For about 5 years I put off going to the dentist, because my last experience was so dreadful. I recently added dental insurance to my health plan thinking it was about time to at least go in for a check up and cleaning. So I did one of those "insurance searchers" and found May Dental that was close to my home at the time. My initial plan was to just go in for a cleaning/check-up to see if I even wanted this dentist to do additional work. From almost the first moment I felt very comfortable. His soft spoken nature is comforting and he takes the time to explain each procedure in detail. I don't know how he does it, but he makes you feel like you are the only client he has that day. All questions asked are answered -- in detail, and I never feel like I'm being rushed out of the chair. The other thing I really appreciate about this office is that my wait time was NO wait! And all the other times that I have been to this office, the longest I had to wait was "maybe" 5 minutes. This shows me that the office is respectful of your time and I'm always greeted kindly by whom ever is at the front desk. I won't go into various details on my numerous visits to this office since discovering them this year, but I will share my last one. It appears the last dentist I had put 2 crowns on my last 2 back teeth and told me they did 2 root canals. Come to find out, they did one crappy root canal and just put a cap on the other tooth and never did a root canal on that tooth, which in turn, cost me to loose that tooth. The other tooth that they did a root canal on was such a shot-y job, that Dr. Taheri had to re-do the work of another dentist that should have never had to be done. It is amazing nothing real serious happened to me as I had been walking around with this throbbing pain in my jaw for a few years every time I would go for a walk thinking it was heart related. I would have not discovered this if it hadn't been for Dr. Taheri's order to detail and getting to the "root" of the problem. The bottom line: I am no longer in pain, no longer have the throbbing in my jaw that I have been dealing with off and on for the past few years. As for the other tooth that had the crappy root canal, it had so much infection that I lost that tooth, but have an option to get an implant in a few months. I am so impressed with this whole office, that I have told so many people about them, including my primary physician! I NEVER have EVER recommended a dentist in my life, because frankly, who wants to recommend pain. LOL. But if you are in pain, THIS is the dentist to see. And even if you just want to get a check up or maybe teeth whitening - this is the dentist to see. Oh, and one last thought - they are up to date with the latest technology. If you need a crown for instances, there's no waiting for two weeks to get it and have to wear a temp, NO, they actually make your new crown right there in the office! How cool is that? If you're up to it, you can even watch your crown being sculpted. Ok, maybe I went a bit over board on my enthusiasm for this dentist, but hey, I'm in my 50s and have never experienced the top professionalism I received from Dr. Taheri and his staff at May Dental. Oh, and another last thought -- I don't live in Santa Clarita anymore, but told Dr. Taheri that I would drive to Santa Clarita from where ever I lived, because the his care is well worth it. I hate leaving negative reviews but todays visit is the straw the broke the camels back. I recently got two implants. I have complained to Dr Taheri that my bite was off on several occasions and was always dismissed with "we'll take care of it next visit". One of the implanted crowns chipped. it chipped because my bite is off it is extremely high. It always hurts when I chew. I brought this up to his attention and he stated he would call the maker to see if they could replace the crown or he would fix it for me. he was going to call me when he heard back from the maker but he never did. Well, my upper tooth broke. This is the tooth right above the implants that are too high. The break occurred because my bite is off. As soon as the tooth broke I felt a bit of relief as the break somewhat corrected my bite. My bite is still off but with a piece of tooth now missing there's less force on my teeth when I chew so it doesn't hurt as much. Cut to today when I went in to have my implant corrected (the broken piece) and the tooth on top of the implants as it is also now broken. Dr. Taheri looks it over says I need a crown to fix the tooth but no mention of why its broken or no mention of the broken implant. Instead he states I need a night guard. i have told him on multiple occasions that I use it. I have one. he was going to fix my bite and then I would get a new night guard As it makes no sense to get one before dental work as it would not fit properly after your teeth change. He walks out (as I am still talking to him). And I sit and wait there for someone. His attendant subsequently walks in states that I refused a night guard and that's why I need a crown. Pretty much implies that it's my fault my bite is off and this is the only solution. what really caught me off guard was her attitude. She asks no questions just comes in with a very accusatory tone and pretty much starts berating me for wanting my tooth fixed and not a crown. Needless to say I walked out. I paid my copay (which I shouldn't have as they did nothing) and left. sadly I will not be returning. This is one several bad experiences I have had here. But I kept coming back as the office hours are convenient and he offers Saturday appointments Which not many dentists do. Previous bad experiences: 1 quoted price for crowns and then doubled the price the day of the appointment. 2 His attorney sent a letter regarding a refund from my carrier which he wanted me to pay him for. I paid him the amount of the refund received even though it makes no sense why I would owe him money for something my insurance carrier reimbursed me for. 3 Quoted 3.5k for each of 4 veneers then charged me 8k each the day of the procedure. Only after I complained did he adjust the price but 500 dollars higher than original quote (paid 4k for each veneer). 4 during a recent visit Dr left black threads between my gum and my tooth. Said procedure was done and sent me home. The black thread left inside the gums caused a really bad infection. i had to pull out the threads on my own a week after the procedure. up to today I kept coming back simply for convenience. But it is time to find a new dentist. One that worries more about what is really bugging you vs worrying about pushing more expensive work. read more

Let me start by saying I DO NOT normally leave reviews. In this case, I was so impressed that I felt Dr. Taheri deserved to be acknowledged. I previously left a positive review for Dr. Taheri but without notification Yelp deleted it. I do hope that this time, Yelp will allow my review to remain published! Dr. Taheri is my Marcus Welby MD. For those of you too young to remember ... Marcus Welby MD was a show on television. He was portrayed as a Doctor that always went the extra mile for his patients, cared deeply, and provided exceptional service and care. Now of course, I always hoped to find a Dentist and a Doctor in real life that practiced with such integrity, expertise and caring. Finally, I have been fortunate enough to locate Dr. Taheri who possesses all those qualities and so much more. He is a professional, a perfectionist that takes his time, always confirming that you are comfortable and not in pain. In my case, he created a bridge for me. The bridge fits absolutely perfect, no pain or discomfort at all and the color match is true. Lisa from his office, even provided a follow-up call to check that my bridge was comfortable and that I was satisified. Wow! Dr. Taheri's equipment is all top of the line. There are no shortcuts or cheap material or equipment used here. He is an artist in scuplting the perfect replacement crowns and bridge. He in my book is one of a million.....and I am so glad to have found him by reading all the postive reviews in Yelp! If you are in need of dental work.....I highly recommend him. Regrettably, my recent visit to this dental practice was nothing short of a nightmare. The most pressing issue was the apparent lack of knowledge and proficiency displayed by the dentist. It quickly became clear that he lacked the fundamental understanding of proper patient treatment, exacerbating my discomfort during the process.The dentist's handling of procedures was severely misguided, leaving me in unnecessary pain and distress. What was worse, he seemed unaware of the gravity of his missteps and the adverse effects they had on me. Rather than owning up to his mistakes, he chose to dismiss my concerns, creating an atmosphere of tension and distrust. Furthermore, his lack of professionalism was evident in his demeanor and the way he interacted with me. He showed a blatant disregard for patient care, rushing through the appointment without offering any form of comfort or reassurance. I was left feeling unheard and uncared for, a sentiment I believe no patient should ever experience. In terms of communication, it was severely lacking. Proper explanations about my dental health status or the treatment I was about to receive were nonexistent. The dentist failed to provide clear, understandable information, making me feel uninformed and anxious. Overall, the experience was profoundly disappointing. A healthcare provider should exhibit competence, compassion, and professionalism. * permanent damage * I've waited years to write this review because by writing it, I'm publicly admitting that something's wrong with me. I'd had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Mark Taheri in 2015, but during the procedure Mark had accidentally cut part of the nerve that manages my tongue's motor function. As a result of that operation, I've lost part of my speech, and have since gone to leading specialists (including the dean of Harvard Dental School) to see if it could be fixed. Yet, nothing can be done. During my post-op, I told Dr. Taheri that I had numbness in my tongue, to which he said that it could take up to a year for the feeling to come back. When I conveyed what Dr. Taheri said to me, to a specialist, the specialist told me that Dr. Taheri didn't understand that he'd cut my nerve. The Harvard dean said that if Taheri had realized what he'd done at this one-month post-op then my nerve might have been saved. Yet, now I'm stuck with struggling to enunciate clearly for the rest of my life because of Dr. Taheri - to quote one specialist "what [Dr. Taheri] did to you could've been easily avoided." Now that I've had time to reflect, I'm not sure why he didn't refer me to an oral surgeon, but instead of just keeping this with me, I thought I'd share my experience to potentially save someone else from having to go through what I'm going to have to live with. read more

First off, I dread going to the dentist. I have had bad experiences in the past, so I am always nervous whenever I get work done. I found Mayo Dental online and decided to give them a try since their reviews were so positive. Well, they are all true! Dr Taheri and his staff are very friendly and professional. I had a bad crown done about 4 years ago, and it got to the point it needed to get replaced. I finally got it done on the 5th and it went so very well! He explained why my gums were receding from my bad crown and why I had tooth sensitivity. He is very knowledgeable. It went has fast as expected for that kind of work, and the best part was they made the crown in house, which means I had no temporary crown. Everything was done right then and there. I went home with a bran new porcelain crown that looks EXACTLY like my other teeth. It fits perfectly and I no longer have any sensitivity. I love the fact that it was done in one appointment as I don't live in SCV any longer. I highly recommend this dental facility. read more

Dr. Taheri and Staff are all top notch. We have never had a positive experience with a dentist in the past until we went to Mayo Dental and met Dr. Taheri. We can tell you this much....you will not feel like cattle being pushed through. Dr. Taheri takes his time, ensures you are comfortable and is genuinely caring about your comfort and the dental work he performs. He took time to ensure that our impressions were perfect and that the temporary bridge was comfortable and looked great asthetically. He was so gentle that I became so relaxed I think I fell asleep in the chair. Wow, and we even received a phone call from the office to ensure that we are both doing well. I was out on my yearly visit to the fam over mother's day and came down with an infection on a tooth. When you least expect it right! Looking around and reading bios on dentists is not fun when you have one hand to your face cringing. wow! I needed a dentist to do it all, and quite frankly, i don't enjoy going to the dentist multiple times. I came across Mayo Dental or May Dental, guess the name duplicates (sorry forgot to ask the office to clarify), and was introduced to Dr. Taheri, the boss of all bosses. He is definitely someone who commands the best out of everything he touches. Imagine going in with a shot tooth and toothache and walking out with an implant and crown on the same visit! And walk out in no pain, okay i'm dreaming now. I want to praise the doctor for setting up this facility and staff and demanding excellence. I'm a sensitive person and I have been searching for a thorough and sympathetic dentist to fix the chips on my front teeth. In the past I was always told veneers were the way to go but I couldn't bear the thought of shaving my teeth to slap porcelain on top of them, not to mention the heavy cost associated with them. My teeth have never been perfect but I did not want to have small chips on my front teeth. I hoped I could a dentist that can find a way to even my front teeth out without having the burden of doing porcelain work. With the special bonding technique he was able to line up my teeth without removing any of tooth structure. My teeth look straight and they look so natural. Volla!! Total con. He had me pay 200 cash for deep cleaning to be reimburst once he got insurance to authorize. A few weeks later he told me it wasnt covered,and I only get one cleaniing a year covered. Totall lie they did cover the deep cleaning, and I qulified for cleanings every 3 months. So I paid cash for the next couple cleanings aswell. When I asked to be reimburst for the false charges, he denied any wrong doing. Now they will not send me my account ledger, which my insurance company needs to continue their fraud invetigation. Ive also never heard so much whispering. Its like a cardealership. Aswell as the constant upselling of unnecessary procedures. Their star rating is obtained by giving free whitening gell for a five star rating. I guess he wants an upgrade to his porche. Its sad since tecnically hes not a bad dentist, hes just lacking integrity. read more
