Never made it past the front counter, after filling out paperwork I saw fees that I would have to pay I explained I just had my regular eye exam and had the pictures and eye refraction done, so I was informed it would have to be done again (at a higher price.) no problem I informed them this was just my consultation and when I have procedure done I would pay this fee, I was informed this is not the way it works, so I let them know Im not paying upfront for something that might not be done for more than a month, so they said I was done and out the door I went. Absolutely wonderful! I had a severe acute case of double vision, and the receptionist Juliann was very helpful and managed to get me in the next morning. The technician Janna was very efficient and professional as took time entering all of my information, especially being a new patient who had pages of release info from an eight hour ER visit from a couple days prior. Dr Clymer was amazing. She was patient, concerned, and listened well, which was extraordinary considering she was working me in amongst her regular appointments. She incredibly thorough, with the appointment lasting almost four hours, and I am quite pleased with the compassion, service, expertise, and also the outcome. Dr May and Dr Lampkin are very rude and unprofessional, they treated my mother with disrespect. I would never recommend this office to anyone. Unless you want to wait at least 2 hours for every appointment, have rude staff, and rude doctors that only want you so they can bill the insurance. If you are a Lasik Plus patient looking to be tested for a touch up, NEVER go here. I made an appointment and told them what I needed done and they had no idea what I was talking about, they told me to bring my paper in and show Dr. May. I came in and showed him the Lasik Plus Touch Up paper (which gives step by step instructions on how to fill out the paper and what tests need to be done). He gave it scribe and said he would fill it out at a later time. I never received anything in the mail so I contacted the office constantly and was told they would contact the scribe, never got an answer. 6 weeks later, I went to the office with a copy of the paper and to speak to the office manager. She told me that a doctor had to release records in order for him to fill out the test form. I informed her that all the instructions were printed above and she agreed that it should not have taken that long. She told me that she would get him to sign it then mail it back to me. I get it back almost a week later and it was not completely filled out. I went back to the office to speak to the office manager. When I told her it wasn't filled out completely, she started to give me an attitude. She told me that Dr. May makes the decision if I can have the touch up (not true) and continued to talk about release forms. She also told me that they don't do that test that I had come in for. So, now I am stuck with a $175 bill for something their office didn't even do. Unfortunately, I have to update this review. This office is extremely corrupt and not willing to work with its patients. I am trying to pay my bill in the amount that I am able to and they refused to take it. They said if I don't make the payment that they choose, they will send me to A collection agency. I am writing this review on behalf of my cousin John who I look after and care for medically and legally. I was calling to reschedule an appointment for John and spoke to the receptionist and after giving John's name to them she said I would have to speak to a supervisor and proceeded to put me on hold. I went through the pre recorded message 4 times and waited for over 30 minutes on hold. John and his wife are challenged and have some communication issues so I try and follow up with their appointments. Well apparently there was an issue with his appointment and from what I can see John didn't have his Medicare card available when first entering the office. His wife was sure she had it in her purse but was unable to retrieve it . Understandable they couldn't see him without it so John left and went outside to their car where his wife took everything out of her purse and found the card. They went back in to show them they had found the card and were turned away saying that his appointment was already filled. Now after the experience I had with them today on the phone and the one John had with them at the time of his appointment it obvious that they didn't want to see John at all. Before writing this review I read the other reviews posted and it's obvious that there are issues here. John is elderly and going to the doctors is a task for him and he's on a limited budget so just the waste of gas driving their ads up for them. I have been Dr Mays patient for the past 15 years, when I first started going to him I was wearing glasses full time, I eventually asked him if I possibly be a candidate for Lasik surgery, I was tested and found to be a good candidate, I had my surgery three weeks later and have been amazed at the clarity and vision I now have. I was in there twice for an eye infection, first the initial diagnosis, then the check up. Both times I waited over an hour for my appointments. Second time my appointment was at 11:30, still waiting at 12 I asked an assistant when I was going to be seen, she informed me the doctors were out at lunch until 1. BEWARE!! Dr. May's LASIK procedure caused eye scarring, which after going to multiple specialists, still hasn't been resolved and may not ever be. He would not admit to this mistake as all specialists said the only reason for this type of eye trauma is from the procedure that Dr. May completed. Please don't go here! read more

Word to the Wise! After about a year of deliberation, I felt it was my duty to inform others that are considering The May Eye Care Clinic of Hanover, PA for their laser surgery to think twice. My personal experience is simply this: After my exam, I was informed by Dr. May himself that there's a "Federal Law" against making a laser adjustment to my eye and it most likely won't last more than 6 months anyway since I have an "age related nuclear cataract"..meaning it's a microscopic cataract that happens to most people of my age...WE ALL GET IT TO SOME DEGREE! He suggested instead to have implants at the tune of $4,500 each that would solve my problem... I did some checking...there is NO such law...it's simply an "Upsell" ...plain and simple. (I'm guessing he has a boat or vacation home to pay for) Anyway, there's more but I had lasic surgery completed elsewhere and they never heard of such a law either...and the surgery went great and I have 20/20 vision.. Cost...$700 My suggestion: Get several no or low cost opinions, ask questions and get the "professional analysis" in writing...if they're on the level, they'll be happy to. The staff was very concerned about my condition, showed great compassion for my anxiety due to the surgery but most importantly, genuinely cared about me as a patient. If you need an ophthalmologist, Dr. May would be my recommendation. read more
