I'm no longer happy with the beer or Sake selection here. Too much concentration on IPA's and cheap Sake. I used to be able to get excellent European lagers here and higher end Sake, but not anymore. read more

At the risk of sounding like I have a problem, I will say that visiting liquor stores is one of my past times. There are sooooo many interesting spirits (specifically whiskies) out there and my goal is to catch em all! So whenever I'm in a new city I can't keep myself from stopping in to search for that unicorn. While I don't always find one, it's still fun to see those that are hard to find in my hometown readily available on the shelf elsewhere. Maximum is a well organized, large and easily explored store. I was able to see a few bottles I hadn't and after talking to the staff, learned they're not in the business of hiding those allocated items either. Staff wasn't tremendously knowledgeable, but I didn't need any advice and it just helped me get in and out faster because I didn't spend time talking to them! They sell all the requisite mixers and snacks, plus they have a cheese counter with some tasty stuff! Great place to shop for sure! read more

Stopped in today to get some wine for a birthday gift. We told the service rep what we were interested in, and he personally walked us over to the French Sauvignon Blancs and spent a while with us going over some suggestions. He was super helpful and made the whole experience a pleasure. He even gift wrapped the bottles. As he gift wrapped the bottles, we walked around and marveled at this gorgeous store where shopping is a real sweet experience. read more

This package store is strange I walked in there on the Fourth of July they had a bottle of Russell reserve 13 year-old bourbon on the counter I say to the guy at the counter I'll buy that bottle of Russell 13 and he tells me he doesn't know the price and then he says he thinks it might be for somebody but doesn't know for sure. So again to recap a package store that has a bottle of bourbon on the counter they don't know the price and they don't know if it's for someone but it's right there at the checkout I don't understand. read more

Store is new and conveniently located on my drive between home and few spots I frequently visit. Great selection and well payed out, but not enough staff. If the person on the register is busy there seems to be no other employees to help recommend something. I will continue visiting this location as I stick to the same stuff. read more

So today was really the downward turn of me not coming back here. I picked out two not ipa beers from the absurd amount of ipa selection... I know it's trendy. I looked at the tags the prices read 9.99 on both... I took them to the counter and one was 10 something and the other one even more. So casually I expressed my annoyance at their tags being wrong and the smarmy "kid" behind the counter replies with "have a good night". Not oh I'm sorry let me check that or thanks for letting me know, you're right we should review these things. I mean seriously there was one other customer in the store and this kid is less than pleasant...... I know you go through a lot of beer but one of the three of employees working in an empty store, I'm sure could have handled the tags being changed or reviewed once a week at least... read more

An offshoot from the flagship Maximum Beverage in Bishops Corner, this new location is a welcome addition to Farmington. With their wide choices of beer, wine and spirits, plus a sampling area and a select batch of artisanal cheeses, this new liquor store brings a touch of class and something extra to its offerings of libations. The space is clean, well lit, organized, the staff attentive and ready to give suggestions, and truly they have quite a lot of drinks to choose from, from box wine to high shelf whiskey, and the prices are about average. I just visited maximum beverage in Farmington this morning and had the most unpleasant experience with the store owner. As we were purchasing our items, the store owner was completely rude and unprofessional. I have never had such an unpleasant experience while shopping. I will never step foot in this establishment again and the owner should be embarrassed for how he treats his customers and his employees. I will be telling everyone I know to never shop here again. I am disturbed by how I was treated today and spoken to by the store owner. read more

First time I went in here I fell in LOVE. They have everything. Literally everything, and if they don't have it, they will get it for you. Everything is VERY well priced. The specials are amazing and the staff is super helpful and friendly. Plus, you can't go wrong with a liquor store that has a rewards card! The only bummer is the cheese is super overpriced IMO. That's the ONLY downfall to this amazing drinks-cave. read more

This place is stellar! I love going here when I'm visiting my brother in West Hartford. I wish they'd open a store in San Francisco! There's some good all purpose beverage stores back home that the wife and I frequent, but we'd go out of our way to go to a place if it were like this. The first time I visited, I went in for a 6-pack and ended up staying for a half hour. I got lost in the best way, checking out their cigar selection. One of the managers showed me the #1 cigar in the world. Obviously bought one. As a new Dad, I enjoy a cigar ever now and then (since my pops bought me a bunch to celebrate the arrival of my daughter). Anyway, it was cool to see the wonderful selection and to talk to someone who actually could teach me a thing or two about them. They even had a lot of other cigars ranked in the top 25. The next time I was in town visiting, we went in on a Saturday and they had a French wine tasting going on. Really fine wines, not the $10 bottles you'd pick up if you're looking for something simple. We had our share of inexpensive wine as most adults do, but this was a real treat! Now I'm spoilt, and have to spring for the good stuff more often. ;) Besides that the store is beautiful and I found myself having fun just picking up booze. When was the last time you could say that about a liquor store? Now I can! Maximum beverage to the max! read more

We went to a Burgandy wine tasting in Farmington. Excellent event. They provide cheese, crackers, and 8 tastings of French wines from the Burgandy region. A worthwhile event to attend. read more

This place easily eclipses all of its offerings by their extensive wine collection. However, they still have every bottle of liquor you might ever find yourself wanting, and a large selection of craft beers to boot. The store is clean and very inviting. read more

Big fan of this place. I go here because they are always tasting beers, ciders, red and white wines as well as sometimes scotches. Really worth coming here purely because you know if you're buying something you taste and like, you won't be disappointed by your purchase. The staff is pretty knowledgeable and friendly. Have not made a purchase here I regretted and I end up buying more than I originally went in for but that's okay. It's good to have some extra stock on hand at home for company or to give as gifts. read more

I called the location ahead of time to ensure they do mix and match cans of beer. The woman on the phone told me yes. In New York a majority of places price their cans individually so I wanted to be sure. I entered the establishment and took my time selecting individual cans of beer for stocking stuffers for friends. I got to the register and the first beer wasn't scanning. I was asked if I took it from a pack to which I said yes and I had called ahead of time and asked if they did that. The woman at the register quipped back nastily and said " yeah from the cooler of single cans" --surely she didn't mean the 3 rows of poorly curated beer cans, but it appeared to be that amongst a sea of unrecognizable CBD waters. I apologized for the inconvenience and let her know that's why I called. I said thank you and she responded with silence. 2 stars because the gentleman in there was at least pleasant, but 45 min of time wasted. Happy to take partial blame for the misunderstanding but I'd say be friendlier to customers. I still bought two bottles of wine. read more

After somewhat of a decline over time and after opening up this second location it pains me to say after years of loyalty and talking them up, I will no longer use them. The customer service has degraded, but the icing on the cake was them messing up an online order. Confirming the product via email, going to pick it up and it being sold out was one thing, but saying it will be back in stock only to find out again later that it out and not informing us? No big deal to them, they didn't seem to care. But over the years myself and my roommate have spend some $ there. But they don't seem to care. Well, at least we got a refund when asked, but if they can't fill an order for two bottles of wine, then they need to assess their priorities. I'm not bitter, but people need to realize they aren't the pinnacle of wine shops. We spend our money at places that make us feel appreciated and take time to service the customer. Good luck letting customers fall through the cracks, I hear it's good for business. read more

Stopped by here on my way to Highland Park Market. Wow. I have been to the West Hartford Store and loved it but this place is unbelievable. They had a wine, bourbon and cheese tasting going on on Saturday afternoon and I was even able to pick up some Sip of Sunshine they had in the cooler (I had never seen that before). I live in Bloomfield but will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

Been shopping here for a few months now and this place is awesome. The store is awesome, but the parking is by far the best thing...in and out. So freaking easy. Beer selection is top notch and the beer guy really knows his stuff. I dont drink a ton of wine but my wife has always enjoyed their recommendations. Would definitely recommend going here if you live in the area. read more
