Great selection of really nice cigars. I'm not a fan of cheap cigars so it's difficult finding a place with a nice quality selection but this place hits the spot. I would say that the only negative tho about this place is that it's pretty expensive. They upcharge quite a bit compared to online prices of same cigars. I was there last Thursday and everyone seemed to know each other. These men were foul, crass misogynist Neanderthals. The way they spoke about women made me feel like I was back in the 1950's. I can't overstate my disappointment. I used to shop here all the time, i was driving close by so i decided to go out of my way to visit this cigar store. If you are familiar with it, you know what a great humidor and selection they used to have. Then small batch cigars came in and i guess they decided to focus on the mail order business. Now the lounge is closed and they moved the retail shop across the mall to some dinky store that is a fraction of the size and selection of what maxamar used to have. I'm guessing they are under new management. The shelves are a whole lot of empty as well and the selection is abysmal. I guess they sell everything they can online so no need to stock the retail shelves anymore. The old store has been completely closed off for small batch cigars. The new store had some foldup chairs and outside patio at least. I would not go back under any circumstances. There are at least two better cigar stores in the general area better than the new Maxamar. The person manning the store is great, but there is nothing that can make up for a lack of selection or stock. read more

1st off, they have the largest humidor I have seen in the OC. Massive selection. That being said....im am new to cigars and love it! I have been hitting all the cigar spots to try to find what cigars I like. Walked in the other day and was greeted by Tom. Tom pointed me to the humidor as soon as I walked in. I told him I was new to cigars. Tom asked if I would mind if he helped me out. That was a good sign I was in the right place. Tom asked me what I liked and what I had smoked and then walked me into the humidor. Tom was very helpful and explained the world of cigars. I asked him to recommend a few cigars. Walked out with 4 cigars and Tom even threw in a free cigar for me to try. All of my questions were answered. There was no pressure to buy one cigar or the other. At checkout, Tom gave me a box of matches and invited me to stay and smoke in the lounge area. I asked if they served alcohol. Tom said they used to, but ended up getting rid of it. Too many problems. Bummer. Nothing like a glass of hard liquor with a stick. The lounge itself had a few leather chairs and in the corner was remnants of what was once a bar area. I did not stay, but there were about 3 customers inside with Tom. The whole experience was great and I will be back. The yelp reviews are spot on. Large humidor, wide selection, and if they don't have what you are looking for, I'd be surprised. Not a true cigar lounge with lots of TVs, food, and tables. If that if what you are looking for, go elsewhere. But, if anything, at least go and check out the humidor. Ginormous, with an impressive selection. Prices on the cigars: are very competitive. I would say only a few dollars off of on-line prices, but customer service was great without any high pressure sales. read more

I've heard some good things about this spot from cigar friends and we're a big fan of smallbatchcigar . com so we took a detour to stop by on our way to San Diego in hopes to catch Mr. small batch, Andrew, there. The humidor is pretty big and fairly packed. The cool thing is they have a few items that are exclusives to this store and something worth seeking out (like the Marble House), a good range of the standards as well as smaller boutique type stuff and a few out of production items waiting to be found. Basically, a little something for everyone well rounded stock. I couldn't really find a fault in what they carry. It's organized chaos in here which can be the only bad thing I can see people say about it, but it kinda has this homey lived in feel like you went to your uncles place to watch some sports/ chit chat/ play video games while you smoke cigars. Omar and Tommy greeted us from when we came in and Andrew was the best of hosts. I have many of B&Ms that I visit and check stock at, but I don't really hang out at any because I have my spot back home that is my grail for all places. The crew here reminds me of us in Vegas as it seems a lot of those sitting are regulars and they have a more relaxed vibe where new people are new friends than treated as a invasion into the clique. It's sad but that does happen in some places I've gone to. I would TOTALLY be a regular if I lived here. This was one of the highlights of our trip for sure and we will make the detour out to Orange anytime we're going to LA or SD just to come smoke a cigar here. I just discovered Maxamar (thanks yelp!) and it's probably one of (if not the) best cigar shops/lounges I've ever been to. Selection: Not only is Maxamar's walk in humidor HUGE (probably the biggest I've ever seen) but they have what I think is a very well thought out selection. Lots of depth to each brand they carry. Prices: Their prices are GREAT! Definitely cheaper than most other cigar shops in Orange County. I don't have a ton of money to spend on my cigar habit so I really do pay pretty close attention to price and I can say with confidence you won't be disappointed with their pricing. Service: The staff seems welcoming and helpful. I didn't have a whole lot of interaction with the staff but I did talk to one of the guys for a while and he was really nice and made me feel comfortable. I didn't hang out in the lounge area but it looked like a pretty good crowd I'd be comfortable hanging out with in the future. Maxamar = an easy 5 stars! read more

Just to show how great this place is I wish they had ten stars. Me and my buddies drove all the way from Bakersfield CA just to check this place out. My friend told me it was the best cigar shop around so I had to see it for myself. The humidor is the biggest I've ever seen stocked with the best sticks around. Any cigar you can think of he probably has it. The customer service is out of this world. We enjoyed a cigar in store and talked to a few of the regulars. Everyone was great and very welcoming. We ended up buying a box of cigars and lots of single sticks. Couldn't believe the price. Blows everybody away including online. Amazing location if you're into cigars like I am! Was greeted as soon as I entered, which is dimly lit being a lounge area. I was quickly overwhelmed with literally thousands of cigars, in numerous corridors and shelf set up. I've never seen a selection as extensive as this! I was in cigar paradise! A younger guy Ben, who is extremely knowledgeable was happy to assist in helping me find what I was looking for. I absolutely love Maxamar Ultimate Cigars! As an avid cigar smoker with a small humidor (150 capacity), I love Maxamar! While most places are going to the private membership philosophy, Maxamar is still open to anyone! First, their staff is very nice. If you tell them what you like, they will point you in the right direction! If you are having your first cigar, they will help you out! Maxamar probably has the second largest humidor in Orange County. I think the Tobacco Barn's is larger (it's the whole store); however, don't quote me on that. the difference is, the Tobacco Barn staff is only willing to help their private members.
