She immediately set out to resolve the problem and make sure our stay was still spectacular. She even went so far as to walk down and check on us at the cabins and make a point to reach out during our stay. I cannot say enough great things about Joanna, the front desk staff, the housekeeping, and wait staff -- our cabins were immaculate, and the wait staff were friendly and so helpful. Everyone was extremely professional and personable. Highly recommended!

The pools are pristine and inviting, the hot tub is glorious. The staff are incredible friendly and polite across the boards. The food is delicious - go for the pizza at The Salt Pond/Petoots! The interior decor has charm and character and is meant to evoke an age gone by. Our room could have used a little attention - a couple spots in the room needed a little paint or fixing a small gap in the tile around the grip bar in the shower. But it was clean and comfy! Perfect for 3-4 guests.

Being off the beaten path, it's easy to forget about life in the "real world." It was so quiet and peaceful; you only hear the sounds and see the sights of nature that have been lost in far too many places. I stayed in the Farmhouse Inn, the main house of the resort. It was clean, tastefully designed and well-furnished. I was the only one staying in this space, so again, it was very quiet. I spent a few hours outside in the evening chatting with a few other guests who were staying on the grounds. We sat out on the patio area during this time, and even decided to have our dinner there, as the weather was beautiful. While we ate, several deer payed a visit to the grounds to get dinner for themselves. Speaking of dinner, it was fantastic. I had a fresh salad, that I can only assume came from the organic garden on the grounds. Additionally, I had a vegetable lasagna and finished my meal with some delicious apple cake. Since I was leaving early the next morning for work, a breakfast basket was prepared for me with a variety of baked goods, orange juice, fruit, and a serving of the best baked oatmeal I ever had. Gail and Gary, the owners, were fantastic as well. They were extremely helpful from booking through my checkout. There were several emails sent to me prior to my visit with all the directions and information I needed to know for my arrival. Since I was arriving during their off hours, they prepared a binder for me that got me to my room and settled in until we had a chance to meet later in the evening. If you are interested in connecting with the outside world during your stay, cell service is spotty. I was told that only some cell service work there. However, there is a public phone that anyone can access if needed at no cost. In addition, the Farmhouse Inn has wifi. I don't believe this is true for all the outer houses. But since you come by the Farmhouse for meals, and any other time you want to, it shouldn't be an inconvenience. Overall, I have absolutely no complaints. I would HIGHLY reccomend this place if you're in the area.

The cabins are all new and build on site. They are all well maintained and very accommodating. The entire resort is clean, quite, and relaxing. You have you privacy when you want it. All the cabins and RV site face the Bluestone River. So when you have ridden all day you can sit back on your picnic table by the fire and relax. While we were there there were three Owls were around us and that morning while sitting outside three deer just walked out of the woods across the river less than 50 yards from us. They just sat there drinking water and eating from the river bank. It was so peaceful. Now.... for me... The best characteristic of this ATV resort is Donna's cooking. Its all fresh prepared home made meals. The breakfast was great.... The hamburgers were great.... But the suppers...... No matter how far away we rode during the day we made SURE we were back in time for supper. Meatloaf and mash potato's on one night, and the next night was roast with cornbread. When we first arrived they had everything in order and it took less than five minutes to get checked in. Their cabins have key less entry systems so you don't have to worry about keeping up with room keys. The shower NEVER ran out of hot water. Kerig in the room with free coffee and coffee in the store. They have a gas pump on site and the prices were the same or close the regular gas station price. They even gave us their contact numbers and assured us that if we had trouble on the trails they would come help any way they could. From now on.... anytime I ride the Hatfield and McCoy trails I will stay at The Mud Pit ATV Resort.

Our room smelled so strongly of over scented cleaning solution that I thought it was going to trigger an asthma attack. The headboards had a visible layer of dust on the front surface and there was a heavy layer of dust along the floor in front of the baseboards and window sills. The mini-split was dirty. On Saturday night, they took the elevator out of service at 11pm because they were having the floor stripped. I had to walk up four flights to get to my room. Then, the breakfast on Sunday was under stocked with only 3 yogurts in the fridge, the sterno had gone out, and the water in the carafe for making instant oatmeal was cold. There were some weird cheese and egg "omelets" that were not made in house. We ended up going across the street. This may be called a historic boutique hotel, but it misses the mark by a long shot. We still had a twenty-minute drive to the lodge when we reached the North gate. The drive was pretty, though, and passed quickly. The circular driveway in front of the lodge was clogged with cars, forcing us to park down the road a bit. No one was around to welcome us, and finding someone took us a bit. Once we did, the valets quickly took care of us, and we were checked in. Our room on the second floor overlooked the 18th green and a valley on the backside of the lodge. It was terrific: large and spacious, with lots of wood and chunky lodge-style furnishings. The bathroom was huge, with a large tub, separate shower, and his-and-hers sinks. The minibar came stocked with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and some snacks. While staying here, we enjoyed their astronomy presentation at the top of the silo, walking on several trails through the nearby woods, time in the spa, and making smores out back by the fire pit in the evening with the other guests. There was a special cocktail hour with apps and drinks, and a chance to talk to some of the local providers of food and items to the hotel. They do an excellent job of using local sources for the lodge. Dining was top notch, except at the Stables family-style restaurant. The Stables was a disappointment. Our other meals though in the lodge were top notch. The staff at Primland is the best, and they are what make this place so special. I especially appreciate Chad who was at the parking deck for shuttling folks around. He was especially helpful. My spa facial was delicious and completed by Rita who has magic hands. Ask for RITA!!! Definitely sign up for watching the sky with their telescope. That was cool on a clear night. Now the bad - Toilet paper was not soft. I spent a lot of money there over 4 days. Need soft paper. Food was good but pricey. $125/dinner at least just for the meal and then include drinks!!!! Yikes, They are in a rebuilding phase. Next summer will be much better when their new outdoor pool will be open. Currently, only have an indoor pool currently with lots of chlorine in the hot tub that burned my eyes. That was a bummer. Spa was good as mentioned above but the robes were all tattered. That was a shame. Maybe next summer they will buy new robes for spa with everything else they are doing. Beds were great but need to be flipped since they slope to the left as people wear them down getting out of them. Over all cost for 4 days was in the multi thousand dollar range. Not enough to do for that much to be spent. Won't be going back.
