I lived in Carlsbad CA from 2010-2016, and spend the summer there now, even though I live the rest of the year in Tucson AZ. When I lived in Carlsbad, I worked with Kim in MBS studio and found her to be an excellent Pilates instructor---knowledgeable, accommodating, and personable. I started splitting my time between Tucson and Carlsbad in 2016, and continued to work with her during the summers when I lived in Carlsbad. When Covid started, she started offering virtual pilates classes and I have been doing this VIRTUALLY three times a week with her since March 2020,sometimes with my husband or other family members. There are three things I like most about working with her: 1) she is so knowledgeable about Pilates and other exercises, she can, often on the spur of the moment, modify or change the exercise based on my body's injuries, limitations, or how I felt that particular day, and respond when I say that doesn't feel good; and 2) she works hard to make this a positive experience for me, and 3) she is extremely knowledge about anatomy and pilates and other exercises. Example: I have a balance problem and was getting frustrated and struggling with a few of the exercises; on her own time she figured out a modified way for me to do the exercise in a gradual fashion, so I do not get so discouraged and can then "graduate" to the next harder level, working my way up to the "full" exercise, giving me confidence and success, rather than discouragement and failure. Two other points: 1) we do Pilates but also other strenth training exercises like dumbells, etc. and 2) other family members now officially work with her as well. There are a lot of other things I can say about working with Kim, but her knowledge and flexibility make her the best teacher to me. I highly recommend her. read more

I am new to pilates and Kim has been great to work with. She can change the program on the fly if a modification is needed and gives great cues to help with new movements. She is offering "zoom"/ video sessions during the pandemic and has always been great to work with on scheduling. The location is easy to get to and has plenty of parking. I've been very fortunate to train with Kim of MBS Precision Pilates and Wellness. She's an excellent trainer with a great energy and a good heart. On top of that, she's really fun to work with! FYI - On top of Pilates the studio also offers, Yoga, Barre, Massage, Craniosacral Therapy and the occasional workshop for other health and wellness training. Kim is able to tailor her training sessions to your best interest and needs, and even apply modifications where necessary. She's an instructor that is mindful of the body with a detailed focus on what moves are needed to prevent injury, offer rehabilitation, and above all offer a workout that delivers results. While I have not trained with the other instructors at the studio, I have seen them in action and can honestly say the MBS team is a well trained group of teachers with the right focus and energy... offering nothing but the best to their clientele. After training with Kim for a few years as a student, I decided to enroll in her Pilates Teacher Training program. She offers a very hands on training curriculum, keeping her trainee count to a minimum which allows for more individualized student focus. Pilates Teacher Training Program: Kim is an excellent trainer. She modifies and is very accommodating according to your level, knowledge and awareness of Pilates. Her program is very flexible and creative which allows you to work at your own pace. She is very aware of injuries, health issues and will instruct you in how to work with different populations. This is extremely important as other studios/trainers will not address this. I have thoroughly enjoyed the modules. Kim will give you very specialized individual attention while correcting form, proper cuing without overwhelming you and will give you continuous encouragement and support. I highly recommend Kim. I originally met Kim at a networking event at her beautiful studio. I really liked her direct approach and chose to call her when I wanted to strengthen my pelvic floor. Her workouts are AWESOME! They get every muscle, and Kim explains how to target the right muscle groups in a way that is easy to understand. I have been training under Kim for a few months now and could not be happier. I have another job, and her program is extremely flexible. She is kind, understanding, and patient. She also is a wealth of information. She works one on one with me to perfect my form, and explains how the exercise benefits me and what muscles I am using. She also goes over what possible injuries / conditions people may have and when an exercise would benefit or harm them. MBS Pilates has made a huge difference in my rehabilitation progress. About a year ago I developed a disorder of my autonomic nervous system which completely debilitated me. I underwent about 8 months of physical therapy and felt like I wasn't making the progress I wanted to see (I was an athlete before so not being about to exercise for any substantial period of time was really frustrating. When I say not making progress, I mean I could barely walk a couple blocks and had to lay down in-between exercises because I felt like I would pass out. I read somewhere that people with disorders like mine benefit from Pilates because most of the exercises are assisted and can be done laying down (to avoid falls since I get dizzy). The exercises also help circulation and blood volume which is important for me. I called Kim and she immediately understood what I needed. We started out with just 15 minute classes because that is all I could handle, and gradually worked our way up to an hour. I have been working with Kim for several months now and have seen a huge improvement in my balance, strength, and general quality of life. I have also worked with a few other instructors at MBS who are also amazing. I like that they are knowledgeable about Pilates but also are very aware of the steps that one needs to take to work up to where they want to be.
