We were also told the owner/event manager would be on hand for help the day of. She seemed to forget who I was after meeting with me multiple times, but no biggie. I'm sure she meets lots of people. What was really not okay was that when we showed up to set up our event, the area was NOT cleaned and there was nobody to be found. There was dust and dirt everywhere that took an hour to clean before even being able to set up, a gross dead bug graveyard in the sitting area floor, it smelled musty, and overall was just not up to the standard they advertised. The owner nor any staff showed up at any point. We were not greeted, we were not helped, and it was just kind of a "okay good luck" situation. Also, the "AC" was on 75 on a hot May day. After paying the second half of the $550 fee, I didn't hear from the event manager other than a text asking what time I'd be in. Afterwards, nobody checked on us or the space. Never even heard from them to get a "thank you for renting our space" or "I'm sorry I wasn't available today"... To pay $550, you'd expect to get what you pay for. As a local, I will NOT be renting there for any other party I host nor trying out their B&B if the service is anything like this experience has been. Next time, we'll pay $550 for a nicer place on 151.

The B&B's main room and kitchen area are uncannily accurate replicas of the interior of the Hollywood set house. The B&B has several themed rooms each with a private bath. There is also a small gift shop with cool memorabilia for sale. Carol saved the Hamner house and the legacy of Earl Hamner, Jr. -- I had to give it 5 stars but if I could, I would give it 10! We never ran into the owner until just before leaving on the second day, but felt at home the whole time. We will definitly be back again the next time we are in the area, it is definitley a home away from home kind of place and was a great value for quality of accomodations. A 1910 home with grand rooms, high ceilings and filled with charm you will never get from a corporate chain. We were served coffee, tea, 4 different juices, fresh baked pastries, quiche, yogurt, bacon and more bacon. We felt like royalty. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. We were only in town for one day. The Inn on the Avenues was an amazing stay and we whole heartedly recommend you choose this place over any hotel/motel. The price was great, food was delicious, the owner was as kind as could be and it was an unforgettable stop on our vacation. We look forward to our next stay here.

Parking was a breeze, purchasing tickets was easy, and we were able to shop in every single room of the Inn, which also essentially doubled as a tour. The rooms were all lovely and the Inn was the perfect backdrop for shopping. I even tried a sample of their holiday tea (and subsequently bought some). One of the owners was dolling out the samples and it was nice to chat with him. You could tell he and his wife put a lot of love into their Inn. I wouldn't hesitate to return for other events and will keep this spot in mind for future visitors looking for a B&B experience as well.

We had reservations to stay at a different B&B in Scottsville but due to an unfortunate situation we found ourselves looking for alternate arrangements. While I was on the cell phone checking for a place my wife ran across The Chester and called them. She was smiling from the moment that she spoke with them on the phone which, considering our frame of mind, was a great start. We got to this place which was absolutely gorgeous. The Inn was spacious, clean, very tastefully decorated and painted, and smelled like roses and family. We were warmly greeted by Jean who showed us the rooms and was accommodating from the get go. She helped us plan dinner and set up a late wine tasting trip, as well as offered to make dinner for us the evening after. The dinner was fantastic with Jean and Craig pampering us with delicious food, wine and dessert. If you have the opportunity to have dinner with them ask her for the orange squash soup and the rosemary pork...WOW! The breakfasts too were amazing!! We offered Jean to buy our own bacon/sausage since my wife does not eat nitrates (migraines). She told us not to worry about it and she will figure it out. The first day she served a fantastic veggie quiche (sorry if I am not using the right term) with fresh juice and french pressed coffee. The second day french toast with NITRATE FREE apple sausages! Our rooms were promptly made every day and Craig made sure to provide turned down service which was a very nice detail. Oh yeah, we got to meet the grand baby and also the Inn mascot, Trixie, who is a sweet little dog with the best personality. One of the best B&B experiences we've had period! We will be back!!

I would not recommend Prospect Hill Inn as a wedding venue…read more My daughter chose this venue because we were repeatedly told that if we communicated our wishes ahead of time, everything would be handled and we could simply relax and enjoy the wedding day. Unfortunately, our experience was the exact opposite. Upon arrival, we had to carry all of our belongings and wedding items down paths to the cabins ourselves. Although golf carts were available on the property, no assistance was offered. Prior to the wedding, we provided decorations and special charms that were to be attached to my daughter's bouquet in memory of grandparents who had passed away. We were assured that everything would be taken care of. On the morning of the wedding, we were asked when the bouquet was needed and stated 4:00 p.m. for pictures. By 4:15 p.m., we had received no communication. Multiple texts to the owner went unanswered. When I finally reached her by phone, she was not even on the property and said she would not be back for another 30 minutes. The wedding was scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. I ended up locating the bouquet myself. The memorial charms had not been attached, and no one knew where they were. At 5:00 p.m., the owner still had not arrived, and no staff member seemed to know what was happening or what needed to be done. Our family was left coordinating the wedding ourselves. The ceremony was delayed until 5:30 p.m., which affected photography since the photographer was only contracted for a limited amount of time. To make matters worse, when it was time for the couple's first dance, the owner told my daughter that she knew nothing about it, despite it being included in the contract and paid for as part of the package. We were then rushed through photos because dinner was scheduled for 7:00 p.m., even though many of the delays stemmed from the lack of coordination earlier in the day. The owner also interrupted the couple's send-off over a pen issue that could have been handled later. The problems continued throughout our stay. The air conditioning in our cabin failed on the final night, leaving us in uncomfortable temperatures above 80 degrees. When we politely shared our concerns before leaving, hoping for an explanation or apology, none was offered. Instead, responsibility was shifted back onto us. We were also owed a credit on our account. Initially, we were told it could not be refunded because the original card used for booking had been closed. After considerable discussion, a cash refund was finally offered. However, when my daughter picked it up, it was $21 short. We were told this was for breakfast-in-bed delivery for the newlyweds, despite previously being told that this was included in the wedding package. Perhaps most disappointing of all, when the newlyweds checked out, the owner would not speak with them. This was a weekend that should have been focused on celebrating my daughter's wedding. Instead, we spent much of it dealing with issues that we had specifically been assured would be handled by the venue. We left feeling disappointed, stressed, and unsupported.

Open to the public it can get a little busy but they always took good care of me. The menu wasn't extensive but the food was far better than any hotel breakfast I've had recently.
