What a gem! We were in Dripping to run some errands on a Tuesday morning and had to find a way to spend 30 minutes so we stumbled across Mazama. Man am I glad that we did! It is the cutest little coffee shop with ample seating inside and out. There is street parking available, which was easy enough to find on a Tuesday morning and also a lot in the back. I was with my 2 kids so we ordered a sugar cookie, mango + pear smoothie, croissant (with ham, egg, and swiss cheese), and I got myself their seasonal speciality (blackberry matcha). Everything was so delicious! To no surprise, my kids scarfed down the cookie to which I can only assume was delicious. I did get to try a bite of the ham, egg, and swiss croissant and it was delicious. The croissant was perfectly flakey! The smoothie tasted super fresh. However, the star of the show was definitely the iced blackberry matcha latte. What a unique and delicious flavor! A tad on the sweet side for me so in the future, I might ask for half sweet; but this will have to be stop whenever we are in the area. read more

Excellent coffee here. My partner ordered a hot lavender latte while I ordered a hot vanilla latte, both with oat milk. Our drinks were served piping hot, and had a strong, robust and delicious flavor. The chocolate chip banana bread left much to be desired. It was very dense and served cold. In retrospect I should've asked if they could warm it up - I'd recommend asking for any of their pastries as otherwise it's served cold. I would have appreciated it if they proactively offered this option. The space is big and comfortable to work in, socialize, or have some quality "me" time. read more

Came in while waiting on my lunch order right down the street. I wanted a shaken espresso which isnt on the menu but they said they can make. However upon further discussion I went with one of the other drinks they offer which also wasn't on the main menu, a atomic blondie. It was perfect, not too sweet and just the right amount of cream vs espresso! large outdoor patio and a quite room off to the side. They sell some homemade syrups and fresh baked goods! First of all, it's got the perfect facade, the old building is the most charming thing. Inside it's wood and metal, warm and inviting but not cluttered, well lit, really lovely. There's a large patio, and a side room with plenty of seating. The Betty White latte was so, so good. The staff were very friendly. Nothing more to ask for. read more

I looked at the teen working the register silently for a moment then prompted: 'Ok make more.'. I got an annoyed look as I then said:' I'll wait over there.'. I was polite. I waited awhile more. I forgot to mention in my previous review that they are dog-friendly. My pup loves going with me and sitting outside on the patio while I enjoy my coffee and lunch and/or dessert. Their breakfast items sound delicious, too, but I usually don't get there early enough for those. read more

Food was pretty good. I unfortunately forgot to take photos before I ate it, but my spinach frittata was very good and so was the strawberry baked oat bar. I got a small cappuccino and it was really good as well. My mom throughly enjoyed her mocha and ham, egg, and cheese croissant. They had flood relief cookies from Kerrville and other areas in the hill country impacted by the floods, which was very kind of them, so my mom bought all of them when we went! Their other baked good looked great that I would totally try. Service was great. The guy across the counter was very friendly. Ambiance is great and very nice. I've never left a review before, but after multiple experiences, I felt it was necessary to share. Unfortunately, the service has consistently been disappointing. When you walk in, there's no acknowledgment from the staff, who are often engaged in conversations with each other rather than greeting customers or checking in on those waiting (especially the blonde guy who seems more focused on chatting than helping customers.) On several occasions, I've stood there without anyone asking if I had been helped or needed anything. Even after asking about my drink, I've been told it would be "right up," yet no one makes any effort to actually prepare it. It's frustrating to watch staff hold drinks in hand and continuing to laugh and talk, while customers are clearly waiting for them to hand over their order. It's especially disappointing because the coffee itself is excellent and one of my favorites. However, if you're in any sort of rush or expecting attentive service, this may not be the place for you. read more

Multiple times we have placed online orders, show up 15 minutes later to pick up our order and they haven't even started making the drinks yet. The order is printed out but they will not start making it until the time on the order time is up. I went inside and watched everyone order after me get served then they decided to make our drink order. The owner needs to understand that the whole point of an online order is to place in advance so you don't have to wait when you get there. This is probably the only boutique coffee shop in DS, so they do get a bit busy. The only competition is the Starbucks up the road so be prepared for a slight parking crunch on weekends. There's an auxillery seating area inside and outside to go with a couple of bench seats in the main hall. Standard coffe shop vibe with plenty of wood tones and moody lighting. I liked the streamlined menu, there's a chalk board to show seasonal specials and they offer both baked goods that look house made and some other hot items that look tasty. Coffe itself was pleasant, wasn't scalding hot when I got it and the level of caffeine didn't give me the jitters. Went with their house made Cinnamon Brown Sugar Latte in both hot and iced variety for my wife. Loved that it wasn't too sweet either. Mazama is a classic local coffee shop, with great service and excellent results. I use it with great frequency for meetings and am never disappointed. Excellent results with coffee orders, including some exotic requests. The food is above adequate with terrific pastries and breakfast items. Outdoor patio for outdoor talking and indoor seating for working if needed. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here on a tuesday early afternoon and the place was packed! I stood in line to grab a coffee for 15 mins. We had a couple of calls to take around that time and we found Mazama to have a decent quiet room but the noise from the patrons and coffee machines still made their way through. Fortunately, noise-cancelling headphones are the way to go! THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall great coffee shop if you're looking for a morning to early afternoon buzz. They used to be cool. Not only do they up charge for non cow milk, but now the hippie hallow sandwich has been nixed. Vegans and Vegetarians have even fewer options now and pay more at Mazama coffee house. I'm a local resident since 1989, and I won't be bringing my mom and kids here anymore. read more

While staying near Dripping Springs for a family wedding, every morning we were in town, my husband and I came to Mazama Coffee to start our day. I loved that the service was always fast, friendly, and engaging. I wish I could say that I tried a variety of their beverages, but once I tried their brown sugar cinnamon latte, I was absolutely hooked. I did try it both hot and iced, with oat milk. Out. Of. This. World. I have to say that I was so tempted to purchase some of their brown sugar cinnamon syrup to take home with me but settled for some other merchandise instead. They do offer other beverages as well, and a nice variety of small bites and pastries. This is your quintessential coffee shop, and I was glad to have supported it while in town. read more

Mazama is the first place that I visit whenever I go to Dripping Springs. This place makes my mouth water as soon as I park to go inside. Upon entrance, the aroma of great coffee entrances your sensory. The walls, floors and tables create an old country store vibe. And the service is so friendly that it seems to set the tone for the rest of the customers. I usually always order a vanilla latte with almond milk because it is SO delicious. I wanted to order The Fitzhugh sandwich (please try this) but the kitchen had stopped making food when I got there. So I went for one if there house-made bento boxes and a gluten-free peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. The orders are completed pretty quickly but I always have time to browse their merchandise and selection of coffee which they roast themselves. They have both indoor and outdoor seating areas but I opted to sit indoors and enjoy my food. You definitely want to make this place your first stop in DSTX. They offer gluten-free sandwiches and pastries, which are all fantastic. And the coffee is second to none. I had bookmarked mazama long time ago, but it's too far for me, so was keep on postponing to try this place, but few weeks back, on our way to Johnson city, went there for breakfast and absolutely loved it, and if it was close by, dunno how many times I would've gone there. It's a cute coffee shop, with decent options of pastries, they have backyard seating and indoor seating. We ordered croissants, morning glory muffin, blueberry muffin and coffee. My husband absolutely loved the morning glory, so as my son his croissant, I got blueberry muffin, and it was so so so good and delicious. Coffee was absolutely perfect, it was not too strong nor too light, just right amount of acidity, bitterness and we loved it. Customer service was good too, and everything is very reasonably priced. Before they were about to close a young guy walks back and says "just letting yall know that we are closing and we are about to lock up. Not trying to kick yall out or anything but yeah.. and annoyingly laughs" Well yes you were kicking us out, you!!.... anyways.... I waited tables for 7 years as a teen through my 20s and have never/would never have done that to clients. The smoothie was okay and the iced coffee was excellent.
