In the fall the leaves litter the ground and makes for fun boot stomping. There are a couple stone tables with benches near the playground, a full basketball court, and a water fountain with two spouts (one accommodates smaller kids). My family and I walk the perimeter with our fur boy Reiker. We take care to pick up after him but I have noticed many pet owners are not doing the same =( Maybe if the city provided poop bags it may help with all that. In the evenings during soccer season, many teams are here practicing and families are sprawled on the grassy edge. Parking can get very tricky but usually there is enough right off Northgate to handle the volume of visitors. Be careful when crossing over, lots of cars tend to speed past the park. In the summers, Manteca Unified School District has their Nutrition Education department host free lunches and even a BBQ (check website for schedules & times). We don't usually make much of an effort to arrive for lunch but the few times we did it was nice to see the neighborhood outside enjoying picnic lunches under the trees. Rainy season is my favorite; the park catches water and we enjoy a community lake for a few days. I've stopped to pull over and take photos or watch kids boogie boarding on the water. Some friends have even taken their kayak out for a quick dip. If you happen to be in the area after the next storm and you see folks on a raft, it may just be us!

The park is called Lathrop Landing Community Park, but most people just refer to it as Lathrop PD Park. (Located next to PD) This park has everything. Seriously, everything! - multiple picnic areas with shade - two tennis courts - two basketball courts -big grass fields - really cool splash pad area with water coming out of the ground, overhead sprinklers, and they all kind of rotate, so different things are happening at different times. Also has a little water play table area. It's one of the more impressive splash pads that I've seen at a community park. - individual bathroom stalls - rinse off showers (yes, really!) - xylophones and other musical equipment - exercise equipment throughout - slides going down the hill - very impressive separate play areas, one for the younger kids and one for older kids. The one for older kids has a ramp, so it's ADA accessible. - baby swings - adult swings, and even a handicapped swing - A merry-go-round - four-person teeter-totter - rope climbing course - ample seating & trash cans The whole playground area is a soft solid foam surface, so there's no messy sand or wood chips or anything like that. This park literally has it ALL. We were super impressed by all the features they added and it's an extremely impressive playground. It's definitely a new favorite for us. The only negative things I had to say is that the sun shades shift so many of the picnic tables weren't shaded at times of the day. They have lots of trees planted but they're all young and not providing shade yet. The picnic areas will be nice ones those grow a little! The grass patch next to the splash pad was also flooding and a muddy mess. The city is going to have to do something about that, it was a bit of a hazard. Flooding over the sidewalk and kids slipping in mud. (Note: we went by twice. This was only an issue when the park was busy and the splash pad was getting a lot of use) It was also windy both times we visited. Not sure if it's just a windy week, or windy area... tbd! Just bring a hat or hair tie with you just in case!

This was the first of many parks I visited and I was there for barely a few minutes but I wanted to leave. Many teenage kids here had no respect for personal space and would walk up to my boyfriend and I and not interact with us...kept smiling weirdly too...creeped us out. I got one picture of us there and left. It was also super windy the day I went; not sure about the time of day but I went to other parks that day and none of which was as windy as this park.
