Really disappointing experience. I was very clear from the start that I only needed one alteration done before moving and would handle the rest elsewhere. The seamstress Garine was kind and helpful, but another employee Zina was so incredibly rude. She came off very kind in the beginning but she is a very hostile woman who made the entire experience a very sad one for me and it's still on my mind. When I went to pick up my dress, she called me and immediately accused me of being "disrespectful" for not doing all my alterations with them--something that was never stated to me as a clear policy. In person, she continued to speak to me harshly and said I wasted their time and what I did was not acceptable. She said it so many times and so aggressively I started to cry, and only then she felt bad for being so ridiculously harsh. I even offered to apologize to her seamstress who she claims I was wasting her time, to which she then told told me "it's not a big deal" To make it worse, I was quoted $50 but charged $75 with no clear explanation. I did not want to further argue so I paid what was asked. I went in to pick up my wedding dress, an experience every girl wants to remember for the rest of their lives and left feeling upset and honestly in tears. No customer should be treated this way. Really disappointing experience here when I went with my sister for her first ever wedding dress shopping experience. When we first arrived the lady in the shop said they forgot they had an appointment and seemed unprepared. That was the first red flag. Then when she questioned my sister about her wants she was shamed for wanting to spend less than what the store offered and fat shamed when looking at dresses to try on. That should have been our sign to leave without completing the appointment, but my sister was on a time crunch since her wedding was five months away. Short time frame I know, but she unfortunately had to schedule it sooner due to family. Any way we continued with the appointment and she was forced to wear a dress WAY too big just to have this lady hold up dresses to her in front of the mirror and decide on a dress. Like why agree to see a bride if you do not have the dresses to cater to her body type. Mind you she was six months postpartum and still adapting to her new body at the time and not feeling her best. How incredibly rude and awful for my sister to be put into such an uncomfortable experience on what should have been her special exciting day. She never got to try on an actual dress just imagine what it looked like on. She was so overwhelmed and felt forced to say yes to a dress because of how pushy the lady was. Fast forward to alterations and the dress was WAY TOO SMALL and they had the audacity to fat shame my sister saying she gained weight since the initial appointment when she had in fact LOST WEIGHT and was smaller than she was at the initial appointment because of working out and using a GLP-1 medication! My sister was so upset she decided to cancel her dress and go somewhere else because of how awful the whole thing was for her. It overall was a terrible experience and I DO NOT recommend any bride who is not a stick thin or standard size and not wanting to spend loads of money on a dress to come to this shop because you will not be accommodated and you will surely be disappointed! read more

This place is HORRIBLE, from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. I am a new bride and have never gone to a wedding/got married before so I obviously know nothing, the owner Zina made me feel so stupid and was saying racist and out of pocket comments. She told me I should've married a Korean guy instead of a Chinese man because Chinese men are cheap and she said well it's too late now. She asked me what my budget was and said she has nothing within that range and how I won't find any dress within that range ANYWHERE. My price range was 3k because I personally don't think spending so much money on a dress that will only be worn once is worth more money. She kept telling me I wouldn't find a dress and how due to such a short amount of time I needed to find a dress like yesterday so I felt pressured to buy a dress right there and then. Fast forward to getting a dress, it arrived and I had my first fitting and the dress was extremely small. They blamed me gaining weight and said how I am crazy to think I have lost a significant amount of weight. Let me remind you I am 7 months postpartum! I have been on a GLP injection for 3 months (I am not breastfeeding). I went to davids bridal and I am measuring smaller than what I did 3 months ago when they first measured me!! I had went to multiple places and they all couldn't believe I experienced this here. I am of color so maybe that's why I was treated this way but please don't go here if you are a new bride. I found a very beautiful dress at David's Bridal and the staff treated me and my baby so amazing! Don't waste your time here. I hate to be writing this review, but I feel my experience should be shared. I came to Joli Bride to get my bustle added to my wedding dress last year. After extensive research on which place to trust most, I committed to Joli Bride. Getting an appointment was rather easy, and the customer service was truly great. However, I found there to be issues with my bustle on my wedding day. During my last fitting at Joli, I noticed that the bustle (that took 3 weeks to add and priced around $300), was a mere ultra thin thread that was added to my dress to hook on the one button that was added. Even at the time of my fitting, the "bustle" that was added seemed wildly weak, but the owner assured me that it would work well and I didn't want to push her too much. On my wedding day, I found the bustle to be completely ineffective. During important moments like my first dance and the father daughter dance, the bustle kept unhooking off its one button. I'm sad because my wedding photos and videos now have me holding my train in my arms rather than truly enjoying the festivities of my wedding day. No matter how many times my planner added the bustle back, it kept unhooking itself. With that said - I recommend you speak up if you ever have any concerns about your bustle! Ask questions...and please be sure to jump up and down in your dress as a test run to ensure your bustle is secure and does what it intends to do. I just don't want any other brides going through what I had to go through! read more

Joli Bride is a smaller family business but their collection of dresses is carefully curated. Each dress they have felt intentional and high quality. I found my ceremony dress here and the staff were incredibly kind. One thing I like is they allow you to try on dresses on your own. They offer suggestions but also give you space to look around and see what you like. They let me try on my dream dress twice so I could confirm that I was ready to say yes to the dress. I called in a frenzy as my wedding date is 3 weeks away and expressed that despite having a dress, I am unsure it is "the one" the owner was so accommodating and kind, told me I could come in that morning and when I arrived she showed me a beautiful selection! Even showed and allowed me to try a few in despite not having an appointment. She made me feel like a Queen. She was patient, honest and not pushy. She will tell you the truth and isn't just trying to sell you anything. I ended up falling in love with all 3 dresses, one was out of my budget and I ran out of time from trying to decide because I had so many good options but she calmly told me to think on what I tried and come back if I can. Writing this review form my honeymoon-- I just can't thank Zeina enough for this experience and for my gorgeous wedding dress! My mom found Joli Bride after we had already been to few bridal stores. At that point I had no idea what I wanted and had actually wanted to take a break from looking as the options were overwhelming. My mom called the store last minute on a Thursday afternoon and Zeina kindly gave us an appointment that same day. The shop itself is in the cutest spot in Sierra Madre, next to my favorite coffee shop which has since closed. They had such wonderful options and Zeina let me try on different styles, etc. and gave wonderful advice once hearing my preferences and seeing me in a few styles. I ended up going back 3 times with my mom and grandmother as at least twice I thought I found "the one". But then on our third visit, we found her! The most gorgeous Gemy Maalouf dress-- I will never forget the first time I saw myself in it. From there, the alternation process was simple, only went back twice and they fixed the bustle which initially looked a little too poofed out for my taste. I got married on May 31st, and I chose a wedding dress from Joli Bride. This was my 5th store and I ended up going alone feeling discouraged. They had a sample sale and I tried on a Lazaro gown that I ended up loving. It was also just announced that he was retiring. Zina shared this information with me and walked me through the whole process. I cannot recommend Joli enough, but above all- Zina. She was incredibly warm, caring, patient, helpful. She gave me ideas for alterations since the neckline was a bit uncomfortable for me. I know their seamstress has worked with the best of the best and I would have gone with her for alterations gladly if my friend didn't offer to do them as a wedding gift. Joli was SO reasonably priced, even though you cannot put a price on having that kind of support and guidance for one of the most momentous days of your life. My experience with Joli Bride was better than expected. People say so much about this part of the wedding planning process but for me this part felt easy and fun! I don't remember being stressed once about my dress, the service and attention to detail I received from them was unmatched. I wasn't easy either, I was losing and gaining weight throughout the whole process, I would feel guilty about it but all I got back from them was "no problem, we will take care of it". They had the best attitudes, truly took the stress off me when it came to my wedding dress. I could feel they just really wanted me to be happy with it, and I was! I can't say enough amazing things about Zina and Ani at Joli Bride. I had 5-6 months until my wedding when I visited Joli. I only tried on 4 dresses until we found the one and it was the opposite style I came in looking for... but it was perfect! I wanted to add a skirt over the dress as it was more form-fitting and Zina made it happen! I was worried about the dresses arriving on time, but she assured me not to stress and she would get it here, and of course it arrived before the promise date. Ani worked her magic altering the dress and skirt and everything came out beautiful. I felt like family coming here and no matter the day or time, they were both available to help me. Went to Joli after shopping at a couple other places to end our day of wedding dress shopping. Before the appointment, I had filled out an online request and they were quick to call me to confirm an appointment. We ended up arriving about 20-30 minutes early but there was no one else in the shop so they took us in early, which was very nice of them. Overall though, I didn't have a great experience. Pros: - They have a beautiful, modern space that just felt "bridal" when you walked in - They had three consultants that all helped me during the appointment - They walked through each of the dresses they had to ask my opinions and see what would work best, and talked about options to add sleeves, remove layers, and add accessories to each dress Cons: - They didn't ask my budget at the start of the appointment like the other places did so the only dress I ended up liking was 6 times my max budget ($6,000 when my max was $1,000). I did fill out a form when I first walked in and listed my budget, but they didn't seem to take that into consideration, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned budget on the online form and over the phone (though I can't remember for sure so I might not have) - I didn't feel like they listened to what I was looking for in a dress (I mentioned a few times that we're having an outdoor ceremony so I wasn't looking for a ball gown or something with a lot of glitter/jewels and almost everything they pulled for me had both). They were mindful of that though, saying I could find something I liked even if it didn't look like a good fit in the rack. - I didn't feel like the customer service matched the price (at the end of the appointment, they mentioned dresses that start at $1,800). At one point, I mentioned the lace on one dress was itchy and they kept saying no one else had said that before, but my skin was red where the lace had been after we left so even if it didn't happen for others, it definitely happened for me and I think it was dismissive to say it wasn't itchy. They removed the hanger for each dress after I tried it on so I had to stand in the dressing room with my arm out holding the dress until someone grabbed it before I could try on another. There were a few times they didn't notice me doing that so my bridal party had to grab the dress and I wanted them to be able to sit and enjoy the experience too. - My bridal party told me they felt uncomfortable because at one point the staff tried to get them to try on bridesmaid dresses, which wasn't why we were there (and one will be wearing a suit so they won't need a dress) read more
