I used to go here all the time and it definitely is the most popular place in town, but I'm just not sure why anymore. It is always super busy and they do an ok job, but the price keeps creeping up and it just isn't amazing for how many people rave about it. They have a ton of people working there and the quality of your mani/pedi definitely depends on who does your work. Also, as several people said, several staff members might as well be asleep when they are doing your leg massages when you get a pedi. They put on a timer so that you are always getting the same amount of massage, but who cares if the person doing the massage is just staring off into space lightly rubbing your leg. I almost told them to stop and just move on with the pedi last time I was there. I wish I could find a better option in Sonoma, but have had a hard time, so Maxwell Nails gets my business as a default. read more

I'm new to the area and am in search of a good salon for pedicures. This salon was clean and the staff was friendly. However, they don't have dryers for pedicures so you have to sit for a fairly long time and the pedicurist cut my nails so short they now hurt. I'll keep looking for a better option read more

I went here because of the good reviews, and I got a pedicure which was nice. And I also got a full set of pink and whites for $45. After 3 days they started to lift and they turned bright YELLOW! I took off the top coat thinking that was the problem, and reapplied a new coat, and within a day they were bright yellow again. I was told this was because they use old or cheap products. I will never go back except for a pedicure. What a waste of money! read more

I went to Maxwell Nails because my regular salon had to close for a month. They have wonderful pedicures and manicures and are very competitive price wise. I have since been trying to go every two weeks for the last four months. However, due to their recent popularity it is becoming very difficult to even schedule an appointment. I just called on a Monday for a Friday appointment and was advised they were too busy and could I come in on a weekday. I advised her no because I work in San Francisco and Friday afternoons are best for me. Looks like I have to find another salon. They do tend to take walk-ins even if you have scheduled an appointment. and I have ended up waiting well past my appointment time. I think they are becoming too big too fast!!!! read more

This place was terrible. I made an appointment a few weeks in advance for a Saturday morning of my wedding. I made 3 appointments for myself and two bridesmaids. When we showed up 5 minutes before our appt time, it was apparent we were not getting in at the appointment time. They had taken several walkins, and continued to take walkins before they started on us 30 minutes late. Now as you know 30 minutes on your wedding day is precious. They were overbooked and refused to turn walk ins away for those of us that made appointments. The manicure was just okay. She should have told me that they could not take us at 11am and I would have found another salon. read more

wonderful salon. Friendly staff, great owner. Even though it's usually crowded, they manage to take care of everyone with virtually no wait time. I had a manicure, then returned in two days for a pedicure. My nails look great and I feel wonderful. Great prices, too! No wonder they're the busiest salon in town. read more

really busy salon with a walk in policy that is its worse enemy. I was in the middle of a manicure when my manicurist suddenly took off and didnt return for over 15 minutes.the owner finally noticed I was upset and said she was pulled away to do an eyebrow wax! I wouldnt have minded since I was not in a hurry but they never said a word to me until I started getting upset and asked what was going on. A lot of the pleassure of going for a manicure is to relax and be taken care of. In my case it was not that. Though the owner finally explained what was going on, it was too little too late. I understand how difficult it is to turn business away but this sort of juggling only ends up pissing people off and ruining an otherwise pleasant place. I resented that the owner barely talked to us when we came in and only when she realized we had found her through the internet reviews did she become chatty. also-she sat a woman next to me who was geting acrylic and while her manicuruist had a mask she never told me what was happening and the smell is toxic. I got light headed and couldnt stop coughing. they need to do that away from other customers. so altogether a place that could be great with some care and thought about their clients,. read more

Ew! This place gives me the willies! It feels like a slave shop. The women seem seriously depressed and under the whip of a madam. Not a good pedi either, but mainly it gave me a really creepy feeling. Someone should check into whether these women are getting a living salary. read more

This place is my favorite nail salon in Sonoma County. I have been to many nail salons, but this is the best place. They are friendly, clean and do a great job, especially pedicures and manicures. They give you a long massage and let you have time to relax instead of rushing you. The last time I was there a gentleman gave me a wonderful foot massage. I have have had many foot massanges, but this gentleman gave me the best message that I've ever had. Also, he speaks English perfectly (unlike many other nail salons where the workers don't speak English very well and I can't understand them). He was very funny and made my experience at this nail salon extremely enjoyable. I will definitely come back to this place and would recommend it to all of my friends. So here is my experience. I got a gift certificate for $50.00 for a mani-pedi. I read the reviews on here and wasn't sure what to expect. I made an appointment for 10am on Saturday.....today! I went in said I had an appointment they told me to pick my color. I am bad at making decisions and was glad they didn't rush me. I have only had one other mani-pedi about 7 years ago, so it was kinda like my first time. They put me the chair and there were rose petals in the water and it was perfect temp. She asked me twice if the temp was ok. She started, and man was it nice, the massage with the hot stones was great. Then she painted my nails and took great care with all the steps of the pedi. Then on to my fingernails, same care taken and she painted everything beautifully. I did not feel rushed or like they were money hungry. The egg timer is only to time the leg massage and I understand it is a business and you can't have a person in chair for 2 hours. The staff was very nice and the only regret I had was not bringing a magazine, Once my feet hit that warm water I wasn't getting out to grab anything. So I got to have 1 hour of no children in a calm atmosphere while a very nice woman took time to pamper me. A-OK in my book! read more

sadly, no more acrylic nails, at least until Ut has her baby. pedicures and manis are still awesome, so had to find a new fill place. found a GREAT small shop in sonoma, a little less expensive as well. so it is, maxwell for pedis and new place for fills! love that it can all still be done locally! read more

HORRIBLE, AWFUL, DREADFUL... I have lived in Sonoma for over 20 years and know most of the salons. The remodel looks great. The first time I came in for a Mani-Pedi. Good Job! From then on, it went down hill. The staff are on egg timers that go off, if they have exceeded their time. You are rushed in and out like cattle. It should be a pampering, relaxing, enjoyable experience. One time, as I was getting a pedicure, two different girls did my nails while still sitting in the chair, they did not match as everyone does them different. Another time with a scheduled appointments, my daughter walked out as they made her wait 25 minutes, while the owner was taking walk-ins. My nails start to chip after a couple of days. The owner just wants the MONEY... You would think that she would take care of regular customers that are her bread and butter so to speak. I haven't been back and when asked where to go, I tell everyone NOT TO GO TO MAXWELLS... Talk about bad customer service. read more
