As a longtime fan of Davidoff cigars, I immediately noticed they carried what appeared to be the full Davidoff lineup, including rare and exclusive releases that are difficult to find elsewhere. I was fortunate enough to meet John, a retired tech industry professional now working part-time at Maxamar. John has been smoking cigars for nearly 50 years, beginning as a young man alongside his father. Having grown up in the Middle East, he explained that cigar smoking at an early age was far more common there than it is in the United States. His knowledge of the inventory, the Davidoff line, and the cigar industry as a whole was genuinely impressive. Conversations like that are becoming rare, and it added something authentic to the experience. John explained that Maxamar is closely tied to exclusive cigar releases and retailer-only collaborations. Over the years, they've partnered with brands such as Davidoff and Felipe Gregorio, along with exclusive products offered through their online operation, "Small Batch Cigars". Nearly everyone seemed familiar with the shop's history, the owner, and the numerous cigar events Maxamar hosts throughout the year due to both its popularity and the volume of premium cigars they move through the store. I'm glad it exists! We came around 5:00 and there was one other person on the patio and a few inside. They had the World Cup on the TV's both outside on the patio and inside. The patio had seating for up to 11 people. The ocean view was fabulous. Two patrons had their golden retrievers with them despite a sign saying "No Dogs Please"... I assume maybe that sign doesn't apply to the locals haha. The place slowly filled up the closer it got to sunset. Everyone was incredibly friendly and chatty, locals and travelers alike. We spent 3 hours there until they closed. Afterwards, my dad said he hasn't talked that much in a long time and was pleasantly surprised that everyone was NOT an a**hole! We love that.
