from BMW Motorrad group stating that it's entirely possible to retrofit the factory alarm to K5x bikes. So I ordered the alarm from them, had them ship it to me here in NYC, and then had Gold Coast BMW install it. It's nice to see that other customers had good experiences with MAX, but seeming how they never even had the consideration, or professionalism to call me back, I'm not impressed in the least. MAX and Manhattan can learn a ton from a dealership like San Diego BMW - a truly world class dealership. I wish they could be replicated here in the north east. UPDATE: I believe in second chances, so I went back to Max several months later. I actually visited their store and met the service manager; she's friendly, approachable and professional. Maybe she had a bad day back when I called her, maybe I came off the wrong way. Either way, this was a much better experience. I went back a couple months after this to have new tires installed. They actually fit me in with no appointment (on a Saturday, no less) and even warrantied the battery for me. I have upped my star rating considerably after these positive visits. read more

I've been to Max a handful of times, all great experiences and its fun to look. They are very low pressure and the eye candy is like no other dealership! I went originally when they opened a number of years back, they offered me a test ride on motorcycle I was interested in purchasing, said no because I knew I would have to buy it. I finally bit the bullet and purchased a Bmw S1000rr from them 2 months ago from Zac in the sales department. I had been emailing him for a couple weeks on pricing since I was sold on the motorcycle already. He offered me a great price and it was enough to go take a look at a new S1000rr. I was sold the second I saw the bike and left him a deposit. He was very helpful and up front. Purchased the bike as a demo which allowed me more warranty (39 months) and said it had to have about 1000 miles on it driven by their technician for 800. The owner Max is there promoting and running the store, he came over for 2 of my visits and shook my hand and said thank you for coming in. I would recommend them at any of the 3 stores, although I haven't been to the NY or New Hampshire location; i'm sure they are very similar and respectful. I was in the process of buying my first real bike (I rode 40 years ago). Dave H walked me through every bike they made, asked about the type of riding I was going to do, etc. Spent about an hour with me.. Narrowed it down to the F700GS Then I went to two other dealers, thinking I would get the same treatment. Wow, was I wrong!!! I am not sure how they even stay in business. I guess if you want to buy a specific brand you have no choice. I returned to MAX and did the deal. Yes, a new BMW was a bit more than I needed to spend, but I am happy with the bike! Part of the deal was getting it delivered, which was no cost. They did all the insurance and other paperwork. I am hoping the service is just as good as well. Received the initial email that they took my order and they charged my paypal. 9 days later hadn't gotten any word on the status of my order. Requested update via the email. No response. Had to call direct and was told they were wating for parts from BMW and they just came yesterday and order may go out today. Honestly it came across as they forgot about it until i called. Called MAX BMW to book an appointment and was able to get my K1600GTL serviced that same day. Arrived around 12:30PM and was out by 4:00PM. Not too bad considering I called last minute and the service is typically billed for 2 1/2 hours. Also had a factory software update that took some of that time. My bike was pick up my Max which I thought was going to be some routine maintenance and a cold start issue. After 3 weeks I don't hear from them. I give them a call and they just started working on the bike. So they sell me on a Annual airhead maintenance for around $689 . I get a call from them telling me that I don't have the original carburetors on the bike somebody changed them. I was surprised because the bike only had 6500 original miles when I purchase it used. They say they have to change the jetting and it should be fine. I get another call bike still not running right, We found a crack coil and it needs to be replaced we think this will solve the problem. Get another call still not running right. We have to check the timing and do a valve check more money problem still not solved. So I get another call we think there might be a bent valve the head needs to be pulled about 4 1/2 hrs in labor and will take it from there and see what else you need. At this point I tell them to put the bike back together and I had to rent a trailer and go pick my bike up. We're going on 6 weeks now. So I get a bill for over $2000. From there I take the bike to a private own shop in Brooklyn New York. He verifies that Max was incorrect about the carburetors not being correct on the bike he had to replace the jetting that they just put in. It turns out the 40 year old spark plugs wires were bad that I guess Max never check . Let me tell you the bike has never ran so good. Starts right up with no choke. I just don't understand how Max took it so far and never replaced the spark plugs wires that were 40 years old . Another thing I didn't like I kept getting bounce around between two different service writers . read more

I bought a 2007 F800ST from Brookfield Max BMW. Dave Hartley was great to work with and he is a real gentleman. It was delivered to South Windsor and then up to my house free of charge. There was a slight problem with the battery charging and they picked it up and fixed it free of charge even though it was sold "as is".
