Caring Companions has some experienced care givers. They also have inexperienced care givers. One…read morethinks that hiring an agency will provide care givers with special training. This is not the case. A caregiver was sent to my home who had just quit a job as a hairdresser? She was not experienced at all with dealing with the physically challenged. She allowed my loved one to slip out of the wheel chair. The paramedics were called. If your caregiver reports off, the agency often times does not have a back up care giver. Many times you will need to make other arrangements with your work because no care giver is available. One week I had four report offs! It made going to work on time a very stressful situation. Depending on the circumstances, they often change your starting time due to their monthly employee meeting. Sometimes, no prior warning is given so you are frantic trying to find a replacement in order to not be late for work. Other times they will call a few days prior to the beginning of the week and say that they don't have anyone available to fill the hours that you need. This is an agency who staff a lot of care givers. How could they not have anyone to send? This happened numerous times with me. Most often, they do not send the same care giver. Your loved one can't build a relationship with their care giver because it generally is not the same person. I don't know who makes out their schedule?

The front office staff has been amazing. And I can tell you the therapy, which is what I was sold on when Ally was in the hospital has been absolutely amazing. When I was in the hospital, I had problems walking. I was bed ridden, and wheelchair ridden for a number of months. After that, I came here and within six weeks of being here,Larry and Tom, both along with their stats, got me up and walking with ease and getting rid of my walker, still using my wheelchair and using my cane. I I am very blessed to be here and respect that I have for the care that I've been given is absolutely amazing. If you are looking for someplace to put your loved ones, I suggest this is a place to go. It's not always perfect but the folks that are here know how to take care of you and they take the best care of you that they can.

So many smiles and cheer they bring to the residents. The activities are varied enough that there is something for everyone. The location is wonderful with so much within walking distance. My father passed a year ago and our entire family including my Mom were treated so kindly. My mother has had to move up through the care levels and it always feels like they customize her care to best fit her specific needs. We also found that for the services offered, and quality of life, the price is very reasonable indeed! And the food quality at BLT is the best around. It's not your 'typical' institutional food. We had aides who went thru our personal drawers, ate our food, lied about the work they were doing when we weren't home & let my son sit for 4 hrs with no food or drink. I'm sorry, if they are being paid they are expected to care for my son. Several times they called me at work 1 hr before someone was to be there to meet my son & told me there wouldn't be an aide. Totally unacceptable!
