Then the doctor took a cutting tool, shoved the blade into the bed of her toe and right into the quick, grabbed the piece, and ripped the rest of the nail out. Laura about passed out. The doctor said she figured since my wife has diabetes she probably couldn't feel her feet anyway from neuropathy. My wife takes care of herself. She does not have neuropathy. She felt every bit of it. What a disturbing attitude to take towards patients. This doctor had horrible bedside manner. There were toenail cuttings all over the floor. The room was filthy.

Despite multiple attempts, I have been unable to reach the billing department. When I called the office for assistance, they were unable to help and simply transferred me back to billing, where no one answers the phone. To make matters worse, the note on the bill threatened collections. I attempted to pay the balance online, but the Phreesia payment system froze and would not complete the transaction. At this point, I have tried every available option: The billing department does not answer calls. The office staff cannot answer billing questions. Calls are routed back to billing with no resolution. The online payment system is not functioning. The physicians may provide good care, but the administrative and billing experience has been unacceptable. If patients cannot get answers to billing questions or make payments through the available channels, there are serious organizational issues that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, this experience has earned a well-deserved one-star review..

One of my biggest concerns was wearing sandals in the future as I was fearful that my nails would end up botched post procedure. Therefore, I wanted to go to a female doctor who I hoped would better understand the value of aesthetics; which is why I initially selected Dr. Kirkland. Not only did Dr. Kirkland understand and value, aesthetics, but she and her staff surpassed all I could have hoped for with this experience. Dr. Kirkland and her staff (Mrs. Shelby and Dolly) were extremely empathetic, kind, nurturing, professional, gracious, patient, charismatic, and enjoyable to be around. Despite my nerves, they put me at ease by reassuring me, telling me stories, making me laugh, and talking me through every step that they were taking. The office played calming music and everything was very clean and well-laid out. The procedure was seamless and pleasant (outside of a quick spike of pain for the injection). Post procedure, I am very happy with the shape and amount of my remaining nail and I think the cuts were perfectly executed. I was refused service even with my FEDERAL BCBS because I'm in a grace period following my 26th birthday. Not to mention, they had the letter stating that my coverage was still active for 31 days after my birthday.... I guess they have a receptionist who isn't up to date in the changes caused by the Affordable Care Act. (My MPH in Health Policy and Management and I are very knowledgeable) They refused to speak with the representative, which would have proved my coverage was still active. Not to mention, as a federal employee, I have my own coverage pending so that there is no break in entitlement. Of course I filed a complaint with FEDERAL BCBS.

I was there because I was really suffering with a problem. I will take my entire family elsewhere and look for a more patient friendly practice.
