First appointment had to be rescheduled due to sickness of the tech. Rescheduling availability was quick so it was ok. Day of appointment Rigo arrived on time (actually early) and got started right away. Answered a few of our questions with professionalism and we could tell he has done this kind of install many times. Work was done quickly and clean. Huge fan of Max Electric! From the initial quoting, to scheduling, to the job itself, it was all a breeze to get done. Sent out a request Sunday, and could've had someone come over the next day but opted for later in the week. The job was just to install an outlet in the restroom for my new bidet washlet. Nothing fancy. Was quoted a fair quote, but it somehow came up a little over, so was a little disappointed (hence, docked one *). But other than that, Rigo the electrician was amazing. Came over earlier than scheduled, did his thing, and was out in an hour. Even cleaned up and everything -- amazing customer service! I contacted Max Electric because I needed some help finishing up an overhead service relocation where most of the work on the ground level had already been done and the photos of their conduit work looked much better than that of most residential contractors in California. They responded with an absolutely outrageous lump sum price devoid of meaningful information so I asked for clarification as to what work they were proposing to do for that frankly shocking amount of money. I just got a snarky response telling me that the grounding system was "wrong" and that they'd have to rip it out and redo it all. I asked what specific code violations they were observing and what remediations they were proposing to make in what I hope was an equally snarky tone and they predictably refused to give me a direct answer. I hired a master electrician who's done commercial/industrial work for 24 years to build the mast and weatherhead I was missing for literally 6X less than what Max Electric quoted for the same job. It was 4 hours of work and that included a lunchtime run to the supply house to pick up a rigid elbow they forgot to grab. They made absolutely no changes to this "wrong" grounding system because there were no changes needed according to 2023 NEC and it all passed AHJ inspection without a single issue. We all make mistakes, but my interaction with Max Electric felt more like a con job than a mistake to me. Similar to the "Oh no, your heat exchanger's cracked! Better buy a whole new furnace right now before your entire family dies in their sleep and oh yeah we also have to move it up to the attic and run all new ducts at the same time because that's the code!" scam the HVAC kids like to pull. It was difficult to pin other electricians down, and one wanted a video first meeting, which simply wasn't necessary -- and seemed a little creepy, honestly, but I don't like video calls. We recently hired Max Electric for electrical upgrades in our home and were thoroughly impressed. Maksim, who I believe is the owner, came to our home for a free estimate, making the planning process much smoother as we mapped out each project. He followed up the visit with a clear, detailed quote for the work. The work was performed by two other team members: Raushan and another technician whose name I don't remember. Both were efficient, clean, and showed great respect for our home. They tarped each area to minimize dust and debris, communicated clearly about what they were doing, and left hardly any trace behind. We had two power outlets installed in the garage, added recessed lighting throughout our home (most in brand new spots, others were conversions from what were previously can lights), and replaced our ceiling fans with modern ones. Everything was completed within the estimated time and cost--no surprises. What really stood out to us was the pride they took in their work, which is evident in how incredible everything looked when finished. I interviewed five companies for my knob and tube replacement project and Max Electric was (by far) the most impressive. The very detailed quote for all the work set them apart from everyone else and they also happened to be the most competitive. The highly competent and careful work Konstantin, Felix, and Andrii provided was first class. In my 1925 building, the wiring was not always straight forward and they did a stellar job figuring out its mysteries, and also took special care when it came to preserving things like coved plaster ceilings and other architectural details that would have been very expensive to repair. Terrible experience trying to get an estimate from Max Electric and they can't seem to get their story straight. After scheduling a virtual consultation on their website for 10:30 am on a Thu waited for someone to reach out and no one did. When I contacted them on WhatsApp (per their website) they said they tried to reach me which doesn't make sense because there was no missed call or email response from them. And the person who manages the WhatsApp didn't respond to my call. Also when I called their direct line to speak to someone the person who answered the phone seemed clueless and basically asked a bunch of random questions and finally admitted to not having my appointment in the system and promised to call back. But no response yet. This is a very disappointing initial experience to deal with customers; if you are going to offer virtual consultations please know how to actually respond to them and be mindful that people organize their work schedules to be at home to go through these appointments. read more

Not only was I interrupted during an earlier appt by a text from the electrician to see if he could "come now," I get home to find the electrician waiting in his van in front of my house at 2:30pm. I hired Max Electric to install an outlet outdoors for my sprinkler system and flood lights to light up my yard at night. They initially charged $650 to install the flood lights and $800 to install the outlet. After the first flood light was installed, the yard was still pretty dimly lit. I had reached out, explained the issue, even provided pictures. They said it had to do with the brand of light, and the could replace it for another $250. I had them come out to change the brand of flood light, and, even after explaining the issue, our yard was still very dimly lit with the new light. The electrician installed the light at night, so he could see it was dimly lit. He also left before giving me a chance to check the lights. I reached out again after this, and Max Electric recommended installing a second light on the fence, and gave an estimate of $2000. I asked for a detailed or itemized list about the cost this was their response: "To install a light in a remote part of the backyard, the technician will need to run a long line of electrical wiring. He will most likely use one of the lights installed on your house, run a wire from it, then along the fence up to the place of future installation." They did not give any details about the cost of materials or how long the job would take. I did not end up paying the $2000, and found another electrician on Taskrabbit. The electrician on Taskrabbit did the job for $500. He was able to give me a list with the cost of the items (~$150) and complete the job in 3.5 hours. I normally don't make an effort to write reviews on Yelp, but felt like it could be useful to share about my experience, particularly given how much higher their cost was than another local electrician and that their communication throughout this time was not great. read more

Max and his guys did a great job installing recessed lighting, light fixtures, and bathroom fan. They were patient with me when I had some disagreements with my wife about where to place the recessed lights, and worked with us to make sure the light placement was where we wanted it. Every step of the way they made sure to ask for my input before moving on to the next step when necessary to make sure that the results were in line with what I was expecting. I definitely appreciated that. Also, they took extra time to make sure the ductwork was set up correctly for the bathroom fan. There were initially some complications with connecting our existing bathroom fan's duct to the duct for the new fan where air was pushing from one bathroom fan into the other, but they made sure to spend the extra time to make sure our duct was functioning properly and routed independently to the outside vent to prevent any of these issues. I would definitely recommend hiring these guys for your electrical needs! read more
