I had a very good experience working with MC Construction and Design. They did a roof repair over the garage, new rain gutters (including a new gutter over the front door plus a new downspout to solve an annoying problem in the winter months) and painted the whole house. My job manager was Bar, and he was very easy to work with. He came over and did a very thorough job measuring for the estimate, and even climbed up on the roof to scope out how things looked and where the leak might be. His estimate was right in the same range as some other companies we talked to, and his thorough approach to estimating the job helped make the decision to go with MC Construction and Design. They even worked with me a little on the initial price, much appreciated! I'm very happy with the work. The paint prep was done very well, power washing the house, patching the stucco, then primer and paint. They did a great job with all our trim and keeping things clean and precise, protecting the windows and doors. The roof work and gutters ended up very nice, and super smooth install. Bar was in touch every day, and was quick to adapt to any small update or detail we'd missed in the planning phases. The same goes for the crew, very flexible and easy to work with. Taking a moment to write a review for a company that we did not contract with, however given the professionalism of MC Construction & Design, we felt it was important to do so. We contacted a couple of local companies this past month and had received mixed results as to getting estimates for exterior house repair and painting (one guy did not even show for the appointment he had set up). Not only did Mike arrive on time to meet with us to discuss our potential project he was both extremely polite and courteous in addition to being very knowledgeable. He was very patient in listening to our concerns for our home and our priorities and even provided a few helpful suggestions. Being a typical female weekend warrior, I attempted to paint the exterior of my house with the help of my friend last summer. We barely managed to get the front and partial sides done when we gave up - boy its hard work. I finally managed to save enough up to hire a contractor and met with three. I recently used MC Construction & Design for re-roofing and some exterior painting. I met with Avi, who was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. After I decided to go with MC Construction, the work began the very next Monday. It was great that the one company handled both jobs, so the painting was done simultaneously. Both roofing and painting were completed by Friday - very pleased with the speed of the job! I had not originally planned on having new gutters, but seamless gutters all the way around, installed on Saturday, were part of the roofing job, and I'm very happy to have new gutters, even in some locations that previously didn't have them. This was the second time we used MC Construction & Design; this time was to refinish the hardwood floors in our entire house, and to repair cracks/stucco and paint our entire interior and a few areas on our exterior. Price was right, and the work is superior; Armando and Angel did an outstanding job on our floors, even repairing a couple of boards. And Christian and his painting crew did superlative work inside and outside, replacing our outlet and switch hardware exactly where they came from afterward, and cheerfully helping us move some of our heavier furniture back in. If there was a small snag, it was that the floor refinishing took two days longer than we originally understood, and the painting took a couple of days longer (maybe owing to thr number of interior cracks they had to repair), necessitating is to extend our temporary home rentai; but as I said, that was a very minor hiccup to outstanding work. Our house needed repainting they were in a booklet of good companies that came to our house so I called the man I talked to was very convincing very smooth he had a lot of pictures to show what good work they did and it all sounded good. So we hired them. They did an awful job within less than a year the previous color was showing through the paint and they said oh your boards are bad but they were supposed to replace any bad boards it was in the contract. I had called and called and no one would call me back they did come back out and look at it finally he and just said oh that's the way your boards are a week later the boards were coming loose under the eaves so I called another company and it does some slide job on everything so I'm having to have the whole thing redone. The company is doing it now has already worked 5 days on it and I've done 20 times The works of this other company that MC ever even begin to do it's coming along much better MC did not care when we talked about the problems. I tried explaining and explaining and I got nowhere I would never ever hire them again. If you're thinking about using this company because their customer service is lousy . They should have followed what they said they do they should replace the ton of wood which they did not they should get used good quality paint but they did not so be aware. You aren't going to have want to go through what I'm going through and like I said he's a very smooth talker and I got oh don't worry about it we're professionals oh don't worry about it we're professionals he every time I questioned anything. We obtained 3 quotes for our project, MC Construction was the highest of the three quotes but we were able to use a coupon offered by the company and Avi the project manager that we met with for the quote was our favorite of the three companies. MC just finished overseeing a major roof/waterproofing overhaul for my 5-unit townhouse building and I am extremely pleased with the results!! The building has flat roofs and rooftop decks that leak in random places every time it rains, and I spent countless hours discussing with over 20 contractors to do a complete demo and rebuild of the entire top surface of the building. I went with MC even though they were not the least expensive (but still very reasonably priced) because they were thorough and exceptionally quick in their proposal (vs some others that kept calling me but would never give me an actual quote), their proposal was more inclusive (vs some others that charged extra for everything from plywood to metal drain covers), and because the GC Mike just left an overall excellent impression. I was not disappointed - the crew that did the work was very experienced, very friendly, very reasonable/accommodating, and produced excellent results. I had to do quite a bit of coordination and managing myself, but Mike was responsive and helpful at every step. I can't wait to post pictures once our decorations, furniture, etc are all in place. One side note - now that we have been through this process, MC should have no problem working with and insuring HOAs, another plus! TL;DR MC is exceptionally responsive, their work is high quality, and the prices are very fair and reasonable - these are the most important factors of any major project and considered together I'm thrilled with my decision to go with MC!! read more

MC Construction & Design - VERY PLEASED, AND IMPRESSED! Coming from a commercial construction manager/engineer (retired) with 35+ years, that's saying a lot. Recently completed a backyard demo and make-over with MC Construction and Ray Torres as our project manager. Demo'd a wood shed off the garage, installed concrete patios and a concrete porch with a ramp, an artificial turf area for the dogs, vinyl patio cover and fence section, drains and irrigation, and repainting a weathered french door. Ray was easy to communicate with, easy to work with, and knows his stuff. Does a good job of communicating the client's needs to the work crews. That's usually the weak link in most small residential construction companies. Ray pays attention to the details, like drainage slopes to avoid flooding problems, and offers options when he thinks something could be done better. He even went out of his way to purchase the specific brand of turf we asked for. Not an "or equal" product like most guys would give you. Ray even came and did the door painting himself to fulfill the final contract obligation. Hard to find a project manager as honest and knowledgeable as Ray. I have no hesitation recommending MC Construction and would absolutely use them for our next project, as long as Ray Torres is our project manager. read more
