Service was great, but the food was subpar the night we came. I had the Broiled Cajun Fish Fry. I found it to be lacking the spice / heat I would expect. The pasta was cooked well and the lemon sauce paired with it was good. The Ceasar chicken salad was not what I expected. It ended up being pieces of a fried chicken cutlet, but the drenched the salad in the dressing and it looked more like a soup than a salad because of how much dressing was used. It must off have been an off night for food, because usually the food is on point. Will definitely still go back, but hoping we don't have a repeat performance. read more

Went for music. Music was great. Unfortunately I can not say the same about the food. I ordered a pizza and they say it's wood fired. It was not. It seemed like a shell with cheap toppings. Not worth the price for sure. I will not be getting the pizza again. Some people there got other food that looked ok but it's expensive. My pizza and drink came to over $35 bucks and that was before tip. Waitress was nice and efficient. Just not worth the price. read more

A bit out of the way from Buffalo but so well worth the ride. we have a New York wine card and there are over 50 wineries, distilleries and breweries to visit. This was our 2nd road trip. and they keep getting better each time. Reason we chose this one was a bistro. Food to soak up the wine tasting for driving home. We started with our wines. With our card we got 3 tastings each but there was so much too choose from. They have their dry and sweet but also the Pirate collection. We chose one sweet and 2 pirate wines. We ended up buying diamond so good and black pearl. Both on the sweet side. Then we had some lunch. It is a small seating area with a fire place. The menu is pretty extensive starters, panini, pizza and burgers. We started with a soup tomato creamy with avocado. It was full of flavor and creamy. We ordered buffalo chicken quesadilla and a BLT pizza woodfire. Waiting for food but the wait was worth it. We didn't mind the wait as they had a craft show going on and they did a raffle while we were there. The food was exceptional. We weren't expecting much because the winery goal is their wine but food was made with just as much care. If out this way it's a must do! Wine and food! We came here for a blueberry and bluegrass festival but when we showed up we realized that they moved the date due to the weather. While we were there the place looked nice so we decided to stay for a bit. We had a great experience. The owner did our wine tasting which was pretty good and informative. He was very friendly. We enjoyed the wine. It was a generous amount of wine too. Or favorite read the blueberry and the dry Concord. Also when he mixed a Belgium beer with the blueberry wine. We also got foods which was tasty but not incredible. We sat outside which was very nice and quiet. The service was good and refilled our water whenever needed without asking. This place is a hidden gem on the border of Hilton and Hamlin. Had the opportunity to meet with the owner, who was super friendly and hospitable. He was able to recommend a few of their creations that were ostensibly out of this world. They also had some treats that were extremely delectable. This spot is bigger than it looks, with more to offer than you'd realize at first glance. I will be back soon to try more wines and more of the treats! read more

This review is really for one of the classes offered here. I would definitely return to try the food menu and have a cider or 2. This place is seriously way out in the country! Way out in Hilton, it is quite rural. My hubs and I went to a mozzarella making class here (purchased on Groupon) and it was super fun. It was actually a demo, you watch, ask questions and are sent home with a little kit to make your own. Prior to the demo, the owner took the group to the bar to sample a bunch of wines, ciders, and beer that are made here. Truth be told, I am not a huge fan of NYS wines, I find them way too sweet. That being said, I did enjoy some of their "drier" styles. Cider here was quite excellent, if you like cider. After having our tasting, we had our demo while being served a very nice charcuterie plate (you are also able to pick out a bottle of wine/cider to enjoy or brink home). Fun afternoon. read more

Whether you're visiting in the summer and sitting in the patio or inside snuggled up next to the fire Mayers has good food, great prices and warm hearted people running the winery/restaurant. My only complaint is that there are not too many choices in vegetarian/vegan options. But they are always willing to tweak a dish as requested to fit dietary desires. read more

I would put 0 star if I could. I ordered 2 enolmatic bottle fillers on 12/15/21 for $578. It's been 17 months and i still haven't receive them or a refund. I call this theft. I talked to someone who never gives his name and he said multiple times he will send them and they will lose money because they are now more money to buy. Who's fault is that. He said he is really busy. Come on. He is such a liar. Well he told me last time they will be sent to me by 4/15/23. Of course another lie. If you want to talk to the biggest liar ever call 815-368-8313. If you deal with this winery and you called this number you know you are going to get screwed. Can't say enough how disappointed I am. Very dirty.. stay cats running out of doors while entering. The server was not knowledgeable at all, and didn't offer to get information she didn't know. Dave and his team are welcoming and engaging, eVen when their short staffed because of COVID. Dave loves what he does and it shows. I've personally called him on his cell and he always answers, when he could just redirect my call. We've taken classes with Dave, gone for events, dined in and have done take out from the Bistro. We attended a Mozzarella cheese making demo, but got lots more. We were first treated to a wine and cider tasting at the bar by the owner, who is justifiably proud of his craft. Then each couple could choose a bottle to drink in the party room where we were first served with generous fruit and cheese trays to consume with our wine. We were then shown the process of making a batch of cheese and got to sample a bite before it went into the kitchen to be used on our flatbread dinners. All was done so well and personalized and we were given a vital ingredient packet to take home. Would definitely recommend as a night out for a couple or group. Reasonable cost for what you get: tasting/cheese tray/demo/pizza/kit and instructions. Wines were available for purchase, but no pressure to buy. read more

Very disappointing. Stopped out with my family for a bite to eat. We have always enjoyed the paninis and pizzas here. We didn't have to wait long for someone to get us a table. Food took a while to come out. While we waited we took a walk over to the gift shop next door. The girl running it was extremely rude and had an attitude. My father decided to go back to our table. I wasn't all that impressed with the shop or the woman claiming to be the owner. We were very uncomfortable with the situation as the owner of the shop stood near the bar talking very loud. Held my sisters bridal shower here. The staff were beyond attentive and kept us updated the entire time. The add-on mimosa bar was a hit with fresh juices and fresh fruit garnishes. When a champagne bottle was empty, they were on it and immediately brought out a new one. The food-excellent. Quiches, roasted chicken, fresh fruit, potatoes, all made right there and very good. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. They also offered a wide variety of pastry's and breakfast breads. The space was very clean, lots of windows and natural light over looking the vineyard. I went here a few years ago just to check it out. Upon entering, my fiance and I were IMMEDIATELY approached by the owner, asking us if this is our first time here, which it was. Upon learning this, he "took us under his wing." We were offered wine samples to which we declined, and also a complimentary piece of disgusting pizza to try. Instead of looking around at our own free will, we were ushered to a seating area and given a menu to look at. The owner was still talking and standing unbelievably close to me while I was reviewing their menu. He literally said we could have a tour of the upstairs, and that he would show us "the pirate room", whatever that is. I kid you not when I say that he put his hand on my shoulder and started rubbing it. I have never been that uncomfortable. My fiance had a few choice words for him and as we were leaving he told an employee that his boss is a pervert to which he replied "I know." How this place stays in business is beyond me. **Note: Literally an hour after this review was posted, a woman contacted me from the winery and tried to convince me that I was "referring to an old employee that used to pretend he was the owner" and that I "need to take down my review". My husband and I walked in and there were 2 workers and they just stared at us..... so we asked if we could get a tasting menu and they said they didn't have one and to just look at the wall of wine....... Then they seated us outside before we said what we wanted and she just asked if we liked dry or sweet and they'd bring us a flight.... One of my favorite places to go. Charming and cozy atmosphere. The fireplace adds to the charm. Dave the owner is fantastic. He's the type of person who makes you feel right at home as if you were talking to an old friend. The wines and ciders are terrific. The food is very good. They have an apple and cheese pizza that is out of this world. Dave took us on a tour of the expansion and it is going to be beautiful. I can hardly wait until that part is open. You can tell that Dave put his heart and soul into this place. If you are planning a wedding in the future you may want to visit Mayers Lake Ontario Winery. There is going to be rooms upstairs for the bride and groom to get ready before the ceremony. Cabins are being built if you want to stay overnight. I can hardly wait to go back again for the apple and cheese pizza and delicious wine. read more

Very disappointing experience. Ordered pretzels with our drinks due to current COVID requirements. They were microwaved, mushy and unappetizing. Our wine slushees were also a disappointment. Our server, though friendly, was new, and very poorly trained. Any good, sever with experience would question why a table would leave most of their food and drink untouched. This was not the case. Came here for the steak roast with two old friends to meet two new friends. Glad to see that it was handicapped accessible with plenty of parking. Impressed that our table was actually reserved. Wait staff was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Started off with French onion soup which was good. Steak was charcoaled medium rare and was done to perfection. Grilled veggies were really tasty and the baked potato was huge. The meal was topped off by an excellent bottle of wine. We had a great time and were well taken care of. Our waitress was super attentive to our needs and kept us well supplied with bread. While this was an Special Event menu, I am eager to try their normal "Bistro" menu. read more

I had a bridal shower here. The staff yelled at my grandmother, they were rude when asking people to move their cars because "they should have known", even though there were no signs and limited parking. The room wasn't ready when we were told it would be the night before. There was an older man with grey hair who came and slammed the doors shut. All around an awful experience. Then our flowers on our cake where missed placed. It was very unorganized, we were charged more for tasting, people behind the counter were not consistent with tasting. I was the bride and only got three. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. IT COMPLETELY RUINED MY DAY. absolutely awful and awful costumer service. read more

I absolutely adore this place! Stopped by here during a summer visit from NYC. I've been to several wineries throughout the country and am a lover of wine. I can say hands down that this is some of the best wine I've tasted (and for around 11 dollars a bottle it's superb). The staff members, Lorraine and Jasmine, were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting was very enjoyable. They have a wide range of wines (and ciders too). I was particularly fond of their Pirate wine line (sweet and fruity flavors). The grounds on the location were beautiful, so beautiful that I decided to stay and eat. The menu was great. The food was also wonderful and the sausage, baguette, and cheese plate was reasonably priced, delicious, and hearty. I will make the 6 hour trip from NYC just to visit here again. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Thank you for this wonderful experience. read more

This winery is a gem hidden away in Hilton... I went there over the summer with some friends, and had the best paninis I've ever tasted. The staff was kind and courteous, and the owner ensured it by coming to our table out on the patio to make sure everything was all right. We also did a wine tasting, and the bartender really knew her stuff... I felt very knowledgeable about wines after we left, and also picked up a couple bottles of great wine! The only reason I am giving them 1 star is for the food. We held my daughter's bridal shower here. We had arranged to set up the night before and when we arrived the only staff working had no idea we were coming and the tables were not ready for us. The staff said she was told we were setting up in the morning. We went ahead and set up on our own (putting on table clothes, etc) and overheard the staff (Jazz) complaining on the phone to Lorraine that we were there. We let that go. The day of the shower the room was hot because they had not turned the AC on in time for it to adequately cool. The owner was short and borderline rude. We paid for tastings and some guests got more than 4 and others not. They lost the flowers from the cake so I have to pay the bakery for them. At one point there was a lull in calling up tables to eat so my daughter (the bride) told a table they could go up and the server sent them back to their table! They were disorganized and we saw VERY FEW smiles from the staff while we were there. We helped clean up and were more friendly to the staff and owner than they were to us. The only positive was that the food was delicious but not worth the rude treatment. We felt like we were bothering them anytime we asked a question! Will definitely not recommend this winery and will no longer even go there after how we were treated. It was not even a busy day for the winery and we felt like we were in the way and bothering the owner. read more

Mozzarella class beware! Wonder WHY they are advertising in your living social, groupon and amazon local almost daily? You may not want to know especially if you have eaten there or drank the wine. Unless of course you were one of lucky ones who got the wine that was bought from a liquor store and poured into their wine bottles. (employees do have photos on their cell phones of this happening) Why do they shut down the kitchen when the dept. of health arrives and say they have no kitchen. Do you like maggot larva in your wine from the fly er uhm... situation? Now here is the the obvious. Groupons, living socials etc are SUPPOSED to be HALF OFF regular offered items/services etc. This establishment has no regular priced mozzarella class. You are all getting screwed and they are playing you as fools. Buy a mozzarella making kit online from amazon with FRESH CLEAN supplies that you buy from the store. And buy a bottle of wine and have a girls night or couples night in. Your intestines will thank you as will your integrity. Spend your money where there are scrupulous business practices. ( and where d o h safety laws are followed) Check travel pages on this place too there are many unhappy customers. Just go somewhere nice. read more
