Mike and Titus are excellent trainers that know how to keep us motivated. They're experts at making sure you're doing all of the exercises properly and scaling them to make sure you're still getting a proper workout that matches your ability. No two workouts are ever the same, but they're all challenging and they're all worth the effort. I've toned up and lost inches in just three months. If you're looking for a great place to get a real workout in, I strongly recommend 1214 CrossFit!

The owner Steve and his wife Allison are both so personable and they just inspire myself and I'm sure many others. When doing workouts or skill work they care more about correct form and correct execution of movements than anything else. They meet you where you are and help develop you further along your journey. They push you to step out of your comfort zone, and help you achieve things you never thought your body could do! The other members here are like a family, everyone is so uplifting and positive. Would recommend this box to anyone in the area who is thinking of trying crossfit or even to experienced crossfitters. A wonderful place to be apart of.

The gym is a bit tucked away nestled between a few other businesses so if your attention to detail is not very good you may drive past it. Once there if you go through the front you will see the main office that after you pass opens up to the gym. You can enter from the back but I am sure the loading dock doors will probably be down during the winter time. But then again you are there to toughen yourself up so maybe they might let the cool air in. Actually that might be good because you will work up a sweat. If you are a busy parent there is a daycare room with a couch, seats and a tv to keep your kids amused as you sweat it to the workout of the day (WOD). On this particular day I went there were about 20 of us in my group along with a few patrons. There was still plenty of room. To do your workouts without running into someone or getting them out their focus.

Top Tier easily accommodates a class of 20 athletes, all properly distanced six feet apart, with plenty of equipment for everyone. The Coach leads Athletes through a targeted warm up (specific to the goals of training that day), strength workout (e.g. deadlift/squat/clean/snatch/etc.), and then an intense CrossFit style workout of the day. After all Athletes finish, the Coach leads them in cleaning/sanitizing all equipment and putting it away, followed by a targeted cool down. Since COVID-19 hit, many of my friends, colleagues, and peers were worried about reentering a gym for fear of catching the virus or lack of cleanliness, but the Top Tier staff is working hard to ensure the safety of all Athletes who want to improve themselves.

Minimal breaks however go at your own pace. I attended the Box N Glow class so the lights were off and I feel like it took the pressure off of looking like a beginner or getting tired mid way through class. This event was to fundraiser and build awareness to the special Olympics Organization for Howard county. There were snacks, a mocktail and a two free raffle tickets to enter a for vouchers to a plethora of places from game night to spa days. It was an extremely well organized event with awesome staff. If I lived closer, I would join!

You're basically running on a soft-surfaced treadmill and doing lots of different exercises using your own body weight, free weights, bands, etc. You will be harnessed in so you don't go running off of the front of the machine. You get a heart rate monitor when you arrive. This way you can monitor your heart rate during the work out. Your heart rate and your name will appear on a screen in the studio, along with everyone else in the class. The instructor is really like a coach. She will tell you and others to push harder if your heart rate isn't in a certain zone, but she'll also let you know you should back off if your heart rate gets too high. PACE YOURSELF! Or you may end up light-headed and nauseated like me! Lots of explosive movements. This is definitely a high intensity interval training workout. The greatest difficulty for me is following the routine, like in any fitness class. I'm just not very coordinated. The work out is only 30-45 minutes, which is also nice. There's plenty of parking, but it's kind of awkward. The building where this is located is kind of nondescript and old, but you will find it pretty easily.

It is often times empty so it's nice if you want mirror space and to be away from the other people working out in the main room. Pricing is more than fair and there's always clean bathrooms and fully stocked wipes and cleaning spray to clean your machines. I was going to the Columbia Golds Gym previously until it shut down during COVID and this one while smaller is just as high quality. Bathrooms are always really clean, and the staff is nice. I really love working out here and I highly recommend!

I started my membership here around New Years, prior to the Covid outbreak…read more Today I made my first trip back to the gym since it's reopened and I really couldn't be more disappointed. 1. Machines weren't spaced out at all to a lot for social distancing. 2. An employee checked my temperature at the door and went over the rules with me, but then proceeded to work out himself with no one monitoring the entrance. Nobody was going around cleaning machines -- it was complete honor system. Once the employee finished his work out, he left and nobody was watching the gym at all. 3. They couldn't even be bothered to add more wipe stations so that you don't have to walk half way across the gym to get and throw out a hand wipe. No new wipe stations, no new garbage cans to dispose of them. This encourages you to walk past other gym members. 4. Since nobody was enforcing masks, people regularly had them off. The employee told me you can have it off when lifting or doing cardio, but people were forgetting to put them back on and their cramped layout and lack of wipe stations/disposal bins encouraged people to get close to one another. 5. No signs on the walls about masks, no markers on the floor. 6. While on a cardio machine, I had a guy like 4 feet away from me on an adjacent machine not wearing a mask because he was working out. 7. When I came in, they told me that they purchased hand sanitizer. They pretty much bought 3 big push bottles of hand sanitizer, but they couldn't even be bothered to space them out on opposite sides of the gym. 2 of the 3 were on the counter at the entryway and the other one was by the Cardio equipment -- again ensuring that you have to walk past people to sanitize your hands. The only things that they've done that are positive: They closed the locker rooms with the exception of being able to use the bathrooms and told guests not to use the water fountains. They had the employee check my temperature, but since he was off working out himself it was easy for people to sneak by (also since he left early). I called the mainline from the parking lot and expressed my concerns and the guy on the phone was nice enough and told me that if I didn't feel safe I could suspend my membership for 6 months, which he said that he would do for me. He told me that they were going to get signs and filters etc next week. But, truth be told, that just made me angry because they obviously weren't ready to reopen and did anyway. I can't believe this was the best they could come up with after having 3 months to think about how to safely reopen. I told them that I would monitor their Facebook page and may come back when they've made positive changes, but upon thinking about it more, it really angered me how lightly they are taking customer safety. With about $500 they could have gone from 1 out of 10 in terms of Covid safety to at least a 4-10. It's either laziness, incompetence or apathy. I intend on looking for a new gym this weekend that's taking proper safety measures.
