A little out of the way, but this joint has the best hard ciders I've tried. The shop was sort of sad but the woman running the bar made the entire experience a real delight. Dave the owner of Mayer's Cider Mill hasn't paid our invoice on drums of grape concentrate since May 2025 with constant delay tactics and excuses. Hasn't even sent us $1. I asked Dave several times for payment updates and request a modest but regular payment plan on a weekly basis. I was also told by 3 other vendors in the tri state area that Dave is also past due 8+ months on their invoices. Since last year, Dave has emailed and texted me 17 times false information including "check is in the mail", "check will be sent out this week". It's all in writing. How can you support a business who doesn't pay their vendors? I am a proud small business owner who supports locals business across the country. Dave, do the right thing and pay us what we shipped you a year ago. It's not ok to steal and think you can get away with it. read more

This place seems like it has just given up. Bought donuts, all stale, the apples in the bin were soft and mushy and the shelves practically empty. The cider was good. They are trying to sell the property unsuccessfully as it's been on the market a few months. Sad. read more

They were out of a bunch of things for our flight. I did use a Groupon. The place was pretty dingy and didn't feel clean or inviting inside or out. The ciders were delicious. A detracting element was the mouse feces in the store. The cider battered fish fry sounds so good but the cleanliness totally makes me not want to eat anything from there. read more

So, I'm giving this place a three stars because of the customer service. The last three time I've been there, I've had to wait 10+ minutes for someone to come help me. And two times I had to actually call the business, it would ring out back and someone would come help me. They seemed unbothered by this at the time and it seemed strange. I hope they get an employee to run the front and man the bar because this business suffers from the customer service. But let me tell you what, the wine and cider thy make is absolutely fantastic. Will never ever go back. I first walked in and wasn't even sure the place was open. I didn't see any staff or anyone else there. I waited at least 10 minutes before I was even helped. The lady that helped me was very pleasant and welcoming. But that was the only good part of my experience. Aside from the lovely lady everything else wasn't worth the visit. I decided to do a tasty. The selection was very measly and the wines were mediocre (not worth a tasting). I also decided to stop by at the market to get some cider and donuts. The donuts were horrible. They were as hard as a rock like they were sitting for days. I wanted to get a cookie but decided not as the frosting was dry and only some of the trays were covered. As for the cider... it was not the best. I just should've stopped at the other market down the street that was actually busy. Now I know never to try somewhere new. read more

I took a handicap friend to Mayer's in Webster for a tasting and lunch. When we arrived it appeared the parking lot was empty. As someone was painting the front of the building, I asked if it was open. We went around the side and found the manager, who said it was closed. I told him I had driven a long ways, and I had that morning looked on the Web. and it said it was open. I had also called, which he asked if I had, and told him a voice said the lines were busy. He said we are only open on certain days. Upon leaving I noticed a sign on the front door that said "OPEN". I rechecked the web. on returning home that evening and It said it was open and everyday of the week. Actually being a nice day we would have chosen to eat on the porch, but noticed it was extremely dirty and not where anyone would choose to sit and eat. There are several web. sites up on this winery. So I guess they need to take down the ones that are no longer accurate. As a home winemaker I was buying my supplies from Mayer's. But, I recently went there to purchase potassium metabisulfite and was surprised by the price increase to $18.95/lb. I assumed that it was higher everywhere as prices are rising. I got home and looked it up at other online suppliers and I could have bought it for $4.99 at Midwest supply plus shipping $6.00. I contacted Mayer's to see what was up and they said they would look into it, but never did follow up. 11/11/13 Update, after numerous emails, David Bower said it was a mistake then finally came to my home and returned $11. read more

We came to the Lake Ontario Winery tasting room to taste the wines and the owner Dave was in and gave us a tour of the remodeled bar area before it opened. They are going to have a pizza oven, fudge/donut shop, and cider/wine bar. It looks awesome! He gave us an in depth tasting of most of their wines and we loved all of them. This place has been around forever and until recently was known as one of several apple cider mills in Webster. They changed things around a bit but kept their cider and bakery. After a few years of moving stuff around, it seems Mayer's has been making a comeback of late. The Apple Cherry Smash cider is unique and amazing. Their regular cider is fantastic and their fried cakes and baked goods are great. The day before thanksgiving my brother wanted Cherry pie. Not sure where to look I remembered getting a frozen pie from Mayer's that was pretty good a few years back. When I called, the employee offered to bake a fresh pie. Let me tell you....this pie was so good. The cherries were tart but rich and the crust had a buttery sweetness to it you can't get from a default pie at a place like Wegmans. The only reason we don't have a pic is because we ate it so fast. We will definitely come back for pies in the future. read more

I used a groupon for this place over the weekend. Overall the groupon was a good deal but the place was kind of meh. Driving there we passed a different little farm that was jamming with cars and people and when we arrived here we were only the third car in the parking lot. It seemed like a run down shed that they filled with some baskets of apples and donuts. Only two people were working there and one just kind of walked away when we went up to the counter. The other was finishing up with a very confused customer so that took a little bit. When she was helping us we were gettings donuts and she said "oh good because I can't get him to make anymore donuts until we get rid of these." We were then questioning the age of these donuts...alothough they tasted good, maybe implying we were getting old donuts was not a great selling point. Probably won't come back here again. read more

Great experience with cider/wine tasting on-site during our vacation to western NY. Enjoyed almost all of their products and creations so we purchased a case (variety pack). Offered to supply Vino Corporation or Mayer's with an RMA to ship our purchases back to Texas. We were informed by their Rep - they had great shippers and not to worry about receiving our products. Purchases never made it to Texas and only received Lip Svc from these folks since. I will get it in the mail next week has been their "Monthly Motto"! Don't bother trying to contact them using the number they provided to Square - that line goes straight to voicemail. Almost like they are screening their calls? More than 3 months has pasted - no tracking number, no phone calls, no products, and no emails explaining the delay! read more

This Place has a rustic look which I love. They are friendly. I've been getting Sweet Apple Cider there and nowhere else. It's to die for. Close your eyes and take a gulp. Ahhhh. That sooo good. I bought (2) Groupons, each good for (1) Gallon of Cider, (1) Dozen Donuts, (1) Pie, and (5) Decorative Gords. The Groupon stated that the items had a total value of $35.95.... When we went to Mayers (first time we have ever been there and last time we will ever go) We were informed that we were required to pay an additional $2.85 for each Groupon to cover "sales tax" on $35.95....now this has never happened with any other groupon before, but we figured "okay, maybe it's different here for some reason" and we just paid it....however the actual full price of the items was ONLY $24.95 RETAIL, WHICH INCLUDED SALES TAX ($8.00 for Dozen Donuts, $6.00 for gallon of cider, $5.00 for 5 tiny decirative gords, and $5.95 for a prepackaged, frozen personal 6" pie EQUALING A TOTAL OF $24.95, NOT 35.95 (The "pies" are a real rip off too- there was no choice of flavor and the cheap 6" frozen pies are not even labeled with ingredients even though they are being sold on the retail market) To sum it up: This Groupon is a total joke...the "pie" you get is a prepacked, frozen, 6" personal pie...no flavor choice, the "decorative gords" are all damaged, rotted and or broken, the donuts are so GREASY the oil literally drips out of them, AND the owners made us pay an additional $2.85 in order to redeem each groupon .... We threw the donuts out, tossed the cheap frozen pies in the back of our freezer, and ended up 2 gallons of average tasting cider for $34.00....WHAT A RIP OFF!!! I will NEVER BE back to Mayer's Cider Mill again and I highly recommend going elsewhere! read more
