    Mister X.

So I was in town visiting a childhood friend, and I picked this place for us to have supper at. I had a couple Titos and soda w/extra lime WEDGES!! Oh, and a flute of Josh prosecco. I spend a LOT of time in the south. I eat a LOT of Cajun and soul food, ALL OVER the south, just to set the tone. Ill get the pleasantries out of the way... My bartender and service were OUTSTANDING. All the employees were stellar. I even got a glimpse of the owner. Behind the bar they have a neat elevator that apparently goes to the top floor, where I think the kitchen might be. Wait staff put dishes on it and it goes up, and it comes down with food. Good decorum, and like 5 or 6 bigscreen TVs behind the bar. Let's get to the food, shall we? I was sort of expecting traditional cajun fare, it wasn't until we were there a while, I realized it was more of a nicer type restaurant and had knowing that prior, I might have picked the barbecue joint or something. Don't get me wrong, the food was ok, but for me personally, I see it more as a "take" on Cajun food, then actual Cajun food, just because of my exposure to copious amounts of restaurants. We ordered literally half of the menu. Shrimp Tchoupitulas to start. It was okay. Sort of bland. The boudin balls were actually really good. Super soft in the center. The crawfish etouffee, red beans and rice, and we ordered gumbo, which I didn't take a picture of. They all had to be spiced up with Slap ya Mama seasoning, and they had Crystal hot sauce instead of Red Dot which is fine. The main thing I didn't like about these dishes, is they had a very loose soup like viscosity. Even the red beans and rice, which should have been pasty. We ordered a shrimp po' boy sammich, but we got there later in the evening, so they had already turned the fryer off. For dessert we ordered the Beignets that came with a chocolate dipping sauce. They were super good. I've never had those before anywhere. I was disappointed that they didn't have alligator and other types of Cajun food you typically find, but I don't think that part of Tennessee has the palette for alligator. All in all, it would be good for a date night. The next time I'm back in town I'll probably hit a different establishment, but I am glad I went and tried it. It just wasn't "dirty" enough for me, and didn't have the flavor profiles that I'm used to. ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Comfortable and welcoming place, quiet and not too busy in the evenings. Much needed in Dickson. Try the beignets!

The Pond is a self described dive bar located in a strip mall area in Franklin Tennessee…read more I like to patronize places that aren't chains and aren't super popular spots when I travel, as I enjoy being around common folks in areas that I go to. The Pond doesn't disappoint. It is exactly what one would expect when seeking a dive bar atmosphere. A little ratty, a little rowdy and a whole lot of fun. The coup de grace was they had Guinness on tap, which was completely unexpected. We traveled to Franklin looking for an alternative to Broadway in Nashville on our first night in town. It is worth the trip. Franklin is a very old town with great old architecture and buildings over 200 years old that still look stunning. The Pond was the real reason for my drive down although it was our last stop on our tour of Franklin. The staff was friendly, the Hamburger and fries was delicious, and the beer was cold. They have many options to choose from on tap. They have Darts inside and a couch you'd find down in your friends basement that he found on a tree bank trash day, but that simply adds to the dive bar charm. We stayed for one drink and the burger as we were exhausted from a red eye flight the night before. If you're looking for a dive bar that stays open late and apparently gets packed as the night goes on, this is the spot for you. Most places close early in Franklin, so this is apparently the after hours spot that everyone ends up going to when all other options are closed. The Pond reminded me of a few dive bar spots in Vegas, and I have to recommend you pay them a visit, if for no other reason, just to say you've been there.

It's behind Mellow Mushroom. You go down a hall and when it ends, pizza place to right and there is a door to the left. Look back in hallway and there is an electrical box. Open that and flip the switch for the green light to come on. The door opens and a very welcoming hostess lets you in. It's not a huge place but plenty of room to sit or stand and hang out with friends. We got there a little early so we grabbed 2 seats at the bar. This is where the magic happens. The bartenders there are talented mixologists. Dave was so nice and helpful. He taught me a Pina Colada is supposed to be on the rocks. It was fabulous! I also had 2 of the holiday drinks that were delicious. By far the best place to go for great cocktails. They also have a small and reasonably priced snack/bar food menu. Just an experience. It should be a must on the top of the to do list.

The only thing negative is that I did see the bartender use sparkling water to top off several of our drinks which did dilute them slightly. The food was odd...I was expecting a traditional buffalo chicken dip but instead it was cold. It's a fun time and something unique to do if in Franklin, TN.

The inside appears to have been recently updated and renovated. On one side is the restaurant, the other is a tasting room, and the distilling in the in middle. We came in for lunch. Started out with old fashions which were spot in, ended up having two. For lunch it was the standard American fare. We had some lighter options like salads and shared plates. The food overall was good, but not extraordinary. Service could have been a little more attentive however. After lunch, we headed to the tasting room. The standard tasting was $16 which seemed to be quite reasonable. Some of the tastings are 90-100 proof, so be ready for that. Also picked up some T-shirts. We would have picked up a bottle, but because of TSA you would have to put it in a checked bag. We did end up picking up a bottle at the Nashville airport after security, but the cost is about 30% more. They indicated that you can order online and have it shipped. Looks like they do tours, but we did not have the time on this day. Definitely a stop if you are a whiskey drinker and in the Clarksville area.
