I first used Maya and Company a couple months ago and they altered a vintage dress that was my mom's to fit me better in the shoulders. They did a wonderful job so I brought them my wedding dress and a jumpsuit for my rehearsal dinner. They were amazing! My dress had all this beading and detail and they did such a good job. Their work is impeccable. It had to be taken out about a little, the torso shortened, hemmed, and bustled. They did a wonderful job with the bustle! I was so pleased. And they got everything else just right too- it fit perfectly. I would definitely recommend them. Maya and her sister are magicians! First of all, never buy your wedding dress from TB Dress. Maya & her sister took the garbage that I received from TB, and transformed the dress into the actual advertised dress, but customized to my liking. They were able to replace the PINK inner lining with the lovely champagne color I wanted. The entire dress was made poorly originally, and they managed to undo the frock piece by piece. Most importantly, they were extremely patient and up for the challenge. I had taken it to another Alterations place beforehand, that wanted nothing to do with it. Maya was recommended by Karen, my friend at work (see previous review). Her dress looked amazing on her so I decided to meet up with Maya and show her my dress. I came in for a quote and ended up working with them after checking out a couple other places. They're so nice to work with and so reassuring that they can make the alterations that I needed to get done (there's one in Pasadena that was a bit rude) We started on my ceremony dress and my wedding reception dress a few weeks prior. The ceremony dress was a midi length (more appropriate for the courthouse) which was a bit too long on the torso. The reception dress needed the length to be cut and I had the back of the dress changed to remove the sheer material and the white zipper. They fit perfectly after the alterations and my reception dress was even better than the original style. Their pricing is very reasonable for the quality of work that they do. I've now had four dresses and a jumpsuit tailored here. Everyone at Maya & Company is great -- so knowledgeable and so helpful. Some of the dress alternations weren't easy but they knew exactly what should be adjusted so that everything would fit better. They are also very fast and I thought all the prices were fair. I will continue to bring in all future dresses and the like to Maya & Company. I used Maya a little over a month ago for 3 suits, 2 jackets, a vest and 3 shirts. I am very happy with the work that was done with the everything i left there. I have been going to a tailor in beverly hills for years who i thought (and still do think) did an excellent job but Maya really puts a more fashionable eye on the style and tailoring in my opinion. I prefer the tailor to make recommendations for me and she did a great job at getting the best fit for my personal style in the jackets and definitely the shirts. I'm probably going to take the other tailored suits that i have to have her to re-evaluate or update what was done with them. I highly recommend and will continue to use Maya & Company. As others pointed out the shop is behind a house, it did throw me off when i was trying to find the place. Just walk straight to the back. If you are looking for an excellent tailor, look no further. I first went to Maya earlier in the year to get a new pair of suit pants and the sleeves of a suit jacket hemmed. I was very satisfied with her work then, but what really impressed me was my last visit just earlier today. After purchasing two pairs of expensive jeans at Nordstrom, Nordstrom's in-house tailor totally botched my brand new jeans (uneven/crooked stitching and cut). This joke of a tailor at Nordstrom also straight out lied stating that she attached the original hem as I requested when she did not. Fortunately, Nordstrom has great customer service and gave me brand new pairs of jeans. I immediately took my brand new jeans and a brand new suit the next day to Maya. I am very particular and specific on what I like and what I want. Maya was very patient in listening to my requests and in offering suggestions. Maya brought in the waist on the jeans and suit pants in addition to hemming them. For the suit jacket, she brought in the sides to make it trimmer and shortened the sleeves from the shoulders; all more than a simple alteration job. I picked up these items today and I could not be happier. Everything fits great and the execution of her work is perfect. I actually dropped off another pair of jeans today, which I'm having her bring in the waist and tapering the entire leg to make it slimmer. I also plan to bring in a blazer to her my next visit. In addition to the high quality workmanship, Maya is a very kind and pleasant person to deal with. I'm sorry that this review took me so long to put up, but life got a little crazy after my wedding last summer. I was recommended to Maya by a friend of a friend, and took a chance since she clearly has experience with tailoring gowns. I had a very bland strapless wedding dress that I wanted to snazz up, and after hearing just a few words of my idea, Maya turned the dress into my dream gown. She added sheer straps, took the straight-across neckline to a deep V, and added a built in bra, along with adding belt and bustle loops. I also had my rehearsal dinner dress altered from a maxi to a midi. I found the prices to be very reasonable and the quality of work was impeccable. Both ladies were very sweet and easy to work with, too. I have a whole pile of clothing waiting to bring over for alterations when I have a free weekend! read more

I needed some pants tailored for an upcoming event and so I used Yelp to try and find someone worthy. You did it Yelp. Maya and Company was absolutely perfect for what I needed. A Georgian immigrant, Maya is kind and extremely knowledgeable. Not to mention, her entire family is adorable- her son kept my wife entertained while I tried on my pants. But more to her work- she took two inches off my waist in my pants, completely re-altered the entire backside of my pants, and hemmed the leg in a way that I've never seen. My pants look incredibly sharp. It makes me want to take all my clothes in, as she just made them look really good. As far as practicality goes, she has a workshop in the back of her house, so you have to keep walking a ways to get to her studio. She also works cash only, but of course you don't pay until after you have been quoted a price. I seriously cannot recommend Maya and Company enough. I dropped off a tux to have the jacket and pants altered and taken in a bit. It came out perfect and a lot of people complimented on how much weight I lost. I don't think I lost weight, I think the tux made me look good. Here's a tip for all the rookies out there that complain about price or time. Most of the time if you buy a cheap ill fitting suit, the alteration to make it look good will cost at the very min as much as the suit if not more. Making a bad fitting suit look good isn't a $19 hem, it's usually $175-250+. When I picked up my suit there was a kid in front of me who had no idea what he was doing, brought in a suit that was sized to fit someone who weighed 75lbs more than him. I think it was his first suit ever, and was shocked by the price. It was a Tuesday evening and he needed it by Thursday, lol sorry kid get ready for an extra fee. To all the guys out there, if the suit looks like ass before you bring it in, be prepared to pay at least $175, and if you need it within a day or two, good luck, you should have been here 3 weeks ago. read more

I had a 2 inch hole in my jeans that I was trying to get stitched up. The lady told me 15 dollars over the phone but when I got there she told me it would cost over $50 dollars. They don't even have a real store and are working out of there garage. I took it to another place down the street and they charged me $5. read more

I went to Maya's for alterations on my wedding dress (the bridal store messed up my measurements and the result was unwearable). Maya was the kind of person a frantic bride hopes to encounter- professional and knowing exactly what needed to be done, but also kind and patient enough to reassuringly guide me through the process. She helped me understand the mistakes they had made and what my options were. My only complaint is that it took a week or two longer than they originally told me, and I had to call to get the update. Pricing: I don't know enough to be able to compare to others, but I know I felt every penny was well spent. But remember: CASH OR CHECK ONLY. I brought a bridesmaid dress to be altered and they said they could do it take it in for 180.00 when I went for the 3rd try on she tried to charge me more money after she stated it would be one flat price 180.00 saying I lost weight which was not a significant weight loss, the dress was dirty, in front and bottom, then the alteration was not done properly it was wrinkled and crinkled very unhappy customer and they dont care anything about customer satisfaction they want your $$$, please be careful...i would not recommend this place or come back. read more

Obscenely overpriced! To take in a blazer, add shoulder pads, and shorten the length at the bottom... $185. Take in a dress shirt and adjust the sleeves and length... $120. Hem dress pants and taper the leg... $85. Total came out to $390 and if I wanted it ready by the next day... $195. That's $585! Are you kidding me? I probably shouldn't have mentioned that it was for my wedding. Maya's sister, Sia was the one who tended to me. I wasn't to fond of her social skills at first, but shrugged it off assuming it was due to the cultural differences. The way she worded things just made me feel a bit bothered. When she told me the ridiculous price, I actually contemplated going through with it but eventually and politely declined. As she removed the pins from my suit pieces, she became even more cold than she was in the beginning and even said, "We do exceptional work and if you take it anywhere for less, it will not look good." Well, I took it somewhere else for a fraction of the price and within a couple hours! I must say, I am quite pleased with the work. If you feel so inclined to go to Maya & Company for your tailoring needs, maybe don't say your suit is for a wedding. Say it is for a funeral (because they will definitely murder your wallet). Ugh, I wasn't going to leave a review but knowing I almost shelled out close to $1000 to tailor two suits makes me want to barf. read more
