The finish work was detailed and site was left clean and lovely. We did experience a single dispute occurring at the end of the project. While we had the verbal assurance from the project manager he would keep us apprised of cost overruns, we received a staggering surprise at the end of project, only with the final billing. When disputes or misunderstandings occur, there is always a lesson for both parties involved. We have learned with future projects to have all our requests in writing prior to implementing and making down payment for the job. Verbal sales statements are never enough no matter how sincerely made. We have learned to demand accounting toward the original contract, and to demand the new estimate of costs of new issues in labor and materials, as they occur. This clearly keeps all parties on the same page. In our case, we expected some cost overrun, but were unaware of the change order resulting in an overall 38% cost increase. While we did verbally discuss some rot issues and the placement of a new support pole, we had no change of order workplan to sign off our understanding of the potential increase in cost range. We are grateful to the owner and the project manager for reviewing our dispute, coming to an agreement for 31% above the final contract amount, after review of receipts and labor log. Had it not been for a breakdown in communication and lack of written understanding for both parties, this job clearly would have been a 5 star!!!!

He made good on his offer to make me better than whole. He didn't have to. I think it shows the strength of his character to own and to make an effort to remedy the past mistakes. Before and while work was in process Austin's office staff or support crew worked diligently to keep the project moving as quickly as possible. They smoothed communication issues and kept me updated. Austin's crew lead by Luis replaced the composition shingle roof with a new metal one. They were super-friendly and courteous. I love the new color! The same is true for the new exterior color. My greatest concern with the previous job was with the board and bat siding. Those concerns were justified by water-stains. Austin's crew remedied my concerns by replacing boards and bats. The previous scope of work was limited to two walls. Austin's crew weather-proofed the bats on all four sides of the house. And finally they stained those four sides with a new, more modern color. I've hired M & M Home Repair twice: March 2019 and January 2021 to fix broken backyard fence both…read moretimes. Here are pros & cons and my advice if you are thinking of hiring them. PROS + Mike tries to address the cause of the problem. I have lost a total of 7 fence posts in the past 5 years because they rot. Mike used the Rotbloc Wrap to prevent the posts from rotting under the ground. + Mike was able to give me a free estimate and repaired my face. There were delays but he did it in the end. I tried to get a quote from big names in town, but I couldn't. CONS -Both times when I hired Mike, there was a problem with details, some big, some small. First time (2019), his crew fixed my fence but didn't do a good job. He had to come back to fix it himself. Second time (2021), I notice that one of the posts was longer and a few of them were shorter than other posts. He fixed the post that was too long, but there was nothing that could be done with the two posts that are too short (by about 6 inches). ADVICE *Make sure to inspect the site when they are done to make sure everything looks good. *Get quotes from other contractors. I found out later that a Yelper friend of mine in town hired a different contractor and paid less than half of what I paid. I could be comparing apples and oranges, but both he and I had 4 posts replaced in January 2021. Send me a private message if you want to know who my Yelp friend used. *Pay cash/check. There's a 3.9% processing fee for credit card payments. Overall, I'm happy with M & M, and I think I will use them again.
