Finally I was called by the receptionist who whispered, "I don't know if they told you, but there's a $450 payment due before you can see the doctor, and we don't accept insurance." "You can see if your insurance will reimburse you, they might since this is considered preventative." I laughed and said No, I wasn't told. I'd driven over an hour so I paid it. After I paid the $450 I sat about 10 minutes and someone came smiling to take me on a "Tour" of the office. Yes, the office is "High Tech" I felt as if it was staged and all who played a part would get a bit of the $450 I payed that day. The two brothers, I believe one is a DDS were very relaxed and there was just something different about them. I felt as if they were putting on an act. After showing me the office they took X-rays, showed me and explained a bit of the procedures, answered questions and back to the waiting room. I was then called into an office and presented with some suggested minerals to take prior to beginning the procedure, $165. Next came the cost. Glad I was sitting down because $46,000 would have floored me. This spoke volumes to me. So I had been in search of a holistic dentist for a while and came across Promenade and was happy with all the positive reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. When I first arrived for a regular check up/cleaning, the front desk seemed really nice and helpful and the place looked clean and professional. Once I was called in, I was asked by someone if I had my X-rays from my previous dentist with me. I told them no, and he proceeded to tell me that they need those X-rays. I repeated that I don't have it and was never told I needed to bring it. Plus, why do you need my old X-rays if you're going to take your own anyway? I felt very bullied with this. This person told me that my insurance wasn't going to cover any X-rays they would do and I would need to pay out of pocket. I told him I wasn't going to do that and even offered to leave. He told me that I can't leave "for legal reasons." Which definitely rubbed me the wrong way. He also told me that since I mentioned I have my wisdom teeth intact, I "have to get a Ct scan". What?! After some back and forth, he finally agreed to take regular X-rays saying "they would cover the cost" even though I later found out that my insurance DID cover the xrays, as I suspected. Even though he took his own X-rays, he proceeded to tell me that I have to still get my old X-rays from my previous dentist. This makes no sense!!! Plus, if they want it so bad, shouldn't they call themselves to ask for it? I had a filling and came back to get it filled since I really liked the dentist Dr Ben. I came back and Dr Ben wasn't there, it was another lady who was covering for him. I trusted her and let her do my filling. The entire time I had a feeling she wasn't sure what she was doing. Not only did she drop things a few items, but she would ask the hygienist to check her work. 2 weeks later, I had pain on the tooth they did the filling on. I did not want to go back to promenade so I went back to my old dentist to get that filling checked out. After an X-ray, it was discovered that the filling wasn't done correctly and I had to redo the filling. When my dentist started to redo the filling, he saw lots of leftover cavity in my tooth that was causing the pain. So thanks to Promenade, I had to get my filling done, again, and I had to pay out of pocket since my insurance wouldn't cover the same tooth again. I do not recommend this place. read more

I think they saved my life. I suffered from anxiety, random temple headaches that would come and go, pain in my lymph nodes, pain in my shoulder, even pain in my left breast. I am 34 year old fit and active female who is very health conscious- even strange panic attacks that would happen from the slightest stressors. Never would I guess that it came from previously filled root canals and cavitations in my jaw bone. I had seen 6 different dentists in the past 18 months and all of them failed me - not seeing any of these infections in the numerous scans (including several cone bean scans) the severe infections in my jaw that was necrotic bone causing brain fog, stress and random pains throughout my body. My experience at Smile Body: I had 3 of my previously filled root canals extracted at SmileBody and 4 cavitations done in one day. I was put under sedation and it was easy breezy- woke up and asked "wait we are done? Are you sure?" It was so easy and only took an hour. The healing process for the past 3 days was ROUGH though - I panicked for a couple of days but I continued taking the vitamins they gave me, the IB profen & antibiotics and decided to take a long walk on my 3rd day - holding an ice pack on both sides of my jaw for the first 20 minutes of my walk and suddenly after drinking some water and took more vitamins (shilajet, vitamin C, glutethion) I miraculously felt like a new person. No anxiety, no random temple headache. It's a miracle. Even though it's the 3rd day I know I can only feel better and better as the days go on and I am so excited for it! I really recommend this place to everyone and anyone! They might have your answers to your chronic strange symptoms no one else can figure out! My family of 4 have been with this dentist for 15 years although the dentist has changed twice during that time and I just received a letter telling me to find another dentist because I refused a deep cleaning. I made this decision because I had no bone loss, no cavities, no bleeding and I didn't feel it was necessary. He told me verbally if I didn't follow his plan he could be sued if something went wrong. I and the dentist remained polite to each other throughout. I find this quite shocking so stear clear of this practice. I also have found their accounting to be concerning. They scanned me again and gave me new trays which just extended my time wearing Invisaligns but still didn't work. My teeth are still quite crowded and when I called them to ask for resolution the receptionist said she would contact the doctor and billing specialist but I never heard back. can't believe how fortunate I am to have found Smilebody! I have learned so much about oral health and feel like I'm in incredibly good hands with the entire staff. They are all so pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I searched for a holistic dentist to remove a root canal that two "regular" dentists refused to remove because "we don't extract healthy teeth!" Since when is a root canal considered a healthy tooth? Anyway, I had it for less than a year and it had been bothering me since day one. Don't be fooled. Promenade Dental has provided quality dental care in Santa Clarita. However they are no longer Promenade Dental, they are now Smilebody Dental + Medical Well Being. The past 6 months or so, I have noticed an attempt, when I have gone to the dentist, to recommend treatments that are really not needed (i.e. deep cleaning or special x-ray images). Someone even changed my cleaning schedule from every 4 months to every 2 months. Earlier this week, I received notice from Delta Dental that the dentist would no longer be accepting my PPO insurance as of 10/24/24. If I continue with SmileBody, I will have to pay full fee out of pocket for all services and be reimbursed by the insurance at Out-Of-Network rates, which will be less favorable than contracted PPO rates. I did not receive notice from Promenade Dentistry, although the change to SmileBody has been planned for months. They have moved to a much larger facility and had it custom renovated to accommodate their new and existing services. When I called the office today, they confirmed my understanding about the insurance and patient financial changes are correct. When I asked why the practice did not notify patients, I was told they were letting the insurances do that, When I said that I would need to be looking for a new dentist, that was ok, A drop in practice size was most likely anticipated by Drs. I had been going to Promenade dentistry for approx. 15 years. At first everything was great, they did excellent crowns, staff was nice, scheduling was convenient, aside from always wanting to upsell you on procedures not covered by insurance, Everything seemed good. Then a pattern started where my crowns would start breaking, and they would blame me. Then a 1 yr old bridge broke, which cost me around 2k (even with insurance) when it was installed. When I went for treatment for it, they said Insurance wont cover any of it since its been less than 5 years since they last worked on that tooth, quoted me 9k for a 4 tooth bridge. They took no responsibility that there dental appliance broke within 12 months. They blamed me again exact quote from DR. "Are you chewing on rocks?" - Then was told it was my fault cause I didn't spend "X" amount of dollars on the first bridge to make it out of a stronger material. Started getting very disillusioned with their service, but at the same time, I had been going there for so long I didn't want to make a change. After several disappointing interaction's over the last 3 months with, wrong appointments, cancelled appointments, basic lack of any caring about your discomfort or any desire to expedite relief to you in any way. I am DONE!!!! Here is how your visit will go: 1st step - Evaluation appointment - You will receive no treatment at this time, you will be evaluated on ways to provide you with costly implants, crowns, and veneers. They will come up with a expensive treatment plan. Then you will be sent to the Dental Treatment Coordinator, don't even get me started about her, There you will be given a cost breakdown of the Dr. treatment plan which will be filled with things that are not covered by insurance and may not even be necessary. Very much feels like I'm buying a new car and the sales manager is pushing the extended warranty and alarm system. 2nd step - RUN! Find a new dentist. Overall, if you are in pain or have a cavity, but are on a budget and would like your pain to be alleviated as soon as possible. GO SOMEPLACE ELSE! On the other hand if you have 30 to 60k to spend on expensive implants and veneers and dont mind delays or excuses when said procedures fail, this might be just the place for you. I can not recommend this place less. I highly recommend that you get a second opinion or simply don't go here. While the staff are all friendly, I am shocked at just how much they are trying to rip off their patients. I was told I had 3 small cavities and would need porcelain onlays. When I asked if I could just get regular fillings they said that the onlays were what was needed and not fillings. I didn't feel right about what they said regarding my teeth as I go for regular dental checkups and hadn't been experiencing pain in those teeth. I got a second opinion from a dentist at a different practice. Turns out, I only need 2 small fillings. With Promenade I was going to need to spend $1267 out of my own pocket after insurance, with my new dentist I am only spending 75 dollars out of pocket after insurance. The dentist I just saw was shocked that I was told I would need onlays as I do not need them at all. I had also gotten a quote from both dentists for Invisalign. Promenade quoted me 5,500. I got a free consultation regarding a failing root canal and decided to go ahead and do an extraction. I decided to get the extraction with the oral surgeon, Dr Lu, because I didn't want sedation. It was his birthday and I told him I just turned 40. He said, "Well at least you made it to 40 with all your teeth" Then he pulled my tooth out. The procedure itself was not my favorite way to spend an afternoon, but also not traumatizing or painful at all. First of all, I want to start off by saying that if I could I would not even give this office one star. I am so disappointed in the work that was done. I received a whitening and two crowns. The assistant who did my whitening burned my gums. My teeth didn't even get white. Mind you, my teeth have been whitened before and I had pearly white results. My lower teeth are hitting the lingual surface of my upper crowns causing me headaches and occasional sharp pain. It was an embarrassing experience for not only myself but my grandpa. He was so confused and really sad after he was told they would not help him. Every visit we have to the dentist is great. I just had 2 wisdom teeth removed and I almost wanted to go for more. Dr. Liu is super knowledgable and super patient. He explained everything from beginning to end exactly as it went. I have friends that have been going to different dentists and can't believe how good my experience is. I have been going to Doctor Ben for many years now. One time, in particular stands out. I was going on a trip, two days later, and an old implant crown (from 30 years ago - a different dental office) popped out while I was flossing. To make matters worse, it was a front tooth. I called, in a panic. The very next day, although doctor Ben was incredibly busy, with multiple surgeries, he found time (between two of them) to reinsert the crown. I was warmly greeted upon arriving, Claudia (the assistant) was attentive, kind, and gentle during my polish and the doctor was incredibly understanding and thoughtful. Do NOT go here. The only positive is the staff in the office is very friendly and make you feel very comfortable.They also sedate you which I found very attractive. I had them extract one broken tooth and after 3 months of healing was ready to have the implant put in and then I broke another tooth. The appoint was in mid-September. The dentist Dr. Javid, took x-rays and I booked an appointment to have the new broken tooth removed and at the same time put in the implant so I only needed to be sedated once for both procedures. I was on board. After reviewing the x-rays he said I have 5 cavities, ALL of which needed crowns. Typically cavities don't ALL need crowns. So, as is my right to do so, and for financial reasons, I called the office and inquired which subsequent procedures I would need immediately that were serious and which could wait until possibly next year as my insurance only covered up to $2000 annually and the implant was going to use that all up even though the office was in network wtih my insurance. I wasn't given an answer and told to come in to discuss. The next thing I knew, I get a letter in the mail, telling me that my relationship with my dentist was "missing important elements of communication, trust and mutual understanding and that I was "not a good fit" for their office and told me seek dental services elsewhere. I was beyond shocked. I tried to call to get some kind of explanation of what a "good fit" meant and when I wasn't given any concrete rationale for their decision, I have to assume that "asking questions" of the dentist means you are "not a good fit" as there was literally no other explanation given. What kind of doctor/dentist has a problem with a patient asking questions? I saw my family general dentist and he looked at the x-rays. He said there was NO WAY any of my other teeth needed crowns as they were just tiny cavities and couldn't believe I was told I needed 5 crowns. I gave them multiple chances to change their mind to at least finish the work that had been started, and then they could release me, but to no avail. I was actually blacklisted from this office for NO GOOD REASON. So, all I can assume is that the dentist's office is trying to make as much money off you as possible and just can't handle anyone who doesn't take their word as gospel. Now, I realize that this happened for the best, as I would have been out a ton of money had I continued to let this office do these procedures. They actually cancelled my mid-September appointment two weeks before it was scheduled and refused to finish the work they started, leaving me high and dry having to find a new dentist and new insurance. If you read some of the other reviews, like Sarah B, Felix T., and more, it looks like many other people have similar complaints of these dentists trying to gauge them financially. I have never in my life written a bad review about ANYONE, but I feel that I needed to tell my story in the hopes that someone else won't experience the anxiety this office has put me through. Dr. Ben is hands down the best dentist I've ever been to! He stands behind his work and everyone should go to him for their dental needs. Other dentists I've been to try to sell you on everything, and make you feel like you're going to die if you don't do a procedure. Dr. Ben is amazing. Alright.....I never write reviews or am not one to put anyone down as we all have bad days once in awhile, however, I want to express how AMAZING my visit to the dentist was yesterday. Please do not judge my punctuation or grammar as I am doing this from a phone and not worried about all that.....just want to make my point. So I am a nervous person in general and the dentist office just makes me CRAZY normally but yesterday was the first time I felt so comfortable from the time I arrived to the time I left the building. Everyone was extremely kind and professional. The minute I walked in the front desk staff were so pleasant and friendly, answering the questions I had with such enthusiasm. Once I was taken back I was introduced to another lovely young lady who did my x-rays and was just pleasant as a peach. After the xrays I was fortunate to meed the Dentist Benjamin Javid who was so down to earth and comforting. It was very quickly that I realized I felt super comfortable and was in the right place. Ben went over everything that had been done recently and in the past with my dental work and then went into what he reccommends for future work. They have a way of just making you feel like a friend and at home in thier office. From here I went to another room for my cleaning and talk about a nice young lady my Hygienest was so caring and just professional in a way that I was taken back. Lastly, I went to Lynda to wrap up my visit and talk about future dental work. She was extremly pleasant and kind. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with her professionalism and knowledge on what she does. Again....I was so impressed. Being in the medical field I know the importance of making a patient feel comfortable and this is exaclty how I felt the entire visit. I feel pretty lucky that I was fortunate to stumble across such great people. How crazy is it that one would say.... I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK TO THE DENTIST. LOL. True story. Thank you all so much. I have been coming to this dentist office for over one year now. My only regret is that I did not come sooner in my lifetime. From the front desk to the coordinator to the dentist I have never seen a set of people be so awesome carrying and just so good at taking care of a person. I love this office. The staff is extremely helpful and I formative. I have been coming here for 6 years. Since they had the office at their other location. Dr Ben and Dr Shawn are both amazing. Leona is the dental hygenist. She is awesome. I have a terrible gag reflex and they are very very patient dealing with the x-ray process. I recommend Promenade to all my friends and anyone who asks for a recommendation. They are conveniently located and they are open Saturdays. It does not get any better-trust me! read more

My whole family comes to Promenade Dentistry and we love Dr. Ben, Dr. Allen, Melissa and all of the staff. Everyone is so nice no matter what the situation. As soon as you walk in, the girls know your name without you having to say anything. Such a small thing, but I love that because you feel like they care. I had four implants done with Dr. Shawn. He is so gentle and caring. He told me exactly how everything was going to go and he delivered on his promise. Was a lot tike sore but not bad. Not what I expected. Loved the girls. They where very helpful to keep me calm. I had a blanket and headphones and pillow. Loved the service. The pricing was very fair as well. They did a payment plan for me. Looking forward to getting some teeth. Very very good experience. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Ben at this office for a few years now. The whole office is very clean and they offer free water and other drinks (I think coffee) while you wait. All of the staff have been consistently friendly and helpful no matter what my issue is. I've had cleanings, fillings, crowns and a mouth guard during my time visiting this office and all the procedures have been smooth. One time one of the dental hygienists noticed that my bottom teeth seemed flat. She told me I was grinding my teeth at night which was wearing them down. I now use a mouth guard when I sleep and have been very thankful she was able to spot that and let me know! This office has definitely earned all five stars, in my opinion. read more
