When this location opened it was great. It has slowly gone down hill since. The lettuce is often rotten on the edges. Sometimes inedible. They forget ingredients on their own specialty items or put items on that you requested be omitted. I'm just not a fan any longer. I will have to try the north side location next time. read more

It was a very rude experience! I imagine he thinks very lowly of his customers, I will not be returning to a place that doesn't care about the customer. McAllisters is run by high school kids who have no idea what they are doing and also the manager obviously has poor leadership skills, is not paying attention to his employees actions and is very rude! I've given this place so many chances because I really do love McAlister's food, but wow... Every single time I come, they get something on my order wrong and it takes forever and a day to get your food. It's not worth it. I have found mold on my bread, the roast beef sandwich has been so dry that It crunched, they are constantly leaving basic ingredients out of my salads, etc. It's my fault for choosing to come back after so many disappointing trips. It's not just an "off day". They are consistently bad at this location. Ordered over the phone for a pick up order. The guy kept interrupting me while I was trying to answer. Wait time was normal 15-20 mins. Pulled up to the pick up window, was told they were out of croissants and chocolate chip cookies. So I got replacements for that. Checked my bag, to find I was missing the sour cream I paid for along with a side of dumplings. Went inside and told them I was missing it, as I was standing at the counter I clearly see 4 chocolate chip cookies in their cookie stand, only to be told they were "out". Used to be a good place to eat. Used to be good food, fast and friendly service. NOT ANYMORE..! Slow slow slow is the new normal. I ordered nachos and chicken tortilla soup. Waited almost 30 minutes. Cold on the soup, cold on the nachos, and the chips were the bottom of the bag crumbs. If you can't get this order out in under a minute, you have problems. Soup is a standby item. You ladle it into a bowl, and off you go. Nacho cheese ? Another standby with virtually no skill involved. Make sure your stuff is hot, stack your plate neatly with whole chips, serve it, and I'm happy. Quick, easy, and they blew it every step. We had to clean one ourselves. It took almost 30 minutes to get our food and the order wasn't correct. We ate it anyway because we were in a hurry. I'm with two kids and we ordered a couple of kids pizzas and a grilled chicken salad. They were not busy as it was 8:11 in the evening on a Friday. Numerous tables were not bussed. I assumed they had just had a rush. There was no line. We ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. After 25 minutes I asked when out order would be ready. I was told soon and that we were next. Picked up and order yesterday under my husbands name. My husband called everything in. Well my daughter wanted a spud. Plain only cheese. They didn't informed my husband that when he called in. Not until he got to the window. So they told him they were out. And he said substitute the spud for Mac and cheese. My husband didn't check the bag. He also didn't check the receipt. We didn't have any of our chips. And then I noticed on the receipt they charged us for 3 Mac and cheese. I called and the girl said that's how they charge???? I told her that's ridiculous!!! And we had no chips! And charge for 3 scoops of Mac and cheese??? Wth are they using to scoop 3 scoops of Mac and cheese? A tablespoon???? I know for a FACT we ordered Mac and cheese as a side before and was only charged the .99 and on the online menu! Shows .99. Staff is very friendly, food is great, and they even have a tea loyalty punch card, which is extremely useful and free! Like most new restaurants you have to wait a while in line, but it's getting a lot better. The managers are out on the floor a lot and are always asking customers if they need anything, if the food is good, and so on. To people that live on the North side of Abilene, it seems like a far ways off just to go grab a sandwich and some (really good!) sweet tea. But fret not! McAlister's has plans to open a new store on N. Judge Ely in the future. My go to's are the club sandwich and the "adult" grilled cheese sandwich. I usually get the half sandwich-half cup of soup deal which is enough to fill anyone up! Their best soup is the Broccoli Cheese. Best word to sum up the experience 'disappointed'. This was my first experience with a McAlisters and might just be the last. I love baked taters so I decided I had to get one. I selected the 'Supermax'. With a name like that I couldn't go wrong could I? Ok, so McAlisters doesn't have giant potatoes, rather two potatoes put together to look like one big one. My spud came with Turkey, Ham, Bacon, black olives and cheese. To start with the potato was only warm and not hot as I would have liked. Next, the meats were so finely chopped it was hard to tastes them, in-fact I actually forgot, until nearly finishing, that there was actually bacon there at all. The amount of meat on the tater was poor, as was the cheese and the olives. My wife had a BLT which she let me try. Decent amount of bacon for the size of the bun but still not a very large sandwich for the money. She chose the mac and cheese for her side. That too was barely warm and tasted like store bought and not very good at that. Decor of the place was good, and friendly workers, but quality and portion of the food vs price.... i'd say skip it! read more

I was so disappointed. The hype of McAlister's was amazing. I got a club. It was DISGUSTING. The bread was bland and they put WAY too much honey mustard on it. Disgusting. The customer service wasn't horrible, but was bland and just like every other fast food place. The best thing i had was the lemon-aid and that was just average. Their famous "tea" was also nothing special. It also wasn't very filling at all. I had to go home and have a second dinner just to be full. Over hyped big time. This is a great place to eat a sandwich. The food is great and staff is friendly. Compared to the other deli style sandwich shops in town, this one will be our "go to" place. The broccoli cheese soup is divine and a wonderful side order to any sandwich they have on the menu! The only down fall is the drive through isn't really a "drive through". It is for call in orders only. But they are nice enough to alert you to this with the huge signs posted there. And if the sign doesn't do it for you, they have staff out there to make sure you have called in your order. (I hope that person gets paid a lot!) However, since it does take a bit for them to make your food, an actual drive through wouldn't be feasible, so it can be quickly overlooked once you taste the food. On a side note...they are also opening a second location across town. I only hope that location is as good as this one. read more

If I were a meat eater I would rank this higher. The nice thing about this place is we can eat here comfortably as an extended family. My parents and my niece and nephew all have their favorites and I'm exploring the veggie options which aren't bad. I've done the nachos and a baked potato and while it's nothing to get excited about, my food came out hot and tasty and as expected. While driving to Colorado we stopped to visit with a college roomie. She had suggested a steak house but it was crowded and the wait was too long. We needed to grab a quick bite, have a short visit and get back on the road. McAlister's Deli was a surprising delight. I had one of the salads, Savannah Chopped Salad, my guy got the Horseradish Roast Beef & Cheddar. Both were great & tasty. We both ordered the flavored teas, Mango and Apricot. My boyfriend and I came here expecting to get our food fairly quick since we went later in the evening and be on our way because we had plans. When we walked in, there were two groups in line in front of us. It took a while for them to take our order. The lady taking our order was rude. When we were getting our drinks another group entered the restaurant and she said "great more people." It took close to 25 minutes to get our food. During this time I witnessed employees talking poorly about customers loud enough for everyone to hear. They messed up at least five peoples orders and every time someone asked for them to fix it the proceeded to talk poorly about customers, sigh, and shake their heads.
