Great food and service. Every time I eat here my food is always delicious and the staff is always super friendly

My daughter got the french dip and said the meat didn't have much flavor and the dipping sauce was just ok. The mac n cheese was regular mac n cheese she said. I got the half and half sandwich and salad. The salad dressing was weird not very good lime dressing. I should have got ranch. The sandwich was good but wasn't much to it. read more

Sat at the counter for 20 minutes while employees stared at me, didnt acknowledge me, didnt even think to maybe do their job and ask why a customer is standing there? Literally just walked out. Saw orders going out and food looked like shit anyway. Go to any other McAlisters location this one always sucks. read more

This chain restaurant has always been a favorite of mine. I admittedly haven't frequented one here in East Tennessee since moving here. I like trying out new places so McAlisters was kinda forgotten. Well, let me just say, nothing has changed here in Bristol. The food was fresh and tasty, the staff attentive and friendly. Oh, and so helpful in making my food choices. They even provided samples to taste of their new featured soup. The dining area was clean and welcoming. We never felt hurried or uncomfortable. The spicy turkey melt is the best sandwich ever. Also the service is really good. The lights and paintings and decorations are very nice.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is a bit pricey for the serving size, but I guess that's just this business. The kids liked their pizza and macaroni. I do want my sweet tea a bit sweeter, so that is personal preference as well. read more

I always feel compelled to tip, but it annoys me when I simply place an order at the counter (for take-out) and the payment system presents you with a default tip built into the bill ... an order taker should be paid enough by the restaurant without guilting me into a compulsory tip. read more

I guess the fault is mine. Someday I may learn to ask what's in a dish. I was craving a BLT Sandwich and noticed a nearby McAlisters featured one with Avocado and they also have a convenient Drive-Thru window. Eight bucks got me a sandwich with scant bacon, two small bits of tomato, some avocado chunks and a bunch of arugula drench in some ghastly tasting oil. Next time I'll ask what's in something before I order it. To me a BLT ought to have enough bacon to see it and taste it, slices of fresh tomato, lettuce and MAYONAISE! Gotta find a place which serves the real deal today. read more

I've only downgraded this deli because of the dismal interior. Our sandwiches and soup were really quite good. I had potato soup and 1/2 BLT with avocado slices on it. RC had Southwest Chicken Sandwich. He said it was very good, had a bit of spice to it, and he had enough left for a midnight snack. We were hungry, on the road, glad to sit and eat. I love their food but the more times I go the more they mess up my order or leave off things. Today the croissant I got with the chicken salad sandwich was way overcooked and burnt in spots. Made the bread tough and hard to eat. I always ask for extra dressing cause there's just not enough in those small containers. It's always on my Receipt but most of the time like today they never give it to me I always ask for cheddar cheese instead of the cheese that comes on it because I don't like blue cheese, and very rarely do I ever get cheddar I either get the Colby Jack or nothing at all. read more

AN HOUR OF MY LIFE I CAN NEVER RECLAIM - ONE OF THE WORST RESTAURANTS !!! We came here the first week they opened. The food was okay, not great but it was the first few days. Staff was fairly friendly. Tonight, I went back with my three teens to try it out again. Wow, Wow, Wow (and not in the good way!) We ordered and went to sit down. All of the tables on the far end were dirty and most in the middle. We finally found a long table that was clean. The kids and I were happy to try this place as we had been to them before in Texas. We sat and waited for our food, and waited, and waited, and waited. After 20 minutes, we talked about getting a refund and heading to Chick-Fil-A. But no, we decided to stick it out - our mistake. We were really hungry when we got there. Finally at 35 minutes, one of my sons received his sandwich and soup. The soup was hot, the sandwich was not! I went to find napkins. I went over to the service area with the straws - no napkins or straws. I passed two people waiting for their meals and said good luck. They were leaning on the wall and looked tired. The lady asked what was going on. I told her we had waited almost forty minutes and had finally received one sandwich. She told me she worked for corporate at McAllisters. She apologized for the wait and tried to make an excuse that the staff had had some changes since they opened and they were trying to work out some of the finer points. I noticed they were bringing my daughter her sandwich. I headed back to the table and my oldest son and I finally received our sandwiches almost 5 minutes after the first sandwich came. Still no napkins. My daughter had to go up to the counter to find someone to provide napkins and a fork for the potato salad. My sandwich was lukewarm at best. My daughter's sandwich was cool and disgusting. It was a big sloppy mess of sauces that tasted as though they had turned bad. (Southwest chicken) No one at the table could tolerate the taste. We left the entire sandwich. All of the other sandwiches were so-so and none of us finished the dry and mushy excuses for food. The manager checked in with people who had recently arrived but was conspicuously trying to avoid all the tables that had waited for forever to get their food. He finally came by and says "everything going well?" I immediately told him it was not. It was ridiculous that we had had to wait as long as we did. He apologized and said they had 5 people call in sick from the kitchen. I told him that at the very least someone should have come out and informed all the tables that were waiting that it would be quite a while. He asked me to wait a minute and went off. He eventually came back and gave me two VIP cards. He started in with the half hearted apology again and said he hoped we'd try them again. I was actually more irritated by now and said I doubted we'd be back and I certainly wasn't happy that we'd spent $49 and they wanted to comp us for 2 meals in the future. He said oh I can get you two more and went off to get two more cards. After he brought them by, I told the kids maybe we could give them to a charity. When we started to leave, the lady in the red top who had spoken to me earlier came over and said she just wanted to apologize again. She assured me that this wasn't the norm. She told me that they were short staffed and had received a call-in order for 60 earlier in the evening. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse! Seriously, why on earth would any restaurant that is short staffed accept a large unexpected order without proper notice? This location is a disaster. I'm usually willing to give restaurants a second chance especially when they are new. The only thing epic about this was in the magnitude of their incompetence. It takes a special place to prepare lukewarm food with 40 minutes of prep time. I know one thing for sure - we certainly won't be back. read more

I ordered the Turkey Reuben. It was bland, small, and I didn't taste thousand island dressing at all. Should have gone to Subway. Nice to have another choice for lunch but I'll think twice next time I want to spend over $11.00. Forgot to mention, I've never had a Reuben without sauerkraut. Weird. read more

I worked for McAlister's over 20 years ago in Knoxville, Tn. My mom lives in Bristol TN/VA and she's going to live with us in Iowa (where we unfortunately don't have a McAlister's. She wanted to go out to eat tonight and she suggested McAlister's. In my 20 year absence as either a patron or employee, they did quite a bit of redesigning and updating the Muzak (from Oldies to more contemporary music, lol!). The food and spirit was just as I had remembered it - generous, tasty portions and a delightfully friendly staff. I just HAD to not only share my story with the manager AND the lovely ladies bringing our food. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND McAlister's to anyone, any time! My mother, roommate, brother in law and sister in law as well as myself had a delightfully pleasing dining experience! read more

I like McAlisters but wish they would do better with waiting on their customers and getting refills. They don't seem to have enough staff. It's hit or miss with them. You can go one day and the food is great and then go back another day and it's not as good. The past few evenings that I have eaten there, not one employee ever stopped at our table and asked if we needed a refill. From start to finish - we could never have asked for more. We had a large order that McAlister's in Bristol, VA delivered to us - 60 box lunches. Every piece and part was perfect. From Travis taking the order to Marlene calling the next day to follow up - these people have their act together! If I could give more than 5 stars for their customer service, I would. McAlister's has ok food but it is far overpriced. For what you pay for a couple of sandwiches you could get a steak in other restaurants. The service is just ok, the atmosphere is just ok. I have eaten there a few times and the food is never the same even though I order the same thing. The only reason I keep going back is the chili. In my opinion it is the one shining star amongst a great deal of overpriced nothing. It's sandwiches folks. It's utterly ridiculous. If someone could give me that chili recipe I would never set foot in that place again. read more
