I was looking for a shop to restore a "1948 OLDS Super" B flat Trumpet that I found at an estate…read moresale. To say the least, this horn needed some love after sitting in someone's garage for decades. As luck would have it, this horn was identical to my very first Trumpet that my Aunt in Chicago sent to me in 1964. With that horn, I played a solo at my High School Graduation. Eight years later, the horn was mysteriously stolen. I google searched for a musical instrument repair shop. The second call I made was to The Horn Shop in Fresno, CA. Harry Siverly, the man that answered the phone is also the owner. He shared his years in the business, both as a musician as well as his experience restoring (over hauling) basically all instruments. I had a good feeling about Harry and arranged an appointment. On meeting Harry, I shared how I met my high school Band Director Gene Sherry, who literally taught me how to hold the horn, and privately tutored me. It turns out that Harry knew Gene Sherry and his daughter Elaine, who was also in Band at the time. In that first interaction I told Harry how the estate sale horn was identical to my first trumpet. Harry did the research and authenticated 1948 as year of manufacture. Harry asked for my input, and regularly updated me on progress throughout the restoration. Harry's excellent understanding of the horn, great communication skills, focus and passion exceeded expectation. The pictures below speak volumes. If you are looking for an unprecedented expert in all aspects of your musical instrument whether you are looking for an instrument, service and maintenance, Harry and his team should be your first stop. Harry, like the great Tom Brady, is "the one to get it done". Choose Harry, and like me, you'll be glad you did. Barry Bagus
