I explained this to the friendly clerk, who then brought out the owner to speak with me. Unfortunately, he turned out to be the rudest, most disrespectful and dismissive person I've ever encountered at a store. He launched into an angry loud diatribe against me, apparently thinking i was trying to sell him comics, which was never my intent. Without ever trying to find out why I'd come in, he vented angrily, then turned his back on me and walked away. I've never felt more disrespected and misunderstood in any local business. Such a person really should find a different line of work.

It sells for a good price on ebay @ a price of normally 210. With a CGC. Mine doesn't have it but definitely a 9.5. This man said I can't even sell that for a dollar glanced at it didn't touch it pull it out of the cover. I kind of chuckled and said "Really! Thats crazy cause its selling for 210 online"! He screamed "Great! Then go sell it online"! Cause he through his arm as he was speaking! Like wow! I will never shop here i have in the past but I never will again! An i highly recommend not going here! I called up Collectors Ink who although couldn't help in a sale were NICE an jovial! Explained they are a family ran and are having health issues come back in a month! Like thank you for being a decent human being, I believe her name was Beverly!

AVOID THIS PLACE I…read moreleft this video game store feeling disappointed with the way they handle pricing. The selection itself was decent, but it quickly became obvious that most of the games on display were higher-value titles. If you're hoping to browse affordable games or find a hidden bargain, you probably won't have much luck here. What really bothered me was the complete lack of price tags. None of the games I looked at had prices, so every time I wanted to know the cost, I had to ask an employee. Instead of having a set price, they would pull out their phone, search eBay, and base the price on whatever listings or recent sales they found at that moment. It made the entire shopping experience feel awkward and inconsistent. Without clearly marked prices, it's impossible to compare games or decide what fits your budget while browsing. It also gives the impression that prices can change depending on who is asking or what the current online market happens to be. A retail store should have transparent, clearly displayed prices rather than making customers wait while staff search online marketplaces. I understand that retro and collectible games fluctuate in value, but that's part of running a game store. Prices should be researched ahead of time and labeled on the shelves, not determined only after a customer expresses interest. Overall, the lack of pricing transparency and the reliance on eBay for on-the-spot pricing made the experience frustrating. I probably won't return unless they adopt a more consistent and customer-friendly pricing system.

Not sure what issue Bryan in the (currently) only other review had as I've never had major issues with Gamer's Paradise. I've bought both a PS2 and an Xbox 360 from them with nearly half of each in store credit and I've never, ever had issues with them honoring a purchase or deal. They've always been courteous and professional, at least to me, and a lot of their prices are sometimes even more fair than other places. My only major complaint is that quality control of stuff they sell is a bit variable. Part of it is just what comes with selling retro games, but a few times I've bought games or hardware that obviously were not cleaned (or in the former case, resurfaced if necessary), but this has never been so severe that it's been a total dealbreaker with them. Overall, would recommend. Update: Janice is fibbing a little; they're selling Super Mario Bros. 3 at $24.99 and have been for a while, which is pretty damn close to going market price.

SCAMMERS - Don't Waste Your Time…read more If you value your time, avoid Gamer's Paradise. The posted business hours don't seem to mean anything. I made the hour-long drive to visit the store, only to find it closed in the middle of the day when it was supposed to be open. After finally getting in touch with the owner on Facebook, he claimed he had to leave because of a "delivery mix-up" and said he'd be back soon. It wasn't the first time I'd heard an excuse either. After multiple trips ending the same way, it became obvious that keeping regular hours isn't a priority. A business shouldn't expect customers to guess whether it'll actually be open. The store itself also feels disorganized. Shelves are cluttered, inventory isn't labeled well, and a lot of items seem to be sitting around without any clear intention of being sold. Before making the trip, I was told over the phone that I'd receive $24 in store credit for a complete, working Nintendo console with the controller and cables. I brought in three complete systems along with games, controllers, and extra cables. The owner gave me values for each item one by one, but after everything was added together, I realized later that I had been shorted by about $20. Since I wasn't given a receipt or any written breakdown of the transaction, I had no way to verify it until I got home. Another thing that didn't sit right with me was that none of the consoles or games were tested before being accepted. Everything was simply taken behind the counter, which didn't seem very professional. Instead of honoring the $24 he'd quoted me over the phone, he only offered $15 for each Nintendo console. I noticed the difference at the time but didn't argue, which I regret. The whole reason I accepted store credit was because I wanted to buy the Xbox that had been sitting in the display case for months. As soon as I was ready to purchase it, I was told they couldn't sell it because they couldn't find the controller or power cable. If that's the case, it shouldn't have been sitting in the display case with a price tag on it. When I returned the next day hoping to exchange my credit for something else, there wasn't anything I wanted. I asked if I could simply get my trade-in items back instead. I was told they had already been mixed in with other inventory and couldn't be returned. They ended up giving me cash instead, but once again I came up about $20 short. By the end of it all, I traded in what I believe was close to $200 worth of games and consoles and only received $71. Between the inconsistent hours, misleading trade values, lack of receipts, and poor customer service, I won't be returning. I recommend taking your business somewhere else.

Everyplace I walked, there was a blend of past and present. PlayStation 4 & 5 games, alongside rows of nostalgia that ranged in clothes, toys, accessories, movies, you name it. This store embodies 90s pop culture, and not the hip hop side, but more the alternative (which is what I felt more represented me). I found a dvd I've been looking for months, in just a matter of minutes. The movies are all alphabetized, yo! It's like a thrift store, but so much more. If you were a child of the 80s that lived through the 90s, you will probably appreciate this place . My dvd was only $1.99!

I really liked that the Folsom location had a way bigger selection of Funko Pops than the Arden location. There is so much stuff to look through in general at this location, since it's roomier. I specifically scoured the shelves for some Funko Pops to take home, and came across the cutest Jurassic World one (shown below) that I just needed to buy. I also discovered a beautiful Elvis Funko, but that one I decided to hold off on for now. My husband bought a Mewtwo Funko as well (not shown). Most of the Funkos were in really good condition. There was a Stranger Things Funko that I really wanted but alas the previous owner had damaged the box. From a collector's standpoint, the prices are fair. Of course this location had other collectibles and items for sale, such as clothes, records, and whatnot. I've got plenty of records at home and only want to purchase very specific records these days, so I didn't really bother to look in their record aisles. The staff were friendly and chill. I will definitely return to check for more Funko Pops in the near future!
