Can't go wrong there and it was the best chorizo queso I've ever had! I got the burrito Mexicano and it was awesome too! The steak was tender and the quac on top was good too! I felt cheated. Sat down and was asked If I wanted either cheese or guac prior to even getting a menu. They brought cheese with the tortilla chips. Ends up they charged me $5 for it without even disclosing that it wasn't part of the chips. And then the waitress tried to hide the charge from me. This spot had been my favorite place for years and it hasn't changed once ounce of quality. I started off with their amazing chicken taco salad. The chicken is juicy and tender with excellent flavor. The Jim nichos always steal the show though. A full serving of chicken, rice, and queso. The chips are optional are no extra cost and add a nice fresh bite. The bean burrito and mole sauce are the best combination I've had anywhere. The prices are bang for the buck too. No complaints at all however, the staff apparently felt confident enough that neither me, or anyone else in my party could speak Spanish, and felt free to talk about very inappropriate and offensive topics including making fun of my party as well as other patrons. Our chicken fajitas and setups were served to us shortly after we placed our order and our fajitas, rice, and refried beans were very warm. We were in no hurry for our food, since we were still working on emptying our first margarita pitcher. Chicken fajitas were very flavorful and even the refried beans and rice also had a great taste. This is probably some of the better Mexican food you'll get in Tennessee. The food was very fresh and served very quickly. The more authentic dishes on the menu looked a bit dodgy, so we went for the more mainstream dishes but were pleased anyway. The salsa was thin and not very good, but I guess that's typical for the area. The only real damper on the meal for our expectations was the "fried ice cream" dessert. Yes I realize it isn't even a Mexican dish but restaurants around here serve it so duh we are going to order it. They clearly make them in advance and store them for later because the corn flake topping (what gives it that "fried" shell) was stale and chewy, and the sopapilla they served it in (my favorite part of the whole dish usually) wasn't fresh and possibly store-bought. Three of us walked in and we were promptly seated by a friendly little man and had a basket of hot chips and a spicy bowl of salsa in a matter of seconds. I ordered a side of guacamole and although it needed a bit of salt, it was fantastic. My husband had a #22 which was a Chile Rellenos and a crispy taco with rice and beans. He considers himself a "Chile Rellenos" connoisseur. He thought it was pretty good and said he would order it again. I ordered the "Burrito Mexicano" which was a beef fajita burrito stuffed with grilled onions and bell peppers covered with a cheese sauce and sour cream. It was delicious and very filling. I'd recommend for anyone who loves big burritos. The tacos carne de asade left a lot to be desired. There was no cilantro, onion or limes of any kind which I thought was the norm on these tacos. The fajita steak they used was fatty and I had a hard time chewing it. I wouldn't order these again. Service was exceptionally fast. I'm talking like 5-10 minutes for four meals. Fairly good food, the sauce is OK. The permeable wood bowls for the sauce are a bit disturbing, I'm not really sure how they clean them? To start off, I grew up eating at this restaurant. This was where my family would go for any special occasion but after recently I will be taking my business elsewhere. We went on Monday night around 8, so wasn't expecting it to be super busy but maybe a few people and there was 2 people in the whole restaurant...we figured out why very shortly. As soon as you walked in the door the smell of sewage and cleaning supplies hits you in the face. We talked about leaving (party of 6) but didn't want to be those jerks that sit down and immediately get up and leave, and 4 out of 6 of us LOVE this restaurant. We decide to stick it out and ordered a couple of pitchers of margaritas to share with everyone. The waiter checked the IDs VERY thoroughly. Which I mean I get it. I'm 23 so I get that quite often but my boyfriend is 28 and just recently moved to Tennessee from Minnesota and the waiter instantly turned into a different person. He asked for another form of ID, which we don't have because this is his drivers license. The guy then abruptly left and EVERYONE that was working in that restaurant started analyzing his ID. Again, I get it. It's a different state ID that probably doesn't end up in Dickson, TN very often. They had his ID for a solid 5 minutes before bringing it back and even then was reluctant to even serve. The waiter came back to the table a few minutes later asking for our order and we asked for the extra glasses and margarita pitcher and this man rolled his eyes, flatly said "yeah" and then just stood there. Unacceptable. The waiter never once came back except to drop off the check only because one of us went to the front and asked for it. We had to ask for water for two people in the party who never got it to begin with, refills, and the check. The food was probably the most poor quality I've ever eaten at this restaurant. Service alone will never make me go back and the food was just the cherry on top. There's plenty of other places for much better food. read more

Wow talk about pleasantly surprised. I had the Mazatlan Special and it was out almost before I finished ordering (not sure if that should worry me but once I tasted it all worries were washed away). Like many Mexican restaurants they bring out chips and salsa, both of which were good. The food was very good and the portion sizes generous. For the price (very reasonable) I don't think you'll find a better place in the area. I walked out of there with a stomach full of food and a 32oz beer (dos equis) for 13bucks and change. Pretty good... I only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because once my food was delivered thy basically forgot about me. My friend sang karaoke most of the night, and like most people she sipped on beer off and on. Only to see after her last song that lipstick was on her beer cup. Mind you she had drank half of it.
